He told me it was likely the check valve, required a $250 deposit, and said they would replace the part during the visit with the deposit applied toward the repair. When they arrived, they had no parts, spent only a few minutes looking at it without testing anything, and said they'd return later that day. They never came back. After I followed up, Evan was rude and said they couldn't repair the leak--based on the same information I had provided before the appointment. I paid the $250 in cash and received no repair, no testing, and no refund despite requesting one. I feel completely scammed out of $250.

Even though Kirk doesn't regularly service Alameda, he agreed to come for a one-time consultation. He quoted me $400 in advance. However, when he got there, he immediately and voluntarily reduced the price to $300 because he said the pool was not in as bad a shape as I had said it was. Kirk wound up coming back three consecutive days in a row to get the pool to his standards. I kept asking him if I should pay him and he insisted that he would invoice me after the job was finished. Beyond base pricing (and chlorine), they bill for most necessary chemicals separately. This happens multiple times a month so expect an extra $35-$70 on your bill. Don't forget required filter cleanings at an exorbitant price. I would look around for a place that won't nickel and dime you. Also, $220 a month for a service (mid level package) that does not even clean leaves from the pool is outrageous.
