Great state park! Camping here is fun! The loops at the top of the park are more spacious and…read moresometimes more private. The ones in H loop are really squeezed in and have less space and no privacy. It's hard to book a site, and so frustrating to see empty sites that have been booked but not used. The bathrooms are some of the cleanest camping bathrooms I've ever seen. They're pretty well maintained. The horses do wander free, and you need to be careful with food on your site, as explained by the park rangers. But it's fun to see them and watch them. The camp hosts are good about cleaning and maintaining the area they're each in charge of. The beaches are nice and it's fun to go clamming out in the bay. A very quick drive will take you to Ocean City, to the boardwalk, to go karts, Walmart, Wawa, the movie theater, etc. Lots close by to do if you get caught there on a rainy day. Lovely place to visit.

Assateague is so cool!... Particularly on a breezy day when the flies can't takeoff…read more During a trip to Ocean City, we visited Assateague on the Maryland end. I was so eager to see the horses I heard about, but weary we might not see any. Maybe we were lucky, because we saw sooo many horses! On the road, in the parking lots, in marshes, wandering, grazing, standing on front of cars. So cute! Stop at the visitors center first. Very nice place, helpful information, exhibits, a touch tank, bathrooms, gift shop and then you'll be on your way. Admission per vehicle gets you access for a week. We loved spending a few hours here so much that we came back a second day. The beaches are clean and not crowded. Lots of dogs, so be warned if you're averse. The marsh trail was really cool. We saw several small fishies, pipefish, crabs, egrets, just really cool to look in the water throughout the trail and observe. Bayside beaches are hidden spots for isolated swims. I saw a family here and there just swimming completely alone. The forest trail was also a good one to walk. More interesting nature. We weren't too crazy about the dune trail. Although, it was interesting to see the old abandoned road in the middle of the dune. Horses here there and everywhere, almost. Overall, such a fun place to visit. Go for a few hours or spend the day. Remember, ensure it's breezy and you'll be almost completely fly free.

It has a waterbottle fill station and plenty of seating. Shade is a minimum and there are no bathrooms around. There is a port a potty across the street. We make an effort to go to Bayside Park every year. They have two major sets of play equipment one…read morefor the smaller kids and another for the bigger kids. There is also a set of swings that is separate from the other two. There is a combo of natural mulch on the one part and rubberized mulch that is paved on the other half. Both playsets have multi-tiered areas to play on and under. Monkey bars, climbing walls, several slides and secret fossils and a few service windows to play "ice cream shop or food delivery" is also a nice touch. The park is open from dawn til dusk usually the park is empty but every once and a while friends will stop by and play. If you do come in the early morning remember to bring a little towel or rag to dry off the slides as the morning dew almost always leaves a puddle at the bottom of the side and no one likes a wet bottom.

This is a hidden spot in Delaware and its so beautiful. You won't find many people here but you will find your perfect quiet place whether kayaking, biking, crabbing, hiking, or swimming ( public boat ramp). The observation tower is the best view of the Assawoman Bay and wildlife . You will see lots of bald eagles, river otters, giant woodpeckers , blue heron, egrets. SMH why all those cars are sitting in traffic to go to the beach when you can go to the bay ? It's completely free ...lots of fishing and crabbing , sailing , paddle boarding and don't forget to bring the dogs because they are allowed here!

I was pleasantly surprised that this park seems like it was remodeled in the past few years and is very nice. There is a large playground structure with multiple slides, monkey bars, and climbers. It's geared towards the over 5 crowd, but my toddler managed fine with some assistance from mom and dad. There are 4 swings, 3 benches, and an open area with trees that would be a nice spot to picnic or hang out. The only negative is that the park is right off of the street so be careful if your kids are runners. It's a small park so no bathrooms or anything like that. Definitely worth checking out while you're in OC.

I parked and spent about 20 minutes enjoying the beach and the sunshine. The beach is beautiful. No trash, firm sand and a smooth include down into the water. By the time we got here the facilities up front were closed so I have no idea what was available sans for restrooms and an outdoor shower. According to the website, shower and changing facilities are available, along with a food concession, chair & umbrella rentals, even a Mobi-Mat which allows wheelchairs to be pushed onto the beach (such a great idea). The sandy area is very wide and stretches for 3 miles with zero shady spots or trees. Lifeguards were gone for the day with their stands turned upside down. I noticed some vehicles actually parked on the beach near the northern end, a very cool perk that is not allowed back home. Ocean conditions were fairly calm but most folks were in waist-high water at most. OVERALL: Spacious real estate, but coming from Hawaii, my expectations are set too high, LOL.

Be sure to check out BOTH trails before giving up on spotting great wildlife. The footbridge is in a very pretty bayfront Park on the eastbound side of route 90 just before you cross the bridge into Ocean City. There's plenty of parking and a porta potty here. It's worth your stop before going to Ocean City. Even better to hang out here if you have to wait to check into a hotel. It's a very nice introduction to Ocean City

Not as large as some of the behemoth ones that used to exist around my area before everything was converted to these very expensive metal/plastic contraptions, but still huge. - the parking is plentiful, - the crowd was small all 3 times we went - dog park across the driveway if that's useful to you. - gazebo in the center so parents can watch all areas from a shaded spot Negatives - - The only downsides would probably be that there's not really enough shade and some of the slides got VERY hot. - The parking lot next to it gets muddy on one end if it rains too much - The parking along the driveway has a nice 6-inch or so drop off to it if you pick the wrong spot. Doesn't matter much with a modest SUV, but might with a sedan.

Big downer is the pads requirement and membership (or daily fee) to skate. Giving it four stars because the park continues to modernize, and I'm hoping one day its policies might too (skate at your own risk, no fences, etc.). If bozo tourist bros are the problem, I'm sure the locals are up to hold it down. Stoked to see skate camps and such for the little grommets, too - good to see them ripping the small bowl!
