It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. TL;DR/The Short Version: One of the very few Asian…read morerestaurants in Perth, ON. We got takeout. The Pad Ki Mow was tasty. No table service. The Long Version: My husband and I got takeout from The Hot Wok for dinner when we were staying in Perth. All their food is packaged as takeout, but they do have seating where you can eat your takeout food, just no table service. We decided to take the food back to our hotel room instead. We got the Bang Bang Chicken ($18.25) and the Shrimp Pad Ki Mow ($19.50). I called my order in and we walked there to pick it up. I was told it would take about 30 minutes to be ready. (They make everything to order.) We arrived after 30 minutes and our food was ready as promised. The lady on the phone was very courteous and I think she was the same lady at the pickup counter. The Bang Bang Chicken was listed on the menu as "Lightly breaded chicken tossed in a creamy honey sauce, on a bed of greens." It did not mention sesame seeds were sprinkled on top and I forgot to say "no sesame seeds" with my order so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't really eat this dish, but that was on me. I was able to manage a few bites that didn't have sesame seeds on them (I can handle mild contamination) and I found the meat a bit dry, but the outside was pleasantly crispy and the honey sauce was pleasant. The "bed of greens" was actually raw shredded cabbage and carrots in a creamy sauce. I was asked how spicy I wanted this dish and I said medium, but it wasn't spicy at all, like not even mildly spicy, lol. Don't worry, the food didn't go to waste, as my husband ate it. The dish came with a small serving of steamed white rice. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The Shrimp Pad Ki Mow was tasty, albeit a tad too oily for me. It had 6 large shrimp, which were all properly deveined. They were plump and juicy. The dish also had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and Bok Choy. I was happy to see they were very generous with the vegetables. You have the option of having this dish with rice noodles or rice, I chose the noodles since that's what traditional Pad Ki Mow is. However, the noodles used were rather thin, like even thinner than traditional Pad Thai noodles. I like the wider noodles that typically come with Pad Ki Mow (or as I usually know it as, Pad Kee Mao). I was also asked what spice level I wanted this dish and I also said medium, and for this dish, it was a true medium as it had a spicy kick to it. We ordered the vegetarian maki rolls which were quite fresh and tasty, and the vegetarian ramen which... honestly wasn't good. The broth was alright, pretty flavourful. The noodles seemed packaged. The real issue was the heaps of frozen vegetables on top - carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and corn. Definitely, obviously from a standard frozen bag. Watery and just out of place in a ramen. Additionally, I have to say the bathroom wasn't clean. There was pink mold around the taps and paper on the floor. I wish this family everything good, and I know they are working super hard running two restaurants, I hesitate to post anything negative but really hope the feedback can be useful and help them succeed bigger and better.

The waiter was serving the front cash with take away orders, answering phones and also waitering for the entire restaurant. They should have had a waiter for the front desk and another for the restaurant tables. Food came out pretty quickly though, just took a while to order it. The cleanliness of the tables were also a little gross if you're a germ-a-phobe. There was still some gunk on the placemats and a lot of tables around weren't cleaned up yet. If cleaned it seems like it was a very quick wipe down and reset of the tables between customers. The food however is where they get saved. The beef skewers were *chefs kiss*. Uber delicious. The red curry was spicy but creamy and delicious. The pad thai was only so-so. It was more the flavour of watery soya sauce with a side of fish sauce to dip the noodles into. The peanuts were really good and the waiter graciously asked and brought more peanuts for the dish. The chicken in the meal was very fresh tasting and cooked well.
