The white women that work here are unbelievably petty and weird. One saw me for intake and the other for an X-ray, and they were cattily gossiping about me in the hallway before seeing the doctor, meanwhile I'm in the room and can clearly hear every word. Nobody wants to visit a doctors office and it feels like middle school. They're very strange and have big mean girl energy for no reason. I had an ankle surgery done on 10/3 with Dr. Macknet. I have been having complications since. I had my initial follow up 2 weeks after surgery and I thought I was doing well. I was off my pain medication just taking Advil and all was good. I was put back into a boot and started PT. Well, then, the problem started first Dr Macknet immediately stopped seeing me and pushed me to his PA) who can't bother to return the message in my chart, then started the excruciating pain of what feels like electric shocks going through my foot. I cannot explain the amount of pain I am and it takes my breath away and makes me vomit. It is so bad. Sorry to be so graphic. I went back to see Dr. Macknet and he said well the pain is normal. Keep icing it compress it elevate it and try aromatherapy. I have no history of substance abuse I have not taken narcotics until this surgery. You can look at my history. I know they can. that was the answer I was given. I have no faith in them and I'm absolutely disgusted and their continuity of care. I would never recommend anybody to go here because I'd rather see you suffer and let you be tortured in pain than actually take care of you. If you get a referral to this practice run, find somebody else go back to Columbia, South Carolina and go see Dr. Guy. He is an amazing orthopedic surgeon. He takes care of his patience and he manages their pain. I should've done that from the start. read more

I just had a hip replacement for the first time and was very nervous about it. This "dream team" of Nurses, CNAs, Drs. and everyone I encountered at this clinic was awesome!!! Saw Dr Dobler a couple weeks ago after a shoulder dislocation. Just got the bill for over $200 after barely having a conversation, didn't even touch my shoulder. Gave little information. I had to buy a sling in office and wasn't even showed how to properly wear it. He jumped right to an MRI and surgery without even further examination or PT first. Awful experience. Dr A. Fletcher was extremely unprofessional from the first visit throughout her lack of bedside manner in preop for two surgeries. She rolled her eyes and acted like I was a disruption to her day. She left a stitch in and ignored call when I stated I was not feeling well they all dropped the ball and it was an infection. I learned a lot from this experience and not only would I never recommend OrthoCarolina, I would never recommend Dr. Fletcher. One person of the staff that schedules appointments for PT was super rude, unpolite, and non-empathic with me. I was extremely disappointed in the way she handled my case because it made me feel bad, disrespected and guilty for arriving late for a rescheduled appointment. Instead of trying to understand what caused my delay, the person started judging me without even giving me the opportunity to talk. Then the male physiotherapist that attended me on this same appointment told me I should buy a watch, which is extremely disrespectful to say to a customer. I recently fractured my distal radius and wrist. My first cast was done incorrectly and I could slide it off of my hand with no trouble. I went to get my second cast, and once again there was no support in my wrist. This one was done by someone who has been doing cast for 20 years I was in immense pain and called them back so I could come in a third time to get it done properly. The PA that did my first cast took this one off and didn't even say a word to me about it. The doctor I saw downplayed my pain and almost seemed agitated that I was there again so I asked for a splint. the comment was made that they do casts all day every day. I told her I understood this, but they did mine wrong twice. Once I got the splint, my wrist was supported and all my pain went down drastically. It would've been nice to have a compassionate team there to acknowledge, what I've been going through but I did not receive that. I then let the doctor (Dr Wheeler) know that the splint is now fully supporting my wrist and the excruciating pain has gone away. I noted to make sure my bill does not reflect extra charges for these visits. Her only response to me was that she will let billing know. Zero compassion, zero questions regarding how I was feeling now, zero compassion about the frustration of having to come back a third time and pain I had to go through. It takes an intelligent and empathetic doctor to own up to their teams mess ups, including their own. That was not the case in this situation. Just because you think you're going to the "professionals" does not necessarily mean that is the case. Don't let the big corporate name fool you and always listen to your body. On December 28, 2021 my 14 yr son went in for scoliosis surgery and came out with a incomplete spinal cord injury. He was paralyzed from waist down from Dr. Polaski and Dr. Brighton putting a screw to far in his Spinal cord causing the injury. Do your homework and Becare who does your surgery we have a long, long road to any recovery. A 5 hour surgery turned into 11 hours and then into 56 day at 3 hospitals, $100,000+ medical bills, lawyers, fast foward 1.5 year of we are still doing therapy every week. My son will never be back to his normal life because of a "accident" that happened during a surgery. read more

Had to go back to have second surgery second Dr , Jones great guy fixed everything Great bed side manor OMG called me at home to make sure I had everything i needed. Talked to my husband about foot and care in a way he could understand. His PA Taylor Anderson fantastic will help any way he can is spot on honest will work with you . I've waited almost two wks for the Ofc Administrator to call me back in regards to my complaint via phone( on speaker) about Dr Daubert 's treatment and remarks to me during a visit; ehich my daughter was also a witness to because she was with me. Dr. Brian Loeffler / K. Reardon-P.A / Kailey Bedford-Therapist. I had surgery on 2/3/23 to repair a torn ligament in my thumb from a car accident a few months prior. Dr. Loeffler used a tendeon from the bottom of my wrist. He did an exceptional job, and I'm very pleased. I spent several weeks with Kailey doing my pt, and she did an absolutely incredible job with me. The only negative is after my surgery I did not see the surgeon anymore. They put you with his P.A. / Reardon. Do not get me wrong, he too is an incredible physician, but it would be nice to see the surgeon at least the first visit after surgery. I understand why this is done, just don't necessarily agree with it. This is a great organization, and overall; I am very pleased. My hats off to this team. read more

I love the pediatrics doctor Dr Casey. she is wonderful and her nurse is so funny. I have been bringing my son to these doctors for 13 years. They have perfomed many surgeries on him and have always done a great job. They have him in the greatest interest for his continued health. they are on the 3rd floor of the Randolph rd office. check in has always been quick. receptionist always pleasant and speaking in a low tone as she verifies address and phone number. which is nice since I dont like it when everyone in the waiting room can hear where i live and how to find out if I am home or not! x-ray techs were very nice, although one guy would not heed my instructions that if he wanted my son not to move during the x-ray he needed to be a whole lot FASTER, I understand he was instructing the other person on how to get this type of x-ray but MY son is not the person to learn on since my son does not understand don't move! my only real gripe would be parking! out front there is a horse shoe drop off area and on the exit side is about 4 parking spaces, i think they should be for oversized handicap! the parking garage is a LOW clearance garage. and my vehicle is 7 foot 11 inches! so i had to drive around for about 10 minutes until a small compact car left the front handicap parking spaces UPDATE: if you have a tall vehicle like mine. the first floor handicap is high enough. you can even enter more easily nearest the orthopedic hospital and exit in front of the orthocarolina building. there is even a covered walk way from the garage to the medical building. there is not a great deal of handicap parking in this small section, but maybe you will get lucky read more

My boyfriend got a spider bite on the back of his leg. We waited one day to go to a doctor because we thought it was minor. They looked at it and prescribed antibiotics and nothing else. (He told them he was in a lot of pain). 3 days later, the bite is worse, 5x as big, and he is limping. We called the dr and he said "oh just keep taking your medicine it'll help the inflammation." He expresses his concerns on how much larger it had spread and how swollen it was and how bad he was in pain. The doctor said he needed to wait a couple days before he could do anything else. Not admitting the fact that he hasn't cared for a patient properly!!! Wouldn't listen to him when he was expressing his concerns.. do not recommend this place read more

Do not recommend Dr. Ryan Garcia, orthopedic hand surgeon with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte. I have been seeking a new orthopedic surgeon to address an ongoing issue I have with a finger. Yesterday, I had a 8:30 am appointment. His medical assistant told me that he was in surgery (?!) so my appointment would be delayed. Not knowing whether this delay would be minutes or hours, I decided to reschedule. I then asked the medical assistant to ensure that the doctor reviewed my medical case history for my finger which was on file with OrthoCarolina. Later yesterday afternoon, the medical assistant called to tell me that Dr. Garcia would not review my case history prior to my appointment. I said, "What?! So you mean to say that the doctor will not review my finger's case history to ensure he is fully knowledgeable of the previous surgery and other failed treatments?" She responded, "No." Needless to say, I was stunned. The conversation went on a lit bit longer to ensure I understood this correctly. Yes, the doctor had no interest or the time to review perhaps 10-12 pages of text to learn of my medical history so that my appointment would be most productive for the both of us. The lack of professionalism of this doctor is hard to believe. I have never ever experienced a doctor before not wanting to get to know the patient and previous treatments. It is obvious to me that he is not interested in providing quality healthcare for his patients. I believe his medical assistant was surprised as I revealed to her his true lack of professionalism. I felt bad for her that she worked for such a unprofessional doctor. So, I submit a MOST STRONGLY NO RECOMMENDATION for Dr. Ryan Garcia. Additionally, I am not impressed at all with the OrthoCarolina Hand Center in Charlotte, so I cannot recommend them either. read more

I am very disappointed in the service i got from the front desk staff at Ballantyne Village location. I made a consult appt, arrived on time, gave my info and insurance card to the front desk. Never did she say they didn't take my insurance at THAT OFFICE. But indeed would accept it at the ROCK HILL office. The next day i got a call to pay the $500 bill for the consult and 2 xrays. I paid half upon that call then wrote to them explaining that they made the appt at that location and they took my insurance card and never said they don't accept it there. I was willing to split the bill with them as a matter of principle. I received no reply just more bills. I did see a different doctor in a completely different practice after this and was told immediately what my copay was and what my balance would be after the surgery with my deductible. Today i unwillingly paid the balance. Needless to say, ill never use this office for anything. read more

When I read these negative reviews, it makes me angry because I see people who have "self-diagnosed" and have pre-determined their own treatment. Then they get angry when the provider (the one with the education and experience) suggests a treatment other than what the patient thinks they should receive. This review is for the MRI location 2001 Randolph Rd. The first thing you notice is the office is dirty (filthy) - walls and floors are fine, but the furniture is gross. Sit on the very edge and don't touch anything dirty. Then you get to talk with the employees. Those I dealt with, leave me scared about the results of this visit. Both from a billing and med-tech perspective. It started with the receptionist - who was nice, but deeply involved with non-business conversation (gossip), not interested in updating new insurance info (early January visit). I have no faith this will be coded correctly for my insurance. From there we moved to the back. I'm here for my son's visit, he's 16. I was told an adult needed to accompany him (when the MRI was first scheduled). But now they seem bothered I'm here to accompany him. This was my first experience with the OrthoCarolina MRI location, it was a sharp and negative contrast to my experiences at their other offices. Just another reason to not want an MRI! read more

I normally do not write reviews but decided to share my experience about orthocarolina of charlotte. I went to them in March of 2020 for back surgery. My initial visit was good and was rescheduled to talk to the surgeon about scheduling surgery and reviewing my MRI. Well.. when I went to my appointment I was told by Dr. Kwon that he was not the right person to talk to and that I would need to reschedule with Dr. Laxter. I left that appointment and was back 2 days later to speak to the CORRECT Dr. Unfortunately, they still billed me for their scheduling MISTAKE. I talked to their billing department and also went to the BBB. They were still unwilling to admit fault. Be cautious when scheduling with this group. As a healthcare working myself (RN) I was extremely disappointed to have to pay for someone else's mistake. The surgeon was great but they seem more interested in making money than anything else read more

I've had both my shoulders done by Dr. Majors, as has my husband. He is an AMAZING surgeon and diagnostician. Many people say that surgeons like to cut, but the fact is, Dr. Majors is great about alternatives to surgery and with my elbow he was able to help me avoid surgery through cortisone and PT. SO thankful for that! Crystal at the front desk ALWAYS has a smile on her face, is so tremendously helpful and such a genuinely nice person! She is there before the crack of dawn and extremely efficient and on top of things! Sue and James, who support Dr. Majors directly, are fabulous! They are wonderful about making sure we have what we need before leaving an appointment, are very helpful in any calls we make post-operatively and while I know they have many patients to care for, I always feel as if my husband and I are the only people in the world at the time we are with them. We never see Dr. Majors because we are feeling good--it's a pain/injury situation, so I am doubly appreciative of how fabulous the entire practice is and how customer service oriented they are in their patient care. Kudos to the OrthoCarolina team--doing it right day after day and setting the bar for exceptional care! read more

I have seen 2 doctors now in the OrthoCarolina group and both were terrible. Dr Piasecki and Dr Dupuy were the offending physicians. Dr Piasecki did not pay any attention to my complaints and on two occasions wrote notes to my job and long term disability that contained information that was incorrect about my case. Dr Dupuy was worse. I am having back/neck/arm pain and numbness. Dr Dupuy stated (I am quoting exactly) "I don't care if both of your arms and hand go dead asleep, you sit there and work." He had no regard for any pain I was in nor did he care about doing anything about it. He stated he felt I had to work no matter how much pain I was in. He also put personal confidential information into my medical record and incorrectly reported medical information - stating I was not in pain when it was a level 7. read more

Update to my original review. I was able to see both the female PA and Dr. Darden a second time, after my MRI testing was completed. I was very impressed with both of them at my follow-up visits, as they explained the scan results well and recommended an additional test be performed to further identify the source of my pain and numbness. The PA told me it would take 4-5 days before the office would contact me to schedule the additional procedure, but she assured me it would be soon. When I did not hear back 5 days after the PA sent over the request for my follow-up procedure, I contacted the office to try to speak to the scheduler (I was told a specific lady was in charge of all tests and procedure scheduling). The office staff would not allow me to speak with this elusive scheduler directly but I was assured the test had been "ordered" and someone would be in touch within 24 hours to get a nerve study scheduled. 48 hours later, then 72 hours later, I called back a third AND FOURTH time, only to be assured again and again, that they flagged my account and "The Elusive Scheduler," who must not be named and whose phone number is unknown, would be in touch within one business day. I never received a call. Frustrated, I contacted a different practice here in Charlotte, set up a new patient appt with an orthopedic specialist, received a full evaluation, and had the exact same nerve test completed within 10 business days...all while The Elusive Scheduler was MIA. I started PT for my newly-diagnosed problem at the other practice while still waiting for OrthoCarolina to call to schedule my procedure! This past week - over six weeks after my test was reportedly ordered - I finally received a call from "The Scheduler" to set up my test!!! I explained what had occurred and received a brief apology, but no one has bothered to follow up with me since. I suspect the PA and Doctor have no idea what occurred or why I haven't returned... If I were solely rating the PA and Dr. Darden, I would give them four stars, as they seem to be excellent providers. Unfortunately, the lack of organization, unprofessional office and scheduling staff, and overall poor communication at OrthoCarolina forced me to seek care elsewhere, and for that I am leaving two generous stars. read more

Waste of time and money coming here. No one introduced themselves. No one reviewed my chart about the history and nature of the injury that I spent 15-20 minutes on the iPad describing. No treatment was given and was funneled to a follow up with one of their doctors during normal business hours. Avoid and just get a referral from your primary care provider. I went to the urgent care spine center on Randolph Road. My back was killing me and it hurt to stand. I had to stand in line for 20 minutes to check in. I was seen and x-rayed quickly after this. They told me that they were going to send in a prescription for mussel relaxers and a steroid pack to the CVS that I use - I saw a PA not a doctor. I had to stand in line for another 20 minutes to check out in even though I did not owe anything. I thought that I was going to collapse due to the pain. I drove to the CVS to find out that they never received the prescription. I call Ortho Carolina back and was on hold for over an 35 minutes. I tried the call back option on the phone prompt where they said someone would be back with you in 10 minutes first. No one every called back.. Someone finally answered and I was told that the prescription was not entered and they would get with the nurse and that she would call me back. Two hours later I called them back and was put on hold again (over 20 minutes). The nurse did finally did call me back while I was on "never ending hold". She told me that she had put in the prescription, even though someone else there told me that this did not happen; moreover, she said that she would check into this and call me back. Never happened. I am normally very nice, but I am in pain, and I have had enough. My advise - go somewhere else - I am. read more

Had a parent stay overnight after surgery. There was a skeleton crew staff. There was a problem after surgery and there was reaction of some sort. Unsure to what caused the reaction. Supposedly, my relative ended up getting very sick, and fell out of bed and removed Ivs. The following morning I spoke with a staff member that was staying in the room to watch over, because the nurses were between shifts. This staff member did not have any knowledge of my parent's condition and stated she was not a licensed medical person. My parent gave me authorization to speak with medical personnel and discussed this with the organization. However, there was no medical personnel to speak with. It's scary to think on shift turn over, the nurses do not wait for their replacements to come in and you can have a loved one respond badly to medicine or treatment and there might not be anyone around. read more
