I don't enjoy leaving 1-star reviews, but Orkin is more than deserving. Over the past year, their service has been an absolute disgrace. They are serial no-shows and fail miserably at basic communication. I've had to call them three times just to get a callback. After some backyard work, I needed our termite bait stations relocated. On my third call, I mentioned my repeated attempts to the CSR. Her response? She'd note for the manager that it was my third time attempting to contact them, as that usually "lights a fire under them." The fact that this is their standard practice is infuriating and highlights their incompetence. Several days later, I finally received a callback. We scheduled a time for them to relocate the bait stations between 8-10am today. Guess what? It's 11:30am, and Orkin is a no-show yet again, with no courtesy call or explanation. Signing up with Orkin is hands down the worst decision I've made as a new homeowner. They have failed spectacularly at every turn. As a professional in the home services industry, I can confidently say Orkin is a textbook example of how not to run a business. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy unless you enjoy wasting time and enduring endless frustration. Avoid Orkin at all costs. read more

I didn't even want to rate a 1 star. I had a quote for treatment of a garage. Then when tried to reach out to get paperwork to sign the tech ghosted me. I even calked the office and they assured Mr that someone would call me back that morning. 4 days later I've heard nothing. Another company came our and the quote was more than doubled. Didn't even show up to the first appointment. Took off work to meet them, waited for hours, they no call no showed. I called the customer service number and after being transferred numerous times and put on hold they said they couldn't reach the tech or any of the service managers and i would have to wait for a call back to see if they were even coming out still. That it could be tomorrow that i get a call. i explained i couldn't take off work another day and i wouldn't be here tomorrow to let them in. I took off TODAY for this appointment. They did not care at all, the rep said she's located in Louisville KY and she doesn't know anyone in Cincinnati and she cant help me. I cancelled the service and wasted a PTO day for nothing. Two no shows, and the next time they never came to the door or attempted to enter. Appeared in yard for approximately 32 seconds and sprayed children's sprinkler and my security camera with pesticide and left, not I'm treatment area indoors or on perimeter. Horrible! read more

I signed up for a service and the tech told me I didn't need everything they put on the quote so he quoted me less and performed less services (and I signed that). When the charge came through it was for the full amount of what they quoted me so I called and they did credit me then but then a few days later charged me again. When I called back they said they don't know why the tech quoted me what they did but the amount was actually the higher amount. I told them I would not pay it bc it was more than what I signed for. They never came back for my next service bc I didn't pay that. A month or so later someone called me and said I needed to pay that and again, I explained why I wasn't going to and she said the extra charge was not for the increase in service but the monthly payment due. i said OK, I didn't know that so I will pay it online. I went online to pay and my balance was zero bc they had already sent to collections. So I waited to get the collections notice and I paid it to the collections dept. I then called back to schedule my service since it was paid and they would not re-instate my account, so now I paid for the initial sign up and a months worth and got one service. I will find someone else to use, they are shady and rude. read more

Orkin came out unwilling to find the termite traps telling me it was my job to find them. Then two weeks later after I marked all traps clearly Service Manager Virgil said between 12 and 1 with a half hour call. I got the call but two hours later a NO SHOW! I call back the number ~ service man said there was a backup on 275 with laughing and talking in the background. Had a problem with cockroaches in my apartment and called, someone came out right away and treated my apartment, we set up a follow-up one week later which he did not show up for or call about. A couple days later I saw two more roaches (despite their guarantee) and called to see if someone could come out. No one answered or called me back...very disappointed as the service was not cheap and they supposedly have a guarantee. read more

Disappointed. I have a bed bug problem and used Orkin. First of all, I had a couple scheduling problems. One technician never showed up at all, so I had to reschedule. Another was 1 hour late. They sent a different tech almost every time, and they didn't seem to know what the last tech did. Worst of all, I know I still have bed bugs even though at the last and final visit, the tech said he saw none. But I'm still getting bit. I still have a couple weeks left in my 30 day guarantee, but I don't have a lot of trust in them. read more

We contracted with Orkin Inspector Richard Struck on August 31st (2018) to do 2 treatments on a large Hornets Nest in the tree in the front of my yard. To this day no one has shown up to treat the nest. I was able to reach Richard once by email (he said he had been on vacation for the past 3 weeks and thought someone had treated the nest) and once by phone on the 4th week where he stated he would check into it have the techs leave me a document in the mail box when they complete each treatment. Again, no one has shown up and we have received no documents. Orkin needs to refund my $240.75 ASAP. We have sent numerous emails and phone calls the past 2 - 3 weeks with no respond and no answers on his phone number. I won't give up!!! read more

I asked for a pet friendly service & received something that was not.  I was told that spray & bait would be used & I agreed to that.  I removed my dogs out of the house for an hour after the service as recommended but one of my dogs became very ill within 24hrs. After reviewing the service report, I learned that orthoboric acid granules were used around the perimeter of my house including inside the fenced in area where my dogs could get to it.  I didnt agree to this nor do I even have knowledge it had been used.  Even more upsetting was the responses from the techs as I tried to get information on how to best treat my dog.  Saying, what was used wasnt "toxic" to dogs and they don't typically go out & eat things off the ground. My dog was ill for 5 days & on watch with my vet for dehydration. My service was indeed not pet friendly & my dog (& carpets) paid the price. I will not recommend Orkin nor use it again in the future. read more

I was a repeat customer with a new problem in November 2017. Rodents had come up through the sewer line and gotten behind a basement vanity wall where the waste stack joins the sewer through the foundation, near some broken pavement. The customer sales rep did a thorough inspection and recommended a plan to start the next day. I agreed and the tech arrived as scheduled. I explained to both rep and tech the urgency of finishing the work by Thanksgiving. But immediately it was clear the two hadn't communicated and the tech didn't see the rep's prepared report. The tech seemed confused and reluctant and I urged him to call the rep; don't believe he ever did. Talked with the service manager, who sent both rep and tech back separately to reevaluate. Each looked around more and talked about accessing the broken pavement behind dry wall. Each had a suitable plan, but slightly different from the other's. The tech laid a few traps, but other work recommended by the rep either never happened or I had to remind the tech. Work ceases, days pass, and by Nov. 10 nobody is returning my calls. Nov. 11 I can hear the rodents as well as smell them and see their droppings. Still no call-backs. Left another message that day and on Nov. 14 without response. On Nov. 13 the city health department techs visited and seem baffled by Orkin's inactivity, but the department doesn't supervise Orkin. Nov. 15 I wrote Orkin to cancel the service on account of abandoning the job. The service manager called back a few hours later, but didn't try to make things right. I'll have to start over with another service. I can't convey in this review how disappointed I am in Orkin. What kind of business model is this? Zero stars is appropriate. read more
