I bought a used tundra in December and it had been hands down, the most frustrating, worst buying experience of my life! I went there to look at a different Tundra but the truck was being test driven by another customer. So the salesman walked me around the lot, showed me a few tricks I wasn't interested in. I had to look online at there inventory to find one in my budget because he had no idea what they had. Finally we found an overpriced tundra which I pointed out was overpriced. He said he'd throw in Tires, tints and Bedliner to "sweeten the deal." I also said I wanted to take the paperwork into my credit union to finance with them and he said it wouldn't be a problem. So he sent me to there finance guy down the hall. I again told the finance guy several times I wanted to finance with my credit union and he said "oh yeah we work with your credit union, but I'll get you a lower rate with another one." He did not explain any of the paperwork, rushed me through it, To the point I had no idea what I was signing. He even said one paper said "this basically says we're not promising to buy you lunch." He also, without asking added another $875 for gap insurance and added $4000 for "accessories" (the wheels, tints and Bedliner). It's my own fault because I should've taken the time to go over all the fine print. I've always bought from a private seller so I don't know all the shady tricks dealerships. We had talked about doing a 60 month loan and I didn't want my payment to be more than $400 a month so when he said it was going to be just over $400 a month it didn't said any red flags that he was adding all these costs. Laterholr going through he paperwork I noticed he changed the loan to an 84 month loan!!!! Not to mention my interest rate was at 4.9% not the 3.25% he promised and not even the 3.5% my credit union would have given me. I had to threaten to file a complaint to the motor vehicle enforcement division to get them to take the accessories and the gap insurance off. They said hey would but it's been a month now and the finance guy still won't call me back or give me the time of day to redo the contract and take off the $4875. I've Gone in at least 5 times and called even more times to try and get it figured out but I always just get the run around. On top of all this the detail shop took the mats out of the truck and my sales rep promised me he'd get them back but then he said "the truck didn't come with any." And also told me he'd get another key, but that's a long shot. My salesman since then has quit. Probably couldn't handle lying to people. STAY AWAY from Brent brown toyota!!!! I've told everyone I know to stay away. Save yourself the hassle of high pressure sales, and shady tactics and go somewhere else!! Where to begin, this has been an extremely long and horrible process from dealing with extra charges to lawyers and brent brown refusing to ever respond or making false promises they never keep. In January of 2024 I went in to brent brown toyota to buy a new rav 4 as my wife had just had a baby and I wanted them in a new car. Our salesman was great and we picked out one that we liked. This is where the nightmare began. We were originally planning on trading in our old car and putting 5k down in cash. The finance officer messed up the paperwork and had us putting 7500 down, then increased that to 10k down plus our trade in. Seeing that we had the extra funds. I didnt mind but they ended up doubling the cash we put down. We filled out a loan for the rest and went on our way. They promised to send us documents because they couldnt give them to us that day. Over the next month I reached out via phone 7 different times, Sent 5 follow up emails and even went into the dealership twice to get the loan documents. Each time I was told they sent them or were sending them right away or would the next day. When the documents never came I knew something was up. Finally our loan showed up on the account. We had agreed to buy the car for roughly 36k and we traded in our old car for a value of 3500 and put 10k down in cash. So all in all we put 13,500 down on a 36k car but the loan showed up on our bank account for the full 36k. I began calling again and again and showing up to the dealership to get this taken care of but was always turned away or told the finance department wasnt there the days I went in. I got so fed up I turned to a lawyer who sent a demand letter. Suddenly the dealership was my best friend and promised to get to the bottom of it. They agreed with my lawyer to refund 5k to our account, not the full 13,500 that had somehow disapeared in different warranties and fees but at least it was something and I decided to accept it. The funds were supposed to be returned to the loan in the month of March with a deadline by the end of March. Here we are in April, 3 months after the fact and the dealership claims they have no record of ever agreeing to this with us. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had in buying a car. We were purchasing a 2024 4Runner. We were going to do a wire transfer for the down payment but the banks were closing so we decided to give them a check. We wrote the check for $26,000. The following day the wire transfer got sent anyway for $26,000. Once we realized what had happened we immediately got on the phone to try and fix the situation, this was the same day the transfer got made. We called the front desk, the receptionist asked our name, we gave it and said we needed to talk to Andy in finance, we got sent to voicemail. I left a message and waited about 30 minutes and didn't hear back. I then called back and asked for Jordan, my salesman. He forwarded my call to voicemail. Called back again asking for Andy and supposedly he was out. We expressed what happened to the receptionist, she said she would personally have Andy call me. We didn't hear back that day. We were finally able to get ahold of Andy the next day after multiple calls and demands that we speak to him now. He was very evasive when speaking to me and said he knew nothing about the situation. At this time he also let me know that he switched my loan from AFCU to Toyota finance. We had already signed all the paperwork and agreements for the loan to go to AFCU. This felt very shady. They still have yet to tell me about the interest rates and why they switched this without my permission. Andy ended the conversation stating he would work on seeing what he could do about the $26,000 the dealership now owed us. We didn't hear back for some time. This became frustrating so we again called the dealership, by this point the receptionist knew who I was by my voice. She continued to get frustrated with me calling and hung up on me 3 separate times. I had a friend call back for me, she said we needed a response back on the issue within 15 minutes or we were sending our attorney and the authorities over there. At this point it was clear they didn't want to help with this issue and were trying to scam us. I received an email from Andy. He said he would cut a check and who could he make it out to. We told him who to make it out to. There was a clear understanding the check would be ready to pick up from the dealership at 5:00pm. I sent my dad to pick up the check because it was clear they didn't want to assist me. When he went to pick up the check, the receptionist, Jordan, and Andy, said they knew nothing about a check needing to be picked up.... My dad left and he called a woman from the main Toyota office, I wish we could get her name... She was the most compassionate person and very understanding of this situation. She couldn't believe what happened and she fixed the situation almost immediately. It was due to her kindness that we were able to get our $26,000 back the following Monday. I will NEVER do business with Brent Brown Toyota again. Our entire family drives Toyota vehicles. They too will never be doing business with Brent Brown Toyota. They are the most unprofessional people we have ever worked with. The receptionist was more than childish. We also discovered that two weeks following the sale of the 4Runner and all the paperwork being completed and signed that they were STILL running my credit. This made a massive impact to my score, this is also something they claim no responsibility for. We STILL have no answer as to why we have a loan through Toyota Finance and not AFCU (where we already had an account for our previous car loan). We still haven't been able to verify the interest rate on this loan through Toyota Finance but if I had to guess, solely on the way Andy does business, it is higher than the interest rate we signed for from AFCU. I also waited until after I received my plates and registration to write this review afraid they would withhold those things from me too. When I went to pick up my plates, I was helped by Andrew in Service. He was awesome and extremely friendly. Other than all this BS we had to deal with, we love our 4Runner and it's an awesome car. We had a newbie attending to us and he was very friendly and well-meaning, however most of vehicles were locked some of the vehicles the batteries and worn down and went to open the back tailgate. Not a very good showcase of their products. Overall we were not impressed with accessibility to information or to the vehicles we needed to take a look at. When we went inside it also seemed very chaotic and disorganized people running around and not really interacting with us, kind of strange. read more

Called ahead and made an appointment for an oil change for my Tundra. Arrived on time and after over 2 hours of waiting, someone came in and told me the truck was too heavy (I had tools in the truck bed). Why they couldn't have told me that 2 hours ago, I don't know. Why they even had me make an appointment, I also don't know because I obviously wasn't looked at right away. This experience was a total waste of time and to top it off, this dealership doesn't even offer free snacks while you wait. My wife and I went to look at vehicles last week and had a horrible experience at Brent Brown. The first sales associate left us at his cubicle for 15 minutes without saying he was leaving to go work with another customer. So we go find another sales associate. We were looking at getting a new Tacoma (and knew about the inventory shortage and wait times already). He told us expect to pay way over MSRP if you want to get a new Tacoma. He said Toyota.com prices that you spec out are worthless and aren't even close to what you'd pay and he wishes they wouldn't show those prices. He said you'd need to pay $3000 non refundable deposit down and expect to pay $6000-$8000 (shortage fee) over retail. I asked to get a quote sheet and he passed me off to another sales manager with an office that repeated the same thing. Said he could probably get us $4000 over MSRP if we put our $3000 non refundable today. Wouldn't get a quote sheet for us and said "it just depends on what we get and can't guarantee color, and all other wanted specs. He said it was like this everywhere. We left and went to Mark Miller Toyota and it was a whole different experience. First off, Mark Miller was honest. They said "we only take pre-orders on new cars and don't have any in stock." The exact quote that you see from Toyota.com is exactly what you pay. No "shortage" fee, etc. They gave me a quote sheet with everything including sales tax, registration and dealer doc with the exact specs I wanted and it came $6-8k under Brent Brown. They only require a refundable $500 deposit to place the order and when it comes in, if it's not what you want, they refund you because they can sell the vehicle that day. I can't believe the dishonesty at Brent Brown. Seriously, we interacted with 3 different people and each of them were worse than the last. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 45 minutes to downtown if you want to deal with honest people that don't undermine their own manufacture and bold face lie to your face to make extra money. read more

Brent Brown embodies the cliche of the slimy dealership. Employees gave me false information, lied to my face, and provided terrible customer service. The finance manager was very belligerent. I urge folks to avoid Brent Brown. I visited Brent Brown on August 30. Things started off fine. The salesman greeted us, listened, and provided the best test drive of any dealership we had visited. Then things went south. He pushed dealership financing despite my telling him several times I had already arranged financing with my bank and didn't want another hard credit inquiry. He tried to pressure me to sign a privacy form that he said would be for my protection when in fact it authorized him to run my credit. He repeatedly lied that the form didn't run credit until I pointed out the exact line of text that contradicted him. He didn't apologize for lying. I asked to see inspection documents, and he made the excuse that the accounting manager was busy. I insisted. He came back 20 minutes later and claimed he made a mistake, that the vehicle had not in fact been certified or inspected but that he would take care of it. 90 minutes later, we find out the vehicle needs an alignment and 4 new tires but that the work would not be complete until Monday. A bit shady, frankly. Despite all the issues up to then, finance was by far the worst. The finance manager was belligerent and impatient. When I declined financing for the 10th time and declined the gap insurance, he made some snide comment and got even more impatient. Given what happened, I wanted some assurances. I wrote on the margins of the contract the following clause: "Dealer agrees that it has disclosed all information it has regarding vehicle's condition, history, etc." He lost it and claimed he couldn't agree to the clause because he wouldn't take responsibility for sales and that no modifications could be made because it was a "state" form. A total crock. He reprinted the contract and wanted me to sign that one. When I pressed the issue, he summoned the sales guy to verbally agree, but I wanted the promise in writing. So the salesman took the discarded contract (not the official one) and returned with a scribbled line on it, supposedly the signature from his boss. No title, no legibility, and no connection to the contract. Worthless. When I got the reprinted contract, I wrote on the margins to reference the clause on the other paper. The finance guy went berserk, slammed his pen on the desk, his face got red, and he paced back and forth. He yelled that no changes could be made and that the bank would reject my application. I calmly asked to speak with a supervisor twice but he ignored me. He shot back that I thought I knew his job more than he did. My mom was super uncomfortable and pressured me to sign just to get out of there. I'm very disappointed in myself for relenting but we were exhausted and it was a very adversarial situation. The real kicker is that Brent Brown's own damn contract template exposes his lies. There was an open-ended box in the lower right-hand corner that I overlooked called "other terms agreed to:" If he had such a problem with me writing on the margins, he should have directed me to that section. Instead, he flatly lied that no changes could be made. By the way, my loan officer said she would have had no issue with the clause. What she did find strange, though, was the $200 "filing" fee they charged me on top of the $300 "documentary" fee. She had never seen the filing fee before, and she recently purchased a car herself. So not only does Brent Brown lie, it rips people off too. Got the runaround when I tried to complain to the general manager. I was finally able to speak with Karyn, the customer relations manager, and she got my clause added to the contract like it should have been to begin with. They didn't get my car done until the very end of the day on the Tuesday, and my plates arrived a month late. Terrible experience all the way through. Avoid some grief and skip Brent Brown. read more

Recently moved to Utah and needed an oil change for my toyota Sienna. Made an appointment here. Big mistake! Experienced the worst customer service that I've ever experienced with a car appointment. They kept my vehicle ALL day, never called me and never answered my text or phone calls when I tried reaching them. Finally an hour before closing they called with a list of "apparently: needed repairs...$5000 worth. I told them that I needed my car back tomorrow. The vehicle runs great! Just wanted an oil change. Although one of those needed repairs was a rear brake light out. You would think they would tell me that in time to replace it, since that is an urgent needed repair, but that saved me $80 which is what they wanted to replace a light bulb. I've have sense found several better vehicle repair places. read more

Stealership! I'm my own Mechanic, however I was driving from Los Angeles to Jackson Hole Wyoming and noticed my transmission was slipping on my Tundra with only 86k miles. Since I was traveling without my own tools I was forced to go to the Stealership. I made an appointment for 9am. Was there at 8:30am, I told Jose my service advisor I'm on my way to Wyoming get married so please keep me updated on the diagnosis of my truck since I had to pick up my fiancé at the SLC airport. He said I can text him anytime. At 10am still no word, I asked Jose when I saw him at the parts counter and she said he'd "check on his vehicles" and let me know. No word back. At 1:30pm still no word. I'm stuck at the Stealership with my dog. At least dogs are allowed in the waiting area. By 2:30 I go to ask for my keys since I didn't want to wait any longer. Jose said it was just finished. No communication at all. Then they tell me it's a 2% fee for using a credit card. Since when does one of Utah's largest dealerships charge for using a credit card? Isn't that the cost of doing business? This all reinforces my decision never to go to a Stealership unless you have a factory recall or TSB. Go to a mom and mom shop that specializes in your make of vehicle. Plus they won't charge you extra for not paying cash. It's not that I can't afford the 2% but this just shows how evil these places are. read more

I made an appt here to program a backup key for my car. When I made the appt, I gave them the model and year of my vehicle and told them I already had a spare key that just needed to be programmed to match the current one. They told me it would be $60 and set up the time to come in. When I came in, the tech told me that he wasn't sure if he would be able to program the key, and that it would be at least $150. After talking to a couple other employees at the office, he said that he could TRY to program it for $115, but it wouldn't be guaranteed to work, and I would pay either way. Alternatively, I could buy a new key from them and have them program it for ~$400. I'm very disappointed in the inconsistency in communication with these employees, and have now wasted the three hours I set aside for this appt, all still without a programmed key. read more

We bought two cars from these guys and I was on the tires for life program they basically screwed over those that were on the tires for life program and made it expensive to stay on. They completely change their policy. In addition every service I've had I've had issues with the car afterwards this final trip was the straw that broke the camels back. Salesman Dustin said theses scratches didn't exist when I bought it online. When the car arrived it was scratched up. His manager at Brent Brown won't claim responsibility or help me after I spent 65k getting this car to my state. Manager of Brent Brown said it was a showroom car that was flawless, but I have images sent to me from Dustan (sales person) of chips and two scratches that they painted (before/after). I was ok with those, but not all this! Meaning it wasn't flawless because it was a showroom model. Manager is liar, and I have photo evidence of this. Oh, and the gas tank arrived below empty after spending 65k. Go elsewhere! These people are all liars and won't do anything to help. I'll be filing a claim with the Federal Bureau of investigation's's, Federal Trade Commission, and the Attorney General's office. Shameful practices like these should not be allowed to continue. Even tho we did not end up getting a newer car, I had to write a review. Brian Z (sales person) was AWESOME! He was so patient and understanding. He took the time to show us different cars even tho he knew we would probably stay with our current car. I would highly recommend asking for him on your next car purchase. His associate (I am sorry to say I can't remember his name) was also very helpful in answering our questions, explaining our credit and possible choices in the future. I went to Orem today (10/31/22) to purchase a car from Brent Brown Toyota. I had been there about 45 minutes, was finalising the paper work when I was told that they sold the car to someone that just walked in. All I had to do was deliver the papers the the bank, was already pre-approved and they sold the car right out from under me. I have never seen this kind of shady business before. The sales team were awful and super pushy to the point that it made me uncomfortabe. They were hard pressuring a sale for something I wasnt even sure I wanted. The sales rep left at one point and sent his manager over who said "is there something you're not telling us" to which I responded im not sure and need some time to think (Which I had said like four times to the rep already). Then the texted me twice following hounding me about to which i said the first time that I had decided to go elsewhere. Then they texted me again to ask and I said the same thing. I DO NOT recommend getting serviced here. Travel somewhere else to get your car serviced! I needed my car to be looked at because I had gotten a message in my car. I tried to call on multiple occasions, ended up going to the website and had to talk to a bot and scheduled an appointment through that. I got many different confirmations such as emails and texts. When I arrived they were rude from first interaction. When they couldn't find my appointment they totally ignored me and didn't even try to communicate if they would be taking me or not. I sat in my car for probably 10 minutes before anyone talked to me. Never once did they ask what I came in for. They proceeded to take my car for 2 hours!! And when I tried to explain that I have Toyota care the assistant manager joel did not even give me the time of day and said "we can not find you in the system." I have been serviced with Toyota for a year! I had spoken with the dealership I purchased the car at and they said I was in the system if they looked up my vin (and I had the agreement # for them as a second option). He did not care all he wanted was my money. Never once did even try to help me with the situation. I had to call Findlay Toyota in Flagstaff,AZ and they helped me right away. read more

They won't call us back and are making us call corporate. Now they are telling us they are going to tow our car off the lot? This service department hasn't reached out to us once and now they are threatening us based on no claim. It's worth the extra drive to Draper to fix your car and/or buy a new one. TERRIBLE customer service. Had to request a call back call FIVE times. Had my car in for a recall repair. Also told them about another issue I was having with my 2018 Avalon, which I purchased NEW from them in Dec 2018. I was informed a part would have to be ordered. Upon paying with my credit car for the part I was informed there would be a percentage added to that $1,400.00 purchase PLUS an additional $300 to install the part. I didn't have a checkbook with me, nor that amount of cash with me. I was STUCK and had to pay the percentage. I cancelled that order within two hours, however they ran the full amount on my card, which showed up as "pending" for a couple of days on my statement. They did not cancel the transaction and I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. Finally they returned all but about $135. I received NO merchandise or service, but they kept my $ with No explanation. DON'T deal with these crooks. TERRIBLE customer service. I will never buy another car from them nor go back there for any service. read more

I bought a car here about a year ago and it was my 2nd worst car-buying experience: The salesman was clueless. He lied over and over. When I got to the finance manager to complete paperwork, they tried to charge me for things that came pre-installed on the car (the digitally signed windows that help police find your car if stolen). That's why I'm insured. Moreover, I own another Toyota and had it serviced there once. There were 2 problems when I delivered my car;there was a recall that was not repaired properly and they refused to try again unless I paid for it. It was a recall part and your repair didn't fix it. The other problem had to do with the fact that my warranty was up in like 100 miles but they said they couldn't find a problem. Then, mysteriously, right after the warranty expired they found the problem and wanted to charge me full price. Horrible service. I love my Toyota but Brent Brown will never get my business again. read more

I bought my Toyota from a Ford Dealership. It had an issue that only a Toyota service place can fix. Their process in setting appointments and having their staff take cars to where they service them, it was extraordinary. One of their service people named Zeke Rojas was excellent in his position. Processed my car, took the I information and assured me that he'd call before the close of day with the diagnostic results of my vehicle. He did all that with a good attitude and a smile. We leased a new Sienna. We needed to get a tow package on and it was a brutal experience. It took them forever. They were apologizing along the way but they couldn't change the fact that we had to return several times just to get it to happen. Even when they finally got the wiring on they did nothing to indicate how to protect it so it was worthless, as the wires kept popping out and are now destroyed. Every time we've gone in for a mandatory check up and oil it has been just a horrible wait. Finally, under 20k miles in we discovered the tires need replacing. I am not a fan at all of Brent Brown Toyota. I wish we could go back and lease from a different dealership. read more

I was told they would call me that morning as I needed the car for school later that afternoon. They didn't call until that evening and wanted over $1,100 to fix the air conditioning. When I decided that the estimate was too much, I told them I would just take the car. Even after admitting they did no actual work, they still wanted to charge me $100 for their time. I just want to be treated like a customer that matters. No special treatment or favors. I just want honest reliable service. I waited two hours for service only to find my car was parked right in front of them but was admittedly forgotten. Probably had about thirty cars pulled ahead of mine for service. Even his paperwork showed he expected it would have only taken about 35 minutes. If I wasn't forgotten. No apologies or concessions. Really nice guy. Had him help me with other cars in the past. Always a smile. Which is why I am more surprised. A simple, "hey man, I blew it. Sorry for keeping you waiting," would have gone far. Please no public post giving me a phone number that makes it seem that you care with no real care for the customer. No response is better than a feigned attempt to appear sincere. read more

Brent Brown Toyota gave me a quote for a one year old car that was INCREDIBLY more expensive then Karl Malone Toyota was for the newer year model! After leaving a bad review on Facebook they called me and said they would like to talk about how they could make it right. I said I would be open to that and they were looking into what they could do. I called back a few times to get an update and they never returned my call. They will try to take advantage of you if they think you are uninformed. They don't have your best interests in mind. I wish I would have purchased my vehicle at Karl Malone Toyota instead. I bought a van from them a couple of months ago. We bought it at night and didn't notice that there was no radio antenna on it. A couple days later we contacted them (when they sold it to us they said it was a certified preowned) and they said they would fix it they just needed to get the right part and they would call us. Since then I have called them at least 5 times and emailed them once and in that same time they have called me back zero times. So I went into the dealership today, only to find out that they are no longer going to keep their word, but want to charge me a ridiculous amount to install an antenna on a van that they sold me two months ago. read more

I'm a long time customer here at Brent Brown. I know the sales manager Kelly really well as well as some of the sales people. Those guys are all great. This review go towards the service department: Recently I brought in my leased car for its 25k mile service. I was going in for a $20 tire rotation and multi point inspection. (What they quoted on the phone) They talked me into both air filter replacements; I'm a huge car guy, I know there is a slight mark up in that service. I can easily do that work myself, but I said what the heck, and let them do it. I mean it couldn't cost that much to open a couple of boxes and replace the filters right? Wrong! $120 later, I felt like I had been kicked in the gut and had my lunch money stolen. What a rip off! I understand the tech has got to make money for his work but $80 for 30 minutes of work? (Taking out cost of parts) Kinda gives me some hard feelings towards you guys. The service writer did give me some sort of discount which brought it down to $90 but still!!
