Who needs drugs? Do you need drugs? Do I need drugs? I know our cat Kiba does! We just came from Chicago and our elder gentleman needed specially formulated meds because you know, we aren't perfect (felines and humans alike). He's got a few things he needs: blood pressure meds, transdermal thyroid meds and most importantly the potassium medications. The potassium has been bar none the most difficult to get because we needed to get it compounded into a liquid instead of a gel or tablet. Why? Because cats aren't going to willingly take large amounts of those meds even if it's for their own health. Here comes in Tom. I tried calling multiple compoundaries around Southern California and came up empty handed left and right and that they did not compound animal medications. I found Orange County Compoundary through Yelp (and thank goodness for it). Tom thoroughly went through the steps of compounding and even came up with a potassium solution alternative that was even more palatable and easy to mix for our cat than our original formulation! A completely unexpected plus is that he has been able to make it within 2-3 days, where it would take two plus weeks beforehand, and is CHEAPER! This is why the reviews truly help and give you insight about the business and the people supporting it. I would never have found him otherwise! Our doctor first prescribed Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN0 and used Orange County Compounding Pharmacy for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). While picking up the prescription I shared with Tom the CRPS pain to my granddaughter's foot. He informed me that he knew that a topical medicine that he had compounded for others with similar CRPS pain had helped without taking so many meds orally that could impact the liver, etc. He wrote out the compounding formula and we presented to our Pain Doctor. She agreed that it would it most likely help and it did! She now relies on this medicine everyday especially after a shower. Tom took his experience to suggest an option that would be less harmful than oral meds. This topical has made such a difference for her CRPS foot pain. There have also been times when we needed a refill and he has gone out of his way to get it to us quickly. Well, no dirt here...I'm gonna add to the chorus of five star reviews. My dog was literally hanging onto life, and for the life of me I couldn't get him to swallow a pill--he's a big dog with powerful jaws, and of course he didn't understand why I was trying to force his mouth open and get him to swallow these hard, bitter little things. He had no idea they were the only chance of saving his life. I was really stressed, and my dog was running out of time. Enter Tom. I heard about Orange County Compounding Pharmacy from my vet. I had no idea what to expect when I called him, but he said he could help--he had the drugs my dog needed in liquid form. At last, hope! Tom had my prescriptions done in less than an hour and a half, and since I live nearby I came by and picked them up. He is also a dog lover, and we had a nice little conversation about dogs. After desperately trying to find a source for my dogs unique doseage prescription, I googled compounding companies. Most were out of state, and by the time they would have been shipped, his treatment would have lapsed. Finally, I found OC Compounding in Irvine! I went there personally with prescription "in hand". Tom was GREAT! Neither did he want to see a lapse in my dogs treatment for Cushings Disease. It was Friday, late in the day. He said he'd be there til 10:00pm but told me to come back in an hour or so, as he'd start compounding the prescription right away. I picked up my dogs medication at 6:30 and that same night, was able to administer his first dose! Tom is the greatest. I used another compounding pharmacy, recommended by my "hormone doc" for about five years. They were based in Utah, and slow to respond, so it typically took nearly a week to get my drugs, and more than once they had to be Fed Ex'd to make it in three days.
