    Our meal
    Bigg R.

Read some reviews here about this place . I was disappointed to say the least . I'll start with what I was attracted to this place for . FISH AND CHIPS. Fish seamed to be fresh , portioned smaller than expected for price comparisons. The fry's , well let's just say they were probably the best part of our meal , and they're the skinny frozen bag fry's , doesn't say much about our meal huh! The tarter sauce was a 6 out of 10. Battered fish (fish and chips ) 6.5 out of 10. My wife ordered fried fish tacos and grilled fish tacos . WOW! the tacos had lettuce and shredded cheese ! ‍ ( no white sauce ) The grilled fish tacos "" had teriyaki sauce on the shrimp! !! With lettuce and shredded cheese as well. Oh my oh my! I ordered a ( cup ) of clam chowder ( just to taste it) .... final disappointment. Did have some kind of taste to it , but it seamed to be water based . ZERO creamyness to it! Last my little was not hungry , so we ordered he a grilled cheese, sad ( two pieces of bread with cheese) zero butter , zero flavor . We will never be returning to this location , and I'm sad for this review because the ladies there seemed very nice but I was terribly disappointed. I'm sorry ... Overall, for a sea food place so close to the ocean in Oxnard.. ( clam chowder at red lobster is 100 times better ) just saying . 5 or of 10 for us .

While Oxnard is famous for its amazing Mexican food, I believe it's also a hidden gem for great seafood. Otani's is a prime example. This homegrown seafood joint has been serving Oxnard for ages, and they make one of my favorite fish and chips. The fish is battered tempura style, giving it a perfect crunch and tasty batter. Pair that with an amazing tartar sauce, what could go wrong? My wife tried the snapper plate and loved it. The snapper was cooked to perfection, and the teriyaki sauce complemented it beautifully. My son had the teriyaki bowl and enjoyed it just as much. The grilled chicken was flavorful with a delightful crunch, and he gobbled it up. If you're in the 805 and craving some great seafood, Otani's is definitely worth a visit.

    Side of Calamari

Your food is made to order so you can expect to have freshly cooked fried or grilled plates. Calamari is definitely something I would order again. Would opt for more rice if you're a heavily rice lover (husband is Filipino and he inhaled the rice with extra fish lol!) the salad that came with our plate lacked flavor and zing that you'd expect. the zucchini tempura is my favorite out of the veggies, hoping to get just a side of that only next time. Service is friendly and helpful. Restaurant was a bit stuffy when we dined in. Maybe leaving doors open or running the ceiling fan if there's no AC would help make patrons a bit more comfy. We went on a pretty hot day and were sweating by the end of the meal.

What a little hidden find! Great seafood. Family owned and operated since 1952. Excellent service. A must try when you're in the area. It's a cozy little casual vibe. Order at the counter and find your spot!

Welp... my heart is a bit broken. I grew up going to this place when I was a little girl. I'm pretty sure every other Oxnardian can say the same. This place is bigger than I remember!!! I do remember the coolest little convenience store in the inside. You can buy snacks and drinks on one side. This place has always had a cool vibe and great service. This hasn't change one bit! What has changed??? The rice... remember, that yummy "sticky" rice you would get at Otanies? If you know, you know! This is why my heart is broken. Where did it go? On the other hand, the shrimp tempura... that batter they use is DELICIOUS!!! I could've just said, "hold the salad and rice and give me allll the shrimps!!!" They made that with love!!! Go in and try this place out if you're a local. FYI... they don't serve clam chowder on Wednesday

    Anastacia M.

Fresh fish in a variety of styles including fish tacos and fish plates. They also have an excellent clam chowder. Conveniently located near Heritage Square, this is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Family owned and operated with historical photos on the wall, this place is a part of Oxnard history.

I've been coming here for over 10 years! If I'm ever in the area I try to always stop by. Sweetest staff! The food is amazing, there's a lot to choose from and equally yummy! There's a good amount of sitting area inside and if you need to do takeout you can always call! There's a lot of street parking and as well as a small lot on the side.

This is supposed to be a New England style clam chowder... this is nasty.

I love the cooked ready to eat food options at this market. My local one only has a tamale guy but here they had that and another 10 vendors of ready to grab bites. I'd been doing Instacart orders from them but first time physically inside this weekend to check them out. The inside was super super clean. Major points there! In the time I was shopping around they had plenty of staff working, floors being mopped and all of the aisles were well organized and pretty. This market is a pretty standard Asian goods focused grocery store. I found about 85% of what I wanted here. I wish they had a premium sushi section and some more Hawaiian imported goods (aside from juices and sauces) but otherwise I was able to find everything I was looking for. Their hot bar is also solid. A wide selection of items to pick and I felt the pricing was reasonable. Actually throughout the whole store the prices are good compared to other grocery stores right now. I had a full bag of items for $50, good luck elsewhere getting those kinds of prices. I didn't have too much of an interaction with the staff while there, but again, lots of people working and keeping this spot in tip top shape. Also the woman working the register who checked me out was very nice. A great supermarket and I'll definitely be back more often now since checking them out.

Through out the night there was free gifts, contests and lots of dancing. Overall fun family event to enjoy. Seafood City is located in a strip mall. Lots of free parking. I occasionally shop here for speciality asian items that I couldn't find at Island Pacific. Prices are a bit steeper here. Service is decent here, for both the food court and supermarket.

Super friendly and welcoming, and the gentleman at the register gave great recommendations. He knew the menu well and was able to help me out with some suggestions. Honestly, the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose, but here's what I went with: Fish & Chips (2 piece plate): 5/5. The batter was light yet perfectly crispy, not overly heavy, and the fish itself was fresh, flaky, and high quality. Paired with a solid tartar sauce, this is a must order dish. The French fries were classic and I loved their coleslaw. Grilled Thresher Shark Plate: 4.5/5. This one was a standout for me given how hard it is to find shark on menus nowadays.
