Can't speak highly enough of Patricia! I've been there 3 times now and each time after the session I would walk out pain free! I used to be scared to acupuncture coz no one likes to have multiple needles inserted into the body right? But after feeling the immediate positive effects of it, I'm a believer, and I think the 5 minutes of discomfort is extremely worth it for the few or multiple pain-free days I get out of it! That's my main motivation to keep coming back. If you tried PT, massage and all that and nothing seems working, give acupuncture a try. To me, effects of a massage could only provide maybe half a day of pain relief and of course the relaxation, and I'm spending $80 which gets expensive. Acupuncture is more effective and more affordable, so the choice is obvious for me. It also helps a lot that Patricia is caring, understanding, knowledgeable, skillful, honest, calm and reassuring, everything you want in a good acupuncturist. She gave me a consultation and took my pulse every time before we would go upstairs for the acupuncture session. Usually I go there for my lower back pain, but if she notices something else wrong, or if I bring something else up, then she would put the needles in the appropriate pressure points to treat that as well. I would say, out of all the acupuncturists I've had, including some in Hong Kong china, she's the most precise in terms of where to put the needles, because almost every needle going in I would feel some numbing sensation. Sometimes when it's intense, my muscle would twitch. That's a good thing because it means it's the right spot!!! Depending on your condition and the area of problem, and also depending on how hard the acupuncturist wants it to go lol, each needle would feel differently, so I can only imagine acupuncture feels different for every single person as well. But in general feeling the nerve firing up, numbness or tingling is considered normal. (The sharps of the needle is nothing compared to the sensation once the needle is in. The numbness I described is after the needle is already inside.) After having the needles in, I was able to have at least 30 mins to lie down on my stomach to rest (with needles on my back). Sometimes I would doze off because it's actually very relaxing. She would then come in to take them out and massage the spots a bit to get the blood flowing. The environment is relaxing with meditative music playing upstairs. The room is also shared with other patients, with 2 massage beds and 2 chairs spaced apart. Payment is on a sliding scale from $30-55. They don't take insurance. I hope they're doing ok with this payment method to keep the place running! It's the best acupuncture experience I've had, and I'm a regular now!

Kama'aina Acupuncture has been my go to place for acupunctures for years. Every acupuncturist is great there but I especially like to get treatments by Patricia. She can probably just feel what my body needs as I don't have to tell her much! It depends on your issues and areas, but in my case, it usually starts with cuppings, then needles at the same time and/or afterwards, and finishing with light massages. But it's individually customized, so could be different for everyone. The place is a community style, so you could be in a large room with another person or two. The payment is sliding scale system - you pay what you can afford or want to.

I have nothing but incredible things to say about Kama'aina Acupuncture. I found them on Yelp and was very impressed by their consistent 5-star reviews. At the time, I really did a number on my back after surfing Queens Break for about 3 hours. Upon walking in for my appointment, Licensed Acupuncturist Patricia Hu did a thorough intake and eval and then immediately provided treatment. I've have acupuncture before however she really seemed to reach nodules and points deeper into the muscles than I've ever felt before. While certainly a bit more intense than I was previously used it, it was oh so worth it. She also supplements the needles with cupping and a sports massage. The relief I felt was immediate that day, so much so that I was able to go canoe surfing the following morning. I went to her 4x within a 2 week span and felt renewed and rejuvenated after each time.

I love this place! Affordable, friendly, close to my house, and always good vibes. I've been working on a bunch of stuff with them and have seen improvements with my acne and blood flow to extremities like my feet and hands would always get cold. Happy that my friend Yoko recommended them to me!

Not only did she help reduce my head pain and frequency significantly, but she always presented a very warm and welcoming environment. I'm not entirely a fan of needles, but she eased me into it, and ensured I was comfortable thru out the process (the heated bed helps). She always asked how each needle felt, if it needed more or less pressure, and offered to check in on me halfway thru the treatment. I just got a call after being on the waitlist for 8 months, and told they're "going down the list"…read moreto reach out to waitlisted people. I was essentially told I had to decide that minute (like literally THAT MINUTE) if I would accept an upcoming appointment in a few weeks. I'm in treatment with a different acupuncturist - it's been 8 months after all - and I needed a moment to think about this. I wanted to review my care plan and goals after not hearing from this practice for so long. Very much caught off guard. I asked if I could have time to think (I wanted about an hour), and was told no - I would need to decide right then THAT MINUTE - and she needed to proceed down the waitlist. I felt extremely pressured to make a decision on the spot, in a very vulnerable aspect of health care - fertility and women's health. I was about to say yes, and then after thinking about it for the three seconds I had and how unprofessional this all felt - my answer turned to a hard "no." This practice made me feel like a mark, a number, an insignificant person on a list to get through until they hit their client booking goals. In spite of how talented a healer Edie Uchida might be, this policy is unfair and the person delivering this info, very cold.

Edie is hands down the best, and I know this because I have happy and healthy 3-month-old twin girls thanks to her! My OBGYN, who is also my IVF doctor, affectionately calls my girls the "miracle babies." I'm a 42-year-old woman who has been battling endometriosis, an autoimmune disease, and years of infertility (around 7 years total). Before seeing Edie, I had undergone 2 laparoscopies and a hysteroscopy for my endometriosis. I also took 3 cycles of Clomid, which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage. I attempted 3 more cycles of Clomid, but those attempts were unsuccessful as well. Additionally, I had 3 unsuccessful IUI attempts and a single failed round of IVF. My first round of IVF involved retrieving 7 eggs, but only 4 were viable, and only 3 of those made it to embryos. Considering my age, health history, and the lower grading of the embryos, all 3 were transferred. Unfortunately, none of them implanted. Enter Edie! I started seeing her in June 2023, 2-3 times a week. After overcoming several challenges with hormonal imbalances and cysts, which Edie effectively managed, I underwent my egg retrieval in October 2023. Before the retrieval, my doctor monitored my follicles and provided guidance to Edie on the necessary interventions. For instance, during an ultrasound to assess follicle count and growth, one side had larger follicles compared to the other. I informed Edie about this at my next appointment, and she adjusted the treatment plan. At my following ultrasound, both sides had evened out. I was fortunate enough to retrieve 8 viable eggs, with 7 of them successfully developing into 3-day embryos. This was more than double the number I had previously achieved, and the quality of the embryos was significantly improved. I continued to see Edie until my embryo transfer in January 2024. Immediately following my transfer, I saw her for a special treatment to help the implantation process. After my previous IVF cycle failed, I was cautiously optimistic but started experiencing period symptoms about a week later. I was certain it wasn't working, but Edie remained positive and said, "I feel like it worked." I appreciated her optimism, but I was certain my period was coming. Two weeks after my transfer, I received my positive beta results! She was right! I discovered I was having twins, and due to my age, medical history, and the fact that I was having twins, I was at high risk. As a result, I was recommended to be on modified bed rest for the first trimester. The only places I visited during that time were my doctor's and Edie's appointments. Not only did Edie help me conceive and maintain my pregnancy, but she also provided support during my severe morning sickness, which persisted throughout my pregnancy. She also helped alleviate symptoms of a flare-up with my UC and treated all my pregnancy symptoms. Additionally, she offered support after losing my little brother to cancer when I was six months pregnant. Edie helped manage my anxiety, heartbreak, and sleep during that extremely difficult time! Unfortunately, I had to stop seeing her around 34 weeks, which I believe ultimately contributed to my preeclampsia. At 38 weeks (full term), I managed to deliver two beautiful girls, both weighing a healthy 6.5 pounds each! Edie is truly amazing! I genuinely mean that! She cares deeply about her patients, and I honestly believe that if it weren't for her help, knowledge, and genuine care, my girls wouldn't be here today. And while this may sound cliché, after seeing her for so long, I miss her because she became a friend to me. If there's only one thing you take away from this review, when you visit Edie, please fully trust her and the process. She knows what she's doing! My advice to you: Take the herbs and supplements, follow the diet, wear the patches, listen to her advice, and visit her as often as possible. It's actually quite incredible to see the difference she can make to your body and overall health. I still can't believe I have 2 amazing, happy, and healthy girls because of her. I will forever be grateful for everything she has done for me!

Acu-Massage is located on the second floor of the same center as Frost City. Don't drive too fast on South Beretania Street, this white building is almost immediately on your right after the intersection. I found Kaori because she is a Participating Provider with my insurance, and my poor aching body needed to be pampered soooooo badly. She also does acupuncture (catchy business name, huh? Acu-Massage, get it?) but my review is solely for her massage service. I had these crazy knots between my shoulder blades and Kaori LITERALLY karate-chop/tae-kwon-do/beat-the-crap out of my knots. I won't lie, I got a little sweaty on the table because it was slightly sore, but OOOHHHH! It hurt sooo good! My back was a little tender the following day, but I've never felt so relaxed after, she's AMAZING!!!! She also finished off by putting this soothing minty cream on me, and I left feeling rejuvenated and not one bit sticky. FYI- this is not a luxury spa experience. Her office space is more of a clinic-feel, and her therapy is really more medicinal than a day-at-the-spa treatment. But trust me, I'd let her beat me up any day!
