I live in an apartment bldg that was built in 2019. The elevator is broken on a regular basis. Over the last 4 weeks it has been broken every weekend and this last week, every other day!! Otis comes out and resets it but it breaks within days!!! I spoke to the Otis guy today and he argued with me!! He said its only been broken twice and he is "working on it"! Its been over 5 weeks with at least 8-10 times its rebroken. He was rude and argumentative!! Unacceptable. read more

After a $350K modernization, they did a poor job, and the elevators keep breaking down. They repeatedly come to fix them, charging us a premium for the repairs, which they should have done right initially. They claim the repair department is separate from the modernization department and continue to bill us. When we refused to pay their exorbitant repair charges, they locked one of the elevators to extort money from us. Like a shakedown. You better off with different company. Other companies are cheaper and mor reliable. Otis just has a name. read more

Otis Elevator recently installed an elevator in an apartment that I help with.... the Installers, Eric and Nick in Los Angeles were incredible. They were efficient and very professional. Otis was very professional in the installation...and their support for service afterward is incredible as they show up within 1-2 hours even for non emergency issues. Their field service people like James are also quick and easy to work with. !! I would definitely recommend them for apartment buildings ... Amazing company!! read more

I would give less than one star if this was a choice. Our two floor elevator stopped working after Hurricane Ian. The technician came out and told us he didn't have the proper equipment/wasn't qualified to assess the damage. We did not hear from them again. We called to get a status and another technician was sent and he said the same thing. We called again and another tech was sent and still nothing was one. We wanted the car lifted so the water could be pumped in the pit. They sent someone on a Saturday and did not notify was until they were already at the building. We were then told that they did not bring the proper equipment to lift our particular elevator despite the fact they had been servicing our elevator for the entire 16 years we have had it. They left. We were then told that we need write them a check for 298,000.00 before they would do anything and that they needed to replace every part of elevator in case floodwater touched it. We are a small local business. We were also told that no one else could service our elevator because were under contract with them. They have been billing us 11,000.00 for the above service calls even though they did not do anything. The only people that I can discuss/dispute this with are our service reps William Korn and Nick Richards. On multiple occasions, they assured me that they agreed that the bills were unreasonable and they would get them waived but their manager was out of town. This dragged on for months and then they just stopped calling me back. They really have been awful. Do not use Otis Elevator. read more

We have an annual service agreement for 6 elevator cars with Otis. Two of these cars are Dover elevators. One of the Dover cars broke down when an employee got stuck inside. The door finally opened but we shut the car down and called Otis who sent a tech the next day. The tech reported to me that everything checked out. Two days later an employee got stuck in the same car so we shut it down AGAIN. Long story but it took over a month for Otis to fix the problem. We know that Dover is long ago out of business but Otis should know this better than anyone. We still have a service agreement for two Dover cars along with our other Otis elevators. I called Theisen Krupp, the company that took over when Dover went out of business. TK is still around making elevators and servicing all elevators including Otis and Dover. They came by as a courtesy and analyzed in 20 minutes what was wrong with our broken down Dover car. It still took Otis a month after that to figure it out what was wrong and get our car fixed under our service agreement. I should have told them what I learned from the Theisen Krupp visit. Otis has proven to me that they are poor communicators, slow responders, out of touch technicians, and absolutely lousy at customer building. As soon as our current service agreement is up for renewal, we are GONE!!! read more

I have never before thought to myself "I wish the government was running this project, because they'd be so much more efficient". My experience with Otis was as bad as it gets. They showed up at my site for 1 day and said that I need to immediately rent some expensive equipment so they can continue working, which I did. They did not show up to the site for over 2 weeks after that. When I called the superintendent, he didn't even try to give excuses, just said that he needed the crew to unload some stuff somewhere else. Every step of the way there have been problems, excuses and no communication. The only solution that was offered to me was to pay them more money. The fact that the entire building was delayed due to their incompetence did not seem to bother anyone. Stay as far as possible from this horrible company. read more

Every time I get in my Otis elevator and ride it up to my 22nd floor apartment I thank my lucky stairs! At 350lbs there is no way I'd be able to enjoy the view I have. I would be paying top dollar to live on the first floor with all the other fatsos. THANK YOU to Mr. Elisha Otis for inventing the elevator safety break back in the 1800's. We failed our elevator inspection so we reschedule the inspector and one Otis tech they sent about spent about 1 hour total on the reinspection, well they charged us $5200. This is how they are making their money, they are a public traded company and should be investigated for over stating their earnings, The only way they make money is by overcharging and holding the elevators hostage until they get what they want. They are a bad company and need to be audited by the FCC and the DIR. read more

I have a commercial building, an historic old converted schoolhouse. There is an elevator in it, that someone added a few years back. It's old and funky, and the door is locked with a sign that says "not for public use". City told me I needed to have it inspected annually. So I contacted Otis and they told me I'd have to sign a five year contract before they'd even look at it. After many months got the contract signed and first payment made, then many months more before someone came out to look at it and tell me what I'd need to do to get it to pass inspection. $8000!! Ok, no. Called the city and told them I was just going to put the elevator out of service. They said that was fine. Otis? Still wants their $1400/year for the next 4 years, even though they have not and will not provide even one service/inspection/maintenance call. I emailed the account rep asking if they'd consider allowing me out of my contract, as surely they don't want to be known as the company in the business of selling useless contracts, but so far I've heard nothing from them, unless you consider that they resent my current outstanding invoice. read more

Our condo building has a contract with Otis and yet when we ask for logs of visits for regularly scheduled maintenance and inspection, they go silent. Sadly, still awful. To be fair; the technicians are prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The Representatives are unresponsive, unorganized, and unhelpful. It seems that their policy is to nickel and dime for any possible charge (Most recently received an invoice for $4119.00 when a technician spent less than 3 minutes with me during regular business hours onsite to flip a power switch) while not invoicing in a timely manner to muddy the waters. If I could give a negative number I would. I purchased a commercial building and had a brand new elevator installed for my handicapped patients that I take care of. Right from the beginning they were abrasive, and non caring about any business interruptions or how the install went - just that they got paid. Locking me into a 5 year service contract has been a disaster with an elevator that needs repair often and service reps that you can't contact and technicians who are clueless. Currently, there has been an issue with them receiving any forms from me due to a non working fax machine on their end. They operate and know they are 1 of the 4 big elevator companies in the world and untouchable by us little guys. OTIS is a disgusting company and terrible throughout its organization. For those of you looking for a elevator service company. This one is NOT THE ONE TO GO TO. Sad to say, but its the truth. I had recently had Otis service my apartment complex, and I kid you not, it broke down 3 times in 1 month. Otis must have sent out 10 different techs and none knew what the problem was. They would fix the elevator temporarily for 2 days and it would break down and take them 1 week to fix this. I mean seriously, none of their techs knew a thing about fixing a broken elevator. After countless days of no working elevator, and a ton of money spent on service calls, we ended up just saying FORGET IT! pay for new equipment to be installed to fix the elevator, i mean whats the point of "fixing" the situation if its going to break down again, should have just told us to switch out the equipment from day one, but decided to drag out the process for well over 1 and a half months. I would put ZERO stars but I had to click one to review. Not impressed by this company at all if you service Orsini complex. Elevators break down and response time is very slow a couple days and never on a weekend emergency for an expert tech to assess or fix the problem. And they always have to order "a special part" that takes forever !! Living in a high rise with an injured knee makes these instances painfully frustrating. Why is this the case? If I was Otis Elevator Company, I would take a long look in the mirror and trying to figure out how I got so lucky. How the hell can a company with such shitty reviews about their products and services stay in business? The management of the company can't feel good about what they are providing or the direction they are moving in. I recently purchased a commercial building in Dallas that has an Otis elevator. The elevator was working fine but got stuck on the first floor, so I called Otis to set up a service call. I literally called 3 times with service requests before I got a call back. When I finally spoke to a service (sales) rep., he said he would email me a bid (?) to have someone come out and troubleshoot. Nothing was sent, so I called a couple of days later, they had the same guy call me and we had the same conversation. He finally sent a BID to come out and troubleshoot... $6,640.00. Yes, SIX THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY FUCKING DOLLARS to troubleshoot. Just.....no words. I just had Oracle Elevator Company come out and fix the issue. $340. read more

Well have been trying to get a quote since mid - november.. numbers are either disconnected, no answer, left message, even with now the state manager and 1 week later still no answer and a new message. Try this phone number and press 5, number is not connected. It is almost funny how difficult it is to obtain a quote.. Finally mid december got them to come out to view and then were going to send me the quote the following week. That did not happen, i appreciate it is X-mas and new year, but it is over a month later and still i cant email or speak to anyone. I cant tell you if i recommend as i can't get a quote for them to do a job, but i do suggest that you take a week off and call them each hr daily on various numbers until you can get a response. I think it is now 5-6 different people who have not called me back now, so its not even one unorganised person. Never used them before, so can't be personal.. at a loss... read more

We had 2 residents stuck in an Otis elevator for over 1 hour between floors. They pushed the call button and was told the ETA for Otis was 90 minutes. Our engineer continuously called Otis and the ETA never changed! He finally helped them climb out. Had this been an older resident that person would not have gotten out. The call was also horrible. They had to listen to a call center the entire time and when they asked if someone was still there, a different voice came on. So unacceptable!!! read more

I am handicapped and live in an apartment building. And the Otis repairmen have been a nightmare to work with. The elevator kept breaking down, and they would not admit that they don't know how to fix it. And they would not escalate it to a manager. I have been suffering and forced to climb the stair and in danger of losing balance and falling. The repairmen know we have 2 families with handicapped members in the building, but they do NOT care.
