I moved to Turlock and I wish they were there instead of the other sushi places we have, when I've gone to other places in Turlock it always makes me Crave Osaka. Love it! Love! I've tried many sushi restaurants all are ok but Osaka is my favorite. Always fresh and full of FLAVOR! Hawaiian Roll is a must if you want some spicy and the house salad is excellent with their delish dressing. I usually order from Fumi Sushi but was disappointed the last time I ordered from there. Thought I'd try this place through Uber eats since they had a promotion going on and I was pleasantly pleased by the quality and the quantity of the food! When I order miso soup from other places, I usually just get the broth lol but lots of tofu and seaweed. The tempura vegetable appetizer had big pieces of vegetables and a good amount. The food was fine, HOWEVER, the male host attitude was absolutely unacceptable. Our party arrived well before closing, at least 2 hours prior. While our group was not the smallest, it definitely was not the largest. When he asked us how many people were to be seated, his response was "You couldn't think to call us ahead of time?" It had a very comfortable vibe and ambiance which was great because I was feeling a little stressed before I came in The air conditioning was great an very much needed on this hot day. The sashimi was great. The rest was pretty good but Coulda used some more flavor. I loved the ice cream and the overall presentation was great. I loved all the homemade decorations and all the creative sushi selections. The staff had excellent customer service. It was pretty cool I got these creative shaped oranges at the end of my meal. As expected, I called in my order right at opening (4:30pm) and the lady answering the phone was very helpful. She was courteous and knowledgeable about her specials. I drove in 45 min prior to them opening and contemplated the sushi bars that were currently open. I drove around, down the street and surfed the web and ultimately decided to stick with what I know. :) I'm really particular and after reading reviews of other sushi spots, I chose Osaka. I ordered the Red drain roll and the spicy tuna roll. I highly recommend this establishment. If you want great quality and helpful service for dining in or out, this is the spot! They always manage to seat us fairly quickly, despite the place not being very big. Customer service is always great, we have no complaints there, but the food quality is suffering. Tonight we had the sashimi appetizer, toro nigiri, pink lady roll, white dragon roll, and the tropical roll. The sashimi appetizer was great, fresh and delicious. The toro nigiri was terrible, a chewy, sinewy, tough piece of fish over rice. The pink lady and white dragon rolls were good, but the tropical roll was quite bland and boring, with no real taste at all. After three not so great meals at Osaka we are looking for a new sushi spot. read more

They offer everything you could possibly want and then some. The sushi is fresh, large portions and well priced. When it came time to pay the bill, a credit card reader was brought to the table and the waitress stood over my husband's shoulder while he was entering in the tip. Was very uncomfortable. We had the crouching tiger and rock n' roll Sushi with calamari for an appetizer. The calamari was served with a good portion size with sweet and sour sauce. The crouching tiger was good and the rock n roll was ok because it didn't have much going on in the mouth but it did come with a bowl of miso soup. The wait was about 30 minutes on Friday night. Update: enough can't be said about the outstanding service at Osaka. Last night a "fine dining" restaurant botched my Valentines reservation. All dressed up with nowhere to go, my wife and I retreated to Osaka, hoping against hope we might be able to get a table and some food. By this time it was late--fifteen minutes before the place would normally close. I wouldn't typically do this, but hey, my wife looked great and I had to call an audible. Were we greeted with weary wait staff that didn't want to seat us and tried to hurry us on our way? No!! We were greeted the same way we always have been--warmly and personally. The host even joked that we didn't have the three to seven people in tow that we normally bring along to our sushi outings. Throughout our meal we were treated with the same care and attention that we have always experienced at Osaka. These people know how to hire and retain the right kind of staff. The food, as always, was consistent and delicious. But the highlight of this visit was really just the care and service that we experienced from a well-run restaurant unlike what we had experienced elsewhere that night. The food has SIGNIFICANTLY gone downhill in the last 3-ish months. My girlfriend and i ate here nearly every weekend then we stopped for a bit and decided to go back. The ika karage was chewy and tasted off, the lava roll came with ONLY HOT SAUCE ON IT. No pink sauce on it at all. The fish tastes like it was in a freezer for months, and the prices are WAAAY more now. Idk what is going on or if a new owner got ahold of it, but damn good way to run a business into the ground.
