After ordering from Oriental Express for many, many years...it's been our exclusive Chinese Take-Out place since my parents moved to Wallingford in 1998, I am completely disappointed! My family ordered lunch, using both numbers and dish names. It took about 10-15 minutes to order and provide a credit card because the woman put the phone down and took other orders (we could hear), but we assumed they were busy. The woman said it would take "a while...about 45 minute" since they were busy. Ok. It took over an hour...fine. We take out the food and have one wrong order. I call, because it was something I couldn't eat, and the woman offers a $5 credit (less than the cost of the dish sent) or to send the correct dish. I ask for the correct dish, since I can't eat what was sent. I'm starving at this point. I eat the rice out of the dish and leave the breaded chicken (I can't eat breading). The woman calls back at least 25 minutes later telling me that I didn't order...no, my aunt did...and that the other woman told her sweet & sour chicken, not chicken and cashews. I know this is wrong because 1. we wrote down both the number and dishes and 2. I heard her read it all out from our list. The woman gets rude, keeps saying no, no, no, and asks why I can't eat the original dish. I tell her (again) that I can't eat breading...we had this conversation when I first called. She says she will send out the correct dish and that since I can't eat it, she will take back the sweet & sour chicken. FINE! Now it's 2:18...we called for the original order at noon. Does this sound like good customer service? Why would we go through the trouble of tricking a Chinese Restaurant for $6? Their food isn't good enough to treat people like this. read more
