Went to this store location to make a change in service. The representative was not knowledgeable of their products or services. Tried to do their jedi-salesman tactics so I won't reduce my monthly equipment rental cost. They even tried having the manager explain it, but I stood my ground and forced their hand to make the change to my account. So if you are going into this store location, be aware they must be working on commission and will try to upcharge you at all costs. The price increases every year by at least 10% and customer services does not give a sh&t about working with customers to keep the price reasonable. If you DO use them, take advantage of the introductory rate and SWITCH when the rate goes up. Trust me, it will. In addition, their email is primitive. My rate - for two boxes, NO HBO or Stars, basic channels, and multi-room DVR just went up to $258 per month!!!! That's for only 300 speed. This location is right off of Route 10 and has parking. I was in and out in 5 minutes, and the new cable box works fine. They had Covid safety protocols in place. Really sucky. I needed to replace my cable boxes so they sent me 2 new ones, supposedly I could self-install by calling them when I got them. Documentation that came with the boxes said all that was needed was to hook up the hires. Turn them on, and it prompts for the tech representative ID. Call them was on hold for 1 hour and 50 minutes when they finally got someone. That's something only the tech can enter, that should have been done before they sent the boxes. So can they give me the code? No. Now need to wait to send two more boxes, all stores are closed because of COVID19, and will need to figure out how to get the old boxes and the 2 they sent that are locked, back to these guys. If either of the other 2 boxes gives me this problem I'm cutting the cord or switching to FIOS. And working or not, if they charge me a second time, I'm calling the public utilities commission. More often than not, customers don't have a choice of television, internet, and phone service providers because of the de jure monopoly created by the public service utilities commissions to prevent multiple companies from digging up your street to install their own lines. I've had several hardwired and satellite providers over the years as I've moved from home to home. Optimum (formerly, Cablevision) is the absolute worst TV/internet/phone provider (and perhaps the worst utility altogether) that I've had to use -- which says a lot coming from someone who had to live with Time Warner Cable for several years while living in New York City. My recent experience trying to upgrade from the legacy Optimum TV/internet/phone service to the well-advertised Altice TV/internet/phone service provided by Optimum is a prime example of being forced by circumstances to work with a company that disrespects existing customers during the sales process, subcontracts the installation process to incompetent and disrespectful vendors who don't understand the technology they've been asked to install, provides woefully inadequate customer service and support via telephone with 2-3 hour-long wait times to talk to a representative who's working remotely from a restaurant or bar to deal with technical issues, and provides sub-par service by any key quantifiable measures (e.g., internet speed and outages). In any other circumstances, this business would be bankrupt, but the Cablevision has the benefit of a virtual (if not actual) monopoly over television and internet service to protect their profits. Throughout my recent experience, I tried to treat the folks at Cablevision whom I spoke to with respect and professionalism, which was never reciprocated. It is very rare that you are able to speak to someone who is genuinely helpful. On two occasions during the upgrade process, which required no less than 3 technician visits over 4 weeks, when the technician encountered a problem he couldn't solve (a previous technician had disconnected the main line from the street.. oops!), he walked out of my house, saying he was "going to get something from the truck", left my front door wide open, got in the truck, closed out the service ticket, and drove away. Eventually, I wound up solving the issue myself by reconnecting the feed from the street and, when I went to this location in Randolph to return the legacy Optimum boxes (which should have taken by the installing technician but were left behind when he fled before finishing the installation), I was called a thief and a liar by the associate who assisted me. Avoid at all costs if you can find an alternative provider. read more

I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. I called in September to lower my service due to no income. I lowered it because I knew in October I wouldn't be able to afford it. Person (did not get name) told me it would now only be $84 instead of $194 so my bill comes and it's NOT LOWERED!! Cablevision is the worst cable/internet service provider. When you call customer service to ask a question, you go multiple prompts before you can talk to someone. You finally talk to someone and there is so much noise in the background it is difficult to hear the representative's answer. Then you ask a question that the representative, Christopher, in our case, he hangs up on you. I called back and spoke to a nice lady that actually helped me. We have had internet with them for about a year because fios wasn't available here. In that year we have had numerous problems with our connectivity and being charged for services not rendered. In addition, we had auto pay but this past month we were charged a late fee. The first person I talked to "took care of it" but then I got charged anyway. I called again and they couldn't tell me why it happened and promised a refund that I haven't seen. Now I have no internet at all. I work from home and it's important. But, I wasn't to worry because Optimum was going to replace those 14 movie channels with something "wonderful". When you buy a product such as "Cablevision", you do it based on what they offer. Customer Relations is not customized for Senior Citizens that have been a customer for over a decade. I had cable boxes that I knew were outdated and needed to be in-person exchanged at the local Cablevision Center in Randolph. I went though a myriad of unnecessary prompts that wanted me to reboot my cable box when I knew this was not the problem. I simply wanted to make an appointment to the Randolph center for a in-person visit. The AI phone voice assistant kept me in in a perpetual loop and then disconnected my call after stating I needed to go online for further help. It also asked me for my access code that I did not know and my online profile did not list. After 4 calls to various phone numbers I had to learn to fake the system and said I had an appointment. I got a human voice that was not local but could assist me with my local problem. She said she could give me my access code if read off the serial number on back of the cable box which was in a point size type of approx 4. I had to use a magnifying glass to read off the number. She agreed with me that my cable box was outdated and rebooting the system would not fix my problem. Finally got an acknowledgement to go to the local center to physically bring in my problem for resolution. Wish IT companies were more respectful to the special needs that seniors have that don't know the language of this internet prompt jargon and bring back familiar English that worked in past in getting help. read more

The tech showed up my brother and I explained the problem. The tech said he was going to get his ladder. He said its probably a loose wire. The tech got in his truck and took off. Optimum/Cablevision in my experience is by far the worst internet and cable provider on the market. We lived in a townhouse where the HOA only had the option of Optimum/Cablevision. Now we moved to a house in Morris County and like falling from the ashes into the fire, our neighborhood only offers Optimum/Cablevision. Internet and cable always drops out and cable service is primitive for how expensive it is. There has to be a better way to get service you pay for. read more
