We did call ahead to make an appointment, but I believe that he may also do walk-ins. To start off, you fill out a form with your basic information and main concerns that you want to work on. Then, Dr. Au takes you into his office for a short consultation. He will ask you about what you listed on your form and ask questions to best pin-point your issues. He will also take your blood pressure and pulse. He can tell a lot about your body simply from taking your pulse. I'm really not a needle person so I was a bit anxious but it really wasn't painful. He even connected the needles to electiccurrent and it's a weird feeling at first but it ends up feeling like a deep tissue massage. Everything is clean and while it may not be a bougie spa vibe-- it's still very comfortable. I walked out drinking the Dr. Au kool-aid. I will be back and will be recommending to anyone and everyone.

I used to be scared to acupuncture coz no one likes to have multiple needles inserted into the body right? But after feeling the immediate positive effects of it, I'm a believer, and I think the 5 minutes of discomfort is extremely worth it for the few or multiple pain-free days I get out of it! That's my main motivation to keep coming back. If you tried PT, massage and all that and nothing seems working, give acupuncture a try. To me, effects of a massage could only provide maybe half a day of pain relief and of course the relaxation, and I'm spending $80 which gets expensive. Acupuncture is more effective and more affordable, so the choice is obvious for me. It also helps a lot that Patricia is caring, understanding, knowledgeable, skillful, honest, calm and reassuring, everything you want in a good acupuncturist. She gave me a consultation and took my pulse every time before we would go upstairs for the acupuncture session. Usually I go there for my lower back pain, but if she notices something else wrong, or if I bring something else up, then she would put the needles in the appropriate pressure points to treat that as well. I would say, out of all the acupuncturists I've had, including some in Hong Kong china, she's the most precise in terms of where to put the needles, because almost every needle going in I would feel some numbing sensation. Sometimes when it's intense, my muscle would twitch. That's a good thing because it means it's the right spot!!! Depending on your condition and the area of problem, and also depending on how hard the acupuncturist wants it to go lol, each needle would feel differently, so I can only imagine acupuncture feels different for every single person as well. But in general feeling the nerve firing up, numbness or tingling is considered normal. (The sharps of the needle is nothing compared to the sensation once the needle is in. The numbness I described is after the needle is already inside.) After having the needles in, I was able to have at least 30 mins to lie down on my stomach to rest (with needles on my back). Sometimes I would doze off because it's actually very relaxing. She would then come in to take them out and massage the spots a bit to get the blood flowing. The environment is relaxing with meditative music playing upstairs. The room is also shared with other patients, with 2 massage beds and 2 chairs spaced apart. Payment is on a sliding scale from $30-55. They don't take insurance. I hope they're doing ok with this payment method to keep the place running! It's the best acupuncture experience I've had, and I'm a regular now!

Me (being my impatient self) wanted to explore other possibilities. I'm still young and relatively healthy, so I was looking for a naturopathic option. She did an extensive consultation and walked me through the plan before we started acupuncture. She asked about things like my diet, lifestyle, and gave me great advice on what I should/shouldn't do. The next appointment was scheduled for acupuncture. I'm not sure if it was the timing or the stars just aligned. I immediately got pregnant after the first session! A pregnancy test confirmed it a month later on Father's Day. I saw her religiously during the first trimester and sparingly throughout my pregnancy. Based off my pulse, she was able to identify the baby's gender and confirmed we're having a boy! Now, a year later, we have a healthy and happy baby boy! One particular treatment where I had an active migraine, I could literally feel the pain leave my head as she moved the needles down to transition their flow (prickly sensation) to my feet- it was WILD. Not only did she help reduce my head pain and frequency significantly, but she always presented a very warm and welcoming environment. I'm not entirely a fan of needles, but she eased me into it, and ensured I was comfortable thru out the process (the heated bed helps). She always asked how each needle felt, if it needed more or less pressure, and offered to check in on me halfway thru the treatment. She also did some cupping, which was new to me, and help ease the tension coming down my neck and shoulders. Front desk staff are nice too, they remember you after a few treatments. I've been coming to Drs Lee and Ku since January for a variety of treatments. It started with a…read morelingering cough over winter break, which cleared up after one acupuncture session with Dr Lee. Then I asked for ear seeding which Dr Ku did for me, which then evolved into fire cupping and facial acupuncture (coz I'm vain). I'm now lowkey addicted, even if my back looks like a giant (friendly) octopus gave me a hug with its tentacles. They're both very, very approachable, personable, and patient. I always ask questions to all my physicians and I can always tell when someone's itching to leave and/or getting impatient, but not once have I felt it here. Appointments are easy to schedule; while ok to call/text, it's best to do in person for multiple appointments. You'll get text messages confirming and reminding of appointments, and which you can reply to schedule appointments. One time I called wanting to schedule an appointment and Dr Lee was clearly busy but still very politely waited (until realization hit me and I let him go.) Highly recommended for holistic and traditional Chinese medicine. Very bright clinic with multiple treatment rooms and Classical music adds to the overall experience.
