I had heard some good things about this place so we finally decided to give it a try. We both got the lunch special- me, the chicken fajitas, my husband the huevos rancheros. We both got lemonades to beat the ridiculous heat. The fajitas were awesome but my husband said his dish was just "okay" which is why it wasn't 5 stars. Chips and salsa were good, quick service, spent $20 altogether with a nice tip and walked out happy after about 45 minutes. We will be back! read more

Taco salad was delicious! I called in due to amount of patrons that I notice that was at the restaurant on a daily basis. My order was available when I arrived and the cashier was very friendly and attentive to the customers. Recommended to me as I was leaving NFCU on Hampton Blvd. I asked a sailor in uniform if there was a restaurant nearby so that I didn't go to the commissary on an empty stomach. He told me not to get in my car...just walk across the lot to this Mexican restaurant. He said, "I'm Mexican and I love it there!" He let me know that the meals were usually under $10 and the portions were large. When I arrived there every table was filled with military members in uniform so I felt right at home...only 3 tables with people in civilian attire. It took less than 5 minutes to be seated...no one waiting ahead of me. While I waited for a table one of the waitresses and I established an instant friendship. My waiter could barely speak English but he was pleasant and brought my drink, chips and both the white sauce and salsa promptly while I selected from the menu. I ended up with the number one which costs $6.75 and a margarita for $5.75. I agree with all the reviews...this place is the only sit-down restaurant near the base, has fast service, courteous servers, fair prices, a tasty margarita and the food is not packed full of flavor but acceptable. While my waiter was busy there was another waitress who spoke with me, gave me recommendations for the next time and she packed up my leftovers for me even tho I told her I'd be happy to if she'd provide containers. She recommended the fajitas after I'd placed my order. My food arrived hot. The taco had a dry look, no sauce, very little flavor, melted white cheese that also had very little flavor. The chile rellenos was okay. I'll try the taco salad next time. It's definitely worth a second visit when I'm in the area again. read more

If you're from California or the states near California, this will not be the Mexican food you can expect from home. Great experience! In town for a conference and this restaurant was in walking distance! We went during happy hour (5pm-9pm) and enjoyed yummy margaritas! The wait staff was all pleasant and all worked together to keep drinks and chips full!! I had the taco carne asada with extra limes and they were on point!! It's a good Hispanic restaurant and you can't find many around here. Immediately when you walk in they have mexican music playing and the decor is very fit for the place. I love how they have a variety of options not just your basic plates. Im biased because I'm Hispanic and most restaurants are Americanized. The service is great. They immediately sit you and bring out chips. I ordered horchata and they serve it to you in a big styrofoam cup. Not good for the earth but it is delicious . For my entré I ordered tacos de carne asada. It came quick. They give you sauce and onion and cilantro on the side . I don't know what the sauce was, but I did not like it. It had a weird sour taste to it and it wasn't even spicy. The. Eat itself for the tacos was a bit salty but the cilantro and onion evened it out. I did ask for a bag of chips and salsa to take home and they were nice about bringing me a fresh batch and everything. I pass this place often as I live nearby. There weren't many customers at all but the food was served faster than I ever had been served at a place that wasn't fast food. In fact, they gave me my food before my husband ordered, strange. The stuffed chile Relleno was reslly good and filling.
