I couldn't believe how big this place actually is just from the front door. They have plenty of tables inside with a giant buffet a the far end of it . They are open on Tuesdays ,but the page said closed. The prices are great ! Around 11.00 for lunch you simply can't get a meal like this for that price . Everything looked good. I didn't use the hibachi area, but will look to do that next week when I come again. The food is half Chinese food half American with salmon, ribs,wings all being stars . The interior goes for dark pseudo-elegance, though all you'll have eyes for is the massive buffet-in-the-round. There's a lot of buffet here: sushi, some sort of hibachi or Mongolian bbq set-up, standard Chinese-American entrees and appetizers, fruit, jello, dessert tray, ice cream. It's appealing just on the basis of there being SO MUCH to choose from. A lot of the food is very standard Chinese buffet, like "back up the truck, Jon, here comes the pepper beef!" The pepper shrimp is really good; the variety of seafood dishes is appealing; and the salads include the one with the marshmallows and whipped cream. You can't beat a clean buffet with a $7.99 lunch. The owners were super nice. The food looked like it just came off of a tv commercial. Plenty of options, some like a typical buffet, others you can tell that the chef was feeling creative. There was a guy making sushi, and a guy doing hibachi... The reason we go to a buffet type restaurant is for variety. I will give them that to start. I started with a soup (wonton) and usually like the crispy fried noodles you can add. i was a bit disappointed as the noodles were just cracker like. Many more choices moving on such a honey, chicken and many of the usuals. spicy chicken sweet-and-sour chicken you name it. I just seemed like there was something missing from the flavors. Don't get me wrong they weren't bad just not great. I did love their shrimp. It was light and very flavorful. Anything that was stuffed was not flavorful and very compacted, whether it be a shrimp a mushroom or whatever. and it was the same stuffing in everything that was stuffed. The fishes, including salmon and tilapia, many others looked great. I have no room in me to taste them. another time perhaps. The salads and desserts all looked fresh again. It would take another visit or two to even try them all. I did only try the ice cream and it was OK and cool and refreshing. To tap it off I tried a little cake that looked like a chocolate truffle, and it was really delicious. There's not much to say about the ambience other than it was a little dark. The service was minimal dropping off napkins, a fork, and my water, taking a couple of dishes away and bringing the check that's all you need really. i'm not sure there was anything so fantastic to bring me back to this place as for even a lunch was pricey at 15+ dollars to be fair I would like to see what their dinner is like. I've got to be honest. I was looking forward to returning to the Asian Buffet which I've always enjoyed and given high ratings to. This past June was horrible. The fried breaded shrimp which is my favorite tasted as if an entire bucket of salt was dumped into it. It was inedible and ruined my meal. I woudl give it 3.5 stars if I could... - To its credit it5 doesn't reek of dead fish and shellfish (Many do...) and positives: - There is an abundance of fresh fruit and sheet (sheet cakes are offered in small squares) and baked goods (from cream-filled puffs to generic cookies and flan) including a small ice-cream station. - Unlike some regional buffets, the 'bread chicken' offerings like the General Tso, Honey-chicken, and 'Chicken Hibatchi' tend to not sit in a small bath of 'chicken juice' (i.e Chicken Hibatchi cooked with a lot of generic veggies) (i.e if they have chicken or beef excess they make the otherwise unused protein to quick cook a whole dish for the buffet...). - If you are a fan of 'raw bar' seafood like clams , mussels,and shrimp. this place is LOADED. The whole side of the buffet seems devoted to Tilapia and Salmon filets, Clams and Unpeeled shrimp on ice beds, dishes with mussels, etc. - Even though they are 'fillers', their hot and sour soup is decent (though not as hot or sour as I like) and noodles are3 dfec3nt. The fried rice though, I wish It was pork-fried rice. It tastes closer to Mexican made yellow-rice. (No not the fluffy, tomato infused red-rice they all serve on the side, but the yellow-colored rice with peas and carrots mixed in.) Negatives.... - I cannot speak to the ethnicity of EVERY cook or decider in the place, but they are entirely unawares of what Western/American eater like in salads. For example, you can tell they spend about 20 seconds peeling Iceberg lettuce leaves for salads. Broken Romaine lettuce? Nil. Raddiccio or chopped radishes? Red onions? it may be that they chop up some veggies they use for Chinese Dishes...but as it stands, their entire salad bar is lacking. - There was a nice buffet inHamden until Co-Vid put it under. One dish they often had that others did not: Jalapeno-Chicken. Add in some chopped onions and three-color bell peppers and BAM...a new dish. They should adapt it. - As far as their singular attempt at American Pizza goes? Too much cheese and not enough sauce. Not that I expect gourmet at a Chinese Buffet but they should at least make a better effort. They do mac and cheese and french fries and some other 'americanized' dishes well... - The Sushi is (1)Unlabeled, (2) You have no idea if it's yesterdays sushi or if its cold until it even hits your lips and you have no clue how long it has been waiting...It's comparable to "gas station sushi" (3) I have never seen a Sushi chef or them deliver fresh sushi. For all I know, it may have been sitting there for 3-4 hours before I ate it... - I suppose this is more to say about customers than anything else but the Won-ton Soup Dumplings are always picked clean. I have nothing but deep love and admiration for this family owned and operated, Asian restaurant. It's not based off my bias personal relationship with the family but the essence of the business; how it's ran, maintained, cleaned, and the quality of food. The way the handle discrimination, persecution, and riddle by many ill mannered individuals from all ranges of identifiable factors, yet they still serve with kindness, professionalism, and aim to keep it affordable without sacrificing the nutritional value of each creation. It's impeccable! As for food waste, they organically process and repurpose everything--there is minimal to zero waste! They can accommodate a massive party or just an individual. These people are true gifts to the community and I only hope that others come to this realization as well. Cooks, servers, managers, restraint workers--are people, not slaves, not servants, not 2nd class citizens. Treat those as you wish to be treated. On a shopping trip to buy the kid some new clothes we ended up at Asian buffet. A buried in the back of a plaza Chinese buffet. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. The food was decent. The soda completely flat syrup taste. Most of what I had was ok about the same as mediocre Chinese take out level. The stand out dishes were crab Rangoon's and garlic bread to me. All in all it was decent nothing stand out by any means. But then again we do buffet cause it's a little of this little of that without having to order a pint plus of whatever dish for the table. First off, I ate here around 550. The food was hard as a rock and when the new food came out they dumped it on the new food. The food had a strange smell that it was not fresh. I have a food license and this food was dangerous to eat. I have never seen wanton soup where the broth was so damn salty and dark looking and the wantons were hard. I went up to see what else I could eat and they finally changed the broth and it was good. The point of this review is that I would not waist $20 a person to eat here. Been here a few times. Great selection of different kinds of foods. I love the sushi bar and hibachi grill. Great for large groups, or just a quick bite to eat for two. They do have some healthy choices if your on a diet. The staff is always on top of getting you drinks and they are friendly to assist in getting you a seat and things that you need. I walked all around before starting at the beginning and carefully picking my food. They were putting everything out, fresh and hot. I only took one or two pieces of veggies, chicken, fish, etc. so I could try it all and not waste food. Loved the white fish, California rolls, Honey Chicken, fried pork rice, all the desserts! The overall personality of this restaurant is that of a semi neglected college cafeteria. The fries tasted microwaved, the hibachi grilled pork had a lovely texture but lacked flavor, and even my sprite was overpowered with ice. I work in the area and come here for take-out lunch a few times a month. I'm always greeted when I enter, the place is clean, the buffet is full, they have a great variety and the prices are good too. There's hibachi, sushi, your standard asian buffet dishes (general tso's chicken, lo mein, soups, spring and egg rolls, etc) and many other dishes to choose from. Not much more to say because as I said I'm usually in and out. Whenever I stop in there are several other patrons but it's never too crowded which I like. I will say this is the cleanest buffet inm6 opinion. That's the last nice thing I really have to say. I'm disabled and went there in my wheelchair with my son to pick up take out. We got 4 containers, not overly packed, no seafood or anything special. They charged us $78.00!! They charged us $.30 for bags, obviously seeing I'm handicapped and can't carry. The price menu sheet they used to have taped on the counter was gone, and when I asked for a reciept, I was told they couldn't print one out. Never will we go there again. I really do not have one bad thing to say, This is the world's best Chinese buffet. For all the doubters, I call you kray-zay, I'll be stuffing my face as you all nay-say. I love Chinese buffets, and I have never had such a flawless experience as the one I had at Asian Buffet last night. The place was new, the decor was modern, and the restaurant was inviting. I was greeted at the door by a very nice host who brought us to our table. We went through all the normal buffet protocol and then we went up to check out the spread. Holy Sushi! There were about 5 types of regular sushi rolls, 5 types of sashimi, and maybe 7+ specialty rolls which included a Rainbow Roll, one that was fried, and a bunch of other ones with spicy sauce, avocado, and all kinds of unique combos. For a buffet, it was all phenomenal! Ridiculously fresh. Some of my favorite hot plates were the Hong Kong Chicken, Honey Chicken, and the Mac & Cheese (so creamy!). The buffet is set up in a large circle to allow you to just keep going around and around until you load up your plate. Because of this there were also less potential collisions with fellow buffet-ers. It was also my Dad's birthday, and our waitress made him a nice little brownie tower and wrote out "Happy Birthday" with Sweet & Sour sauce. Very creative! I lied in my poem above. The only negatives of the night were: 1. No ice cream cones (I was jonesin' for one) 2. No coconut ice cream (My mom's favorite) After dinner you could shop at Burlington Coat Factory and/or Marshall's while you digest. The buffet is also right next to a Weight Watchers (LOL). For $10.99 for dinner and $7.99 for lunch, there is no better deal in the area. read more

It has your standard Chinese buffet fare, what you see is what you get, and you get what you pay for. My brother and I stopped in for the first time for lunch today. We had driven past it several times since it opened and saw the many signs put up to advertise its recent opening. I wasn't sure how well a buffet could do in a plaza where everything closes or leaves (RIP Linens 'N Things, Old Navy, Chuck E. Cheese's, that liquor store that lasted less than a year, etc.), but it was pretty hopping at lunchtime today. It was very nice inside, with lots of tables and a good buffet setup. There were rows of your usual Chinese buffet foods, a row of desserts and ice cream, a sushi area, and a hibachi area where you could choose your various raw meats for the hibachi chef to cook up. We decided to skip the hibachi and tried a little of everything else. Some things were pretty mediocre, and some of the fried foods were pretty greasy, but all in all, it was a fine buffet. We gorged on decent General Tso's, fried rice, lo mein, and those little sugar donuts, and we had some sushi, which wasn't half bad. Prices were decent at $7.99 for lunch and $10.99 for dinner, and we had a coupon from a recent mailer. It wasn't the best lunch ever, but we were hungry when we walked in, and we left really full. This place is straight up hood like most Chinese buffets. It's in a corner of a strip mall, and its decor is ... corner of a strip mall. Instead of purchasing real art and decorations, the owners just decided to put up pictures of sushi and hibachi items with their brand logos on the wall. What a classy touch, guys. The food here isn't terrible. It has your standard buffet items and several items involving bad fake bacon. The only item that stood out to me was these little pineapple meatballs. This place is definitely one of those quantity over quality places. If you want to expand your waistline by eating greasy fake Chinese food, I would suggest going down the street to Pacific Grill and Buffet. The pricing is exactly the same as this place, but the selection is much better at that other place. Trust me on this: I'm Asian, and we as a people are buffet experts. Lukewarm..... that is the theme of the food and drinks. If it is to be cold, it was lukewarm. If it was to be hot, it was lukewarm. The cold soft drinks were lukewarm. The dining staff said they were going to relay the concern on the food (including the teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried dumplings and select sushi) being in the danger zone for food borne pathogens but I am hesitant that this was taken seriously and/or relayed to the kitchen. The prices were raised because it was Father's Day without any additional goodies. The plus was the dining room staff was attentive on bussing tables and refills.
