My friend and I came here on Wednesday for Happy Hour (which is 4PM - 7PM.) It was really really busy but we were lucky and snagged 2 spots at the bar. I love the vibes of this place but what I ordered was just not it. I ordered the chicken wings and stir fried chicken bowl. The chicken wings were very basic. Taste just like the frozen wings I can get at Kroger. The stir fried chicken bowl was so basic. The broccoli was boiled with no flavor at all. I've been here a few times, and it never disappoints. But the rolls I got this time were out of this world!!! The black dragon and orchid roll are my new favorites. The spicy salmon I could definitely do without, it was fine but definitely nothing special (not much fish). We sat at the bar and were greeted by the sushi chefs which was so cool. The service was very quick and attentive. Both were pretty good. I especially liked the tofu. For the main menu, we ordered the sushi deluxe. The sushi itself was good, but the rolls which came with it were somewhat disappointing. Ordered from Oshio Station a couple days ago (downtown, not Grandview). My husband and I shared the Sushi box 4, Ji roll, salmon roll and chicken katsudon. Sushi box is a good value! Comes with 2 rolls, nigiri, edamame and seaweed salad. The salmon and avocado were both really fresh. The cucumbers were a bit tough and the tuna didn't seem as fresh as the salmon. The ratio on the rolls is a little off... a lot of rice to the amount of filling. The chicken katsudon was really good! It was lukewarm and not as crispy with it being delivery but was still really tasty and I'm sure would be amazing fresh. Overall really good value sushi and I appreciate the variety on the menu. read more

I haven't always found the best sushi in Columbus, but this place is now in the top running. Their rolls have a great deal of flavor, and not simply from being drenched in sauces (as is the case elsewhere). The Oshio roll, for instance, featured generous portions of shrimp tempura topped with fresh seared tuna and my husband declared it one of the best rolls he'd ever had. The Mr. Kim roll took what might be a common eek & avocado roll at other places and elevated it with the addition of serrano pepper. The sushi panini appetizer is also excellent -- think of it like a handheld sushi sandwich! They have an extensive menu of other entrees like bulgogi, and a healthy, flavorful kids menu with pared down versions of the bigger entrees. Small dining room, but they are diligently following Covid protocols. We'll definitely be back! read more

He asked why we hadnt tipped (we had tipped) then got aggressive when we told him we had. Food was great but if you dont empty your pockets to them they will follow you out the door. I LOVE sushi but I get a little nervous trying new places, especially in land locked Columbus, Ohio. However, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone, trust in Yelp, and go with my boyfriend to a new place not far from home. That place was Oshio and my friends, Yelp did not steer me wrong. We arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. This place is still rather new and I can definitely see it getting to a point where if I came by at this time, I'd be waiting a little while for a table. The place is decorated nicely and it's very clean. The dining room has a good number of tables, a few booths, and a bar with televisions. They had college football on Friday night and it was perfect. The restaurant seemed to be a little under staffed considering there were only two waiters and almost every table was seated. This is the only reason why I gave it a four star instead of a five. While our waiter was very nice and attempted to be as attentive as possible, you could tell that he was busy, as was the other waiter. Now on to the food. I got a miso soup and a small salad with ginger dressing. The soup was just what I was craving, it was warm with a bit of tofu and chives. The flavor was strong and I enjoyed the entire cup. My salad was also great. The dressing was very flavorful. If you love ginger like me, then you'll definitely enjoy it. When it comes to the sushi, we shared some salmon sashimi, and the Sunday Morning roll (deep fried) and the Grandview Roll. The Grandview Roll was delicious and I would eat it over and over again. The Sunday Morning Roll was different. I've never had a deep-fried sushi roll before but I was down to try it. There were also several other rolls that I know I would love and I'm excited to come back and try them. read more

I had never noticed Oshio even though I drive up and down 5th Ave in Grandview multiple times per week. Instead I found them by searching for a nearby sushi place with happy hour. I wanted a place that had both discounted drinks and discounted sushi. Oshio came up. They offer happy hour specials from 4-7pm. Though they do not allow you to choose the sushi. Instead it is a set sushi plate for $16 consisting of a california roll, a spicy tuna, and a spicy salmon roll. They also offered discounted white wines (it was a particularly hot day and we wanted to sit outside, so we went with white) by the bottle. We went with the cheapest, their house white wine for $12. Throughout our visit our server was great. We were the only guests sitting outside and yet we never had to wave him down or search for him. He must have kept a great eye on us from inside. The other positive was the white wine, for $12 it was mighty tasty. I thought it hit the spot while we were sweltering outside. At that price we were able to order a second bottle, which was even better than the first. What I was disappointed in was the sushi plate. The fish did not taste good, which made me think it was not fresh. It tasted so bad to me, I couldn't bring myself to continue to eat it. We basically just let the sushi cook in the sun until we left and then I'm guessing the server cleared out table. I would not return to Oshio for sushi, but if I am looking for a happy hour place with cheap, good wine, I could see myself stopping in. Hope this helps you. Take it for what it is worth. read more

Was definitely let down as I had seen good reviews & we need more sushi options this side of town. However the sushi was just ok and wayyyy to saucy. This comes from 2 people who usually order extra sauce on items and as a matter of fact ordered a side of spicy mayo. Needless to say, we did not use it. Everything was so saucy and heavy that it made us feel kind of sick & heavy. Another negative was the service...not the server but the fact that they must not have bussers. Almost 1/2 the tables in the restaurant remained dirty during our entire stay...not like they got busy all at once and couldn't clean them. From someone who works in the restaurant business I don't get this. The agadashi tofu appetizer was the saving grace to not having a 1 star. read more

It's nice to see a sushi place at this location! The decor has been updated from the previous tenants and it looks great. Ample seating inside; it'd be nice to have outdoor seating too. We ordered the Bento box (you can select a roll and topping for the rice) and Sashimi bites. Beautifully presented and everything tasted great. The tempura in my Bento wasn't too oily and was perfectly done. I also had a California roll and beef bulgogi on rice in my box, along with a salad. The Sashimi pieces were nice sized and fresh, though the salmon was a bit frozen (ice crystals when we bit down). Only negatives are that service was a bit slow and they ran out of sea urchin for the Uni Shooter. I found it odd that there was a run on uni only after being open for 2 days. read more

Miss the place. Was a weekly go to when we lived in Grandview. Moved to Milwaukee now and there isn't much close to this place. It's tough to find solid sushi in Columbus and this is certainly the best. I have been to every spot and this is the only one we would go back to weekly. Bluefin otoro is excellent along with the best spicy salmon roll I have ever had. They don't always have the otoro but when they do you certainly have to get it. I quite enjoyed this place. It's pretty small inside, but we only waited a few minutes to be sat at a table. The menu was a QR code, and they have a lot of options. We had edamame as an appetizer which came with salt on the side. This was pretty standard edamame. No complaints. I decided on the Bento Box to try a variety of things and it was a win! The shrimp tempura was ok, I was not a big fan of the sweet potato tempura though. The little side salad didn't do much for me, just had a few bites. The spicy tuna rolls were really good though, not too spicy. I took some home as leftovers for the next day and still really good. The beef bulgogi was also very good! Meat was tender and flavorful. I also took this home with the white rice and reheated the next day and still great flavor and texture. It was quite a bit of food, but good price. Would deff order again, or maybe just get the beef bulgogi and spicy tuna rolls as their own order next time. Definitely a great sushi and Japanese food spot in Grandview. I got to practice my chop stick skills as well. The only thing I didn't love was the house red wine. Tasted like juice but not in a good way. Very disappointed. After seeing this place for years and dieing to try it we finally made it out to try. I was drooling for the sushi panini and some good sushi. Very very very let down. Super bland, along with the spicy california roll that had two drops of spicy mayo ontop and a pinch of crab meat. The panini tasted like burnt bread crumbs with a pinch of meat in the middle. I don't know who runs their instagram but man they make you want to go here. Just wish it would have actually been worth it. My boyfriend got this "salmon ball" thing which turned out to be a TON of rice squares wrapped in seaweed with a pinch of salmon you put together yourself. We both looked at eachother not believing how much rice were in each of these squares with so little meat on the side. Was not worth the money at all, also very bland. We eat sushi all over we love it, this is not our first rodeo. The bathrooms were also very dirty.. that's going to be my first indicator if we are eating somewhere new or not from now on. How hard is it to dust the light fixtures and mop with a bit of clorox so it doesn't smell so bad... hello corona? The service here was absolutely subpar, especially for the price. Several people ahead of me has reservations that were not fulfilled. Then the servers were arguing with each other in front of us. It was severely understaffed with only 3 guys front of house with a full dining room. By the time we were sat (which we finally resorted to sitting at the bar) it took another 10 minutes to get a drink. Once we got our drink, it took another 15-20 minutes to put in an order. I really wanted to get my hands on one of their sushi rolls - the pictures look so dang tasty, but there wasn't a roll that included ALL the fixings I was desiring, so I instead settled on trying the Gunkan "appetizer". The roll was held together with thin strips of cucumber. Everything had its own flavor component, and was super fresh. The veggies were crisp and juicy; the small pieces of avocado were so good! The light drizzle of the mono-mono I don't know what kind of soy sauce is used here, but it was a flavor punch without being too salty. It was perfect for dipping (and I've been to places where their soy sauce is cheap and tastes like a salt brine). A special shoutout to the one sushi chef who happily weighed out the portions of the ingredients in my Gunkan, since I'm tracking my calories. It's a cute space, and we were seated by a very friendly hostess (the same helpful lady who answered the phone). I ordered saki, of which there were about 10 to choose from, and it was yummy. We got edamame to start, and though we were recommended the chili covered edamame, and it was fine, next time I would just got with the regular kind.
