The acupuncture itself worked for me, but not for my other half. I believe that it is truly dependent on anyone. My neck pain was brutal and almost felt like nerve pain. During the session it wasn't painful, it was a small pinch but nothing anyone can't handle. After we were finished, my neck was so relieved. It was truly like night and day. Regardless of the acupuncture not being for my partner, she said she would go back for just the cupping and not the needles. So I'm sure next time we are in need of either, this will be the place we go back to! The last thing I will say is that making the payment a sliding scale is so wonderful because everyone can experience this depending on their income! Which makes it inclusive which I really like! It says a lot about her as a healer and person. Try it out! Find out for yourself!

Fast forward to 2026, I was in need of therapy for my neck again. It is definitely something with long flights and using pillows that I am not used to. Anyways, I should have called for a reservation because it is so busy here. I wasn't able to get the therapy this time, but I wanted to leave this long overdue review. Dr. Mei-Lin is amazing!…read more In our quest for parenthood, I stumbled upon Maunakea Acupuncture. My Obgyn said to just continue trying and come back in a year if nothing happens. Me (being my impatient self) wanted to explore other possibilities. I'm still young and relatively healthy, so I was looking for a naturopathic option. She did an extensive consultation and walked me through the plan before we started acupuncture. She asked about things like my diet, lifestyle, and gave me great advice on what I should/shouldn't do. The next appointment was scheduled for acupuncture. I'm not sure if it was the timing or the stars just aligned. I immediately got pregnant after the first session! A pregnancy test confirmed it a month later on Father's Day. I saw her religiously during the first trimester and sparingly throughout my pregnancy. Based off my pulse, she was able to identify the baby's gender and confirmed we're having a boy! Now, a year later, we have a healthy and happy baby boy! I still see her once a month post partum to help my body heal. Thank you Dr. Mei-Lin! PS She also helped fix my reoccurring knee and ankle pains Thanks for reading my reviews! Update review: I saw Phi Lan for a few months to treat my migraines. I was having them 1-2 times…read moreper week, and could be debilitating, depending on how severe they were. After the course of treatment, I now only get them maybe once a month or two! A HUGE improvement if you ask me. One particular treatment where I had an active migraine, I could literally feel the pain leave my head as she moved the needles down to transition their flow (prickly sensation) to my feet- it was WILD. Not only did she help reduce my head pain and frequency significantly, but she always presented a very warm and welcoming environment. I'm not entirely a fan of needles, but she eased me into it, and ensured I was comfortable thru out the process (the heated bed helps). She always asked how each needle felt, if it needed more or less pressure, and offered to check in on me halfway thru the treatment. She also did some cupping, which was new to me, and help ease the tension coming down my neck and shoulders. Front desk staff are nice too, they remember you after a few treatments. Definitely recommend Phi Lan for any migraine treatment! She's the best!

I just got a call after being on the waitlist for 8 months, and told they're "going down the list"…read moreto reach out to waitlisted people. I was essentially told I had to decide that minute (like literally THAT MINUTE) if I would accept an upcoming appointment in a few weeks. I'm in treatment with a different acupuncturist - it's been 8 months after all - and I needed a moment to think about this. I wanted to review my care plan and goals after not hearing from this practice for so long. Very much caught off guard. I asked if I could have time to think (I wanted about an hour), and was told no - I would need to decide right then THAT MINUTE - and she needed to proceed down the waitlist. I felt extremely pressured to make a decision on the spot, in a very vulnerable aspect of health care - fertility and women's health. I was about to say yes, and then after thinking about it for the three seconds I had and how unprofessional this all felt - my answer turned to a hard "no." This practice made me feel like a mark, a number, an insignificant person on a list to get through until they hit their client booking goals. I've been to therapists in LA, NY, Thailand, Seoul, and Japan, but I always left feeling like they were just scratching the surface. Hawaii Natural Therapy recommended Ashley S. to me to address these issues and she is hands down the best I've ever worked with. She is a total professional with a "quiet strength" that I really appreciated and made me feel completely comfortable & at ease, which let me actually relax despite the good pain! What blew me away was her intuition. I feel like she instinctively knew exactly where to go and didn't just chase the symptoms or the transferred pain; but rather went straight for the root of the issue. She has the kind of strength that is rare to find, and uses it with so much control and technique. I did a 90-minute session with cupping, and a week later, my entire body feels significantly lighter. That decade-old knot is practically on its way out the door. I'll be seeing her regularly from now on every time I'm back home, and I'm already recommending her to everyone I know. If you need someone who truly understands the body and has the strength to back it up, go see Ashley. I cannot recommend her enough! 12/10 P.S.
