I needed some electrical work done on my car that I didn't feel comfortable tackling on my own. Orange Motors was recommended to me, and it did not disappoint. The owner, Addie, was friendly but straightforward. I appreciated his no nonsense approach. I explained the issues I was having, and he took the time to inspect the car. From start to finish, the communication was excellent. He called me to explain what he found, what he believed was causing the problem, any potential concerns, how he planned to fix it, and what it was going to cost. It wasn't cheap, but that's to be expected when you own a BMW (not a flex, it's old). Once I gave him the green light, he got right to work. By the time I arrived to pick up my car, I didn't need much of an explanation because he had already kept me informed throughout the process. We ended up talking for about 5-10 minutes about the car and another 20-30 minutes about bowling. It turns out he's an avid bowler with a few perfect games under his belt. By the time I left the shop, I not only felt confident that my car was fixed, but I also felt like heading to the nearest bowling alley to put his advice to the test. I don't expect to bowl a perfect game anytime soon, but I'm confident my car will keep running great...and hopefully my bowling game improves too. I think I found my new shop for my car. I'm honestly kicking myself for not bringing my Audi here from the day I received it. I know I would have saved a ton of money from going to the nearest dealership. What brought me here this past week was I went to the dealer for an engine light warning and ended up receiving a $7000+ estimate. At that point, you begin to ask why you're keeping the car, so I wanted a 2nd opinion. I dropped the car off and told him the same problem, intermittent engine light warning. Addie found the same thing the dealer found regarding the engine light. His estimate was WAY less. I asked him to take a look at the entire car because we were still debating on if we should keep it or not. I specifically mentioned a couple of other issues the dealer found. He confirmed the dealer was at least correct, but a little exaggerated on their estimate regarding the urgency and dollar amount. His total to fix everything was just over $3000! Wow! And he would be able to repair it quicker than the dealer offered!! In the end, we decided to sell the car anyway (it was a 2013) and declined to have Addie work on the car, but we had a very nice conversation about the future of cars, where European cars have gone, and the state of hybrid cars. He couldn't have been more pleasant but also knowledgeable. While you're not going to get offered a cup of coffee while you wait (at least I didn't see a coffee pot), it's not an ultra-white lobby, but it's clean. There's a table and chairs to sit on if you're waiting for something, and you're going to get an honest price that's not jacked up. We ended up not getting a European car, but once the car is off warranty, I would swing by here first and estimate before going anywhere else. read more

The owner, Addy, is extremely rude and abrupt. He gave me incomplete information and wouldn't provide a full breakdown of costs. What really bothered me was that he didn't even know the warranty on the materials they install. He kept insisting that OEM parts only had a 1-year warranty, but I told him that everywhere else I checked said it was 2 years. Instead of clarifying, he got annoyed and told me to "look it up." So I did--and confirmed it was 2 years. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, he just seemed irritated that I didn't take his word for it. Fun fact: Great location! About 10 years ago, I was at his shop around 7:30am on a Saturday getting my BMW serviced when I witnessed someone get shot and killed by the police right outside his business --about 100 feet away. I was stuck inside the shop for hours while police carried out their investigation. Updated Response (6/27/24): I am a very happy person and expect exceptional quality services from all business partners that I engage. Those who fall flat on their face will be called out. Regarding police activity and your business, we can all agree that you are located in a sketchy part of Orange. A quick look at police activity in that area would show that was not an isolated incident in addition to the transients loitering around the area. Don't be so defensive and learn from the feedback. Addie quite literally saved my car's life!!! I drive a 2003 Mercedes c240 and my transmission started occasionally slipping when I was on the freeway, and I was fully expecting to have to buy a new transmission for ~$3k (or new car overall). Addie was able to bring my current transmission back to life in a day or 2 for less than half the cost I was originally quoted somewhere else! Then, when my engine started experiencing random misfires, he was able to diagnose the issue, order a brand new catalytic convertor, and repair the second issue so quickly - I was shocked at incredibly quick turnaround and amazing service I got here at Orange Motors. I live in Los Angeles and I'm happy to drive to Orange, CA just for the peace of mind knowing that my car is in good hands. He even repaired a piece of the body that came off in a small fender bender for free, so my car not only runs better than all of the 4 years I've had her, but LOOKS better than before as well. Hmmmm. Maybe I could afford to ship my car all over the country because I wasn't paying $300 for oil changes, and parts that should never have been broken by the mechanic in the first place. Pro tip: do the work that is requested. Suggest repairs without just adding them to the invoice, and getting angry when the (repeat) customer declines a $1000 service, that should have never been over $100. As for not having an appointment, you could have kept the car all week for all I care. Long story short (at least I'll try), my BMW X1 produced white smoke and a burning smell from the engine area. Took the car to Orange motors as I wanted to go to a small business instead of the dealership and hopefully save some money in the process. Addie is the owner and I went in Friday morning after a call with him the day before. Told about the issue and that I had to recently fill in my coolant fluid. I also requested for an oil change since I was at the shop even though I had some miles remaining. Addie called back Friday afternoon and told me it was the radiator that was leaking and it needs to be replaced. Told me he will order the part and work on it Monday. Told me it was a little over a grand total. I authorize it. After several delays, being charged extra, and also getting my rear brake pads and fluid replaced/flush on his recommendation, I picked up my car on Thursday morning and paid close to two grand. I was just hoping the issue was solved. I was wrong. After driving it a little on Thursday, I noticed the same burning smell, but just thought it was some access fluid/oil that needed to be burned off after repair. The next day, Friday, I drove on the highway and the white smoke/burning smell came back, worse than it was before I took it in the shop. Orange Motors is closed during the weekend so I took it back in Monday morning to see what is going on. I was pretty upset, as you can imagine, as the main issue I went into the shop for was not solved, even though it was in the shop for almost a week. Addie and I opened the hood and he saw the smoke and the smell. Only thing he said was "the excess oil and fluid just needs to burn off". I got more upset as he did not even check the car or apologize. We had a heated exchange as I was furious the issue was not solved even though the car was in the shop for almost a week and I spent a lot of money trying to fix this issue. He kept saying I need to drive it 200 miles to "burn off the fluid" and come back if it continues afterwards. After 20 minutes or so of the same argument, I left without resolving the issue. The very NEXT DAY (Tuesday), I feel a "hesitation" in the engine and the check engine light comes on. I was tired of dealing with Orange motors and Addie and just took it in to the dealership. I just wanted to cut my loses. Took the car into BMW dealership Wednesday morning. They called me and told me the smoke and burning smell was coming from the engine. I picked up my car the next day after spending more money. It's been 2 weeks and no smoke/burning smell or other issues since I went to the dealership. Reviews here are good and I'm sure Addie does a good job, but when he doesn't, there is nobody else that holds him accountable as he is the owner. That Monday when I took the car back in was THE WORST CUSTEMER EXPERINCE I EVER HAD. He saw the smoke and smelled the burning, but just tried to say that fluids need to burn off and that it's not an "radiator" issue. I was not a fan of going to the dealership for service/repairs as they are expensive and big corporations, but I guess there is a reason why they can do business. I will never go back to Orange Motors and never recommend them to anybody I know. read more

I have a 1999 vw cabrio.. about a week ago it started losing power pretty rapidly, to the point of not being able to shift out of first gear. Brought it to Orange Motors because I'm sick of taking my German car to everyday mechanics and getting the puzzled look. Not only was he very quick, but my car is running better than it was when I bought it 3 years ago. Well my prayers were answered when I found Orange Motors only a few blocks from my house. Not only does Orange Motors specialize in repairing German cars, the owner Addie is probably the LAST honest mechanic left in the entire world. He will never suggest a repair unless it is absolutely necessary. Most other repair shops would probably pile on the repairs until they've gotten every single dime from your pocket.
