They rarely showed up to work on it. They would go multiple days at a time without updating anyone in the building, the building manager included. If you want totally unreliable service that leaves your elevator broken, then sure, hire these morons. If you want your elevators actually working and serviced properly, find literally anyone else.

I have only good interactions with the company and staff. Since I can't bring my elevator to them, I'm required to pay for their time to come to me. Usually, when I have a problem with my elevator, a tech is out that day to find the cause. If it's after normal working hours, the techs are more than happy to come out, just requires authorization for the charge. The front office understands the mechanics of maintaining the elevator's equipment and necessary inspections and/or reports. When I've asked a question, they willingly explain in layman's terms the answer. I'm glad as the original manufacturer, they can replace the same parts, which costs less than upgrading. I recommend this company for its honesty, friendly and helpful front office and great service motto. They keep my elevator running.

Nonetheless, I followed up w Tara and requested a call back. She got a message to the owner Chris, who called me right back and came by within the hour on a Friday afternoon! Chris immediately remembered that he was with the team that installed our elevator many years ago. He knew what he needed to do but since the model is obsolete, and the company had been sold, he would need to acquire a special tool to further diagnose the problem. He set out to acquire the tool immediately BUT unselfishly recommended two other companies that may be able to help us sooner. One of these companies actually ended up doing the repair, but through it all, Chris stayed in contact to make sure we were getting the proper service. Chris is the epitome of outstanding customer service and honesty. He has in-depth knowledge of the industry. He is personable , professional and genuinely cares! I have a residential dumbwaiter and asked for an estimate. I was told that there was a flat rate for the service call, which would include any labor needed to fix the dumbwaiter, and that any replacement parts would be extra. Seemed straightforward enough. The repair technician arrived on time and did a thorough job, scrutinizing every component of the dumbwaiter and cleaning various parts. The service call lasted longer than I expected - and perhaps longer than was necessary - but I wasn't worried because I was told there wouldn't be any hourly labor charges. And then I received the bill...which charged me for an hour of labor ON TOP OF the service call fee (which alone is the equivalent of 2.5hrs of labor). So basically, I was charged for 3.5hrs of labor, when the technician was only working for 1 hour. I called their office, and spoke to Kim, their service manager. I explained that I had been specifically told that I wouldn't be responsible for any hourly labor charges, and Kim told me that I was misinformed. She was curt and completely unwilling to work with me on my bill. Maybe this is an issue that arises with them a lot. There aren't a lot of companies that specialize in residential dumbwaiters, but I'd think twice before calling California Custom Lift.

They TRAPPED me and my family in an elevator and one of their technicians tried to ASSAULT me in my…read morebuilding telling me to "F*** OFF"! after doing so. Total Access Elevator committed an OSHA violation because of their unprofessional and negligent conduct. They DID NOT inform our property manager that they were conducting an annual inspection and arrived without any notice to our management. And although they had 3 technicians on site, none cared to properly notify residents that maintenance was occurring at 8am when everyone is starting to go about their day. My partner and child were trapped inside for around 10mins taking her to school, even making her late. We were TERRIFIED inside as the elevator jerked up and down and the call / help buttons even told us to call our administrator (ie. property manager). We yelled out for HELP and didn't even know what floor we were on despite being on the top floor. Once we were out, I asked one of their technicians if they had notified management about the maintenance / repairs. They didn't. I asked if they even had communicated with the manager prior to their arrival. They Didn't. I asked why they hadn't let residents know about repairs prior to starting on them. They Didn't. As I was asking reasonable questions, one of their other technicians became aggressive telling me in front of my family that we "should be thankful that they let us out". They put us in this situation to begin with. Their technician then lunged at me to assault me, raising his fist and only because of his co-worker was he stopped, telling me to "F*** OFF!" in our place of residence. Of course, he escalated the situation. I reached out to their manager moments later only to be put on hold for 10mins and then told that the supervisor would return my call in 5-10 mins. An hour later I had to call them to demand to speak with the supervisor who then tried to place fault on me for raising my voice with his technicians. The lack of accountability and responsibility was egregious. Only after I called him out on this, did he mention he was going to write them up and never allow them back to our residence. He admitted that this was in fact a major annual inspection, but Total Access Elevator had not informed our building's management nor residents prior to repairs, putting our lives at risk. Later after I informed our manager that it was a major annual inspection, that same supervisor David attempted to mischaracterize the events of what happened telling our manager to the effect of that we had only been in there "30 seconds" and again reiterated that it was because of my raised voice that the incident escalated and his worker had de-escalated the situation. How attempting to assault resident in their building and screaming at them to "F*** Off!" is somehow de-escalation defies any sense of logic and is void of accountability. They are extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and don't communicate properly. If could give them a ZERO star I would.

Our HOA building has used total access elevator for many years. I do not have any complaints about…read morethe quality of their work. They have serviced our elevator just fine. My issue was the cost of their non-routine service calls. When our elevator went out on a non-holiday Saturday afternoon we were charged $850 per hour...not just for the service call time when they were working on the elevator, but for travel time from their location to our building. $850 an hour for travel time. Anybody using them should just be aware that if something goes wrong and they need to come out on a Saturday afternoon it will be likely close to $2000.
