We were excited to try this new Italian restaurant but unfortunately we had a bad dining experience. Food was good but service was terrible! Our server was there and then she wasn't! Couldn't find her when we finally did she apologized and she explained she was on a phone call! Really? I asked for water and ice 3 times! We finally ordered and like I said food was tasty but service really lacked. One other thing that bothered me about this establishment is being an Italian restaurant it's really unfortunate that there is no bread brought out to the table before the meal, my understanding is if you want bread they charge you for it. Why not charge more for the meal and bring out the bread basket, we are at an Italian restaurant we need bread! I know it's relatively new but Osteria Mia needs much improvement before I go back! read more

My wife and I went here for our anniversary. A few people at my work mentioned it and so we went. The servers are what saved this place for me. Polite and gave recommendations since it was our first time. We got the truffle fries, arancini, margherita pizza and the tiramisu. We were going to get pasta because I read it was hand made. When we sat down the waitress told us about the pre made pasta. So it was a little confusing so we went with pizza hoping it was a safe bet. The truffle fries were pretty much McDonald fries with no seasoning. Relying heavily on the "truffle aioli" which there was minimal on them. My wife thought it was basically mayo squirted on them. The Arancini texture wise was pretty solid just a little bland for my taste but overall the best thing we ordered. The pizza was cooked alright but the basil appeared to be old leafs mixed with new ones and just big leaves on there instead of cut which I've seen on other pictures of theirs on google. When you look at other pictures of what people have got from them on google ours seem to have lacked any purpose when being made. The tiramisu to me seemed to be similar to one you could buy at a grocery store. The place was clean when we went there was about 3 tables being used. We enjoyed a good Friday evening meal for the first time here at Osteria Mia in Surprise, AZ. I noticed when walking in that the seating here is very open with a cafeteria feel. There's not much to absorb noise, with no walls or noise-absorbing surfaces. There are tables and long booth seating as well as high back chairs and tables, and bar seating. Patio tables as well. This spot was packed on a Friday night and everyone seemed to be loving it here. We were told by the hostess it would be a 20-30 minute wait to be seated but got taken to a table in around 10 minutes. We had a great server, Stephanie! She was cheerful and fun. She gave me recommendations and helped me decide on a main course too. We ordered: - MEATBALLS to share to start - POMODORO, PARMIGIANO, CROSTINI. Decent tender meatball. Really enjoyed the marinara with fresh garlic flavor. Drool. - CAMPANELLE x2 - GRILLED CHICKEN, CREMINI MUSHROOMS, PEAS, RED WINE DEMI CREAM SAUCE, PECORINO. I absolutely loved this dish! Full of flavor. I adore peas and pasta. I also love mushrooms and pasta - a prefect marriage. Every bite of pasta was delicious. It tasted homemade. I asked Stephanie and she said that yes, indeed, the pastas are all made in house with exception to the gluten free pasta and the gnocchi. Hubs said that this dish didn't have enough flavor for him. We ordered for take out because not everyone in the family was feeling well so I can't comment on the dining in experience, however the restaurant looked roomy and clean! I ordered the Short Rib Radiatore, Campanelle, Lupara, Americano Pizza, & the Truffle Fries. When I arrived, our orders had just came out so they were ready just on time as communicated to me over the phone. All were big portions, and the entrees tasted really good! Kept hearing about this new restaurant from friends in Sun City Festival. Our server, PM B, was extremely attentive and both the food and wine were very good! We ordered the focaccia bread and it was the best focaccia we've ever had; not hard like a brick or over seasoned, just a great texture and flavor. The Truffle Hill Chardonnay was so good, the correct temperature and they offered us a taste prior to ordering. We so appreciated that. Calamari was nicely done and the Tagliatelle Bolognese was delicious as well. The entire staff had a refreshingly enthusiastic attitude. We visited this new Osteria Mia location about two weeks ago and were very impressed. Our server, Janelle, took great care of us and answered our various questions about the menu. We started off with the focaccia and the arancini. Both came out fairly quickly and were a hit. The sauce that topped the arancini was heavenly and made me want to get something with a red sauce for my entree. As such, I ordered the lasagna, which Janelle assured me was a great choice. It was a hearty slice and tasted amazing. My mother was really happy with her dish as well. We did not try a pizza with this visit, but we definitely plan to return and sample more of the menu. read more

The service, atmosphere and food were good. Place is very clean. Although I wouldn't recommend the stuffed artichokes, the rest is fantastic. We had focaccia, campanelle pasta from the dinner menu and the pasta forcing. It was a delicious. Pasta is all homemade and al dented. You can ask for the pasta to be cooked more if you want, but we were happy. The bread was to die for and the dipping oil was good. The pastas had some of the best sauce flavors I have had on the west side of the valley. For dessert we had Chocolate Gelato and Ricotta cheesecake. Both were devoured quickly. read more

This isn't "authentic" Italian food, as some claim. It's barely an Olive Garden, without free breadsticks. lol. Don't order orecchiette expecting it to be anything close to authentic. And if they want to at least try to be authentic, help the staff with how to pronounce their menu items. Wasn't absolutely horrible, but not good enough for us to ever go back here. read more

Finally a place in surprise that makes fresh pasta and mozzarella daily. Food is incredible. This is the family owned business we should support. Been several times already and had some amazing dishes. Lasagna is top notch as well as the pizzas and pastas. Recommend the burrata appetizer and arancini to start with. Came in for dinner while visiting town for the weekend. Nice environment, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. they stated everything was made in house as a scratch Italian kitchen. I had the braised rib pasta. Very flavorful and tender excellent choice. The only reason why they do not get five stars and it was a little disappointing that if you're going to be a homemade and house kitchen, you have to be able to have fresh bread. Amazing from the very beginning before we ever got there!! We set a reservation for 6:00, but after a few people in our party had trouble figuring out if that would work, we decided to change the reservation (on a Thursday) to 6:30. They more than accommodated. Reservation set for 6:30!! Perfect! Half the party arrived 20 minutes early and that wasn't a problem. They made sure the table as ready and sat the first few to arrive. Offered drinks and apps and were super friendly!! Once everyone arrived, the great service continued. Our server, Jennifer, was amazing!!! She was very attentive and if she happened to be busy, the manager brought out shots we ordered and checked on us. All the food was AMAZING!!!! We got some apps (bruschetta board, fried mozzarella, & meatballs) and they were so good! Entrees were enjoyed by everyone...no one had a single complaint. Even the 4-year old, who tasted what was on everyone's plate, gave a huge smile and double thumbs up!!! I do wish there was an option to add extra protein to a dish, and maybe there is; we just didn't ask. The staff was amazing. The food was amazing. The drinks were amazing!! I took 5 out of town ladies there Saturday. They were out of my wife's favorite wine. The manager apologized after my wife gave him a piece of her mind. They all ordered the sea bass. They all finished it and thought it was great. I ordered the linguine with clam sauce. It was the worst I have ever had. At 94, I had had a lot. It was tasteless and the linguine was square and undercooked. The chalky taste was horrible.. I will never order this again. I will give then 4 stars for the fish. read more

Went here after all of the great reviews we had seen. Maybe since we are celiac makes the experience different but not really. For starters not many appetizers for gluten allergies. Sad was sad for 8bucks gone in 4 or 5 bites. Ranch was very good but again very small salads. Pasta came out and was ok but for 25 dollars ridiculously over priced. Pasta was to have veggies in it had maybe 4 pieces of squash 1 teaspoon of peas and 6/7 trips of bell pepper. Looked like a frozen dinner for sure. For an authentic Italian restaurant I would have expected more sadly and spent around 100 for 2 peoples salad and pasta. Service was good and nice environment but definitely will not be back for the price, value or taste of this place. If you can't have gluten save yourself the trouble and money. We have dined as Osteria Mia for brunch, lunch and dinner. Every time we have, the service and food has been exceptional. The ambiance and esthetic are perfect. Each server we have had, has always been able to answer our questions along with giving us suggestions on food and wine pairing. When we moved here it was hard to find authentic Italian food that we were used to and Osteria Mia has brought that to the West Valley! We always take friends and family there that visit and all of them agree that Osteria Mia has excellent food and fairly priced. Went there after looking at pictures online of wood fired pizza unfortunately surprise restaurant uses a regular oven and the pizza was about as good as the frozen ones at Costco. My friend and I recently visited Osteria Mia in Surprise, AZ, which opened two weeks ago. The space is incredibly large with high ceilings, and everything was spotless, including the restrooms. The service was friendly and good. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, which was superb - perfectly cooked and balanced. However, for $19, the portion was surprisingly small, barely more than a tasting sample. To make matters worse, it came with nothing else, not even bread or a side salad. My friend ordered a similar dish, which had a slightly larger portion, but wished they had offered soup or salad with it. I hope they reconsider their price-to-portion ratio and offer something on the side so you don't feel like they are nickel and diming you to death! read more

Place was hopping on a Saturday between 430-600 pm. The Surprise location has only been open 9 weeks per our waitress, I suspect they'll only improve. I had the lasagna which was suppose to have bechamel sauce. NO. the waitress said they use bechamel cheese between the layers of pasta. NEVER heard of bechamel cheese. Was very disappointed and my friend had the Americana Pizza (which is pepperoni pizza) Crust was burnt and some slices only had 2-3 very small slices of pepperoni.
