Me (being my impatient self) wanted to explore other possibilities. I'm still young and relatively healthy, so I was looking for a naturopathic option. She did an extensive consultation and walked me through the plan before we started acupuncture. She asked about things like my diet, lifestyle, and gave me great advice on what I should/shouldn't do. The next appointment was scheduled for acupuncture. I'm not sure if it was the timing or the stars just aligned. I immediately got pregnant after the first session! A pregnancy test confirmed it a month later on Father's Day. I saw her religiously during the first trimester and sparingly throughout my pregnancy. Oh Edie. Edie is like my fairy godmother. I heard about Edie from a friend who was also placed on…read morethe waitlist but didn't get a chance to work with her. She told me that Edie was well known in the Hawaii fertility world to help many difficult cases get pregnant. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant over the last 7 years and have gone through one failed round of IVF and numerous rounds of IUI with no success, on top of a natural pregnancy in December 2022 that ended in a miscarriage. I've been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis and have even considered using an egg donor if all else failed with my eggs. I've also tried the Mediterranean diet prior to our IVF and was still not successful. I was 39 years old and figured age was also not on my side. We were planning on doing one last round of IVF in the beginning of 2024 and figured I should at least try acupuncture as a last ditch effort to perhaps help my body prep for IVF. I called the office and was placed on the waitlist. I believe it took a few months before I was called to be offered a consultation. Edie not only focuses on your main fertility issue but works on your whole body and your gut to help you get healthy and conceive as naturally as possible. After my consultation, I was placed on the candida diet to help lessen the inflammation in my gut. Let me tell you, that diet was one of the hardest things I've ever done. You will religiously shop at Whole Foods & check Costco for Organic protein options. I was also going to see Edie twice a week for acupuncture as well as taking my Chinese herbs that taste like dirt LOL. I made it a routine and my coworkers were even aware of my diet and routine lol. Slowly I lost some bad weight, gained energy, and was overall healthier and it became a lifestyle. I wish I could say I was still as good on my diet now, but I am honestly way more conscious of what I put in my body as opposed to before. To have positive results, you will have to work hard, but it definitely is worth it. The office staff is really friendly, parking is validated, and they have Saturday appointments which are very helpful if you work weekdays. Edie also works with Dr. Dominguez who is an excellent Fertility doctor. Together they are like the dynamic duo who will holistically help you achieve your fertility goals. To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first because I'm terrified of needles and thought how could all of this possibly work? Week after week, Edie worked up to the bigger needles for me and instead of feeling tense, I found my acupuncture sessions relaxing. Yes, the sessions and herbs can get pretty pricey, but I always remind myself that the price tag was worth not having to go through IVF again. I started seeing Edie in June 2023 and got pregnant with an unmedicated IUI in October 2023. Unfortunately that pregnancy resulted in a chemical pregnancy, but it was one step closer to our goal. My prior IUIs always used meds like Letrozole but I never ever got pregnant from them. Then the next month we were surprised when I conceived naturally! We were ecstatic but apprehensive since I've had two miscarriages before. I continued to see Edie twice a week during my pregnancy, kept up with my protein intake especially during the first trimester, and took my herbs. I believe all of that in combination helped me to keep my nausea controlled, no morning sickness, and very minimal swelling. My pregnancy went very well and was unremarkable. Even the postpartum nurses were shocked I wasn't swollen at all after giving birth. Rhonda is a great articulator of Chinese medicine, her knowledge and experience with the theories along with diagnosis and treatment protocol is superb. Throughout the duration of the treatment, she explained to me what was going on as far as my chief complaints that I presented to her, what her plans were in regard to the treatment, and reasoning behind each point with the intentions of their usage. I've been coming to Drs Lee and Ku since January for a variety of treatments. It started with a…read morelingering cough over winter break, which cleared up after one acupuncture session with Dr Lee. Then I asked for ear seeding which Dr Ku did for me, which then evolved into fire cupping and facial acupuncture (coz I'm vain). I'm now lowkey addicted, even if my back looks like a giant (friendly) octopus gave me a hug with its tentacles. They're both very, very approachable, personable, and patient. I always ask questions to all my physicians and I can always tell when someone's itching to leave and/or getting impatient, but not once have I felt it here. Appointments are easy to schedule; while ok to call/text, it's best to do in person for multiple appointments. You'll get text messages confirming and reminding of appointments, and which you can reply to schedule appointments. One time I called wanting to schedule an appointment and Dr Lee was clearly busy but still very politely waited (until realization hit me and I let him go.)
