WORST Internet Provider in the business! The WiFi randomly shuts off multiple times a month, and when it is working it is usually super slow. I've had AT&T for 3 years and never had one issue and it's less than half the price of Suddenlink. I experienced slower than 400 meg internet for at least a few days so I, with great trepidation, set up a service appointment. The fellow arrived and told me that the problem was not with my home network or wiring but with some cabling in the alley and that it might take "up to two weeks" for them to fix it. He elaborated that they used to have a big crew responsible for that kind of repair but that now there were only two or three guys who had to cover the whole city--and that I might have to wait for one or two other customers on my block to complain about their service before a ticket could be created for my problem. (!) He further advised me that I would be eligible for a credit for the time that I was experiencing slow internet. (As slow as 9 mbps instead of the contracted 400!) The fellow did at least provide his cell number and told me to call him if the problem weren't resolved in ten days. After eleven days, I did an internet speed test and I finally was getting the 400 that I'm paying for, so I called Suddenlink with great trepidation to claim the credit for the time during which I experienced slow internet. I got a very foreign fellow on the line and he initially tried to give me eight for two days' worth of slow internet. So I deduced that bad internet was worth a measly four bucks per day worth of a credit. If that was the going rate for such slow internet, then I felt that I was entitled to a credit of $44 (11 days x $4). He tried to claim that I only had two days of bad service and I had to grab my computer and document the daily speed tests that I'd performed. Then he put me on hold for ten minutes (coming back every few minutes to thank me for holding and that he was still "working" on my case with his manager). He came back with $12. I'm on hold with this Indian outsourced labor and on hold for ten minutes and the SOB comes back with a credit of only four dollars more? (I'm no xenophobe, but isn't there a citizen of my community in need of a job?) I argued for $44 and he put me on hold for 15 minutes. I'm livid at this point, but somehow maintaining my cool on the outside. I'm on hold forever so I had plenty of time to meditate and tell myself how it is the case that we Suddenlink customers are to account for our sins, how if aren't able to honor an service appointment, BAM $50 bucks out of our bank accounts. If we forget to send in payment, BAM! --they cut off our cable and add in late fees. If Suddenlink somehow screws up, which they do, then there is no "BAM" on their end. They suffer no consequences for their screw ups in fact, we get "BAMMED!" for their screw ups since I've now got to be on the phone with an Indian or Pakistani national for an forty-five minutes while he gets paid $3 an hour to try chisel me down $12 from $44. So I'm still on hold and I tell myself, "If this polite Indian comes back with anything less than $44 for the eleven days of bad internet, then I'll cut off my nose to spite my face and pursue this case in small claims court even if I have to fly to St. Louis to do so." I didn't have to. After being put on hold and talking back and forth to the polite, outsourced labor for a total of 45 minutes, he finally said, "I'm authorized to offer you a $40 credit." I took it and saved the airfare to St. Louis. My family really likes Suddenlink and so I make the sacrifice both in terms of the nearly $300 monthly bill for cable, phone and internet and in terms of wasting my patience and time with horrid, horrid customer "service" whenever things go wrong. It ought to be criminal to put customers what they put their's through. (Rats! I just did a speed test and my internet is slow as tar in the winter again!) =(( I'll follow up here. read more

WORST company ever!!!!! I added cable and home phone because I already had internet with Suddenlink. They hooked up my cable in a timely manner but they never would port my home phone over. They kept giving me the run around. After over 2 weeks, I gave up. I tried to see if getting a new phone number would be faster but they refused because I have a past due balance, which was never mentioned to me before to prevent me from getting my home phone hooked up. Unfortunately they are the only stupid internet provider I can get in my stupid apartment complex but I will be moving soon and hope to drop Suddenlink completely. They REALLY do NOT care about their customers and they treat us like crap!!!!!!! I will be dropping my cable as soon as I can as well. Also, if your bill is due on one day and you get paid one or two days later, they REFUSE to give you 2 extra days to pay that bill. They don't work with their customers at all and they don't care if we are happy with their services or how they treat us at all. They are too big of a company and they only care about profits and not their customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was trying to get a job with Suddenlink for a little while. Their call center is very close to my son's school and I thought that it would be great for me to work there as well as get discounts. I had several interviews but they would never really consider me. Then I applied for a clerical position, which is what I have experience in. The job posting said they had 5 positions that they were filling. I received a voice mail on a Friday about scheduling an interview. I returned the call but no one answered so I left a voice mail. On Monday, I got an email thanking me for applying for the positions but telling me that they were moving forward with other candidates. They are liars and they honestly do NOT care about their customers at all!!!!!! I'm fixing to drop my home phone from them ASAP and I won't be looking to them for cable service either. I have been with Suddenlink about 15 years. The last two years have been a nightmare. The latest issue, in August a guy from Suddenlink came to my house for an appointment. I told him I did not have an appointment. Got my bill and was charged $60 for a missed appointment. I called their awful customer service several times and explained I DID NOT have an appointment. They said the call came from Larry Holland (my husband). My husband is not able to talk on the phone. I remembered there is another Larry Holland in town so I called him. He said he did have an appointment in August and it was a no show. I called Suddenlink again and explained this. They said they don't care, I am still responsible for the charge. Suddenlink is moving backwards, instead of getting rid of set top boxes just to receive channels 2-68. They now have digitized even 2-13. this means you MUST use a box to receive any channels from them. We used to have Time-Warner in south Texas, you didn't need anything other than your TV to watch 2-68. Suddenlink could send you digital signals to non-digital channels, but they seem to enjoy spending more money on equipment that in reality is not needed. We signed up for a package that would include internet and cable service. The convenience of signing up online was great and shortly thereafter we got an email indicating our tech would arrive two days later between the hours of 8 and 10 am. I try really hard to be understanding and accommodating but we all have our limits. On the day of the install, I got up early in the hopes the Tech would arrive shortly after 8. At 9:30 I was wondering if they were running late so I started a chat session with a rep named Greg J. He starts telling me my install is scheduled for 9:30 to 11:00. When I explained the email stating 8-10, I miraculously received a phone call from an Oscar apologizing. He like Greg says they were caught up at another install. I told both of them that more than likely the installer was still in bed. Low and behold, at 9:45, I get a knock on my door and the guy immediately starts explaining the install as if I really care to hear it. Apologies must be the company mantra. I had the same experience with furniture delivery the day before and in an attempt to limit my time away from work, i tried in vain to get Suddenlink to show up but again they apologized and said they were overbooked. read more

After being a suddenlink customer for over 10+ years I finally had enough. Internet was slow and I turned in several trouble tickets for for slow internet. Originally had 50mb service and after several speed tests was only getting 20-24 mb on a good day. They came out and blamed it on my router. I have been through 3 routers and not the cheap ones because they continually blamed my routers. The last router I purchased a spent a mint on and still slow internet. There solution was to upgrade me to 100mb only to get 30-40 mb on speed test. Not to mention my bill was constantly going up a few dollars here and there. They were constantly sending me flyers in the mail for the Altice One service which was a promotional rate considerably lower than what I was currently paying, but that was only for new customers not VIP customers. I called to cancel service and only after being on phone with them for 45min did they decide to upgrade me to 400mb and lower my bill. This infuriated me even more. The time to do this was when I turned one of the several trouble tickets with no resolution. After I was adamant on canceling service rep attitude changed and was very rude. She informed me I just started a new billing cycle and would not be refunded any money so I might as well keep it until the end of billing cycle. Now I was getting calls every day from them begging me to stay which went in answered. I turned in my equipment within two days and they can keep my money. I'm done. I have new internet provider now and guess what! Turns out my router is fine and super fast. read more

I've been with Suddenlink for about a month and it is literally unfathomable how they have managed to not get a single thing right. When I initially signed up I wanted the altice one box I was sent a TiVo box that a friend of mine had 10 years ago. I spent weeks arguing with customer service who repeatedly came up with out of the blue made up reasons they couldn't help me. Including one member of their customer service team attempting to get out of the situation claiming they didn't offer service in my area I'm an existing customer! I finally decided to go to the retail store and believed I was about to get the assistance I needed. They "upgraded" me to an altice One mini as my only box. After a day and a half of being on the phone with customer service trying to figure out why it didn't work. A friend of mine who works for AT&t explained it that you must have the altice one regular for the mini to work the mini serves as a Wi-Fi extender and casting interface for the regular box. In conclusion an AT&t employee knew more about how Suddenlink functions than not only their retail store manager but their customer service technical support as well. So in case it helps anyone out there the local store will attempt to sell you altice One mini as a primary cable box and it will not work. I am happy that I am apparently now the most qualified Suddenlink technical support in the local Lubbock area lol read more

We installed cable TV in my father's room at his nursing home in Lubbock. His first bill was confusing and very high. I called SuddenLink in an attempt to obtain some clarification on the charges and waited on hold for over two hours. When I finally was able to speak to someone, she wouldn't listen to my question about the bill because my name is not on the account. I explained that my father is legally blind and unable to read the bill and that I pay all his expenses and have legal power of attorney. She didn't care and was extremely rude and unsympathetic. She just kept reading from an obvious script about how she couldn't help me. When I asked to be transferred to a manager or someone who could assist me, she refused and just kept reading her script. SuddenLink makes my provider, Comcast/Xfinity, look like a five-star provider. Stay away from SuddenLink if you have any other options. read more

When I arrived, the place was full (about 30) customers with ONE representative to handle the load. That one representative shows no (ZERO) sense of urgency. The next person talked to was polite and put in the cancellation order but then told me she needed to connect me to a supervisor to complete the call. If there were an option for no stars that's what it would be. We had a lady come fix our cable (which was out for over a month and wasn't fixed) and the internet never works even when they "fix" it. I pay $15 per month to rent my DVR from them. The box stopped working. We had to disconnect and take it to the office myself to avoid a $25 fee. Then the cable still didn't work. We had to call out a technician to look at our problem. Turns out we plugged in one wire incorrectly and the technician told us there was no charge to correctly connect the box. Then we got our bill and they charged us $40 for tampering with technicians work. I called to despite the charge but they pretty much told me that it's non refundable. Supposedly their technician called me several times receiving a busy signal on my cell phone and left a door tag at 3:58 PM at which time I was sitting in my driveway on the phone with Suddenlink so that would have been a nice trick and less he was say invisible to me. But yes he did leave a door tag with out any information on it. At sign up, it stated free installation. That's it'. Then to find out it's three months of bills paid on time to earn the gift card, ok that's fine no problem. Get setup online, bill due date is 10/17. Set a reminder to pay the bill today. Get paper bill, due date is 10/17. Okay. Today is 10/15 i go to pay online and it says LATE. Excuse me? So after sitting on chat for 30 minutes with an idiot who can't help me I call and ask for a manager. Get refused to speak to one. Then I'm told that we're ineligible for the amazon reward due to paying late? Supposedly we have to pay a month in advance, 7 days after instillation. We were NEVER told that. Never told to pay 7 days after instillation, never told that we had to pay a month in advance and NEVER told we would basically be paying two bills in one month. The rep says after looking at the account, she agrees we were never told but it didn't matter because were still ineligible and there's nothing she or a supervisor can do. I said so you're admitting it's yalls fault for not disclosing information but the customer is the one who gets screwed? She said yes ma'am, I'm stating it's not your fault it's ours but there's nothing we can do. What a scam! Basically they promise you benefits up front and then find a way to screw you out of them! We've been a Suddenlink customer for years. We've been having issues with the internet the last couple months. The service would just come and go. So, being tech savvy, I know what to do on my end to fix it and not bother the tech support team, AND not waste my time to have them tell me to do what I already know to do. So I have done my thing for the last couple months, and then the service comes back on. However, the intermittent problem became more frequent until Saturday night when it went off. It was late at night, so I went to bed, figuring that it would come back on during the night. Well ... Sunday afternoon, and it still wasn't on. I called tech support. The guy couldn't fix it, and was going to charge me for service to come out. It wasn't my fault, so I mentioned I may just get another provider. He hung up on me. WHAT?!?! Yep ... hung up on me. So, I call back ... Ashley attempted to help me ... she couldn't get the modem working either. However, she gave me an option of the service guy coming out, and me being charged, or take the modem in to the Suddenlink retail location and they will swap it out. I told her that this was an old modem, and asked how long the warranty was. She told me it didn't matter, and she assured me that they would swap it out. So ... I waited overnight, and then went in Monday to swap out modem. Oh ... no, no ... it's too old, out of warranty ... and they can't swap it out. WHAT?!?! Unbelievable. So, Jacob wasn't going to do anything for me. Afterall ... We're just the customer. We pay them $67/month for this kind of service ... $804/year. So, Jacob told me that I could rent a modem for $10 per month ... not interested. I called back into customer service to complain about the type of service (or lack thereof). Lori got my call. She was pleasant, understood, but "couldn't" do anything other than say she was sorry. I asked for a credit for the poor quality of customer service that I have received and for my time that I've had to invest jumping through hoops, and not receiving any help. She suggested that I rent a modem for $10 per month. I explained that I have had this modem for over 4 years. Paying $10 a month for 4 years is $480 ... for a modem ... ummmmm ... no thanks. She said that after I bought a modem, that I could call in and have it assigned to my account. OK ... I went and purchased a modem/router combination. I spent $170+. I hooked it up. I contacted suddenlink to assign it to my account. I (unfortunately) got the opportunity to speak with Amelia. Who initially said that she couldn't assign my modem, but then surprisingly asked for some info so that she could do it. Hmmmmm!!! When I asked for a credit, she said she can't since there was no service interruption. What was Saturday night, and Sunday? What was it that the two reps on Sunday couldn't connect the modem? I told her about the intermittent issues for the previous couple months ... get this ... since I didn't call in ... it didn't happen. NOW ... I'm a liar (according to her). This is the bottom line ... Suddenlink (Altice, whatever they want to call themselves) doesn't care! They simply don't care! They've gotten too big for their britches. I asked Amelia when was the last time we asked for a credit? We haven't. I've put up with intermittent service for $67/month, without complaining. We've turned down other ISPs soliciting our business. We're asking ourselves now ... WHY? We've been loyal to Suddenlink ... WHY? Well ... they obviously don't appreciate our business ($804 per year) ... they don't appreciate our loyalty (10+ years). They will now lose our business & loyalty. I would have been happy had they simply said, "Mr. Davis, we're so sorry for the service you've received, the misinformation you've been given, and any inconvenience you've experienced ... would a $10 credit help?" I would have accepted that. It would have shown some compassion for the situation. NOW?!?! That won't work. I plan to let our experience be known on every social platform I can. Others should know that Suddenlink (Altice) doesn't care about loyal customers. I've been in customer service for over 30 years ... I wouldn't let this issue get anywhere near this far down the road. I just got off the phone with John in Texas for Suddenlink Residential. His supervisor is Richard. I was ripped off by them today for 5 data violations going back 45 days at $15 each. A total of $75. I was notified until today that I had went over a 2nd time. Even though I am a long-term customer, they would not budge on the charges. This company has an exclusive agreement in the city I live in (Jonesboro, AR), so I can't go to a competitor. I will quit as soon as high speed internet by satellite becomes available. I've used suddenlink many times and just recently have decided never again. Paying monthly for 100mbps and ever since the install not only was i getting no more than 20mbps but the service was on and off. So had a tech come out found one problem. Then it worked a few days and then back to the same problem. Three techs later same thing. Then I saw a service charge of 60$ added to my bill without without warning. Now they won't even come out and fix their own stuff that they wouldn't do right from the install, they would come out and charge me 60$ minimum to have them fix their problem. When the standard suddenlink service charge is 40$ not 60$. All they do is lie. Do not use this company for any services. Wouldn't use a star but unfortunately I have to use 1 star. read more

My Internet has been down since Sunday, had three appointments scheduled, only to find out that they upgraded my service without my permission, provided me with a modem that doesn't work, and then they refused to cancel my service today. They said I will have to be charged through the end of the billing. Even though there is no contract. I recommend all unhappy customers to call the FCC or file a complaint with the FCC. I called, and I went to the place of business. They refused to give me a receipt for the equipment. I think a class action lawsuit against Suddenlink is called for. Their customer service is nonexistent, they are extremely rude and condescending, their billing practices are criminal, there is no code of ethics, and you can't speak to anybody here in the United States.
