    Half chicken with 3 legs

Dishonest restaurant. I had bought a half scallion chicken to go. They sneaked in 3 legs in the bottom. Stay away from this cheap place!

I've been here so many times and quite shocked with the reviews. I actually think this place taste...pretty good! Now, to address the concerns of the other yelpers; yeah this place is a bit dingy and I'm sure service can be a bit better. But that seems to be a reoccurring problem in majority of these mom and pop chinese restaurants (I am not saying that this is 100% acceptable though). However, in all my visits here, I've left full, satisfied and eager for more. I've been here at all times of the day. In the mornings, they have traditional cantonese/hong kong style breakfast and offer the most basic dim sum dishes as well. I am a bit fan of their siu mai; might taste better than actual dim sum parlors imo. They also offer this red bean gelatin cake that I really like! My favorite part of this place: the roast meats. Their roast pork hve the perfect skin on top and the cha siu have the right fatty levels; not too fatty that it becomes too gross to eat but not too lean that it gets rough. I've literally taken the train here to buy the roast meat and gone home (and I live next to quite a few roast meat places). Seriously, it's worth the trek.

String bean with fish, stir fried veggies, pork chop Peking style, sliced beef with golden mushroom in clay pot

We went there for a quick family dinner last night. I decided to try out this restaurant after ordering $5 of roast pork during lunch time. The roast pork tasted great. To be honest, the place is just a neighborhood restaurant, the waiter who served us was very nice. Price is on the cheap side compare to other restaurants, the portion is pretty big. We ordered string bean with fish, pork chop Peking style, plain stir fried veggies, beef with golden mushroom in the clay pot plus the fish mew soup. Four of us couldn't finish all the food. With the price, taste of the food and portion, we would definitely come back again.

I eyed the low star rating with some trepidation, because many of the criticism was coming from Cantonese people who know what they're talking about and as far as I could tell, judging the place plainly and not on an unreasonably strict curve. Perhaps because my expectations were level set and because the 3 items I had were decent, my normally critical self is going to round up what I would consider a 3.5 star experience to 4 stars. My partner and I biked here on our fancy bikes that we didn't feel comfortable locking outside, and they very kindly allowed us to keep our bikes in the front area. Some tables were occupied, but it was pretty chill on the Saturday afternoon I visited so this might be why they were so relaxed about it. We got the horlick french toast, rice noodles with fish balls, and HK milk tea. It's true that I'm used to Manhattan and north Brooklyn prices but wow things were shockingly cheap on this menu. I didn't expect the best food but the horlick french toast and HK milk tea were particularly good. I think the fish balls and noodles tasted like they were either rehydrated or defrosted and absolutely not made fresh, but again I think this dish was like 5 or 6 bucks? So I'm fine with a little reheated noodle action. What I really came here was for the ambience, and even the haters in the reviews can't deny this place is cute. If I were here with a group I would love to sit in one of their plush booths. They didn't rush us at all and didn't mind me walking around taking dozens of videos. I'd recommend a visit!

I haven't been back to HK since I was 1, but I've been told that the decor is very reminiscent of HK, including the plates and bowls. The food portions are huge compared to what I've seen them serving back when they first opened, based on reviews online. I really like that they are willing to improve themselves. Food itself is pretty solid - I haven't had a rice dish where I felt like I would never order again. Maybe one negative is the fried chicken wings that I recently got, it had a thick layer of batter on them compared to the first time I got them. The batter also seems to be different, similar to the sweet potato starch batter used for popcorn chicken. They have a new HK-style stinky tofu on the menu, which was good, but not as stinky as what I've tried in Taiwan. They also mix them into a salty, spicy sauce, which may be a bit too salty and spicy for people with milder tastes. I would try asking them to put the sauce on the side next time. The service is not the best, but also not the worst. The male waiter doesn't really ever smile, but he will get you what you need when you ask for it. They also never refill your tea or water unless you ask. It's not a make-or-break for me if the food is good, though! I think Chun is one of the better HK cha chaan tengs in the area, with beautiful decor. The initial negative reviews when they first opened probably gave them a slower start, but they're slowly getting more popular now. I wish they promoted themselves on social media because their decor is almost like an attraction that would bring in the younger generation, but I also kinda want to keep this as my own hidden gem!

It did take about 25 minutes from when I placed the order for the food to be ready for pick up but they seemed pretty busy from the number of take out orders. I got the double triple hungry beast feast which I thought I could easily finish so to double down on my mis-calculation I also ordered the snack combo. I ended up eating about half of the snack combo and a third of the hungry beast feast. The feast comes in a giant container with 5 different menu items that are each delicious on their own but it is great to have options. The feast can easily feed two people and is really worth it. Will definitely patron again and try their other items.

It is rich in body and smooth in texture. However, the aroma of the tea was slight covered by the milk choice. Typically, HK milk tea usually comes with evaporated milks or condensed milk by request. Using regular milk will covered the aroma of the tea and pushed the texture to a smoother but lost its taste of the traditional HK Milk Tea favor. This is still good for a regular craving though. I also tried this French Toast with Cream of Mushroom. The French Toast in HK should be paired with Syrup and butter with jam/peanut butter within the toast. This one at Like Cafe was fusion with Cream of Mushroom and cheese inside the toast. It made this devilish afternoon tea item a savory meal itself. It's amazing. I cannot stop saying "CS" (Crazy in Cantonese) after trying the first bite. I recommend to try it with Iced Tea with lemon if you are a small eater. Overall, This is an awesome cafe you can try when you come to Brooklyn. Thanks for satisfying my Hong Kongers Stomach. Burn Apetito Calvin

Also, it didn't come with any soup noodles. The scallion pancakes were very thick, and also tasted off. The 1 inch sauce container was only 1/4 filled and the sauce was extremely saucy. The general tso sauce was super thick, gooey and gelatinous, and the fried rice that came with it tasted more like steamed white rice with soy sauce than anything fried. We arrived on a Saturday night around 6pm and it was packed; there were two parties ahead of us so we opted to put our name down and wait approximately 15-20, which I thought was pretty reasonable. They arrange the tables to optimize space for the following parties, so you might just get lucky with the seating arrangements. As most Chinese establishments, service was fast-paced, but we never felt rushed at any point of the meal despite the hustle and bustle. We ordered a few items for our party of 4 to share: 1. SCALLOP AND PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: Surprisingly was a fan of this. There were big chunks of scallops in the meat. Gave the meat a bit of a bounce, but wasn't tough or chewy either. Normally would order crab at most soup dumpling spots, but scallop was new to me. Would get this again. 2. PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: I commend them for an actual juicy and soupy filling. The pork was seasoned well and we had a whole spoonful of soup from each dumpling. The skin was a little thick for my liking. My judgment of soup dumpling is usually determined by the skin and this one didn't exactly meet the criteria. 3. FRIED WONTONS IN PEANUT AND HOT SAUCE: The star of the show! This was the dish that everyone seems to rave about and what we actually came for. The wontons were fried to a perfect crisp; they were actually crunchy and maintained that despite being dredged in sauce. I felt like there was a bit of a sugary caramelization to it, which balanced out the salty component of the dish. This whole dish encompassed every category in the flavor and texture department. 4. BEEF IN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE: I could've done without this tbh. There were a lot of onions in this, which I have no complaint about, but I wasn't trying to get my money's worth of onions here LOL. Black pepper sauce wasn't anything special either. I actually forgot that it was black pepper sauce because it wasn't peppery enough. 5. SHANGHAI RICE CAKES: The rice cakes had a pleasant chew to it and the sauce coated it evenly. I wish the rice cakes had a little more char to it so it would be more fragrant. Good, but not life changing. Overall a pleasant experience and certainly met expectations. There were some dishes that I liked more than others and some that I could do without. Probs wouldn't make the trip here frequently, but the wontons are definitely worth the trip!
