4.5 stars to be exact. 5 star service, 5 star food, 5 star drinks. So why 4.5? I'll explain below... We enjoyed an amazing evening bellied up to the bar. Adam was our host, server and bartender. Huge shout out to Adam, thank you for an amazing evening! He made us his house old fashioned and espresso martini, both perfectly mixed. He gave us recommendations for apps, for mains, and even for other restaurants we'd love in the area. He made the evening special all on his own. We started with salmon carpaccio. Wow! The most tender and thin pieces of salmon, topped with arugula and dressing. This dish is one that will be remembered for the long haul. Then a pesto mushroom homemade gnocchi, and a squid ink pasta with scallops, calamari and shrimp. Two outstanding dishes. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars, and no fault of their own, was the temperature inside. We went in the middle of August on a 90+ degree day with insane humidity. We walked inside and it was hot. They had fans running. I asked if there was an issue with their HVAC, and the manager told us it's out of their hands. It's their "established" owner who runs the show when it comes to building ordinance and temp. Sitting in the bar area with the air moving was perfectly comfortable. But it was a different story in the back room away from the fans and moving air, where we were first seated. If you're here in the heat of the summer, make sure to get the 5 star experience in the bar area. This is a non issue the rest of the year. Regardless, come and enjoy the 5 star food and 5 star service. You won't be disappointed! read more

My first time at Osteria was an ok experience. The restaurant is tucked away, but very comforting upon entering. I went during lunch hours (11am-2pm) and with the small amount of people there, the place felt understaffed as the hostess was also the waitress for multiple tables. For a starter I had the polenta bolognese. Now the polenta had no taste , but the bolognese was very good, and was the only special thing about it. For entree I had their ribeye. Now their ribeye was served with chimichurri which is what sold me, but once again another item that was bland. I had a nice time, but what I ordered wasn't impressive at all. Maybe this was a case of me just ordering the wrong thing and I'm willing to try it again, but this experience wasn't a great as I thought it would've. read more

We made reservations as we were not sure if it would be busy, but I do recommend making reservations as it got full pretty quickly. We were greeted and sat right away as our reservation was at 7pm on a Friday. The restaurant appeared to be clean with white linen tables and dim lighting. They have plenty of seating as there is another dining room behind the hostess stand. Water and bread were brought to our table right away. Although it appeared to be limited wait staff, service was attentive and timely. We ordered wine right away while the waiter named off the extensive list of specials. We ended up starting with a soft shell fried crab as an appetizer. My first time ever trying and it and was pretty tasty. A bit greasy, but very good and the sauce that came with it complimented it very well. For our main entrees we ordered the Lamb shank over risotto with a red wine reduction sauce. The lamb fell off the bone, as it should, and was so flavorful. Our second entree was the gnocchi pesto. -By the way all their pasta is made in house.- The sauce was very creamy and flavorful. However, I do not recommend taking it home. The leftover sauce does not reheat well and the oil separates. (Emulsion) While dinner was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed, we decided we would order a sorbet for a light finish to our amazing dinner. We ordered the Mango Guava Sorbetto- a tropical frozen dessert made from pureed mango and guava. It's consistency is rich and smooth like Italian gelato, but dairy-free like a sorbet. After alternating between Quaintance-Weaver restaurants and Undercurrent for the past few years, we finally made our way back to Osteria for a New Year's Eve meal. It ended up being even better than I remembered. Part of that was ambiance: being seated in the less crowded, tastefully appointed side room made for a more comfortable dining experience. Both service and food remained excellent. Taylor was professional and polite, and we never had to wait long for water refills. For this visit, I went with the Black Tagliolini Fra Diavlo, my wife opted for the Strozzapreti, and we split the Bomba for dessert. The pastas were cooked perfectly: softer than al dente but nowhere near mushy. While the fra diavlo's sauce was rather mild, the dish as a whole was very, very good. Copious amounts of seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, and a lobster tail) sat atop a nest of squid ink pasta. The strozzapreti featured long twists of pasta (an underrated shape) in a meat sauce that managed to be hearty and creamy without feeling too heavy. The bomba (chocolate and vanilla gelato with a cherry and almond center and a chocolate shell) was served affogato, and watching the hot espresso melt everything into a swirl of deliciousness was half of the dish's appeal. Provided that your vision of Italian isn't limited to classic red sauce fare, Osteria remains one of the best Italian restaurants Greensboro has to offer. My only regret is that it took us so long to come back here. read more

It was our first time at Osteria Italian restaurant. It was a Saturday night and a large crowd was there. All of the tables are packed pretty close together, but they made it work. Our main server was Charlie who I guess has been there a long time. Not sure if he was having a bad night or that was just his personality, but we didn't get the warm and fuzzy. We finally had the ability to try Osteria Italian Restaurant on Westover Terrace. It was a date night, so we reserved a table for two, yes, they take reservations, and had a chance to experience the atmosphere and their cuisine. The first thing I will say is that the staff is friendly and attentive. There was never a moment where we needed something that someone wasn't nearby and already serving us. Osteria has a varied menu that includes fish and steaks and more continental faire. We wanted our first meal to be one focused on some Italian classics. We split a Panzanella Salad which is mixed greens, polenta croutons, red onion, chopped Kalamata olives, capers, grape tomatoes, and a delightful balsamic dressing with a hint of citrus. This salad was a bright and fresh start to the meal. It is big so sharing it was easy. We both had generous portions. For the main course, my wife ordered Pappardelle Salmon and I had the Seafood Ravioli. The pappardelle was done perfectly. The wider noodles were tender without being mushy. The salmon is served shredded, and not a complete fillet. This was not an issue because the salmon was not overdone, and it was very flavorful. The sauce is an olive oil base, and we were told it was would be a little soupy. That did not mean it was overpowering, just that there was going to be a level of moisture in the dish when it did not have a cream or red sauce. The sun-dried tomatoes and Portabella rounded out the flavor profile. You could taste and appreciate each element of this dish. My seafood ravioli was very satisfying. It consisted of five large ravioli. The seafood stuffing provided some wonderful notes of lobster and crab. The base was a tomato cream sauce that complemented rather than overpower. For dessert we shared a chocolate soufflé with vanilla gelato. The soufflé had that wonderfully warm and gooey chocolate center that paired really well with the gelato. It was the perfect end of what was a really well presented and beautifully prepared meal. Osteria is an excellent choice for a date night as it has a warmly decorated and lit dining room that gives off a calm vibe. To me this restaurant is a must try, especially if you're craving Italian food. Of course as I mentioned they also have a wide array of seafood and meat dishes as well. read more

We decided to come back after several years last night because our first experience was wonderful. Last night was disappointing unfortunately. We ordered the lasagna and seafood ravioli. The lasagna was so salty that my husband couldn't eat it. The ravioli was ok, but the sauce was so thin and tasted like velveeta. If I could give more than five stars I would! We dined here for lunch but I am already making plans for a dinner date! You know it's good when once the food started coming I completely forgot that the phone eats first! We started with Parmesan meatballs and beef carpaccio. For the entrée I enjoyed Grilled wild salmon and my friend ordered gnocchi. We rounded out the meal with crème brûlée for dessert. For such a small restaurant there is plenty of seating and somehow it does not seem crowded at all. Nice music and not a lot of noise from tables nearby. My only slight critique is that the server was a little overly attentive, coming back probably five or six times over the course of lunch not including the initial visit and bringing the check. My friend had a wedding reception here and it was amazing!! The food, service, and space were perfect!! The custom cocktails were perfectly poured. My glass was never empty. We were in a side room but had dedicated servers who met our every request- they even had a charging station if we needed it. The food was incredible. The polenta croutons on the caprese skewers were so good my daughter looked them up on TikTok mid dinner. For our entrees we had a delicious branzino in a lemon oil that was indescribably delicious- it had a nicely charred flavor. The chicken francese' was also amazing and the chef obliged my request for extra sauce. I believe you can often tell how good a restraint is based on how well they treat large parties and events - and this place gets number one on my book. read more

Made a reservation through OpenTable on a Saturday night. The vibe was off from the moment I entered. My wife was already seated while I parked the car. We were right by the door even though there were other open tables. There seemed to be just one waiter and a few people bussing and bartending. Waiter came over and apologized for the wait (there wasn't one but in hindsight - he was trying to calibrate expectations). We used to come to Osteria quite a lot - I even had Review of the Day on Yelp! I will say that when the food finally arrived, it was 5 star - if it wasn't cold or late. Service, if you could call it that, was horrible. I still tipped 25% but let's start: Bread - took forever to come Apps, soup, etc. came out whenever. Then there was the long, awkward pause. 30 minutes after our table was (eventually and not completely) cleared, out came the entrees. Mine was not that hot. We ate, took home leftovers and then ordered dessert. Well one of our two items came out - and the other an apple crisp with ice cream came out. The ice cream was cold but so was the apple crisp. Like room temperature for what supposed to be a hot dessert. Espresso came out prior to dessert (not with it) and...IT WAS COLD. The machine was 20 feet away but somehow the espresso sat and sat and sat. We 86'd the bad pie and had them remake the espresso. Our waiter told us some long winded story about how he got into a fight with the kitchen at lunch. Here's the thing, no one from management came over to apologize, no one checked on us. When the floor manager came in from outside he brought in all the smoke smell of his cigarette along with the cold air. This had to be one of our worst meals in Greensboro. Maybe it was Saturday and the waiters fighting with the kitchen but this is not our experience at Embur or Dolce Amora. The only reason it gets 2 stars is the food, when served at temperature, was excellent. We will NOT be back again. Off our list. We will still visit Embur but Osteria needs to figure out how to fix what is very broken. read more

Updating this place after going back after a long time. This is an amazing restaurant for really good Italian food and a really fantastic wine list. On top of that our server was on the ball the whole time we were there, with refilling water, wine, and keeping a check on everything. He didn't miss a beat. We were told to order appetizers, entrees and wine all together and they would bring it out in intervals. Their menu is fantastic, they also had a slew of specials which all sounded great. Server asked me if I'd like fresh black pepper and also offered me red crushed pepper. I took both. A great dish. My friends had the veal Parmesan which was a special and came with a side of spaghetti. A grand size portion, which my friend had plenty to take home. Authentic, rich and great flavor , my friend loved it. Other friend had the seafood ravioli, also a rich creamy dish, but great filled ravioli with lots of seafood. Freshly made. We had a lovely bottle of valpolicella, went well with our food. Dessert can't be missed either here, they have some wonderful choices, went with the one that caught my eye first, the chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream . Oh wow. Again a must, warm, freshly made, essentially a lava cake, filled with warm chocolate. This was a nice way to end a perfect meal. Definitely shareable. Very rich. One of my go to Greensboro restaurants for dinner and celebrations. I had no idea they were open for lunch. If your eating here for the first time- the lasagna is a must try!!! Looks can be deceiving, so just because it's located at a strip mall, does not mean it is not nice inside. We had reservations for 6:00 pm and were seated immediately; however, the owner kept apologizing because the hostess was not at the front desk, since she was sitting another party. We ordered takeout from Osteria tonight and they were nice enough to accommodate me ordering something off menu. I ordered risotto, a chicken and in addition a lobster risotto. When we got home, I was disappointed to see the risotto wasn't cooked all the way, and the portion was slightly smaller than I expected. With this order and the seafood risotto, our bill was $71. I'm just really disappointed with what I received and I chose to refire on my own stove to attempt to cook the risotto so I could enjoy my meal. The lobster risotto is also undercooked. This was a great place for a date night out. We did not bring our kid as it did look a little too upscale for a kid. The menu was great with many excellent choices. I had the oso bucco and my wife had the seafood ravioli. They did have a very nice wine last. We both had a Chianti. It was good with both our dishes. I'm very interested to come back and try other dishes as everything that came out looked fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxing and the noise volume was what you would expect in a higher end restaurant. There was a bar side and another side. We went on a not so busy day, but when we came in we were asked if we had reservations and when we said no, the server acted annoyed, but sat us in the back wedged between other patrons (although there were plenty of empty tables). It took a long time to get any kind of service- but we realized later there seemed to be only 3 people working, so we forgive that. Food was good, not spectacular. I cannot recall if there was music playing. The ambiance was kind of boring, looks old. Would not suggest to others but won't badmouth the place either. Hope their regulars keep coming. read more
