We've gotten two Hobie kayaks from Delaware Paddlesports. It takes us over two hours to get there but their prices are so good that it's worth the drive over. They have a great selection of water sport items and the guys who work there are cool. They're very knowledgeable, patient when being asked a million questions and while they suggest add-on's you don't feel like they're trying to force anything on you. My friend and I are new to kayaking. Brian at Delaware Paddlesports was so helpful in suggesting what type of kayak would work best for us. This was August 2023. We love our Hobie kayaks and have been kayaking whenever we can. We joined their social paddle which is every two weeks on Tuesday. You can go anywhere in the DelMarVa area and buy a kayak. And, the kayak that I wanted, a Hobie Pro Angler 14, is sold at a price set by the manufacturer. So, no real reason to shop around for this particular model. Except, I spoke to a couple of employees at Delaware Paddlesports and they were exceptionally polite, knowledgeable and friendly. So, I bought my kayak there. A couple of years down the road and numerous phone calls seeking advice later, I'm very happy with my purchase. In fact, I've sent a couple of friends there to buy their Hobies. Last week I walked out to my back yard and discovered damage to my Hobie from a fallen tree branch. A quick look on the internet showed that I could repair my kayak with a set of the parts that were damaged. I only needed one of that item. They were only sold in pairs. And, not cheap. So, I called Delaware Paddlesports and spoke to Chuck. Chuck checked and found the part that I needed in their shop. Just the one, used, not a pair. Perfect. But, even better...Chuck told me that if I could pick the item up, there would be no charge. What??? In this day and age customer service is a long forgotten term. Once the sale is made its often "Thanks, See ya. Next?" But not here. How easy would it have been for Chuck to simply look my part up on the computer, add shipping and make a couple dollars profit for the store? And I'd have been stuck paying for two items when I only needed one. So instead of making that couple dollars, Delaware Paddlesports now has a lifelong customer and advocate. I've already recommended Delaware Paddlesports to a couple looking to make multiple purchases and will send anyone looking for a great kayak and even better customer service to Chuck and Delaware Paddlesports! read more

Traveled a few hours from NJ to Delaware paddlesport looking to purchase 2 kayaks. The guys Willie, Chuck and John were more than helpful. We have never owned a kayak before, by the time we left we can say that we are confident with the transporting, assembling and the breakdown process of the pedal drive system, steering, seat and rudder. We were able to demo the kayaks on a local pond/lake which made our experience even better. They explained everything!!! They assembled and disassemble each kayak we purchased attached the H rails explained how the attachments work with the H rails. Yes we spent hours together. They even packed the kayaks into the bed of our truck and prepared them for a safe trip home. I can not thank them enough!!! I am so happy we chose to go there for the purchase. I met the guys from Delaware Paddlesports at the Harrisburg sports show. They let me try out one of the kayaks with the Mirage Drive pedal system. A week later I went back to purchase one of their display models. Brian and company were extremely helpful in processing the sale and helping me load the boat up. I had one small issue with the paddle pieces not connecting, but Dean and Brian quickly remedied the situation by sending me a brand new paddle within 2 days! I called them to ask what could be done. They sent me a section of bar to replace and lengthen the crossbar at no charge (not even shipping). I had it two days later. I live in Minnesota and I was staying in Lewes for a few days to bike and paddle. when re-racking my kayak, my Hullavator rack popped a screw and I did not have tools to repair. I managed to secure my kayak with extra straps but I was not relishing driving 1200 miles with it like that. Fortunately Delaware Paddlesports was close and they repaired my rack for no charge. What a life saver! Next time I'm in the area, if I need any kayaking supplies, I will definitely be back. I would have to say the three hour trip each way on a Holiday weekend was all worth it ,when I picked up my new YAK today. I have been looking at all these 5 star reviews for the last few months wondering what is so great about Delaware Paddlesports, that you can't get elsewhere. Everyone was asking me if I was nuts dealing with a place this far. I now would say everyone else is nuts if you don't buy your next Kayak from them. I can't believe how great their attitude is and how much knowledge they have. It was nearly 100 degrees out there and it did not phase Chris at all with all my continuous annoying questions. All the guys here are great to work with. They are full of knowledge and genuinely helpful and kind. My husband and purchased two Hobie kayaks from them, and Dean took us out on the water so we could test drive the Hobie Outback and Revolution 13 models. My husband wasn't clear on which model he should get and Dean was patient and kind allowing hubby the time he needed to make up his mind. Excellent experience here this weekend! My boyfriend and I ventured out to Lewes to purchase a paddle board he had been eyeing. Everyone was super helpful (I can't remember everyone's names, sorry!) specifically Paul. He helped my boyfriend pick between two boards and also helped with the paddle. Two of the guys helped us load it securely into the truck for a safe ride home. Turns out, we forgot the fin! Paul called as soon as he realized it and said he would mail it to us. Superb experience, laid back environment, and top notch customer service. Also have to mention that it was a demo day, which I imagine was crazy busy for them. A huge positive shout out for kayak rental from Delaware Paddlesports! My family rented a cottage up at Prime Hook Beach and rented 3 kayaks over multiple days. These nice folks answered all our questions and phone calls ahead of time, DELIVERED multiple kayaks to our rental house and picked them up several days later, at a very reasonable rental charge and no delivery fee (about 15 minutes away from their store) They're the BEST!
