Damage done to my car
E S.

Fair WARNING to all! My first experience at this shop came when my transmission started to slip in my WRX, so the owner Waldo diagnosed it with a clogged valve body. He said all it needed was a cleaning and it'd be fine. 4 months later I'm back with the same problem only this time he said the transmission would need a rebuild. Fine. He tells me it'd be ready it 2 weeks max. Perfect I thought, bc I started school in a couple of weeks so I'd need my car back ASAP. Fast forward to 2 weeks later and my car is still sitting in the same spot he had moved it to on the street. I asked for an update and he said he hadn't started bc the battery was dead. Okay? I had a brand new battery back to him within the hour. Fast forward to a month later and again I'm asking for updates. He tells me he hasn't had time to work on it yet bc he's been trying to get cars out to make room for mine. Okay?... I'll cut him some slack. Another 2 weeks later and he's still giving me the run around as to when he'd get started on the car. Throughout this time, I've been driving by and popping in at the shop and seeing cars come in and out of his shop... but mine was still on the sidewalk covered in bird poop. 3 months later and I'm finally fed up with the excuses so I tell him that he would need to have my car ready by next week bc I have written proof of the due date and legal measures can be taken. Funny how I had my car back that following week. But wait, the bs wasn't over. After washing the car the following day I noticed that my hood was crushed and dented to the point where the paint cracked and fell off. On top of that, all the bird poop that was on it ate through the paint and etched the whole car, even after I had asked him to clean it off before that happened. I immediately called him and asked what was up with this and he tried to make an excuse as to how he doesn't know if that even happened at his shop. I reminded him that I had taken pictures of the car the day it was dropped off. He then admitted to trying to squeeze several cars into the shop & offered to go 50/50 with the cost to repair it. WHAT??!!! After all the bs he put me through, he still wanted to get away with this too?!.......Super long story short he ended up paying for the damage (as he should) and I ended up selling the car just as the transmission started to go out again... 8 months later

The shop. Try not to block his neighbors.

They took a look at my car for free to identify the issue and they detected the leak to be coming from my engine and not my transmission. They showed me exactly what they were seeing, why they thought it was my engine and not my transmission, and offered to put a dye in my transmission fluid to ensure it was my engine and not my transmission. I drove my car for a week and took it back to double check, and sure enough it was my engine! Although they spent time and care on my car, they didn't charge me a single penny, even when I insisted to at least pay for the dye. They were able to refer me another mechanic to fix my engine leak and I was able to get my issue solved that same day. As a woman who is nervous to get work done on my car, I had an excellent time at El Monte Transmission. If you are having transmission troubles, please go to them :)

Lee Co Transmission is simply the best. I first brought my 2008 Sienna in just for a diagnosis…read moreafter replacing the solenoid myself and still having a CEL and pressure issues. The diagnosis was free. Most shops charge just for this. Mr. Lee let me ride along while he carefully drove while testing it for about 20 minutes with the scanner attached. Afterward he told me his diagnosis and what a valve body replacement would cost, and I came back later to have it done. When he dropped the pan, it showed a lot more metal bits than when I replaced the solenoid. He still offered to try the valve body first, and said if it didn't work he'd apply what I paid toward a rebuild, even though it meant more work for him. I elected to do the rebuild right away. Everything was done on time based on the timeline they gave me. They also suggested a rear main seal replacement, since it's simple while the transmission is out, but very costly otherwise. A cracked engine mount was replaced too. All while Sam, the shop manager, patiently sent me pictures, answered my questions, and called to keep me in the loop. Sam actually picks up the phone and takes his time explaining everything. The rebuild came with a 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty. Before picking it up, Mr. Lee also noticed my battery strap was missing, which he secured at no charge. After driving a while, I noticed a little oil on the torque converter casing and suspected the rear main seal was leaking. I called Sam, he told me to bring it back, and Mr. Lee carefully diagnosed it, opened the case to prove it wasn't the seal, and Sam even traced the leak to the rear valve cover gasket. These guys care, take the time to look into things, and are extremely patient even with annoyingly detailed customers like me (haha). I'm around 1,500 miles in and the van runs super smooth. I'll bring it in for the break-in flush soon. I also chatted with Mr. Lee about how he became a transmission mechanic. Very interesting story! Transmissions are truly his passion and it shows. I've seen a few negative reviews here but I'd take them with a grain of salt. They were likely disgruntled because no one likes spending more money. And when unexpected problems arise even when unrelated and more money needs to be spend, people get upset. Given the chance, these guys go out of their way to make the customer happy. That's clearly just who they are. Highly recommended.

It has been great so decide to get my 2002 Ford Explorer done here. The explorer was jerky only after a cold start so we tried going with a smaller fix before doing a full rebuild. I was quoted around $1k. It took around 5 days before I got my car back. He gave me a warranty of 2 weeks, full credit towards a rebuild, or after 2 weeks for 6 months, it would be $500 credit. The car was driving fine except during traffic so I had to bring it back in to get the full rebuild. It costed around $3k but I paid $2k since I got the $1k credited back. It has been a week, and the car has been fine since then. I recommend Leeco Transmission as they are very honest and kind. Sam was always friendly and does a good job. I believe they have employees here who speak mandarin or korean if needed. They do not have parking here, you just drive your car in.

I don't usually write reviews, but this experience truly deserves one…read more I was having transmission problems and went to car dealership first. They told me I needed a full transmission replacement -- almost $9,000. I went to other shops, and the lowest quote I got was $3,800 to rebuild it, others between 6k and 6.5k, I honestly didn't know what to do. Then I found this transmission shop called Hi-Tech Transmission and decided to get one more opinion. Ever, the Technician; was very kind and took the time to explain things clearly. Instead of jumping straight into a major repair, he suggested that the issue might be caused by old, dirty transmission fluid, so We decided to try a fluid drain and replacement. After about 5 hours, he called me and said the issue was gone. I've been driving my car since then, and everything is working perfectly. No transmission problems at all. The total cost was only $400. What impressed me the most was his honesty. He could have easily charged me thousands like the others, but he didn't. That kind of integrity is rare. If you want someone who truly cares about helping you and not just making money, this is the place to go. Thank you so much Ever!! I will really appreciate your help.
