My primary care doctor referred me to a urologist for a routine examination that involved inserting a camera into my penis. They start with local anesthetic... a needle into the hole. We got the job done, which is great. I must be a real baby when it comes to pain because the procedure hurt terribly bad. I have extensive dental work, including root canals and a couple tooth implants. By comparison, those are a painless joy. The doctor did his best to calm me down by telling me not to curse, explaining it doesn't hurt, and telling me that even children tolerate it better than me. I think I found out why it hurt so much. I was unaware the camera-device pumped water into my bladder until AFTER the procedure. Right away, I had the urge to pee when the device was inserted. I did not want to pee on the doctor so I "held it tight". I feel strongly that if I had just "let it go" and not clinched my pee-holding muscles... I would not have suffered as much. read more

I felt that in my experience with Oregon Urology Group that my urologist made decisions without having done an adequate history which caused questionable treatment decisions. My evental surgery was not without post op complications requiring multiple trips and co payments. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Connie Demarco's at the Oregon urology for over 15 years. I have had excellent above and beyond care from Dr. Connie Demarco until today when I had a tele visitation with Laurel Stiedemann. I asked her to speak with the doctor or the doctors head nurse. She refused to do that she spoke to me like I was in the third grade constantly asked me if I understood. I did understand it was her way or the highway she has no business working for an excellent doctor like Dr. Connie Demarco it was disgusting to deal with that woman. She is totally not fit and has no compassion for peoples issues. read more

Unlike many patients that go to a urology clinic, I was one that went because I am desperately trying to get to the bottom of why I have to be on something indefinitely so I don't have accidents. In the end, they were not able to help me with my problem because they determined that it wasn't connected to my bladder, but they were able to figure out that it wasn't related to the nerves. September 2021 There are some good doctors working here. Following issues are more a matter of office management during a pandemic. Those of us in Lane County are currently in our third spike Of COVID-19 because of the Delta variant. There are only five ICU beds left in Lane County. I am an older high-risk individual. During a telemed appointment I was assured that I could come into the urology institute's office for routine nonessential tests and the clinic would be following strict Covid protocols. I was told each patient was given a beeper which was delivered to the car upon the arrival of The patient. Each patient would wait in their car until summoned to the office by the beeper. This process was also promised in a notice taped to the front door. That is why I was surprised by how many people were in the waiting room. Most of the patients seemed to be doing a pretty good job of maintaining 6 feet of distance between each other and there was plenty of hand sanitizer everywhere. Unfortunately there were a couple of very noticeable exceptions to the mask rule spewing their exhaust into our common breathing space. In addition some other important Covid catching precautions which had been promised In writing on the front door of the clinic were not followed. No one's temperature was taken prior to entering the waiting area. In fact my temperature was never taken. The use of a LCD tablet which was passed from patient to patient. A fish restaurant on Coburg has been implementing a safer check in methods using disposable pens and paper. Both on the phone when the appointment was made and on the front door of the clinic it is stated that upon arrival the patient will be given a beeper/buzzer which you take to your car so you may wait in your car without fear of infecting or infection. The option was never offered. Remember this is during the third and biggest rise in new Covid19 Cases in Lane County since the pandemic began. There are only five unoccupied ICU beds @ Riverbend and McKenzie Willamette combined as I write this. read more

Years of not being able to find any other urologists in this area. Years of calling for an appointment and being put on wait only to be disconnected automatically. Years ago, when I hadn't seen a doctor there in many years I called for an appointment with my doctor. I was scheduled for one. I showed up for the appointment and was sent by the front desk DIRECTLY TO SURGERY WITHOUT FIRST SEEING A DOCTOR. Needless to say, I protested and refused, demanding to see the doctor about the complaint first. I was NOT in pain and it was not an emergency. The front desk said that the PA had made the surgery appointment! I had to be rescheduled for another day to see my doctor. A day before the beginning of Covid restrictions on 6' and masks, the reception area was packed chair touching chair with nobody wearing a mask. I could go on and on and on, having many years of experience there. BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING TO HAPPEN! CHAOS REIGNS. My doctor is very good, kind, listens well, diagnosis well, and prescribes well. Getting an appointment with him is sheer HELL. There aren't any other urologists in Springfield-Eugene area who are not affiliated with OUI that I can find. There is one listed at Springfield, but he has left the area. Prepare for anything! read more

I saw Dr. Dawn Bodell for a prolapsed bladder on the recommendation of my trusted gynecologist of many years. During my first appointment I was appalled and alarmed by her behavior and demeanor. Dr. Bodell was highly unprofessional. I had the first appointment of the day and she was 15 minutes late. This behavior tells me that she thinks her time is more valuable than mine. I could not believe it when Dr. Bodell answered a personal phone call during our appointment! She seemed to be in a hurry during our appointment and I felt rushed. Dr. Bodell had the worst people skills I've ever encountered in a medical professional. Dr. Dawn Bodell spoke so fast it was difficult to follow and understand her. She made almost no eye contact while talking to me, and used medical terms no patient could have understood unless they'd been to medical school. I was constantly asking her to explain what she was talking about. I had a 7:30 AM appointment. When Dr. Bodell examined me she wasn't able to see what was going on because it was "early in the morning and the prolapse isn't normally visible until the patient has been moving around for 2-3 hours." Why was I there if not to be examined by the doctor and for her to see exactly what was going on with me? Did she really not understand that I was afraid and nervous? Why wasn't I informed of that very important information when I made the appointment? Do the office staff know what they're doing? Is there any communication from Dr. Bodell with the office staff about the nature of each appointment? Obviously not. What a waste of my time and money. Unfortunately, I ignored these warning signs and my intuition and I allowed Dr. Dawn Bodell to perform my surgery. I cannot express strongly enough how much I regret that decision. After my surgery Dr. Dawn Bodell could not be bothered to see me in the hospital at all. I was there for two days after my surgery. Dr. Bodell sent her assistant (very inappropriate) the first day. Dr. Dawn Bodell could not be inconvenienced to do her job and show up to see me on the second day of my hospital stay either. Neither one of them came to the hospital that day. Since when does a surgeon not follow up with their patient everyday they're in the hospital?! Dr. Dawn Bodell had her hands in my body! Never is a person more vulnerable than during surgery. I deserved and expected this common courtesy and obvious, important hospital routine to be honored. Dr. Dawn Bodell failed miserably. I have never heard of any surgeon behaving this way and I've asked several medical professionals, along with friends and family who have had surgery. Furthermore, I had to ask the nurses on the third day to call Dr. Bodell for her permission to be released at noon, which I believe is the standard hospital time to leave. It took hours past noon for Dr. Dawn Bodell to respond and release me by phone to go home while my elderly mother waited with me. This was unacceptable behavior and I wish I had checked myself out. Obviously Dr. Bodell's inflated sense of her own importance, the disregard for anyone else's time, and her enormous ego are far more valuable to her than the care of her patients, common courtesy, and honoring the commitments she's agreed to in order to effectively and professionally do her job. On a follow up visit I left work early to accommodate Dr. Dawn Bodell's schedule. Dr. Bodell kept me waiting for over an hour. I finally left, making it clear I was unhappy and angry with her blatant lack of respect for me and my time. Of course there was no apology forthcoming from Dr. Bodell at any time, then or after. This is another example of her inflated, misguided sense of superiority. Dr. Dawn Bodell is a selfish, arrogant, disrespectful, and self-centered woman with a horrible attitude and terrible time management skills. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in my life. I expect excellent care from my surgeon. Dr. Bodell certainly charged me many thousands of dollars for her incredibly lame care of me. I've had amazing care and follow up from all of my primary care doctors and my surgeons. No doctor of mine, other than Dr. Dawn Bodell, has treated me like they were better than me because they held a medical degree. I have to assume this is how Dr. Bodell conducts herself on a daily basis. I can't be the only patient who has been treated in this heinous manner by her. I would never recommend Dr. Dawn Bodell to anyone for anything. Dr. Dawn Bodell should be ashamed and embarrassed, any worthy, humble, and decent human would be. I will absolutely be reporting Dr. Dawn Bodell to the state medical board. I hope she gets slapped hard, and is handed a hefty fine. I'd love to see her stripped of her license to practice medicine. Prior to my appointment on October27, 2020, I read previous reviews which were mostly negative. When I went into the clinic, my temperature was taken by a polite smiling young lady. The clerks at the information desk were very helpful as this was my first appointment. They guided me through my paperwork. Dr. David DeMarco's assistant was very thorough in her explanation of my procedure. The Physician Assistant was cheerful and gave me explanations as to my meeting with Dr. DeMarco. Dr. Demarco was on time and very cheerful. He explained what he would do during the examination. I was very pleased with my overall experience and will be back for another procedure. I've been a patient of Dr. McKimmey for many years. He is worth waiting for - and there is frequently a long wait... BUT, I am so tired of "holding" on the phone while just trying to talk with someone in that office!! In the last 2 days, I have been on hold for each of 3 phone calls. 21 minutes, 24 minutes and 27 minutes!! I would expect that office is making enough money to hire enough people to just stinking answer the dang phone within 5 minutes!!! I've held off on this review in hopes that with continued follow up care the situation with this clinic would improve. Unfortunately it has gone from bad to deplorable! I've never encountered a more poorly run operation with their main focus being one of "how are you going to pay". Having good insurance this has never been a problem but remains their number 1 priority. I've now waited for more than a month since my last appointment only to have them call today to finally schedule my appointment. But NO, this place really does have terrible staff, and they really do have a very bad attitude towards patients. Had to wait over an hour and a half past my appointment time to see a doctor and the visit lasted less than 15 minutes. For this privilege I was charged over $250 dollars. Need I say more? They say new patients are also charged more on their initial visit, great way to reward new customers. I would suggest visiting any other medical practice that would take care of your issues though I could see this being tough since these people have bought up any competition in this specialty in the local area. read more
