I went to Orchid a week ago and was not impressed with the appearance of the salon. I was about to leave when the manicurist assured me she was almost finished with her client. I decided to give them a chance. Bad mistake. While they were quick to finish my nails and were friendly, the gentleman who gave me my manicure made my thumbnail bleed. I told him to retain my natural nail length but he didn't listen. He filed my nails lower than I wanted as if he didn't care about my request. He was too rough and he cut my cuticles waaay too low. I developed hangnails over the next few days. The gel nails were nice at first but didn't last a full week. They started to peel and they weakened my nail beds. I decided to type this review as a warning because my nail beds are still sensitive and in pain. Please save your money and your nails. read more

I WILL NEVER EVER come back to Orchid nails or Cindy for that matter. Be careful ppl, they are becoming lazy, and get frustrated if you're not happy with their messy work, they are also rough on pedi's, they "accidentally" stabbed my toes with their own filthy nails till they bled on numerous ocassions. I used to be a loyal returning customer of Cindy's since she worked at Unique, I followed her here, but then she started losing her touch. I liked Anna and another young one there too but they are not as good as Cindy. And all the other ladies suck and do really messy jobs especially the ugly older lady (sorry) but Cindy insists on lettin her do mani's and pedi's when they're too busy. Personally I think they should just let her be a janitor there because she even sucks at removing nail polish. She left me with small bits of old nail polish on my toes and painted over them with clear nail polish like she had done a great job. The last couple of times I've came here Cindy has made me feel like she avoids doing my nails or something, maybe because I'm a bit picky for some designs, which I rarely do the "fancier and complicated" ones. I notice she'll all of a sudden take a break in the back just to have someone else help me or whatever. I mean not ALL time, but most of the time. I have complained to her, numerous amount of times, not to let the ugly lady do them (well I don't say it like that but I point to her) but she doesn't care of my requests and makes her help me anyway. My last straw was the last time I went, Cindy was busy up until the "designing" part of my mani and pedi, yet she refused to do my design because she was "done for the day". I was so pissed at the way they were treating me I demanded for them to remove the mani nail polish, which looked horrible, (my toes weren't even designed yet) They all seem to get lazy at doing the design part and expect you to pay for top quality service! They were still trying to make me pay $40 for just a fill and pedi, with no polish or design, I said "you guys are ripping me off"! A fill according to their sign is $12 and a pedi is like $17. So they gave be back $10 that's it. I would've paid only $20 for their shitty work and treatment. I had to go to another salon that was still open at 8p to get my mani and pedi fixed. THIS IS THE WORST NAIL SHOP I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! I want to start by saying i have been getting my nails done since I was 15 & I'm in my 30's. Me & my friend tried this nail shop Saturday 8/18/18 , when we first walked in they were not super friendly (which I didn't hold against them it was like 2pm )so I figured they had had a busy morning, they asked what we were having done & we said a full set , my friend was worked on first then about 5 mins later another nail tech shouted from across the room at me "full set" & pointed at the chair . Not once did she say hi , how are you ? No one did actually! So I sit down & she begins to put the nails on & she started cutting them then ask if that length was ok ?! , I said it was fine consideration I do work where I cannot have extremely long nails . She was at the stage where she was filling down the nail & she actually cut me with the tool I pulled my hand back I was bleeding ( my fried also was cut & they put super glue on her cut) & she said "it's ok I fix" ... she did not fix she just then continued the service & put gel polish over my cut I asked her why she did that is a open wound... no response.... so I am in the final stages & I told her she forgot to paint a few nails on the side which commonly happens, she did not paint over the whole nail she just painted over the side and tried to smooth it over with clear polish. I tried to get her to understand it looked off & once again no response. So I get up to go pay & I give her a tip even though I honestly didn't feel she deserved not one red cent !! (I am in the service industry as well so I understand what it's like to do a client & not be tipped) so fast forward to Sunday I do not live in the bay so I get home & low & behold two nails pop off & Monday at work one by one they come off ,so by Tuesday morning I had no nails left on my hands ! So I call Tuesday when I could after work & was told the manager was @ the dr. So call tomorrow ( Wednesday) so I call this afternoon & tell her what happened & she says that she doesn't believe all my nails came off & how do I know you came in Saturday? ( i still have my receipt by the way) I offered to come in with my receipt for a full refund. She of course said she doesn't do refunds & she can redo my nails but I will have to pay for half ... the fact that she & her employees have no manners / customers service skills . I'm honestly surprised they are still in business! I hope if you choose to get your nails done you choose elsewhere! I hope they take these reviews in & change the way they do business but I WILL NEVER BE BACK !!!! If I could give a negative 5 stars I would! They need to also should invest in continuing education for all staff just because cause you have your license doesn't mean you know everything!! read more

This spot was recommended by my friend whom of which has been continuously going to her since she was in middle school (mind you she is 23 now) and said only Cindy does an amazing job. So her and I took a nail day and I got to experience her work. I kid you not; they were the most flawless and actually the way I wanted it. That day was just a walk - in and my friend wanted Cindy so bad that we waited. My friend decided to go to Tammy just for the sake of me trying Cindy. So because we walked in and Tammy was free the most but I wanted to get mine from Cindy, that's where the fighting began. In the midst of mine being finished, Tammy and Cindy we're going at it. No hands were thrown but definitely some standing up and face to face action. The first two photos are from her and the third is from Tammy. I took a second trip to their shop but without my friend this time and I got lucky to walk in and get Cindy. She's a really chill person who actually talks to you. But then my third trip here I got Tammy, who doesn't wear the best suit. So she's nice, but her work isn't what I was looking for. I was asking for a fill & to change my shape from Stiletto to Coffin. Once she finished filing she completely forgot what nail shape I wanted. And as soon as I reminded her, she chopped off my pinky nail w/o letting me confirm the length. Keep in mind my nails were extremely long enough for a good length for coffin nails. THEN she asks me if it's okay but I wasn't going to waste my time having her take off the acrylics and adding a fake nail. So I just agreed and she begins cutting the rest, I kid you not she files all 4 fingers of my left hand and looks at my thumb and pushes it away. Girl do u not see how crooked it was?! Then in the midst of shaving my nail polish, her hand slips from my finger and she cut me. Showing her I was hurt she didn't notice until I started bleeding. To stop the bleeding she used my nail shavings... Aside from there, t'was no apology. Plus she left it at square and not coffin like I asked, by that point I was already done with what she did so I didn't even bother telling her to fix it. As far as nail color application was concerned, it's not too bad for her first time but I know a better way it could've been don't to fade out the glitter but it's okay. Moving on to payment, a normal fill is $21 but I wanted it cut down so she bumped it up to $23. Thinking I had enough money on my card, I paid $20 in cash and $3 on the card because I have $5 in cash as tip. Unfortunately my card couldn't give $3 so I gave her $25 in cash with $2 as her tip. At the end of the day she really just got the tip that she deserved lol. read more

I've been here 3 times. The first time I was happy with the first experience, the last two time was horrible. I know that I shouldn't have gone back after having a bad experience but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The first bad experience I showed them the design I wanted they took a quick look at it and brushed me off as if they knew what they were doing. OK....when it came down to the simple penguin design on two nails they scolded me for not telling them it was supposed to be a different color. Uh hello I showed you multiple times you should know what you're doing! They rushed me because I guess they were closing ... I was upset but dealt with the situation. I went back here today and the same two people were there a guy and this older lady. I asked for a manicure and gel nail polish. Through the whole manicure they didnt engage with me at all. Once again when it got to the simple cherry design on two nails there was a problem, the lady that did it made them look so unprofessional. I told her they didn't even look like cherries she scoffed and re-did them. She messed up 3 times on the same nail and she didn't even take the time to properly take the messed up paint off. It looked messy I was sooooo upset. Finally when I went to pay she just swiped my card with out telling me how much it was or that there was a 50 cent charge for using my card. Really I paied 21.50 for this?! Even with my manicure I didn't get a massage or even lotion. I ended up going to a different salon to get those two nails fixed and they told me that the nail polish they used on the design wasn't even gel!!!! I've never had worst service at a nail shop before in my life! First of all I picked out a picture from their yelp on how I wanted my Nails done. The lady who did them seemed like she wasn't familiar. I had her cut them too short then asked if we could start over because they seemed a lot shorter then I meant to get. We were not very far in and 3 ladies said no no it's too late we will fix it in 2 weeks. So we proceeded with the manicure and the lady doing my nails kept wiping off the designs and starting over. Then she put the jewels on my thumbs crooked I asked her to fix it but the crease was still there. After she moved it. Plus some of my nails are cut crooked. I called over the manager to talk to her about how I'm uncomfortable with my nails. She just cut me off walked away and sat down to watch her video playing on her phone. Then yelled something rude about me to all the other ladies in her language. I wanted to cry I hate my nails. She charged me 40.00 originally 45.00 but I also left a tip. Which made the grand total 45.00 I didn't want to punish the lady that did my nails because she has not been properly trained. Since the first day I walked in the shop to get my nails done and pedicure I observed the ladies who work there tell all walk in's can you wait 5/10 minutes, never did it end up 5/10 min. This shop is a production service get in and get out. I only go there for last minute details and I always get what I pay for, cheap and no quality n care into the work. Why do I still end up there? Because if I can't get to my regular lady for nails/eyebrows I'll wait it out as long then I just give in, I seem to not have learned my lesson yet. Ladies if you get a pedicure know that it is illegal in California to use the cheese grater on your feet b/c it's liable for an open would, here they use it, when I saw the lady reaching for I'm like OHH hell no! Pls don't use those things it doesn't do it's purpose for me it makes it worse. So I get my gel nails done last Friday, knew while in the process that these weren't going to turn out right ,every step to get the gel on was a sloppy and shortened. Early this week not 1, 2 but 3 nails start to lift and you know how disturbing that can be when your nails get caught in your hair or shirt. I called today (yes I know my fault for not letting them know as soon earlier this week) to let them know what's going on with my nails and what I was told is that we can fix it for $8 dollars, WHAT? you're gonna fix my nails for $8 b/c of the nail polish change? she said yes, usually it's $12 dollars. My response to that is just this, Listen I'm calling you to let you know that on Friday I got my nails done and no sooner than Monday they started to lift, yes I should've called you at that time but I'm calling now and you want to charge me $8 dollars instead of just fixing the 3 nails w/no charge? hmm ok so what I'll do is go on YELP and rate you along with a review that your business doesn't believe in customer service that the quality of your work is not important and shame on me for going there a few times even when I said I would never return. So ladies and gentlemen if you need something done and you have no where else to go, especially when you're short on time, prices are cheap right? realize that you get what you pay for, then this is the place for you. She did the length right, but left huge ridges, so after a week, I had these big bumps where they were growing away from the cuticle, also some of the nails had ridges, or raised bumps on the sides. In 2 weeks they were lifting at the bottom. They are nice girls and so close to my house so I wanted to give them a second chance. Today I went in without an appointment and the owner, Cindy did a fill (I had to wait ages, but my bad, no appointment--but she should have warned me of this when I first arrived.) I've heard about the owner of this store and how she "stole" from Nails Unique in some ways more or less, and you can't hate on her hustle anyways because aside from a bigger area which is clean and a less stressed environment, I couldn't say much for her staff. I went in for a full set, and looking at the menu I was relieved it was just about the same as N.U. But this place, I wouldn't recommend for any trendy nail designs compared to the just said nail shop, because the nail tech I ended up with was a bit too incompetent for a simple rhinestone design. Plus they don't have displays of any designs like N.U so maybe this isn't that kind of shop. Before I was next, I should have waited for Cindy (if that was the woman I saw who spoke better English than the two girls in the store) because a girl who was getting her nails done by the incompetent woman got up and complained to Cindy and I overheard most of what she said "Lumpy.... clumpy... uneven... she's hurting me" and that should have been my fair warning to GTFO. I ended up with uneven nails! At some point I guess family members came into the store and this woman all of a sudden wanted to "look" busy which she was dead ass wrong for because she started to hurt me more with the drill/ file. And thought nothing of it when I said ow or pulled my fingers back when she was hurting me. Don't bother showing off for family if you can't do it right! A girl next to her, I didn't know if she worked there or just came in to hang out and do her own nails but whoever she was, wasn't very professional or cute to yell and say SHIT for smudging her nail polish. Esp right in front of me. I don't imagine it gets busy here, today is a sunday and most (good) shops aren't open but I thought I was really desperate when I should have just waited an other day to go to N.U or Champion nails. I was feeling very regretful when I noticed she was putting the acrylic on my nails and were doing them VERY thick esp towards the free edge. If I wanted FAT nails I would have asked. If Cindy wanted to have at least a more successful shop, she could at least hire people who can do their job right and pay more attention to customer service and detail. It's just BASIC requirements of a salon. So Nails Unique can look very run down, crowded, and etc but they take care of their clients way better and they have more to offer when it comes to customer service. If she isn't going to hire better people,she should at least teach them how it's done right. I could have gotten away with paying maybe $12 and lied for having shitty service because that women didn't handle the payment, someone else did up front and they didn't even know what I had gotten done... and I wish I had! In all honesty, Nails Unique should switch spots because I think they deserve the bigger space on account of how big their clientele is and how much more talented nail techs are. read more
