I decided to give this place a try due to the better than average reviews for Chinese places on Yelp but I was very disappointed when I tried the food. I ordered General Tso's chicken and I can definitely say it's worst General Tso's chicken I've ever had. FINALLY Found a solid spot! Ordered last night, I'm located outside their delivery area but the owner made an exception b/c I was so close. Was told it would be an hour to an hour and a half. Okay, no problem, food arrived in about 40 minutes. EVERYTHING was excellent. We orders the lo mein, general tso's chicken combo and fried chicken wings.Hands down the best general tsos chicken I've ever had. The white meat chicken was fresh and delicious. WOW....just...WOW. Found my new chinese food niche. First lets start with the hot n sour soup. Every other place makes it either too vinagery, mysterious vegetables, or just watery. These guys got it spot on. There is only ONE other place in Jersey that can make it awesome. The portion size was filling. The egg rolls were DELICIOUS N CRISPY. Very very happy, we had Sesame chicken, General tso's chicken and House special fried rice...And they delivered to my house, and the food was packed well - hot - and in a reusable bag!!! I have tried just about every Chinese food from Passaic to Clifton and this is my favorite. Honestly not sure where to start. Placed order at 8:30pm-ish, give or take 5-10 minutes. 60$ order placed online and was told it would be here in an hour. At 9:50pm we called the restaurant to let them know the order never came and asked what was going on. Person on the phone told us it would be another 10 minutes due to them having the order made but waiting for delivery driver. In our head we thought, nice our food is sitting there getting cold but at least we'll be having dinner at 10:10ish, yes we're that close, 2.5 miles to be exact. 10:30 hits and at this point we're planning on going to bed hungry. Then we get a call at 10:40pm. We walk down and upon opening the door we see the driver sitting it the car. Awesome! We have food. Driver stays in the car for another 2-4 minutes while we're standing on the stoop. He walks around the car to the passenger side and asks us "you order food?" We smile and nod and collect the food. Get upstairs and open the cold containers to find half raw chicken, raw fan tail shrimp, uncooked fried rice or rice that's been sitting for hours and tasted dried out and raw chicken on a stick. Needless to say we threw everything out and will NEVER order from this garbage can again. Wish Yelp had Half star reviews or lower because that's what they'd be getting. Never offered to comp us anything after the food was already 30 mins late. Then everything showing up raw, showing they never had the order ready and then rushed it. They're our regular Chinese place and for a few reasons. Food is good, quick and they always have a smile on their face.

Oriental Garden is AMAZING. Yes, they're mostly just your normal Chinese food joint. But they ALWAYS try to do right by you. Accidentally put eggs with your rice? They'll ask if you want another batch or will just give it to you without charging you. You give them some homemade food? They'll do you the favor right back! The customer service here is fantastic as well. The older gentleman is EXTREMELY friendly. He always greets me with a smile when I walk in to the door. I haven't been here in years once I left for college, but he still treats me really well when I walk in that door! read more

Best Chinese food I've had in the tri-state! The owners there are extremely nice and very hard working. They make sure to get your order right the first time and make it fast yet fresh. Their food taste delicious and does not taste like reheated or refried frozen food. The earlier in the day the better for fresher food. Their chicken and broccoli as well as boneless BBQ ribs, are the best I've had from any state that I've been. The prices are fair and you get a free drink if you order over a certain price. Their fortune cookies are great as well and not burnt or soggy as I've seen at other places. The only negative thing about them is their location. I wouldn't Reccomended eating at their location just because it is small and crowded and probably never was intended for eating in. This Chinese Takeout... Oriental Garden... on Broadway... in Passaic... on the Passaic/Clifton border... used to be run and managed by the Wong family up until a couple of years ago. When the Wongs had it it was hands-down the best Chinese Food Take-Out there was. The place was clean. The food was remarkable. But since then the place has changed hands.... twice... I believe. Mr & Mrs Wong got older, their children graduated and went onto College to pursue better careers, and no one in the family had interest in continuing the family's restaurant business. They sold it and it's good name to another family. I believe that family either still has the business or perhaps sold it to yet another family. Nonetheless I gave it a try even though I knew it changed hands and read the other ratings posted. I wasn't expecting the same but was still expecting good quality Chinese food. Well... I was disappointed. I ordered Boneless Spare Ribs. and Pork Fried Rice. I also ordered Dumplings and Win Ton Soup.... typical Chinese fast food dishes. The Boneless Ribs were dry.... had no sauce... and had a gamey smell... a foul odor.... and a terrible sour taste to them. I did not finish. This was bad pork or pork close to being spoiled and I knew it. The Fried Rice was dark yellow instead of brown or tan and was full of tumeric which made it bitter. There was very little if any pork at all in the Fried Rice and hardly any vegetables. It was dry as a tack. The Dumplings .... I bit into one of these and the meat tasted sour and let out a pungent odor. I immediately spit it out and washed out my mouth. I've loved and eaten Chinese food for years. I know when bad food has been served to me. This place is NOT AT ALL what it used to be. They better clean up their act before they make someone sick or kill someone from food poisoning. They are not serving fresh food. They are not. I miss the Wongs. I wish they could have continued to hold onto this place. I gave the newer owners a shot. They failed miserably. I did get sick off of the amount I did ingest. I was sick for 4 days. Don't eat here unless they clean up their act and serve fresher food..... especially meats like pork. read more

Inedible. We ordered a Pu pu platter for two and steamed dumplings. The dumplings were the only thing edible. Egg rolls tasted like plastic... duck sauce from a packet is crap. shrimp wontons and teryaki beef had been fried at least three times. We were starving driving back to Boston and this is what was open. The service was extremely friendly which is what the one star is for. I hope that this was an off night. read more
