I believe Dr. Walters is very good at her craft and her assistants are friendly and welcoming. One apple can spoil the whole barrel, however. There is one office staff person who is not only unfriendly, unkind, dismissive, and condescending but is in fact, gatekeeping and vengeful. I will not be back because of that person. read more

Ive tried 4 other optometrists in Asheville prior to visiting Optrix. Dr. Kim was pleasant and professional and discussed my sight in detail which others didn't bother to. Her staff also showed great professionalism and care. Despite having to work within my strictures, I felt well cared for by all. After my glasses came in, I did need two adjustment sessions, but I felt well served and well taken care for. I highly recommend this practice and will stick with Optix from now on. read more

I'm leaving another review for this outrageously unprofessional and dishonest group! We have just found out that my daughter never had macular degeneration as Optix said she did and that she NEVER needed the 1500.00 glasses sold to her by them! I dont want,to go through the whole horrible experience again but having the doctors confirm our suspicions I feel sick from what They put us through. This was the most thorough and informative eye exam I've ever had. Dr Crouch was most knowledgeable; she explained the different facets of eye health, and what I can do to slow the progression of AMD. Summer, who worked with me in selecting my frames and lenses was also very caring and knowledgeable. I learned about the different lenses that can filter out blue light, and which frames best fit my face. As a patient with neuropathic facial pain, I present a challenge for optometrists and opticians. Wearing glasses and/or contacts can be painful propositions if not planned carefully. Because I have never had a doctor who had the patience to walk me through a plan for actually wearing the glasses and contacts that he prescribed me, I have lived the past years in a fog, only occasionally wearing my glasses, shut off from much of the seeing world. Dr. Davis was very attentive to my unique needs, both with respect to my severe facial pain and my extremely dry eye. We discussed other options besides corrective lenses as well, including surgical. He recommended nutritional supplements and dietary improvements for dry eye. When my exam was over, he discussed my needs with the optician who then spent a good deal of time making sure that the frames I chose would be the best possible option for my needs. It is one thing to examine a person's eyes and write them a corrective lens prescription. It is another thing to consider the patient in a holistic way, recognizing that even the best prescription does no good if the patient can't wear the glasses or contacts due to other concerns. Until now, all of the eye doctors I have seen have only been interested in fine tuning prescriptions without any concern for the follow through. Today was the first time I saw an eye doctor discuss my needs with his optician. At my last practice, I'm not even sure the two knew each others' names! I would give this practice 6 stars if I could. Restoring vision to someone who is facing so many other challenges is a very big deal, indeed. read more

This was the best eye exam I have ever received...and since I've been wearing glasses for 20 years...that's saying something. The building is light, bright and very pleasing to the eye. I was greeted promptly and didn't even have to wait. The assistant that checked me in stayed with me throughout the entire exam and once I met with Dr. Walters, she was thorough and helpful and explained her findings and the best recommended care for my eyes. She reminded me how important my eyes are and reminded me to be sure to wear my sunglasses! I returned later in the month to select a new pair of glasses and the optician who fitted me was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and when I had a difficult time adjusting to my new lenses...she went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and comfortable. Amazing group of opticians and eye specialists who carry a wide range of frames and lenses. I got a pair of very chic prescription sun glasses with Blue Tech in them to help protect my eyes from the sun. This technology is also good for protecting eyes from the computer screen light. I brought our son in for a pair of glasses as well and he got a sharp pair of glasses for college with the invested help of the great team at Optix Eye Care. Dr. Walters provided a very thorough eye examination. She is warm, caring, and friendly, and she takes the time to explain each step of the exam. She stressed the importance of preventitive care, and explained things I need to do to avoid future problems. I was able to schedule an appointment very quickly, and my insurance was checked and my coverage explained to me. The office is light, simple, and beatiful. Each staff member was courteous and helpful. Summer did a great job helping me choose a pair of glasses I love, and explained several different types of lenses. We went over the benefits of different types of progressive bifocals, and the benefits vs the cost of each. Her help was more educational, and not the hard selling tactics I have experienced at other offces. The staff cares about the patient's comfort and vision, not just the sale.
