The white women that work here are unbelievably petty and weird…read more One saw me for intake and the other for an X-ray, and they were cattily gossiping about me in the hallway before seeing the doctor, meanwhile I'm in the room and can clearly hear every word. Nobody wants to visit a doctors office and it feels like middle school. They're very strange and have big mean girl energy for no reason. The doctor was fine but this was a sour experience because of them.

I was off my pain medication just taking Advil and all was good. I was put back into a boot and started PT. Well, then, the problem started first Dr Macknet immediately stopped seeing me and pushed me to his PA) who can't bother to return the message in my chart, then started the excruciating pain of what feels like electric shocks going through my foot. I cannot explain the amount of pain I am and it takes my breath away and makes me vomit. It is so bad. Sorry to be so graphic. I went back to see Dr. Macknet and he said well the pain is normal. Keep icing it compress it elevate it and try aromatherapy. I have no history of substance abuse I have not taken narcotics until this surgery. You can look at my history. I know they can. that was the answer I was given. I have no faith in them and I'm absolutely disgusted and their continuity of care. I would never recommend anybody to go here because I'd rather see you suffer and let you be tortured in pain than actually take care of you. If you get a referral to this practice run, find somebody else go back to Columbia, South Carolina and go see Dr. Guy. He is an amazing orthopedic surgeon. He takes care of his patience and he manages their pain. I should've done that from the start.

Excellent surgeon who took good care of my wife and her knee…read more We first started going to this practice back around 2004 when Dr. Barron's partner, David Holmsley did a knee replacement me. Last year, he did a hip replacement and we were very pleased with the care and outcome from both procedures. This is a practice with three doctors. Dr. Barron specializes on Arthroscopic Surgery of the knees, Dr. Holmsley specializes on joint replacement and Dr. Valentine specializes on the Hands. Back before Christmas, my wife hyper extended her knee and was in a great deal of pain. We met with Dr. Holmsley and he ordered an MRI and referred us to his associate Dr. Barron because this was the area he specialized in. MRI was done before Christmas and while she could have gotten in to see Dr. Barron on the day after Christmas, she was flying to Pittsburgh at that time and the next available appointment was around Jan 8th. We met with Dr. Barron and he had reviewed the MRI and the conclusion was that she had three tears in the medial meniscus plus some arthritis in the joint as well. He gave her the option of arthroscopic surgery or doing nothing in the long shot that it would heal on it's own which was unlikely. Needless to say, we chose the obvious surgery. He wanted to do it the following week but a bed was not available at the Surgery Center till the 20th. 20th came and we were first and were there at 6 am, Surgery was at 7 am but they did take her a few minutes early. By 9:30, we were checking out and heading back to Cornelius. Since then progress has been very quick and we are very pleased with the outcome. The following Monday she started Physical Therapy and is recovering strength in the knee quickly. We went back yesterday and they took the stitches out and showed my wife the pictures they had taken of the damaged tissue. She still has some swelling and bruising from the surgery but that is improving daily. Next appointment is in just over a month just prior to our trip to Israel. Very professional and great Doctor and glad my wife was in such good hands. Would recommend this practice to anyone.

I would land wrong sometimes and - OWWW!! I was thinking that maybe there was not much skiing in my future if at all, and the idea of walking a golf course seemed daunting indeed. Then I heard about Flexogenix. They examined my knees, did ultrasound and x-rays and diagnosed "moderate to severe" arthritis. They offered a treatment called Lipogems, where they extract stem cells from your love handles and inject them into the knees. I had both of them done, and while my knees felt like cement for a few days afterwards, 5 months later I was at Beaver Creek, and I hardly noticed them while skiing. As for my knees overall, the clock has been turned back by 15 years. If you have arthritis in your knees and you still have a little cartilage left, don't wait for knee replacement - go here first.

I am super grateful for the help here after my knee replacement…read more I loved working with every Physical Therapist here and they were extremely helpful. My walking has improved dramatically

My experience was subpar. They have wheelchairs in the lobby…read morebut none had foot rests. I went in for a sprained ankle. When I was up on the third floor, where their office is, there were no wheelchairs there. I went into my examining room and then a man came in to take me to x-ray. And he just said come on follow me. He walked briskly ahead of me. I had crutches, but it was a long walk and I'm an older person. I'm a senior citizen. No one offered to get me a wheelchair or help me at all halfway to the x-ray room. I passed a large administrative area with different people working on computers and I asked the group of them. If there was a chance they could get me a wheelchair. Everybody just looked at each other with a blank stare and said no all of the wheelchairs are down in the Lobby I saw them I said, but none had a foot rest. They all looked at each other with a blank stare, like oh well I said this doesn't make sense. You're an ortho care place. I would think someone could help me with a wheelchair. This is a long walk to the x-ray room. They just continued working and ignored me when I got into the x-ray room. The x-ray technician was covered in tattoos which I'm sorry I find extremely offputting at a medical facility Which should be focused on health since tattoos are inherently very unhealthy. He was course and said OK get up on the wooden box. There was a box about 7 inches elevated and I was in acute pain. He didn't offer to help at all. He walked across the room Then he snapped an x-ray without even asking me to put on or giving me time to put on the lead robe. I said wait a minute the lead robe is right here on a hook. I'd like to wear that. In an aggressive argumentative tone, he told me he only suggest those for people of childbearing age. I said I'm sorry I've never had x-rays without wearing some kind of protective lead robe so I'd like to wear this for my next x-ray his answer to me was I have four other x-rays to get in after this one. I said oh so it sounds like me wearing a robe or not is more about your schedule. Then when the PA came in to address the x-rays and explained my situation I was not offered a handicap placard for my car. As I said, I'm a senior. I have a foot that's swollen like a bowling ball and no one offered that I was also not recommended to have any physical therapy. Just a follow up appointment in three weeks. No schedule of icing was recommended nothing. I basically went there just to find out if I had a fracture or not, but they didn't give me any medical care at all. It was purely a diagnostic visit with a lot of attitude in the way I was treated. I would not recommend this place. Then I called back on the following week realizing I didn't have a handicap placard for my car. You can't actually call this place you get a call center. The person at the center said they just can't hand them out to everyone. I said no, I'm sure they can't, but if someone has their foot swollen out like a bowling ball. It seems obvious that this should be a recommendation. I didn't think of it at the time a friend had driven me there, but I'm surprised they didn't think of it and suggested I felt there was nothing in that experience at Matthew's OrthoCarolina, URGENT CARE, that was empathetic or caring at all
