I'm really sad to write this review, there's no real decent coffee shop near sheepshead at the moment... unless you want the generic Starbucks stuff which isn't bad either. (sometimes) So I've been getting coffee here for a while now regularly and it's honestly hit or miss, I get it simple iced coffee extra sweet and stuff, but for some reason some of the employees simply refuse to mix milk into the drink. I ask and they're like no, even though when you have a high sugar amount like I get you need to mix it in with the coffee right away not add it in myself later. Idk it's just weird if I politely ask to add milk and a barista says no do it yourself... and sometimes I'll come in and the other barista will do it no problem and the coffee tastes great. Currently for lack of better alternative I'll continue drinking the coffee and really hope that maybe something will change for the better, if it does I will gladly edit the review! For now if you're not feeling Starbucks this is the spot to go, but be ready for weird situations like mine! read more

Excited to check out this new lavish coffee shop in South Brooklyn! What a great use of this corner space I must say for a while there was nothing here so the location is pristine. The inside is very minimal and straight to the point. A latte runs you $5, and cappuccinos as well. Slightly overpriced considering coffee is a poor mans bean lol. I don't come to Sheepshead Bay often, but when I do, I often yearn for good coffee, which up until now hasn't been available anywhere close to the area. Enter Orso (Italian for bear). The espresso is solid, the cold brews are bitter (as they should be), and the flat whites are smooth. With the recent uptick in development in the area, and the influx of new residents from other parts of the city, Orso answers a calling for a solid espresso joint that serves homemade pastries, that don't have any Russian or Turkish influences (thank God). It's going to take a little while for the people in the area to realize that good coffee doesn't come from DD or Sbux, and that cold brews are bitter for a reason, but I'm sure Orso will prevail. Definitely don't sleep on this place, its a true NYC coffee shop. read more

Barista with glasses and beard is super rude and unprofessional, he refused to allow us to move a window chair to the table (we had a lot of people) claiming that customers with "strollers" wouldn't get through to the cashier. However, absolutely no strollers were in sight and there was plenty of space behind the chair. He asked us to leave. This place prioritizes stupid excuses over customer service. No food but the coffee selection is top notch. Like the matcha if you want something iced or the pumpkin spice latte(I know) if you want something warm. Both are hard to beat. Located in the best part of sheepshead hours could be longer and the space could be larger but it's the best in the area for sure. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in all of south brooklyn. The drinks are amazing, the baristas are all super welcoming and friendly, and their pastries are to die for. My favorite thing about them is that they offer a selection vegan sweets and for people who are not coffee fanatics they make incredible matcha lattes and turmeric lattes! They also have a great selection of non dairy milks that I haven't seen in any coffee shops in south brooklyn! LOVED! Got a iced dark mocha (as per recommendation of the owner) with 3 shots of espresso and it was absolutely amazing! There were little mocha balls from the powder in my coffee which I loved crunching on while sipping! They also have delicious gluten free pastries (chocolate PB&J and raspberry jam thumbprints) and a really cool beverage selection that I can't wait to try on my next visit! I was on my way to Munchinette across the street (which is delicious, by the way) when I decided to stop by Orso Coffee to satisfy my Matcha Latte fix. The place is quaint and has cute decoration. You definitely get the hipster-cafe vibe. The cashier/barista was friendly and helpful. I ordered an iced matcha latte with skim milk. Because it's a private business, I expected the price to be lower than chain competitors (like Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Peet's Coffee, etc.) However, a 12 oz. was almost $6 including taxes. The matcha flavor was faint and just tasted like sweet milk. Needless to say, I was disappointed. There is no justification for the outrageous prices. I travel A LOT, and I've never paid that much for anything from any cafe-- not even in Manhattan or at airport cafes. Considering the quality, they should reconsider their prices. I also asked the barista if they have any flavored sugar-free sweeteners (like hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, etc.) and he said they don't. That should be standard for any coffee shop. read more

Saw this place on my way home from the train station and decided to try it. I got an iced almond milk latte which was super smooth and not acidic. The mocha danish was also really good! I also tried their iced matcha latte another time and it was good but could have had more matcha flavor. Will definitely be back for the almond milk latte though! read more

Cool concept and idea but I was not impressed. I stopped by for an iced coffee and this was unfortunately the first iced coffee that I ever tossed right away. It was really bitter. It was also over $5 with a "suggested" tip at checkout. The decor is nice and the place itself is cute. The worker was also on the phone while taking my order - just not great customer service. Everyday I look forward to getting my morning coffee so much! I've been to all coffee shops in the neighborhood and finally decided to give a try to Orso and I am regretting very much. I ordered my medium Americano with no milk, cream or sugar (one may think what can go wrong here, it's just espresso and water) it was too hot to try it on the spot, so I got into my car and drove to work. When I got to the office I took a sip and it was like I was drinking water! Apparently they put only one espresso shot for a medium sized cup, which is not how its supposed to be made. Now I'm stuck at work with coffee water :( Also a medium Americano at Orso was $3.60 which is almost a dollar more than anywhere else in the area. Not going back read more

Always liked that place. Until the experience I got today. Was hurrying up to get my fav latte w/ oat milk before they close. Checked the working hours and found parking. Was there 15 mins before closing, however, the girl at the counter told me it is 5 (!) min to close and she already cleaned the machine. I don't understand why would you clean the equipment even a minute before closing. It's WORKING hours, not cleaning or preparing or whatever hours. read more

Had terrible experience at this joint. Bearded guy at the counter with glasses doesn't know customer service from a hole in the wall. I was with regular customer friends and he literally asked us to leave because we used a chair that apparently blocked the passage way for strollers. First visit to Orso Coffee today- this area needed a great coffee joint! Comfy seats to chill out with large windows to look out on the street. The barista was friendly and knew her stuff- she really knows how to make a fab drink. Had a cortado and croissant. Also tried the draft cold brew- among the best I've had!
