The service here was absolutely subpar, especially for the price. Several people ahead of me has reservations that were not fulfilled. Then the servers were arguing with each other in front of us. It was severely understaffed with only 3 guys front of house with a full dining room. By the time we were sat (which we finally resorted to sitting at the bar) it took another 10 minutes to get a drink. Once we got our drink, it took another 15-20 minutes to put in an order. The food was plated beautifully and tasted pretty good. All-in-all, it was an ok experience. One I'm not sure I'll repeat. I'd like to be convinced to change my mind. read more

I really wanted to get my hands on one of their sushi rolls - the pictures look so dang tasty, but there wasn't a roll that included ALL the fixings I was desiring, so I instead settled on trying the Gunkan "appetizer". The roll was held together with thin strips of cucumber. Everything had its own flavor component, and was super fresh. The veggies were crisp and juicy; the small pieces of avocado were so good! The light drizzle of the mono-mono I don't know what kind of soy sauce is used here, but it was a flavor punch without being too salty. It was perfect for dipping (and I've been to places where their soy sauce is cheap and tastes like a salt brine). A special shoutout to the one sushi chef who happily weighed out the portions of the ingredients in my Gunkan, since I'm tracking my calories. Note to all: There weren't many patrons for 5:30 on a Friday nite, so there was a draft swirling about; with no physical bodies to help divert the cool air, it was almost unpleasantly chilly in the space. read more

This was my second time coming here, though the first time I came it was closed and I had to go somewhere else, so I learned and called first. It's a cute space, and we were seated by a very friendly hostess (the same helpful lady who answered the phone). I ordered saki, of which there were about 10 to choose from, and it was yummy. We got edamame to start, and though we were recommended the chili covered edamame, and it was fine, next time I would just got with the regular kind. We chose three specialty rolls from their list, they were all delicious, but they were small pieces, though it came with 8 pieces. I really didn't have my hopes high for good sushi but this was way below the bar. I've never seen sushi rolls so thick before. I'm pretty sure I was just given a roll of rice. They didn't even give me any wasabi with my order smh. I also tried the fire chicken. I love spicy food and can usually take heat pretty well but this was almost unbearable for me. Thank goodness for the side of rice it comes with. The flavors of the chicken were pretty decent though so I'll give them that. The sushi just really threw me off. If you're coming here maybe try some of the entrees and try your luck finding sushi elsewhere although I'm not sure you'd find it in Columbus. read more

I've been dying to try this place since it opened, and a couple weeks ago I finally did! Sadly it was utterly disappointing. My group stopped in on a Sunday evening and the place was busy, but the employees were still accommodating. After asking for a table, we were seated promptly. And that was the only thing prompt about the service. After ordering our drinks (which were half off due to the weekend special wooohoo) we waited 45 minutes before getting them. Taking a look at the staff, I wonder if some employees called off. Our server was rushing around clearing off tables, making drinks, taking orders, and bringing out the food. Anyway back to the drinks (which our server kept making, then rushing away from) They were all right, except for the fact that my friend ordered a martini, which was brought to her in a cocktail glass with ice in it. When she asked if they could make it up, the server sighed grumpily and said that they didn't have anymore martini glasses. However, after we stared at him blankly he went to go find one and remake the drink. When our calamari appetizer came it was so overcooked and rubbery. It literally was one step away from jerky. (It straight up had me wondering if my mother had infiltrated the kitchen! soooo overcooked my word!) I did not actually find my mother, but instead our apologetic server who informed us that our scorched appetizer was the last calamari. Boo. We order something else to replace it (which he graciously offered to comp) only to find out that the replacement item was out as well. We finally settled on a dish they had, the veggie tempura, and it was all right. Honestly it was kind of hard to be excited about it at that point, because we had been in the restaurant for an hour and thirty minutes and still had yet to see our entrees (or functional service). When our entrees did arrive, they were completely unremarkable. My bulgogi was a little dry and the meat was a bit tough. In addition, my friends fire chicken was missing the bok choy. When she asked our server about it, he said that even though its listed as an ingredient on the menu the cook does not put it in the dish.....waht? Does that even make sense?? Anyway after more the 2 hours we quickly finished our subpar food, (well my other companion actually couldn't eat his bulgogi, because it was super dry) and ventured over to mcdonald's to find something vaguely comestible. read more

We ordered several different rolls which were delicious, but the highlight was the fresh Toro special that the waiter had recommended. So so good. I tried the "Sunrise" cocktail and enjoyed the flavor combo of mango puree and vodka. Others have mentioned about slow service and long wait times, but we did not experience that. Atmosphere is very casual. Pretty small dining area, not tons of tables, and was very cold the night we ate there. Bring a sweater...but a solid stop on the Columbus sushi rotation. read more

We checked out Oshio for happy hour, and it was pretty solid. You can get rolls from $3-$5 and a few other delicious specials for $7. It goes until 7 pm. The place is pretty bare bones as far as the decor goes, and the service was okay. There wasn't very many people in there and a couple servers, but they were a bit slow. It looks like they also have to make the mix drinks (They do serve alcohol, FYI). As far as the sushi goes, it was pretty good, if not a bit above average. The spicy tuna roll was good, but I really liked the Dynamite roll with spicy crab, tuna, and avocado topped with a delicious mango Habanero sauce. It was pretty tasty! I no longer live in Grandview, so this wouldn't be my first choice as far as sushi goes, but I'd definitely stop in if I did or if I was passing through the area. It has some higher end sushi rolls to compete with the fast casual Fusian down the street, and you'll find the simpler rolls to be a bit cheaper. If you're looking for a place to get in and out quickly, this really isn't a place like that. It's a sit down restaurant, but there looked to be a lot of to-go orders as well. read more

Happy hour is until 7, they had plenty of specials on apps and we got a great deal on hand rolls. Ordered spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy crab. You get 3 and can choose from 6, some vegetarian options there as well. I love hand rolls so it made sense for us. Great price points on everything. We ordered the seaweed salad, orchid roll and tiger roll, two kinds of nigiri (1 piece) and sapparros. Should've known they'd be the big bottles, def ask for clarity. Could have shared the beer with my mom. Everything was delicious. My only complaint was the wait and it was really cold where we sat, along the bar where the freezer was definitely open. I go here with my friends because they absolutely LOVE their sushi, i on the other hand am not a huge sushi fan but the ones I have tried are amazing (ninja roll and Friday night roll). I always stick with the other options of food they have to offer. I have gotten their teriyaki chicken which comes with several veggies and omg so good!!! This last time, I went with the chicken fried rice and I LOVED it!!! I love the veggies that come in it, corn, Lima beans, carrots, etc. We sat at the bar and I forgot his name but he is always so nice and very helpful to give options for drinks!! I've been to quite a few sushi places, but there were several aspects of Oshio that stand out above the rest. First, the list of rolls is extensive. Not only do they have all the classics you'd expect, but they also have a dozen or more creative specialty rolls! My only complaint about those is that they all seemed to have raw seafood in them, and I just don't do raw. It would be awesome to have some special selections for someone like me to enjoy. I did try the sweet heart roll because the raw was only on top so I could remove it. The roll was delicious! In addition to the sushi, there was a great selection of appetizers and other meals available. My group of coworkers ordered three appetizers and 9 sushi rolls and polished it off. We got vegetable tempura, gyoza (potstickers), and calimari for the appetizers. The waiter asked if we wanted the calimari battered and fried or grilled. I've never heard of grilled calimari, and we went with the fried. For me, the pieces were too big to really enjoy. They came with four different dipping sauces! The potstickers and vegetable tempura were perfect. The sushi rolls I tried in addition to the sweet heart roll were the eel avocado, shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, and avocado rolls. All of them were very good. I order eel everywhere, and this roll did not disappoint. Those who ate the other specialty rolls really enjoyed them! Overall we had a great experience. I went to get pick up tonight, the order was supposed to be ready at 7:15 and at 7:55 there was still no food. I was waiting there with between 6-12 people awaiting food and many people eating inside. The most valuable resource in the world is time and I don't have 40 minutes to waste in a restaurant with 25 people inside during covid. I'm understanding of restaurant dynamics with covid so even 10-15 minutes to wait for carry out would not be ideal but I would not care that much. Who knows if the order would have been 60 or 90 minutes late? My dog was in the car and not anticipating 50-60 minutes past carry out time to get the food, I left. TLDR: 40-60 minute wait OVER the pick up time for carry out and not safe with covid on the inside. read more

The server only came to tell us once that the food would be out and let us unattended for the rest. I had to go to the front to ask them for the food then finally they served our food slowly. when we finished, it took them forever to get the check to us and didn't take the check back. we had to drop off the check at the front desk again. Visited with my family a couple of weeks ago to enjoy something off of their happy hour menu. I lost my job due to Covid but wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately the changes they made to their happy hour menu increased prices outside of what we were willing to pay. My family and I after looking at the menu decided to leave. We were a little embarrassed but what really made it worse is that as we were walking out the door a man from across the store who worked their said very loudly "bye!!!" in a very sarcastic voice. I don't think my family and I will ever go back. The foods always been good when we've been but I won't ever let someone embarrassed my family or I like that then turn around and support them. Always get excited about new restaurants in the area and this was no exception. Came here for dinner and was impressed with the overall decor of the restaurant. It was not too busy when I got in and service was prompt. We ordered the bibimbap which was delicious and served in a simmering clay pot, a nice presentation! This was delicious as well. We also ordered 3 different rolls, which were pretty good. My favorite was the double trouble roll, a mix of soft shell crab, shrimp tempura, and eel. For the past 8 years I've visited many sushi places, leaving 2-3 be my favorites in Cbus. Recently learned that someone in the Mr.Sushi family in gahanna open his own restaurant. Been that one of the places I like most, I had to give Oshio a try! My wife took me here for my birthday and I have to admit it was pretty good. Some items in the menu are similar to the other restaurant mentioned before. But, also, the quality is equally good. We ordered edamame and gyoza. The pork gyozas were delicious and the sauce that came with was great. As for the sushi, is nice to visit place where pieces of sushi are not paper cut thin. Volume and flavor was awesome, as well for presentation! We got the Sunday morning roll, Oshio roll, paradise roll and baked California. Beware, the Baked California is spicy hehe. It had tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado inside and crab on top. I also got the soy edamame. I expected it to be more flavorful. It would have tasted better if they cooked it in the sauce so the flavor would soak in. I ordered a side salad and was very disappointed. There was hardly any lettuce in the box. I opened it and thought are you kidding me. I really thought it was a joke. For this very reason makes me not want to go back there, but I know next time not to order a side salad. The ginger dressing was just ok. I've had better at other places. The yaki soba was just ok as well. Again I've had better. It was rather dry. The miniboss (my toddler) chowed down on her california roll, I demolished my Last Samurai roll (yummm) and my husband got the Katsudon dish and was impressed by the amount of chicken (some places go skimpy on the meat), although did mention he would have preferred some type of sauce on the size. Yet, they stay true to the food's roots by providing the freshest fish, and perfect rice to meat ratio in their traditional Nigiri (to die for). Just when we thought this meal couldn't get any better, we were served their Green Tea Tiramisu and Blueberry Cheesecake. The sushi panini was delicious but the hand rolls were not very good in my opinion. The flavor was just of fish and it did not have a spicy taste to me even though I got spicy tuna, salmon, and crab. Also, and this was likely my own fault for not asking, but I didn't realize hand rolls would come in the form of cones not cut like classic sushi. It was difficult to eat, and the end was just a stub of rice and seaweed wrap, I personally did not finish.
