Suddenlink is officially the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I have had several interactions,  all negative and extremely frustrating over the last year. Suddenlinks internal systems are so messed up they cannot even provide repairs. We purchased a house with a Suddenlink provided Tivo and the device is having audio issues. Suddenlink refuses to switch us to a normal cable box because they have no record of the Tivo on our account. I have not reached a single person who can help with simple issues.  Contractors who are sent for repairs do not have the simplest knowledge of networking or how to setup the equipment. Our last tech, and I use that word very lightly, did not have the appropriate equipment on the truck to repair the issues. He had no way to get support from Suddenlink while he was here and he badmouthed the company the whole time he was here. Would not be surprised if he quit after leaving our house. All I am looking to do was consolidate devices and get working TV. I actually feel bad for anyone who does not have a choice in providers. The worst. Avoid at all cost read more

Suddenlink made an appointment to install new Internet and TV service for Jul 9, 2019 between 1pm and 5pm. This morning, the install time on their website changed to between 4:00pm - 5:35pm in Truckee, CA. Suddenlink robo call came in at 4:45pm that installer was on his way. He'd actually just pulled into our driveway. He was one of three contracted tech groups hired by Suddenlink. He said he handles 8-10 service calls per day, and works from 8am to 9pm. Very happy with the install of internet and TV service. Tech was knowledgeable and did an outstanding job. Very hard worker. read more

Optimum cable in Truckee has the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Twice I have had a scheduled appointment that was cancelled. There was no notice. I rearranged my schedule, waited all day and they didn't come. You cannot talk to the local Optimum people without going to the store in Truckee. When I did that I was basically told that they could not help it. "Tech support doesn't grow on trees" I was told. Amazingly bad. If you have any other choice, use it. I had high hopes for this service despite the other reviews, because the tech who installed our service did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, 2 weeks later (and the second day we were home to use the service due to being out of town) the internet kept dropping or speeds were 10mps on a 200mps plan. Calling tech was a deep disappointment. They had me reboot my router a few times and it would work for a bit, then stop. During the calls they said your router isn't connected to our system and they couldn't re-set it, then a few minutes later it was connected... rinse and repeat. Sounds like a router issue to me. The solution? We can send a tech out in 2 weeks to check it out. So literally 2 weeks after they installed, and my second day of trying to use their internet service, I had to wait another 2 weeks for them to look into it? Any plans you may have to work from home with Suddenlink service I'd highly recommend you reconsider. My experience as a brand new customer is that the service is not reliable all, and the tech support solutions of "if rebooting didn't work then can't help you now, see you in a few weeks" to a brand new customer is disconcerting. Oh yeah, almost forgot, I'm writing this review with my cell service as Suddenlink is still down, though I did just get my first bill :( read more

Spent lots of time signing up online for my client's home in Tahoe. I entered my exact street address and zipcode before they would show me the offers/services available for my address. I went through the process of adding channels, adding TV boxes, and other options. I then finished my session, got order confirmation and even scheduled a time for installation! I then called the toll free number to see if I could change the installation time I had requested to an earlier time. The agent then informed me that they do not serve this address! When I asked how this could possibly happen, the agent, Corey, said that Suddenlink bases available services on the zip and not the address... BULL! I gave the exact address. If she can type it into her computer and see that I can't get service - then I can type it into MY computer and it should be able to tell me the SAME THING! MEGA-FAIL! read more

Good Speed and Price - when it works.... There are times when Suddenlink is great - blazing speed at a reasonable price for broadband. And then there are the frequent times when you want to throw your TV or PC out the window because the speed keeps fluctuating up and down just enough to kill every NetFlix movie. It almost seems like they're purposely doing it, or it's just the nature of a single service provider in a rural area - find an alternative if there is one. read more

Be careful with these guys and read their agreement. They've got a modern-day renewable subscription system that puts them in the driver's seat. You're just a passenger - one on a bus that's careening down a hill. Imagine the driver just saying "company policy is that we're going to blow this rig up, with everybody on it" while you remain strapped in your seat and all you need to do is hit the brakes to stop it. And you paid for the bus ride, too. Specifically, your overages on data get expensive. They'll charge you big-time for that and you won't know it's happening until it's too late. Next, when you finally disconnect they've got control till the end of the billing cycle - nothing is prorated. For me, I don't like this kind of business model. I prefer to pay for what I use and not get caught in a trap! The days of these silly user agreements will backfire. As soon as there's an alternative or way to obsolete bad business, it shall happen. Unfortunately they are the only cable provider in the Tahoe area which allows them to be terrible. They do not notify you of bills or if anything changes in your billing and simply shuts off your service. Customer service is zero help and the website is terrible. Update- we received a bill for $456 from Optimum for the first month of service for a service we did not have since it was not working for the entire month of September. They offered a measly $120 credit. I should be billing them for the countless hours I spent on the phone and waiting for technicians to arrive at my home. I'll average it at 12 hours on the phone and 25 hours waiting for a technician. Once again, this is the worst company and customer service I have ever dealt with. Save yourself while you can, and don't sign up with this Optimum. One star reviews is all they have. read more

Suddenlink is a pretty frustrating when something goes wrong. We had four visits to fix our internet (and several cancellations) and customer service was awful. I finally had enough and emailed the Customer Service exec at marc.shapiro@alticeusa.com. This was the magic key. I immediately got a call from the executive customer resolution team. They made sure the team came out and fixed the issue that day. She even called me back to follow up and make sure I was happy. You shouldn't have to do this to get working service but I'll share it here in case it helps others! read more

There is No Way to contact Suddenlink by telephone or chat, or even schedule the famous callback. I tried callback, it was a robot telling me they did not have an agent to answer my question. The computer has screwed my billing, I have to talk to a human because the computer said so, unfortunately Suddenlink does not have any humans available. ZERO STARS, people, there is no customer service. Day 3, talked to human on callback, who said I have to pay $10 to have human fix the computer problem, or do it online. Computer says I cannot do it online. I say I will not pay $10, can I talk to your supervisor ? Supervisor will give me call back. Big LIE ! Would give 0 stars if I could. If they were not the ONLY company that services my area, I WOULD NOT use them. They are very expensive ($85 a month JUST for WiFi) and when it comes to customer service, while their employees are professional, they're very unhelpful. We changed addresses and in the midst of the change we were taken off of automatic billing without being told or offered to enroll. Because we thought we had the automatic payments, we didn't think anything was amiss until our WiFi stopped. Turns out we were two months overdue (when we actually only missed a payment in one month) without ANY prior communication at all. There was no email with our billing information, no communication whatsoever that our account was not charged when it should have been. When I called to fix the WiFi I learned that we were overdue and while they claimed that my billing cycle didn't change yet I was charged an additional $67 for the month in which I switched addresses. If my cycle didn't change why the unusual amount? Of course I can't view my statements from the previous address to verify because we were given an entirely new account when we moved. All in all, horrible communication, horrible service, and horrible experience. If you have any other option, go with the other guys. read more

Waiting on a call as usual. I have had 8 appointments for install, still no cable or internet. They are the only one that services my neighborhood so I'm stuck. You can only talk to call center people in other countries. They keep scheduling someone to run the cable to the house but it never happens, then installers come and cant install. This company is TERRIBLE! I've called for customer service because my internet stopped working. A week later I still have no service and no line of sight to dozing the issues. They route all calls to India and the people are nice but poorly trained and provide incorrect information consistently. Suddenlink has a very, very bad customer service. As others have mentioned in Yelp, we're also emotionally abused by their lack of Customer Service. We started using our own modem starting in September 2019, returned their modem to their Truckee office, and yet they charged us the modem fee for 2 more months after that. We've been requesting and waiting for a refund for 5 months now. We have NOT received it yet. So we're totally done with this company. We're terminating our subscription as of today (2/5/2020). True to their bad customer service, they're refusing to give us a prorated refund for this month. My wife has been on the phone for almost an hour now to resolve the issues with them and still not done. She talked to April, Kim, and now Mark. All just gave us excuses and runarounds. I have been a customer for 15 years in Tahoma, CA. The connection speed and cable TV are adequate for what I need and the service if fairly reliable. That is the only good news. I receive all of my bills from every vendor via hard-copy (mail), not email because I receive to much spam and I am afraid that I will miss a bill. To date Suddenlink has: Defaulted to the homes address, yet Tahoma does not have mail service from the US postal service (P.O Boxes only) Defaulted to email delivery when I have specifically told them not to. Written down my address incorrectly using Apartment number and not Suite number with the explanation that there system doesn't allow suite #'s. So after not being paid for approximately 2-3 months the service is interrupted (stopped). I immediately call them and pay the total past due, approximately $450.00 plus a $10.00 re connection fee. The $10.00 is not worth the headache of fighting for so I have not bothered in the past. This time (approximately my 4th time being disconnected) I said I wanted it refunded because their system "defaulted to electronic billing". I asked the service representative (who was nice) to reverse the $10.00 charge since it was their mistake. He said he could not. I asked him to review my previous call. He did and found a call in June, approximately 2 months ago, where I had again (for about the 5th time) corrected the improper sending of my bills. He read the previous operators notes back to me where I had changed the electronic bill to a hard-copy mail address. He agreed with me that it was their mistake but stated that since the service was disconnected that $10.00 fee had to stay. I then asked to speak with a manager and after waiting for a few minutes was told that there is no-one to speak to at the moment and a manager can not take away that fee anyway. I asked to have a manager call me back to which I was told it may take up to 2 days. Clearly EVERY review is true. Its good to be a monopoly so you can treat your customers like crap and still make a fortune. It's $10.00 dollars, its not about the money, do the right thing! It's a mistake and we all make them, no big deal but I shouldn't be punished for your mistake! read more

This is the first time I've ever left a review on Yelp, signed up just so I could give this company 1 star! I found out I had an overage on my internet usage and the overage amount was $95. I downgraded my Netflix from 4K to HD so that this wouldn't happen again, and the next month the overage was even worse, $135! It turns out the billing period for the overages is over 2 months earlier than the billing period for the monthly charges, so by the time you see that you have an overage it is more than 2 months too late! Just off-the-charts predatory behavior even by the standards of cable companies. They are also trying to charge me $100 for an unreturned modem even though I put it in their return box 4 days after my service ended. If you have ANY other options for how to get your internet please avail yourself of those options! On the plus side, the installation was easy back when I got the service set up and the installer was totally on the ball. I personally didn't experience any outages during the winter, except when the power went out to my street. read more
