Fantastic food and even better service. This is a casual family friendly dining spot. Lots of room inside. I enjoyed the lunch portion of chicken Parmesan. Perfectly crispy on the outside with sauce and mozzarella cheese on top. We also loved the salmon. Lots of italian wine options, beer, cider and craft cocktails. My family tried this place (8-21-26) on a whim because it isn't a chain, and seemed interesting. We will not be going back unfortunately. The amount of time spent waiting all together was not equivalent to the quality of food. There was an insect inside one of my family members dishes... when brought up to wait staff all they would offer was a dessert on the house... The food sounds wonderful and looks delicious on the website menu and throughout reviews, I personally do not believe that they reflect it in the experience had from today. I had gotten the Alfredo chicken pizza. There was a hearty amount of oil leaking off of each slice, and I feel as if it didn't taste like Alfredo, and the chicken had an off sense attached to it. Ordered a pizza through the online toast company they make you use. Tried to have it delivered. What a mess! Driver was slow so they called me. Told me I could pick it up or cancel it. Said I'd come get it. Was almost there then they call me saying the drivers there now. I was so close just got it myself. They gave me a free desert for the hassle but it was frozen and the worse tiramisu I've ever had. Pizza was cold and mid pizza. Really one dimensional flavors. Not worth the price. Was then harassed by drivers texting and calling me saying the restaurant hadn't closed the order. Paid 9.99 for a delivery I never got, tip for no one that ever delivered it, and had to drive there myself. Not once offered a refund for those. Never going back read more

My sister has been in the hospital for almost a week and was tired of hospital food, so I offered to go get her something and bring it back for her. She said she loved the lasagna at Modo Mio so I drive across the valley and was there right when they opened at 11am, first person in the door, and ordered a lasagna to go. I had them split the order and out in two containers because it was large and she said she could only eat half. My husband and I had never been here before so we tried the lasagna and were not impressed, hardly any cheese, no flavor to the sauce and the noodles were hard. Brought the other half to my sister and she said it didn't taste like she remembered, something was off. Then to make matters worse she found two huge pieces of hair in her meal. Disgusting. It made her gag and she throw up into her bowl. She tossed the rest in the garbage. I was so upset I called the restaurant immediately, talked to the girl who answered the phone and also spoke with a manager. They said sorry, couldn't refund my money and simply wrote down my name and number and said if I ever came back they'd give me another lasagna for free. Four of us tried Modo Mio last night, and we were not disappointed. The menu is very extensive, and it took some time to decide what to order. I especially like that you can mix and match the pasta with the sauce. For example, I ordered the Aglio e Olio with the capellini pasta. I could have chosen spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, or rigatoni instead, but I love capellini. This was the best Aglio e Olio I have ever had! It wasn't oily, and it had chili pepper flakes, just enough for flavor but not too spicy. It was a fairly large portion, but I managed to eat it all. If you want a side salad there is an extra charge of $4.50. My friends all enjoyed their entrees as well. I want to return and try the pizza, because I saw some really delicious-looking pizzas at other tables. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back. read more

The first time we went here the atmosphere was great, playing authentic music and the food was homemade and tasty. I had my sister get me some of the homemade lasagna that my husband and I shared the first time we went there. The first trip, we fell in love with the homemade goodness of the lasagna. Fresh ingredients and a ton of cheeses, meats and sauce with soft lasagna sheets, yet al dente and there was a ton of flavor. The lasagna she brought me was obviously leftover from the day before and not freshly made. The pasta was crunchy, and chewy and there wasn't any of the ricotta or meat ingredients or flavor. On top of everything else, there was a hair in it. Gross! It was a total waste of $22 and they refused to refund my purchase. I didn't think the experience would be so hugely disappointing. I've been in the hospital for 5 days and I'm still in here. I chose Modo Mio as my "first meal" and it was a fat ZERO. Do not go here. The inconsistency and poor quality of the food and the lack of business sense (not refunding my money) deserves no more of our hard earned money and patronage. read more

Our second experience with this restaurant, our first time was for takeout (see my other review) and this one was eat in. One step inside and the wonderful smell of an Italian restaurant immediately tells you this is a great place We had their newest addition to the pizza choices, a capricciosa that reminded us of one we often had at Bottega Pizzeria before it closed and we loved it. Went in at 5 o'clock on a week night- We were sat right away and had our servers attention right away too. The place smells so good like fresh dough and pizza. I had the 10" pizza with black olive and my partner had a meatball sandwich. Both were great. I think the server forgot to bring us some sort of starting bread because it was brought at the same time as the meals. Oh well it was good. This place is a hidden gem The service is AWESOME!! Niki is so sweet and personable. She is on top of things and ensures the table is taken care of. The owner, is just as nice and personable sharing the story of how he opened up this restaurant. They are evolving and look forward to see what they do next. Really awesome Italian food and just what I was looking for. I will admit that Italian is NOT my favorite type of cuisine, but lately I have been wanting stuffed shells with ricotta and a meat sauce for some reason and what do you know? Modo Mio has it! We had also heard they had a really good hot honey pepperoni pizza and wanted to try that as well. Lastly, I wanted to try their friend calamari. We got all of those dishes (plus my husband got the carbonara) and it was all SO good! I really enjoyed my food and it was all so tasty and delicious. The calamari was stellar; it was not rubbery like some seafood can be. It was perfectly cooked and the spicy calabrian sauce was perfectly paired. I LOVED my stuffed shells! I know this might be dramatic but I almost cried when eating it because if you have ever thought about a meal and how you wanted it and then it lived up to expectations instead of being a downer, you KNOW how good of a feeling that is! The hot honey pizza was also really good. They have great ranch too and while I didn't get wings this time, it's on my list for next time because I think the ranch will pair very well with them. The vibes inside are nice and cozy and it is pretty casual, but I like that. The service was outstanding! I asked for a few modifications of things (no lemon wedge on the calamari, meat sauce added to the shells, ranch with the calamari, hot honey on half the pizza) and everything was correct! The server and the girl she was training were awesome too. They checked on us multiple times, chatted with us, made good conversation, and were just really kind and friendly and made the experience great. We will definitely be back! I wanted a good Italian restaurant for our anniversary. A friend suggested Modo Mia. Average ambience, chairs and tables, nothing special. Found a table quickly. Our server was energetic and helpful. Appetizers were very good. Wife had an excellent Chicken alfredo. It was very good,. I wanted pizza,,,, this is not the restaurant for a pizza snob, like myself. Their supreme pizza was a oven baked, thin crust pizza. I ordered extra italian sausage and pepperoni. The italian sausage were crumbles, and I did not see a generous, extra portion. I asked for a basil, tomato base. We could not see any basil or sauce. To ramp up the sauce I asked for a bowl to italian spaghetti sauce to dip my slices in, and I got a bowl of tomato soup. ehh,,,,, way underwhelming. Listen to me carefully... this pie is f***ing criminal. I'm talkin' "should require a permit to serve this kinda heat" level. Soon as I opened the box, I knew I was in trouble. This thing looked like it got flown in first class straight outta Naples--perfect crust, bubbles, char, everything dialed in like somebody's Nonna was in the back yellin' at people to get it right. And me? I got no discipline. None. I folded that slice like a true degenerate and took a bite so big I damn near dislocated my jaw. Instant chaos. ricotta, meatballs, basil, sauce, pepper flakes--BOOM. Flavor hit me like a Ferrari. Next thing I know, I'm four slices deep, sittin' there in silence, just noddin' to myself like, "Yeah... this is how I go out." Absolute gavone behavior. The spice from the red chili flakes? Perfect. Not cute, not polite--just enough to let you know who's in charge. The basil? Fresh as hell, jumpin' in like it's got somethin' to prove. The whole pie was just... disrespectful. And of course I paired it with a couple...alright, three--glasses of red wine like I'm some kinda classy piece of s***. Didn't help. Just made me eat slower so I could suffer longer. Am I goin' back? I was very impressed with this little Italian kitchen!! I ordered Chicken Parmesan, garlic bread and a key lime cannoli to go. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. It came with three large pieces! I got the Crema Rosa sauce which was good but not enough on the pasta for my preference. It was hard to truly taste it. The garlic bread was fantastic!! The cannoli was exceptional! Portions are large and the service is outstanding!! Currently you order at the counter but they are working toward full service. I was looking for a place close to home to celebrate my hubby's birthday. So glad we chose this place. It's truly a "hidden gem" with the construction next door. Small, personal, excellent staff. The food - ahmazing!!! Garlic knots, calamari and 4 different pasta dishes that were all excellent. The owner shared that they didn't make their own pasta, but everything else. Light and tasty olive oil sauces, beautiful and tasty piccata, light and tasty linguini and clams. Both of the salads we shared were fresh with great dressings. There are at least 4 more items on the menu I want to try. Their take out/Door Dash business exceeded their eat/in business. There was constant traffic in and out the door. I love this place. So nice to have this restaurant in Peoria. 4th time here tonight and had their new bread with dipping sauce and the new salmon dinner special. Wow! Delicious. This weekend we were all wanting something a bit different and trying to decide where we'd all be happy. Half my family always wants pizza and I'm just over it, but when I came across Modo Mio I knew there would be plenty of things to choose from. When we cloaked in it was empty. We were in between late lunch and start of dinner. Instantly we were told by a girl at the counter they don't do table service for lunch so we had to order at the counter. They do bring you the food etc though once ordered No big deal we sat with the menus as we decided. My husband and I always go back and forth about trying a meatball sub places, but I'm always on the fence as they just don't look or sound good to me. Today though after looking over fellow reviewers I kept seeing theirs over and over. To me that tells me it's going to be good. I ordered it off their lunch special with a side salad. We agreed if awful he'd split his personal pizza with me and eat the other half ha ha . Deal. We also ordered another personal pizza and more wings off the lunch special for my daughter. Well, too bad for my husband because I ate that entire meatball sub lol. The bread was toasted and a bit crispy, good sauce to meat ratio and cheese ooey and gooey. My side salad was fresh and I was glad my dressing came on the side so I could add as little or much as I wanted. Prices were fair for the lunch specials, Service was ok, but I'd of liked if they'd been a bit more friendly at walk in instead of the instant ...dining in, no table service comment.... Been to Modo Mio three times -once during original opening about two years ago, second last week with the Corte Bella Romeo Men's Lunch Group, and third tonight for Valentine Dinner via carry out. The current owners have made significant improvements in food and menu variety. Our Romeos group had primarily the lunch pasta combo including lasagna. We all agreed the food was good. Our server did a super job with nine guys. My wife and I had a carry out dinner with Caesar Salad (anchovies added), Chicken Piccata/Lasagna, and Limencello Cake /Cheese Cake. Have to mention that the garlic bread is delicious. Garlic puffs are also good. Desserts were delightful. Order was ready on time. Nothing missing. I know the new owners are planning some changes. If your hungry this is not the place for you! The food was great but portion size will feed a child. When you get chicken piccata you expect to get at least 2 pieces I got 1 1/2 if that because it was cut into 3 thin little pieces. I was fine because I eat child size portions but most would be very upset with portion size. As I said the food was good but if you are going to charge $24 at least give 2 pieces of chicken. We thought we were going to a restaurant but it was really a pizzeria with teenagers working there but we figure we would give it a shot anyway.
