LA VIP style salon service! I didn't know anything about Origins. I was at the 10 TOR next door, having a beer with a friend on the patio. I saw the building and it seemed so quaint and small that I thought it may have been an app/web/ crypto start-up. A few minutes later, an eye-catching woman in a totally awesome, bomb-ass coat & boots walks into the bar and back to the building in a few minutes. I knew it had to be a company that was beauty focused in some way. I had been semi-shopping for a new stylist, but not knowing many people here, I had to do my own research. My friend, then mentioned to me that he heard this company was a salon or skin care company. So....., looked them up, not many reviews. Made appointments, but didn't hear back right away. So, I got pro-active and did a walk in. I knew enough that I wanted to book with Amy. She wasn't there, but the manicurist /nail art tech, Tara-showed me where exactly on the website to book. I saw Amy yesterday. I was a bit early and the place is so comfy and vibes are good I didn't mind waiting at all. Tara offered me a drink right away. I wanted to wait a bit until after I officially met Amy and talked hair for a bit. (They stock craft beer and fresh distilled vodka & gin from their neighbors at 10 TORR for their clients, btw). Finally, the tall, blondish, amazingly outfitted, attractive smiling Amy makes her appearance. I felt comfortable right away! We hit it off immediately! It turns out she went to USC, so she knows LA more than most. So we talked hair. Mine is long, fine, curly and highlighted. I had only been getting my roots done for a while and somehow,the last person I went to, started using a darker base than what had wanted. So It was like 1/4 of my hair was med/dark brown and then...Boom! Gold-ish. This had to be fixed. She actually had some extra time because of a cancellation. She cut my hair dry, which is great because of my curls tend to shrink, then threw some great conditioner on the parts that weren't going to be foiled. She actually went with low-lights which went better with the brown on the top of my head. Then I was blown and styled. I was served fresh distilled vodka & soda in a pewter tumbler!! With fresh lime!! OMG!! This kind of service would have cost me at least $300 in the door in La-la land! After , she gave me a tour of the other companies that are in the space, plus a cool wine bar! She gave me all kinds of recommendations of where to go, who to meet....that kind of stuff. Oh and the other stylist,(Louis? Apologize, can't remember) fed me fruit! Amy is a true artist. I do dig her space. She has a tree in there, like a tall one that has Basque carvings in it! She hauled that tree over herself! Can you tell I am recommending her? Uh, yeah. Highly so. read more

I totally agree with the review submitted by Taylor G. I thought I'm the only with that experience. Now it confirms that this salon needs good professional etiquette.. I made my first appointment with Amy for a haircut , color and highlight . You would think she will WOW new client with promptness and enthusiasm, right? WRONG!!... She replied to me after 3 text messages and numbers of calls to her cellphone and landline. (But i am a very patient person by nature , so no big deal) iFinally she texted me back telling me someone cancelled and can take me in ( oh wow thank you!!!). She came in 15 min late in the salon on my first appointment... (it's a turn off , but no big deal) . For me, as long as the hairstylist will do a good job and will make me feel happy with my hair... all other things are negligible. Unfortunately, my haircut was BAD and i was not happy with the result of my highlight. She offered me to come back to redo the highlights .... but when i called back again after few days.... she never returned any of my voicemails and text messages and completely ignored me. What she did to my hair ( shaving the back of my hair unevenly ) was very frustrating , but because I am a very nice person and thinking it was both our first time ... i wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt that maybe the second time around will turn out better.... but i was so disappointed how she treated and ignored me. Saw this place while at 10Torr and decided to check it out. So glad I did, Amy is wonderful. I don't know how she did it but she managed to somehow cut my hair but it ended up making it look longer! Which was amazing because I didn't want to lose any length but had to trim the dead ends off. The color is great, and she did an awesome job. My husband loves it and I can't remember my Yelp password so this review is from both of us! Very happy customers and I will be back for sure! read more

*Long story short- Amy cut me off and hung up with me on the phone when I tried calling to cancel my appointment. I tried calling the store multiple times with every call going to voicemail, so I made an appointment through their website 3 WEEKS ago, and expected to hear a confirmation within a few days. The confirmation came a whole week and a half later ​after I had decided to book an appointment with Salon Platinum. I tried calling the salon again to cancel the appointment that I never thought went through ​and left a brief voicemail. A few minutes later I get a call from a different number, who ended up being the lady who I made the appointment with. She said she heard my voicemail, and asked if there was anything she could do to change my mind. I said "no, unfortunately​,​​ I already made another appointment with-" where she abruptly cut me off saying, "Yeah I heard your voicemail bye." and HUNG UP on me. Last time I'll ever consider Origins Salon for anything because they can't answer the phone or even update the number online, and she cut me off when she realized she wouldn't get business​ from me! read more

I had the BEST experience at Origins. I really have a hard time trusting hair dressers on my hair but I'm so glad that I picked this place! At first I was intimitated by the location (Arlinton and California) but they made me feel so welcome. I was having such a horrible day but then I met Amy who made me feel like I'm at home. I got in on short notice with the owner, Amy. She was very personable and professional and I was very comfortable in the salon. I have short hair and usually I do get cute cuts in SF where I live, but I wanted to try Origins while visiting Nevada. Amy's cut not only looked incredible, but also grew out very well over the next 7 weeks. Amy and her team take the time, as they say, to "find the style within you," which means asking lots of questions and discussing options for your face shape, tastes, and lifestyle. Made a BIG Mistake in not going to Amy...but because of timing instead went to one of her chair rental people, Louie. I am a very busy business man and at the beginning made it clear that timing was difficult...canceled 2 times with plenty of notice..rescheduled each time. Today was informed via my wife, that he was not going to accept an appointment with me. WOW...didn't have the guts to call me! Well the haircut never was that great..and now he has lost two more clients. Must have lots and lots of business, although always said he was empty!
