volcano crab + chicken hot pot combo
    Katrina T.

My friend and I came here on a Friday afternoon. We were so excited to try the famous raw marinated crab, and the chicken hot pot! Between the two of us, we did the crab and chicken hot pot combo. It honestly could've fed a party of four; however, because it was so delicious my friend and I basically finished the entire feast. I've had my fair share of raw crab in the past, but I must say this spot serves the best one I've ever had. It was perfectly salty, sweet, and spicy. It was extremely fresh and I'm definitely coming back here just for this again. The chicken hot pot on the other hand was very refreshing and paired well with the raw crab. The service is also tremendous - she would constantly come and check on us to ensure we were tended to! 10/10 would definitely be back again.

Osigye is an instant hit. Newly opened Korean whole chicken hot pot specialty restaurant with a unique twist on flavor with its option for basil pesto soup. Phenomenal. The flavor was rich and not overbearing. Chicken fell off the bone. Added kalguksu noodles were cooked just right. Highly recommend the Perilla leaf noodles. The owners were super kind and accommodating. They'll treat you right and make sure you're getting the best experience.

This place is on the top floor of Madang Plaza so it can be hard to find, but it's not to be missed! Their menu is very small but they only serve what they excel at making. We got the small size chicken hot pot, which as a group of 3 was perfect, and the spicy squid salad. The broth was delicious. It didn't require additional seasoning. It came with fresh kal guk su noodles, and they closely monitored the noodles to make sure they didn't overcook. As far as service goes, this was the best experience I had at a Koreatown restaurant. The staff was beyond attentive. We never had to ask for anything, and they went above and beyond to go out of their way to help us. We put all our bags on a chair and the staff was worried the soup from the hot pot would splash on our bags so they gave us a cubby to keep our bags safely in while we ate. My mom and cousin were also wearing white shirts, so they were given aprons. Since we weren't too familiar with the food, they took the time to explain the different sauces. They served the hot pot to us in individual bowls so we didn't have to serve ourselves.

    One spoon, please!

My review: 3.5 stars out of 5 I saw this restaurant on social media and immediately remembered my time in Korea last year, where they had an entire row of restaurants that served 닭한마리 (rough translation:one chicken). The restaurant is located in Madang Mall, on the third floor. When I arrived with my friend, there was no wait and we got seated fairly quickly; we arrived at about 6:00 ish on Saturday. The staff looked like they were running around everywhere and we were moved at one point because we were sitting right next to the entrance. We weren't served our banchan until our food came out, which was a bit odd, and our water cups were only given when we asked for them. Nevertheless, we ordered the basil chicken and the green onion pancake. The chicken was good and the basil made the experience alot more interesting. The pancake was also very good, extremely crunchy and perfectly seasoned. The inside of the restaurant was a bit hot and uncomfortable but not that bad. Overall, the staff looked fairly new and the restaurant was fairly busy, which was probably why our service wasn't the best, but the food definitely made up for it. Would definitely like to check them out again in the future!

I was craving a hearty/nourshing soup and this seemed like it would hit the spot. However, just as a previous reviewer mentioned, some of their items are not accurately portrayed on their menu. I ordered the Original Broth Korean chicken hot pot which serves 2-3 people. In the menu photo (attached in this review), it showed bokchoy/napa cabbage/mushrooms. However, none of that was brought out. The soup had onion, potato, green onion, rice cake, and kalguksu already inside the soup. The menu also showed two different dipping sauces and we were only provided one (a spicy gochujang-like sauce with chives). When I inquired about what was brought out, the waiter said that there has been some changes to the menu since they opened which did not make sense because they opened less than a month ago. If that's the case then they need to update their images so that customers aren't misguided. Another issue was the ratio of the ingredients. Though the menu said it fed 2-3 people, there was enough kalguksu for 1 person. I get that the soup had other ingredients but since this does not come with rice, it felt incomplete eating this without a substantial carb. The only other carb was a few rice cakes. Had we had a third person in my party, I don't think this would satisfy us. After the meal, you can choose to either have them make fried rice (extra $1.99) or make porridge (included in the meal cost). The positives to this meal was unlimited chicken broth and the generous portion of the meat. I did leave feeling full but it was mostly because I drank a lot of the broth. If I were to come back, I would only get the individual portion. I do not think this meal was worth $60+ for 2 people. Parking: Validated 3 hour parking.

Went here for a quick Boy's Lunch with a couple of coworkers after seeing a ton of Instagram Reels. Was not disappointed at all. Ordered the Dakhanmari with Oyster Salad combo and a side of buchupajeon. Food was delicious and filling. We all left full and teetering food-coma status satiated. The overall experience was amazing, and the service was attentive and helpful. The restaurant itself is on the third floor of the Madang Courtyard, so you get a pretty nice view of the courtyard or of the LA streets if you snag a window seat. Will be sure to come back with the family to try the volcano crab!

After hearing rave reviews about Osigye, my family and I finally tried it out. Coming in on a Tuesday night, there was no wait like there is on the weekends. We ordered the oyster salad, kimchi pancake, and signature chicken soup. In terms of flavor, the oyster salad was the most refreshing and catching. The sauce that comes with the chicken soup is quite horrible (it's just wasabi with a mild red pepper sauce). Because this soup is traditionally less seasoned, the dipping sauce is an important factor in completing the dish. We found ourselves eating the chicken with the jjangachi or pickled vegetable sauce that came as a side dish instead. Hopefully, they make changes to the sauce soon. The soup itself was pretty good. When we first ordered the kimchi pancake, it came out very burnt. We addressed this with our server and they kindly gave us a new one. The crisp on the outer edges is delicious, BUT the majority of the pancake is way too doughy. It almost has a rice cake texture that's not very appealing. Considering there aren't many or any places in Ktown that specialize in this dish (as far as I know), I do recommend Osigye overall! A nice try.

I ordered the lunch combo O and got the Basil Chicken Gomtang with the "Spicy Squid Salad" combo. The Basil Chicken Gomtang was actually very unique and surprisingly delicious. It was flavorful and honestly I liked it even more than regular chicken gomtang. The spicy salad was tasty too -- the chicken felt a little unexpected in it, but the seasoned radish was really good. ***** The reason I ordered this combo specifically was because I was craving SPICY SQUID SALAD. I normally don't eat a lot, but I intentionally chose the Chicken Gomtang + Spicy Squid Salad combo because the MENU said squid. However, there was literally no squid in it at all. When I asked, they told me it was actually a chicken salad instead. I explained that the menu specifically says squid salad and that was the reason I ordered it. They mentioned that their previous restaurant used to make it with squid, and then recommended I try the regular chicken gomtang next time instead. The response felt a bit disappointing. Also, when I switched from the regular chicken gomtang to the basil version, the staff changed the combo to the pancake combo pricing instead. I was a little confused because the regular and basil chicken gomtang are listed at the same price, and I assumed the combo price difference came from the side dish itself (squid salad vs. pancake). So it felt odd to pay the higher pancake combo price even though what I originally ordered was the squid salad combo. To be honest, I don't mind paying more if I'm getting what I actually wanted and enjoying the meal. But what I wanted was the squid salad listed on the menu. I know they're still newly opened, so hopefully the system/menu descriptions improve over time. The 3-hour parking validation was great, and the staff members were kind overall. But even though they were friendly, the way the situation was handled felt a little lacking.

Great spot for family style Korean comfort food. The chicken soup with pesto was surprisingly delicious, the pesto added a unique twist without overpowering the broth. The original chicken soup was simple and comforting. Perfect place to share a meal with family or friends.

This place is located in the Madang Mall on wilshire in koreatown. The restaurant is very clean and provides friendly service. They also validate for 3 hours. Foods and side dishes are neat and healthy taste.

I came here for lunch last week and the food and service were amazing! Our server was very helpful explaining the menu and different options. We really wanted to try the chicken hot pot but felt like it would be too much food for two people so we ended up ordering the lunch special chicken kalguksu which comes with a pancake and the oyster salad. The kitchen accidentally made us both pancakes so we got to try both the crispy bu chu jeon and the osigye pa-dak jeon. They were both really good! I really enjoyed the flavor of the kalguksu and you could tell that the chicken was very good quality. The highlight was definitely the oyster flower salad though, the sauce that it comes with is so addicting and I love the crispy chips you crack on top. We will definitely be back and highly recommend the spot to try! Restaurant is located on the third floor of the plaza and was very clean too!

On our latest visit we took the Metro, exited at Wilshire/Normandie Station, and walked 8 minutes over. The restaurant seems to have updated their décor to a more modern and new look since my last visit. Also they have introduced a lot of new menu items, so it felt like an appropriate time to update my review and renew my support for the business. On prior visits I have tried both the Clam Kalguksu ($22.99) and the Chicken Kalguksu ($22.99). Both are delicious depending on what protein you are craving. The broth is incredible soothing and great for a cold day or just anytime you need comfort food. The noodles are chewy and pillowy soft, it just melts in your mouth. When we arrived on our latest visit it was as busy and popular as I remembered. We were lucky that they were able to seat us right away. This latest visit my boyfriend and I tried new items from their menu. My boyfriend had the Tokmanuguk ($20.99) which has rice cakes, dumplings, beef, egg, and carrot in their anchovy broth. I had the Chicken Jook ($23.99) which is the Korean version of a chicken porridge that comes with half a small chicken, green onions, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, squash, onions and topped off with a smidge of sesame oil. Our meals came with a little palette cleansing introduction of barley rice. Just a few bites, but it sets up your tastebuds for the meal. They also had some side dishes for the table. The food took a while to come out, but understandable for how busy they are. This food is made with love and your patience will be rewarded. When it came, it was SO DELICIOUS! I tried a bit of my boyfriend's food and it was so comforting. Perfect for those who like the chewiness of the Korean rice cakes or dumplings. I just love my chicken porridge a little more cause I'm obsessed with porridge whenever I can get it. I love how much vegetables Koreans are able to hide in their porridge while making the veggies so tiny, you won't even notice it. So healthy, delicious, and soothing. It was like a hug for my soul. Also, the portion was huge and both my boyfriend and I had a portion togo that was the size of another meal. You can't go wrong with their food here. I definitely want to make an effort to come back more often. Until next time!

Me and friend started with drinks at the bar - I got the hwachae milk punch, a pretty pink sip! My friend got the espresso martini, their take made with cold brew soju, Korean coffee mix, and makgeolli. Both were fun, well-balanced ways to kick off the night. Their honey butter chips were pretty delectable - fresh-cut potato, fried until crunchy and airy, then drizzled with a honey butter glaze that channels those nostalgic honey butter chip snacks. The sauce was good but can definitely be a sweetness overload, so if you don't have a sweet tooth, I would avoid ordering. Got the pine nut cold noodles, which was refreshing on a summer day - white noodles in a chilled soy milk broth with pine nut. The pine flavor was pretty subtle, so if you're into that, definitely get this, but for me it was just okay. The pork jowl was delicious though - comes with chili crisp and garlic rice, and we ended up taking some home because we couldn't finish it all! Service was great - we sat at the bar and got to watch the bartender work and chat. Parking can be hit or miss; you can either park in the several garage structures around ktown or the small paid lot in the Danbi plaza, but we came on a Thursday night and it was still pretty busy. Overall, a 9/10 meal with good vibes, cute drinks, and delicious food. Already dreaming about trying the galbi next time I'm here!

We went for the DineLA menu. We had reservations and were immediately seated. Overall, the restaurant had a modern, relaxed vibe. Our server was very personable and helped me choose the Kimchi Mule, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The food started rolling out right away, beginning with the Honey Butter Potato Chips. They were good, but probably not something I would order again. Next came the kimchi watermelon and spicy sashimi noodles, and I was impressed with both. I had a hard time imagining what kimchi watermelon would taste like and was surprised by how much I liked it. The spicy sashimi noodles were the standout for me. I kept going back for another bite and would come back just for those. The Corn and Cheese Roll came out next along with the Pork Jowl. Both were good, although if I returned, I would probably try something different. Up until that point, everything had gone extremely well. The food came out at a good pace, people checked on us, our waters were refilled, and dishes were cleared almost as soon as we finished them. Then we waited. And waited some more. Our server kept apologizing and telling us, "The dessert is coming!" After at least 20 minutes, we started talking about simply leaving without it. I finally flagged down the host and asked if there was a problem in the kitchen because we had been waiting so long for the parfait. A few minutes later, he came back and explained that there was an issue involving the whipped cream. At that point I asked how much longer we were expected to wait. Eventually the parfait arrived, and I couldn't help thinking that we had waited close to half an hour for what amounted to a small dollop of whipped cream on top. To make matters worse, the dessert wasn't very good. We couldn't finish it. I left disappointed, especially because the rest of the meal had gone so well. I know the kitchen delay wasn't our server's fault, but I would have expected someone to proactively explain what was happening or offer us another dessert rather than leaving us sitting there wondering when--or if--it was coming.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today.
