My son has received DME through Nu Motion for 15+ years. We started using them when Wheelchair…read moreWorks transitioned to Nu Motion. We loved the service and expertise that the technician, Rick Kruse and Jason Bolger provided. We were able to get many of our equipment needs for my son addressed by Nu Motion. They were on top of repairs and service, and I went as far as referring additional customers to them that I worked with professionally during my years as a case manager. Everything changed roughly 5 years ago when Nu Motion outsourced all their customer service to an out of state call center. It took almost a year to get my son's new wheelchair because their representatives failed to follow up on the insurance documentation that was requested many times. Repairs have taken 4-6 months also because of the lack of follow-through on Nu Motion's part with the insurance to get the documentation needed. Recently, Kaiser Permanente has decided to no longer contract with Nu Motion. However, I pay extra premiums and have Kaiser Added Choice which enables us to go outside of Kaiser including out of network providers and vendors. I have explained this to Nu Motion and all they hear is Kaiser Permanente and will not listen to the process and what Kaiser Added Choice is and how it works. I am not able to talk to anyone in Oregon, the calls are routed back east so you are speaking to a representative that has a script and knows nothing about the process. Any questions they are not able to answer during the call, they state they will have someone call you back. I have called them 7 times in the last 3 weeks and have yet to receive a call back from someone that is willing to assist us. My son has both private insurance and Oregon Health Plan. I choose to pay for private insurance hoping that it will provide my son with more and better options. This has not helped when it comes to Nu Motion. My son is medically fragile and currently we are unable to tilt his wheelchair and both brakes on his chair are not functioning. He has a significant aspiration and choking risk and without the tilt mechanism working this risk increases. It is a shame when a company gets so big and expands that it becomes so far removed from the individuals it states to serve and loses touch with them. Now that they are a larger company, it appears that you are only getting lies and deception. The trust is gone. We, the customers that serve.

So, taxpayer, if a Medicare user can't afford $650 for batteries, you get to fund a new $35,000 electric wheelchair for the customer who already bought one from a family whose loved one had died, just to get batteries that work. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN! Wouldn't you rather be funding health care or housing for the houseless elderly, instead of these corrupt durable medical equipment companies? They claim this is for liability reasons but they always check to see that the wheelchair is in working order when they replace batteries in chair they have sold. They know how to verify that a wheelchair is safe.
