After making reservations three weeks ago to celebrate Valentines Day with my boyfriend, we showed up 10 minutes prior and waited 20 minutes past 6:00. With an event to be at by 8:00 pm we were hoping to have been seated at 6 and finish up at 7:30 latest. Upon asking the hostess about our table her response at 6:20 was "Oh we were actually going to seat you next". Meanwhile, people who entered the restaurant after us were being seated. I'm not sure if it was because we are gay (due to the looks and attitude the host gave us), or they have incompetent front of house staff but for restaurant to be open 35 years and have this problem is preposterous. read more

Food was great. Waiter was fabulous. Noise was horrendous. The porch for larger groups was loud but one group was obnoxiously loud. They made it miserable enough that we left without dessert. Go for the food but skip the porch. read more

It's a little hidden.. but man the food is amazing. Fairly priced.. and even accommodating to children. They have little TVs at the booths by the bar and the bartender is super friendly and always willing to change our tv to something more kid friendly. You can't hear it.. which is okay! Their philly cheese steak sandwich has to be my favorite on their lunch menu. The meat is super tender and the bread isn't soggy when it reaches the table. Their blue plate specials are always amazing. Especially their chicken, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese blue plate. For three adults getting the blue plate and one childs item it was $75 including a tip. Definitely worth the drive and money! read more

My wife and I had a wonderful meal last night at Oscars. We normally eat there once a month, but had been unable to get reservations the last two times. This time I made reservations 48 hours in advance. We were recognized by two of the waiters. As usual, the service was excellent. The soup of the day, the lettuce salad and prime rib were prepared perfectly. My wife bragged on the shrimp cocktail, the pasta, bread, and saved room for the wonderful crime brûlée. We travel 35 miles to eat here and 35 miles back home . We highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants to take out of town guests. We went last night and they were out of the two appetizers we wanted (it was very early in the dinner hour, so I don't know what the problem was). Needless to say this was very disappointing, but our guest enjoyed her meal and didn't know what she was missing. Service was good and as always dessert was excellent. Would have been 5 stars if the appetizers would have been available. read more

Classic food at a classic Summerville restaurant served by a classic Oscar's waitress, who has been there for 21 years. So refreshing that this long standing establishment is still as good as ever. read more

If you haven't had the seafood burrito from Oscar's, you aren't living as well as you think.

Oh my goodness, where do I start?! The service was amazing- Kelly is funny AND helpful. Truly, she added to our dining experience and made it fun. Now for the food... SOOOOO good! The starter of calamari was surprising, and out of this world delicious. Next, we ordered the she-crab soup, and again, it was delicious! We shared the evening special of crab-stuffed sirloin, with potatoes au-gratin and carrots as sides. We just about literally licked our plates clean. Ohhhhs and ahhhhs! So good! For dessert we shared the Southern Crack Cake. Honestly, I can't imagine how this meal could possibly be improved upon. I wish I lived in South Carolina, just so we could come here all the time! A must-do, if you can! read more

Great atmosphere. Great food and great service. My server "Olivia" was so pleasant and enthusiastic about the menu. I had shrimp and grits and they were fantastic. read more

Not recommended. Will not be back. Grouper and lamb were overcooked - Not flavorful. Steak-au-poivre had NO PEPPER (Poivre means pepper in French). For the price I expected great flavor . I was greatly disappointed! !!! Waitress was not a happy person either. She was like a Union worker- just doing her job. Sadly, sadly disappointed. read more

Great atmosphere, excellent menu selection and the food is outstanding. Help me hit a Grand slam every date night. read more

Best Thanksgiving Buffet! Will definitely be back soon for their regular menu! Olga was a great waitress, we never wanted for anything dispite the massive crowd. Great service & atmosphere for a family gathering. Look forward to spending future family events here. read more

Had a birthday dinner here tonight for my husband with a group of 20 family members and friends. The food was delicious, but the service was even better. They were extremely accommodating to our group from the moment we walked in to our last bite of dessert. Calvin, our server, was on top of everything and kept everyone satisfied. So happy we chose Oscars for this special celebration. We will be back again soon! read more

This was the first time my husband and I had been to Oscars. We were part of a office party and we had 14 people. Boy, I was impressed. We had one waiter, who was AMAZING. He didn't mess up a thing. And the food! My husband and I were eating off of each other's plates and really enjoying ourselves. We had the cold crab dip which was good, but the fried fish plate and the seafood burrito rocked! We will be coming back soon. read more

Has the best calamari in town! For lunch, their shrimp salad croissant with sweet potato fries is so good! For dinner, the smoked Gouda grit cakes and the salmon are to die for. I crave all these quite often. The longtime servers are the best too! Kelvin, Tom, Gene, Raquel, Kelly, etc.... read more

Definitely over-rated. Years ago we made reservations for office staff occasions.. birthday dinner and Christmas dinner. Both times, we arrived 'our group and the reservations were not really honored.. we waited over an HOUR to be seated for the Christmas dinner... crowded into the rather small front desk area. Recently, we decided to give it another try.. family birthday with smaller group of just six... week night. The service was great.. although wait time to be served was rather slow considering we were only one of two tables occupied in the big room. Guessing limited kitchen staff on slow night. But, our server was very good. Food was simply ho-hum.. we are not fussy folks but guest were from other areas and think they were disappointed. For the price range, it should be better. Will say we had lunch there about a year ago and the shrimp salad at lunch was delicious! But, just not one we will frequent weekly. read more

The food was awesome and our waiter was on point. Really cool atmosphere. My girlfriend and I both got seafood and loved it! They have a good drink menu and everything is fairly priced. I saw what a few people had orders when I went to wash my hands and decided that one trip was not going to be enough. read more

The braised short ribs were so tender I didn't need a knife, the and the bacon wrapped shrimp was life changing

We went for dinner, it was so nice. The atmosphere made it a nice romantic dinner for 2. The crab dip was amazing. And the warm bread was so good. I really enjoyed the selection of wine and beers. The sweet tea pork chop was amazing. read more

The service was exceptional, the waiter really went above and beyond. The food, for the most part, good. The thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is really the layout, needs a little more space between the tables, and the lighting is somewhat dark inside. I Would recommend this place others. read more

Best place in the area! Service always great and everything I've ever had is amazing! Best shrimp and grits I've had since moving here in 2008. There is a UNREAL hot sauce made in house that you need to ask for with your shrimp and grits order. It is AMAZING! read more

Excellent restaurant for every occasion! Fried calamari is a must try! I had the sweet tea pork chop with sweet mashed potatoes and greens which was amazing! Wait staff is always very professional and kind! Best dining experience I have ever had every single time we visit! read more

First time at this Summerville favorite! And for Christmas Eve no less! We arrived and were able to be immediately seated in the bar area, which was great. Our server, Brittany, was very nice and helping with explaining the specials and answering other questions we had. She was a real asset to our overall good meal and good time! We started with the Calamari, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I got the Prime Rib for my main course. Again, a perfect medium rare. The Smoke Gouda Mac and Cheese was an amazing side! And the whipped sweet potatoes, delicious. I can't wait to come back to Oscar's. It could become a Christmas Eve tradition! read more

This was our first time here. We came with some friends who were visiting from out of town. Food was great. Half of our table ordered from the southwest part of the menu and loved their food and the portions were large. I had the steak salad and it was spot on. Olga our server was great with her recommendations and she was a wonderful and attentive server. We shared the southern crack pie and it was to die for! My daughter had the ice cream crepe and it was large and also delicious. I highly recommend this place. Our visitors say they will be back when coming back for a visit. read more

The negatives were: it's a little pricey, no salad included with the entree, no baked potatoes, exterior looks dated, menu selections are a little limited. That being said, I loved it. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the interior is cozy and attractive, our food was excellent. My wife had the fillet, which was huge, tender, tasty, and cooked to perfection. I had the shrimp and grits, which also was excellent. On the limited menu, after managing restaurants for 40 years, I have found that is better to do a few things very well than a large number of items mediocre. We will definitely be back and I encourage everyone to patronize this gem of a restaurant in Summerville. read more

The best service I've had an any establishment in a very long time! We were visiting Charleston area over spring break and had a huge lunch, so by dinner, we weren't very hungry but needed a small bite. My husband found this place and we were expecting a pub/bar atmosphere, but with decent appetizer options. Oscars was more elegant than we expected, but went with it anyway. The hostess staff was extremely attentive and personable, we were seated in a booth area, which was very simple, but elegant. Tulips for Easter were at each table, which is my favorite flower, so nice touch! Not being super hungry, we realized that the smaller servings were available at the bar side instead of the restuarant side, which is where we were seated. They made our requests happen, non the less, with no fuss. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer and basic chips and salsa. I love a good mac and cheese, so got a side of that. We had some drinks along with our pairings/Marguarita and Red Zifandel, which were good. The food was spot on! Very thought out and didn't seem so basic! The seasonings told you they thought out how to present their offerings. Micky, our server, was the best! As was all the staff, he was very attentive, warm and made us feel extremely welcome. As a special touch, he came back to our table with a few tulips as a gift, as he heard my comment about loving the tulips! Oscars is a nice gem of a find, and the staff there know their business! The service here was memorial, for sure and thank you! read more

Definitely love the French onion soup! It's one of the best that I've ever had. Like that the option exists to have formal dining or be seated in a bar pub area. Always very friendly staff. Also like the daily specials that they have in the pub area. read more

Oscar's is a fantastic restaurant in Summerville. We had my son's 18th birthday dinner on the side porch. The food, the service, and the atmosphere could not have been better. We had over 25 people ordering off the menu. The food arrived quickly, all orders were correct, and the food was fabulous. Everybody was so accommodating, even though the party grew and additional tables had to be added. Kelvin did an amazing job taking care of everybody. I can't thank everybody at Oscar's enough for making my son's birthday party a truly memorable one. We will definitely be back! read more

Fabulous place to eat! Servers are polite and interactive. Like family! Food is so delicious!

My family and I have enjoyed Oscar's for quite a few years. Gene was our server and as usual he was outstanding, balancing a number of tables while giving us A1 service. In large part thanks to Gene we all had a good experience, the atmosphere was excellent and we will be back. I don't normally complain about anything I've had at Oscar's, but I was sort of surprised and I feel you should know our disappointment at this sitting. A couple of us at the table ordered the $28 Ribeye, which at this price you would expect it to be outstanding quality as compared to other restaurants of equal reputation. Unfortunately both of us felt this was not the quality we expected compared to what we are use to at Oscar's and other restaurants recently patronized. The other 6 in our group enjoyed their meal, one being a fillet and especially the deserts. read more

We always sit in the bar area! The food is amazing and the service is awesome! We normally have Brittany as a server, she is sweet and knows her stuff about ALL the menus!! Wings are amazing, their seafood is fresh, and desserts are delicious! If I could make one change it would be their basket of rolls they bring to your table. But everything else is 100% read more

Friday night my group of 6 gathered to celebrate a birthday without making a reservation. Even though the restaurant and bar were BUSY, we found a place at the high top bar in the bar. Drinks were delivered immediately, and we were able to order dinner which was delicious and served promptly. The filet mignons were tender and so tasty. The salmon GREAT! Everything served was excellent! The evening was capped off with Kentucky Derby pie, an old favorite that has been brought back, and the peppermint and chocolate ice cream pie. DELICIOUS!! Servers, bartenders, managers and the owners were in motion the entire evening, and it made for excellent service and a really enjoyable celebration. We were the last customers to leave but felt welcomed the entire time. We appreciated not being rushed. Four of us returned last night for dinner, and it was five star worthy again. OSCAR'S is a restaurant worth trying andrepeating! read more

I've always enjoyed dining at Oscar's-lunch, dinner, and for beverages and appetisers, but my recent dinners on Friday, January 11th and January 17th were especially good. Both nights I dined with friends and the place was bustling but our servers were extremely attentive and friendly. My New York Strip was cooked to perfection and the fried oysters topped fresh salmon entree was as well. The best, though, were the desserts! Fried cheesecake is killer (Zango?) and the chocolate baby bundt cake delicious. Hats off to the chef, servers, and managers working hard to provide highly enjoyed dining experiences for my group and me. read more
