I also didn't like how spotty the white was - it was uneven and bumpy (difficult to see in pics). She told me that's normal. Um, no it's not! I've been getting dip regularly for a few years and ombré several times. The application was different from what I've gotten in the past, but I decided to give it a chance. She applied it as if I was getting the old school acrylic nails. A true ombré dip is not done this way. Upon trying to fix, she ground my nails thinner which left them more opaque. I understand that nail art is an art form and that things may not look exactly like a reference photo, but what I received was nowhere close to what I showed my technician. The design, shapes, lines, and overall execution were completely different. The pricing was another major issue. I was initially told $120, which then became $135, and my final charge ended up being $185. That is a $65 difference from the original price I was given. I was not expecting to spend $185, especially for a set that I was so unhappy with. I was also asked whether I wanted acrylic or gel and was told the difference was only $10, so I said gel was fine. During the application, I noticed the container being used appeared to be labeled "acrylic." When I questioned the technician about it, I was repeatedly told that gel was being used. I obviously cannot say with certainty what product was ultimately used, but seeing an acrylic label while being told it was gel left me very uncomfortable and confused. And here's the part that honestly bothers me the most: I'm just a mom who wanted to treat herself. I work extremely hard for my money, and I don't take spending $185 lightly. I'm also not someone who enjoys confrontation. When I saw the finished nails, I was uncomfortable and disappointed, but instead of making a scene, I told them they were cute, paid my bill, and left. I cried the entire way home. I didn't walk in expecting perfection. I simply expected to receive something reasonably close to what I showed them, to understand what I was paying for, and to leave feeling like my hard-earned money had been well spent. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I'm posting the inspiration photo alongside the finished set so that people can make their own judgment. $185 is a significant amount of money to me, and I genuinely regret spending it here. They have 8 chairs in the back of the business, all chairs are leather and have the massagers. Due to COVID19, they now have these see through plastic partitions up, so its like being in a box. The pedicure comes with hot water, a nice scrub on the feet to get rid of the sand paper feel to your bunions, hot rocks, a nice massage to your knees and of course they take care of your toes. She asked if I want it lighter around my face and asked if I'd like the color to my root in which I said yes to both and I would like a trim and layers around my face. She said she would get me a quote and walked away and came back and said $365. My hair is just past my shoulders and so I asked if that included a haircut. She said no. She said it's two colors so it's two bowls. $150 for the first and $85 for the second. I must have given her a strange look because she said let me go check with my manager. She walked away and came back and said she added wrong and gave me the quote of 265. I asked how much a hair cut would be and she said $85. I figured my birthday is coming up, let's do it and see if this will be my new salon I go to. She puts the color on and the foil is all around my face. I ask how long she had been working in the salon and she said one month. I ask her what just the root would cost figuring if I like her, once this grows out a little, I would come back in just to get the roots done. She said $85. A manager came over and said, You are getting some dark put in? I said, Yes making my dark darker and my light lighter, getting refreshed. She asked if I was getting a trim and I said yes just a trim. I was put under the heater and then taken back to get my hair washed. She then put a toner on and was massaging it into the top of my head for quite some time. She asked what color blond I wanted. I thought that was weird as I thought she was done with the color...was that the dark and she is taking me back to do the light I wondered. I said the same as the picture. She put the towel on my head and said I could go back to the chair. I held the towel on my head until I sat down and took it off. I was shocked to look in the mirror as the inch / inch and a half of white that grew in was still all the way around my face. She came back and asked what side do I part my hair. I looked at her shocked and asked, Are you done with my color? She said yes. I asked why nothing was done with my roots and she said that's a separate procedure that I didn't ask for. I said that's the main reason I came in here. She said, Want me to just blow it dry so I said ok and she blew it dry. Every salon I've ever been to does the highlights and low lights in foil and the touches up the roots and rest of the hair out of the foil with the base color. She questioned, Other than your roots how do you like it? I was baffled and couldn't even see anything other than the white left around my face so she said, I'll get my manager. I walk up to the desk and the manager and stylist come to the desk and don't say anything, they both just looked at me awkwardly. I said, Obviously there was a miscommunication. I asked who would come in and get their highlights and low lights done and get their white roots around their face not done. The manager said she just had someone come in today actually requesting that. I said to her if it was dark roots still, I could see that but not white around my face. I now still have to get my hair done, it doesn't look like my hair was done with all my white roots not even touched. The manager said, I can see that's not what you wanted. Well she could take you back and do your roots but we still would have to charge you $85. I was meeting friends for dinner and did not have the time. I had to go buy some powder root touch up after leaving a salon after almost paying $300 to get my hair done. How does that make sense? You would think the stylist doing my hair, seeing how bad the roots looked would clarify that I want nothing done with the roots. I was hopeful going in but still can't comprehend that a professional stylist would think anyone would want blond and dark brown highlights and low lights all done and keep the white growth so it doesn't look like your hair has been done.
