The salesman was very helpful suggested a floor model type of bed, advised me that I'd get all the same coverage as if I bought a brand new bed . Told me it was even sent out to be sanitized . I took his word for it as it was a good name bed. Just 1 year later the bed has been rotated several times and it has sinking Valleys all over it. Sad part is my old bed was in better shape. I am now out $1500 and the store advised me that there is nothing I can do and they are sorry that I was mis-informed. Wrong way to do business in my opinion. Now I have to buy another bed.

I stopped by a few mattress shops in the city, but they were very small and many just carried the major online brands that were non-traditional mattresses (memory foam, no coils). A google search brought me to Craig's: a lot of glowing Yelp reviews, Google reviews, and a New Yorker article describing this "speakeasy" mattress shop. Given that Craig's is located right by my office, I made an appointment online. As others have mentioned, be prepared that Craig's is located on the second floor of an office building and that your appointment will be 1:1. Craig will ask you what kind of mattress you like, cut a piece of cloth for you, and place it on various mattresses as you try them. You never feel rushed or pressured. He IS chatty, so be prepared for that too. I tried many mattresses and ultimately found a mattress that I liked and placed an order (the first one that he showed me!). Fast forward to the day before delivery. I had told Craig I was moving in the morning and would need the mattress to come after noon, but when I got my delivery window it was the first one in the morning. He called the delivery company and they wanted to schedule it for the evening, but he correctly pointed out that because I was in a doorman building they might not let the delivery people up in the evening. He gave me two options: he would go meet them at my building in the morning and let them in OR he would come in the evening and help bring it up to my apartment if they wouldn't let the delivery people up. What? This is a crazy level of service. He also must have spent an hour on the phone between talking to me and the delivery company trying to figure this all out. It turned out my building was able to let them in without Craig being present, but his wilingness to go so far and beyond will not be forgotten by me!

He advised us to go to Macy's which has the best selection. He never pressured us to buy. We did go to Macy's plus one other store but ultimately decided that Craig had the best bed for the best price. We appreciated the time he took and the no-pressure approach. We now have our new bed and are totally thrilled with it. I highly recommend Craig as he knows his stuff and gives you the time and space to comfortably come to a decision.

We didn't feel pressured and appreciated that he gave us the pros and cons of each item we were purchasing so we could make an informed decision. Mattress Shopping is an inevitable and miserable experience, so I certainly went into this with…read moredread. I showed up and explained that I had slept on a mattress that I liked (with make/model info), but that the price was strangely low and I was wondering if they could direct me to the higher-end version. This request was ignored, as was my price point. I also explained that I wanted a plush mattress. The sales person proceeded to walk me around and point to all of the plush mattresses. I can read the word "plush" so if you're going to accompany me you need to offer some information or a service that I cannot figure out on my own. Once I narrowed down my choices to a "top 3" list, I began photographing the tags so that I could go home and research them. There seemed to be info missing on the tags (model #) but the salesperson said the tags had all the info, which seemed odd since several of them seemed to have the same names at different prices. I tried to get some clarification, asking "what's the difference between mattress A and mattress B?" The salesperson read the tag to me "well this one has 800 coils, and this one has 900." That is not helpful. Don't just read the tag to me, tell me why I care about 100 extra coils. I understand that they are working off of commission, but there was a clear loss of interest when I said I was going to go home and research them before I made a $1500 purchase. And thank goodness I did, because the one which the salesperson insisted "a lot of people buy this one" had terrible reviews. I don't care how many people buy it, I care how many people still like it after 6 months, 1 year, + later. If I had a good in-store experience, didn't have to do 100% of my own research when I got home, and reviews matched up, I would go back to the store to purchase and get the salesperson the commission they worked for. If all you do is walk me around like a babysitter, point to beds that say "plush," watch me lay on them, and read the tags to me, I don't care about your commission. I will order online. PS the pillows don't appear fresh.
