By far the biggest rip off, the WORST customer service. Actually there is zero customer service. They just treat you as a consumer avoid at all costs caution caution caution stay away from this provider. Any of the other providers are better than this one. One star is overrated. read more

The people that work there are great Optimum got $120 payment from me thru bill pay the third they decide to take out of my savings $104 extra on the 5th which made me go in the minus it's corporate that will screw you over and leave you with $50 to live on for 3 weeks. So I cancelled auto pay they said we can't refund your money so I said send me a check then for what you owe me. Employees in Kanawa City fun to be around but have to come from a funeral dress in black go to Optinum then to the bank then back to Optinum was on the phone spent 2 hours there burning up. This was fraud and they know it....corporate. read more

Big surprise my service is out again. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They are the only ones around so it's either this or nothing read more

300 a month service that one is always out switched to starlink have good service all the time and they call to offer me this big promotion for so cheap if I was the long term valued customer they would have lowered my bill to begin with not keep raising it every month and seevice is awful read more

Signed up for 1 gb service, what a joke. Max ever was 300. The rates have gone up to 120 and for what? It was out all day one day last week, they gave us a *new* modem (same as old actually) and now it buffers non stop and tells you to sign in, and nobody can come out until 9/5. I wish we could get DSL here, thinking about going back to the Verizon modem, this is ridiculous. read more

service goes out frequently , customer service is useless if you can actually reach it. I've had service out with them telling me multiple times there's no outage and wasting my time checking my equipment only to see their truck fix it and my internet miraculously returns. I'll likely be looking elsewhere after my last unresolved problem. read more

Terrible company that trains reps to lie to customers. promos are garbage just to get people to stay with them longer.

"up to 100mb speeds" my ass optimum is so bad but at first they make it seem fast then after a month or so it goes completely to shit even after buying a new router and new ethernet and anything you could think of even switching my plan 5g keeps going out and doesn't work and the regular 2.4ghs runs 12-50mbps MAX read more

Optimum - Internet Service Providers Near Me - Charleston, West Virginia

STAY AWAY FROM OPTIMUM IF YOU CAN I am very fortunate that I work for a company that provides a generous amount of PTO, because I have lost WEEKS of work since Optimum acquired Suddenlink. I thought Suddenlink was bad, but it turns out that I didn't know what 'bad' actually was. Suddenlink was fantastic compared to this - at the very least, when I had issues I could eventually reach someone that knew what was actually wrong, and the technicians that were sent would be at least competent enough to know what to do or who to call. Currently a significant portion of my street has no service. Every time there is a problem the now outsourced technical support tells me that my modem is at fault. NOBODY AROUND ME HAS WORKING INTERNET. The same thing happens every time. It takes DAYS to WEEKS and MULTIPLE CALLS to get issues fixed. My employer is a saint for putting up with the amount of time I've lost to Optimum. Thankfully as of this week my cell carrier now offers unlimited home internet, I'm trying it out now and am hoping it will finally allow me to be free of that dumpster fire of a service provider. read more

Please for the LOVE of GOD get US ENGLISH speaking help!! wait on the phone for hours to speak to someone who knows very little English and understands even less......stop hiring out of country call centers where you talk to a guy with a rooster crowing every 10 seconds and telling you "thats the tv let me turn it down" just to have it get louder. its unbelievable that we pay this company tons of money every month and cant even use one of our phones, and no one helps get it fixed....might be a rant but its TRUE read more

Suddenlink internet has been out for 9 days at my home. They told us that someone would be here YESTERDAY between 9 am and 6 pm. They never came. Then, we finally reached a rep who they said that someone would DEFINITELY be here today. Um...nope...not a soul... Absolutely pathetic. What other business could make two appointments and never show...and obviously not even care. Garbage. read more

An optimum technician was here March the 16th in my apartment and he stoled my remote control to my soundbar that I had just purchased from Best buy I reported him to the manager and they were going to replace it but I never received it so I will be terminating my services June the 3rd. Optimum is a facade they put all of these nice commercials on TV but they're the total opposite read more

Service is decent when it works. When it doesn't work, however, good luck. Customer service is the worst. Completely incompetent and unable to address problems. read more

Bad, bad and worst! Wish if we have other options but... Since there were mergers it's just not same. Local offices has been shut down no luck with phone call one time I waited 2 hours to talk bad customer service read more

You will regret using Suddenlink/Optimum. As simple as that. Absolute worst internet company I have ever dealt with. I have never done a review before but I have had bad experience after bad experience with them. I've only been using the service for 5 months and they've charged me over 1K for bogus charges on my bill that you can't even easily understand. You'll have to call 5 different numbers to even be able to get ahold of a representative and when you do get ahold of someone to ask about these charges...get ready to be sent to 3 different people all of whom have no idea how or desire to help you in anyway and just say they can't help you in a monotone voice. (I'd be emotionless too if I had to deal with upset customers all day) Poor service, unhelpful employees, expensive bills. If I could I would give them a review less than 1 star. Don't put yourself through this. read more

Worst company ever. We signed up for business internet and they came in and installed a house modem while doing so broke two ceiling lights we had and said they can't be held accountable. They came back again to install the right modem and still installed a house modem.. The third time was the charm and we got our business modem. We haven't even had the net at our shop for a month and they disconnect us today stating we owe $450 dollars citing it was due for the 3 modems (mind you two of which were wrong and they took back), the 3 service trips (again two due to their screw ups), and a $300 deposit fee which was never brought up once. Now we can't run our business and have to fight with them to lower the bill which I'm sure is not going to go good. This company needs to be sued out of business! read more

THE MOST INCOMPETENT COMPANY EVER. Called to cancel my service and was told I had to pay the past due in order to make my account active in order to cancel. NEVER have I ever heard that from a company ever. didn't have problems cancelling suddenlink with a past due balance when it was actually suddenlink. read more

I have tried to cancel service for 45 days. They made the first appointment to cancel over 30 days away. They stated it was because of the "billing cycle." I was charged another month so I looked up my account, the service is still active. They did not reschedule or call me. I have NO Suddenlink equipment so its not necessary to be there for the disconnect. I am attempting to get a new disconnect date and the representative will not give a date. They state, "Please do not worry on this after pending disconnection will be done it will be moved to disconnection and as you are not using the services you will not be charge." So they will not give me a date. I assume they are trying to get another month from me. I switched to frontier almost 2 months ago, I tried to service out for a few weeks. It was very fast. My bill with frontier is $55 guaranteed for 3 years. I am still chatting with Suddenlink. I again asked for a new disconnection date, the new response is, "Usually it will take 3-4 days after pending disconnection." They will not reschedule the date. I already filed a complaint with the FCC. I am going to attempt to find a class action lawsuit to join. read more

This is Suddenlink. They had a monopoly in my area for years and took full advantage of that. I had unreliable internet service for a decade and their customer service was even worse. Now new providers are coming to my area and they are trying to stop the bleeding. They mistreated the community for so long they knew they had to do something but, instead of changing their poor policies and service they changed their name. After dealing with them for years this is exact what I would expect form this company. read more

The absolute worst company I've ever had. Their internet is horrible and the customer service does little to nothing to help! 6 years of the same crappy service! Suddenlink is dogshit read more

I had to give them one star in order to submit a review, however, If I could give negative, I would. This is the absolute worst service provider EVER. I had to call them because they blocked my modem. They said they no longer provided the internet speed I was paying for, but they could upgrade me at no additional charge. That evening, I received an email that DOUBLED my bill. Now, they can't answer why. LIARS. They price gouge, they take advantage of our area as they have a monopoly. I cannot wait for another company so I can CANCEL THEM. WORST BUSINESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER read more

Just a awful company that doesn't ever tell the truth. Took over monthly payment after my dad died in January. Haven't gone 1 month without having to call customer service. Most definitely the worst read more

Disconnected my account in June. It is always on auto draft and with electronic monthly statement. Just a week ago, Suddenlink reported me to a credit collection service. I have tried multiple time to login and check my statement but every time the statement page is always down. They never send me a paper statement to me either or contacted me. Your service is crap and your customer service is even crappier because you have zero common courtesy to your EXcustomers. So all I can say about Suddenlink is you should change and call yourself suddensink. read more

My mother and I tried to disconnect our home phone and cable about a month ago; we decided we would keep our internet service. Needless to say, as other reviews have, customer service was absolutely awful. It was immediately clear that whoever answered was nowhere near West Virginia and had no clue how to handle our call. What should have taken 5 minutes maximum took well over 20, and our issue wasn't even resolved. We ended up being charged for all three services instead of internet as well, which ended up resulting in us having to call again. Wouldn't recommend their service to ANYONE. read more

Suddenlink is the most awful company I have ever witnessed. They repeated have outages and when they do they give absolute spitball time guesses on when they will be resolved which are sometimes entire days off and it is impossible to contact this dogshit company. Unfortunately they have a monopoly on internet service in my area so we are forced to settle for their dreadful service. read more

Terrible. We moved to a new home in February. Had all services disconnected at the old home. It's July and we are still getting bills for the old address. The online account shows still active. I've called every month and they keep claiming to fix it and haven't yet. Not to mention they tried to bill us for equipment that we already returned. read more

Suddenlink brags about their blazing internet speed and then puts a cap on your data. Of course, you can pay more if you want a higher data plan. My service is spotty. Interruptions, slow service. DSL may be slower, but it was more reliable. read more

Horrible service and even worse customer service. We contacted suddenlink about a downed transmission line a mile from our home which caused service outages for the whole area. We got our bill and are being charged a service fee. My security cameras are motion detection activated and we are home due to the pandemic and there was no service truck ever on said day. Contacting the better business administration to file a complaint. I would like to send suddenlink a bill for locating their downed line which wasn't on my property. read more

Refused service. Lost two days wage waiting on these incompetents to flip a switch for cable and tv that is already been connected to a house. Don't use Suddenlink. read more

All I can say is let the consumer beware of this fraudulent corrupted company! After numerous calls to suddenlink about my (only internet service) going up to $100 to $200 every month I tried to get a cheaper plan and was told I couldn't. So then I wanted to cancel and was told I had to pay over $250.00 before they could cancel my service. This company lies and will keep raising your bill every month by adding unknown "new charges." read more

Let me start out by saying don't order your Suddenlink on line through the internet. THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC. I was assured that I could get the $79.99 package from the chat person on line. When I called the Suddenlink number and after talking to three different people for a half of an hour of my life that I will never get back I was informed that I would have to go back on line and talk to that person to try and get that package price. This I a crock of bullshit I should have know better. This company doesn't care about anything but taking your money and screwing the customer. read more

Atrocious customer service. Repeated internet issues 3x over with the exact same plan and rented router as my neighbor literally next door. They constantly blame regional connection issues meanwhile the person sharing the same apt building w me has fine connection. They blame the router stating oh those should have been checked, please return it and get a new one for free. Third time replacing rented routers from them, same issues every single time. Zero assistance from the company, hard as hell to get a hold of a real person then they do nothing but say "we'll send a technician" which never comes and then when you call back wondering where the technician is, they say an appointment was never booked. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

If I could give a lower review I would. It's impossible to contact this company via phone or chat. I have never experience anything as poor as Suddenlink. read more

1 star rating is too generous. When you use their equipment, your service is damn near perfect. When you use your own equipment, however, your service will be absolute shit. (my equipment is 1000x better than theirs, also) When you do call, and get someone on the phone, they are apparently under a rock somewhere and can barely speak English. The language barrier goes both ways, and getting what you need is damn near impossible. I have been working on an issue since March, with no resolution in sight. I had a "Suddenlink tech" show up randomly at my house last week for an appointment I did not have. This week, I got a random letter with someone else's name but my address on it about their service. Don't you have to provide proof of residency to get service? There's no way someone else could be using my address, and I have lived there more than 2 years. When I called, the guys under a rock couldn't understand what I was trying to get at. The "Suddenlink tech" also went out back of my house and messed with wires, and my internet has been even shittier than it normally is. SuddenSTINK is the worst company and it's pretty damn sad that we are forced to just take it. read more

NO STARS...DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Unfortunately I have to use their internet service, no other choice. Everyday between the hours of 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm my internet speed goes down to around 5 mbps. Two tech visit over three month period no resolution. Tried their tv cable/tivo for two weeks. Tivo mini didn't work due to installers not installing MOCA filter. Two techs followed up to fix, but charge me $60 for service call. Blame my modem which wasn't true. I'm going back to Dish Network. Cost a little more, but worth it. read more

Absolutely horrible service since being bought by alltice. They got rid of service employees and hired contract employees. My service has been out over 12 hours and you can't get a person on the phone, just a recording saying there is an interruption in your area, "goodbye". Useless company. read more

If there were 0 stars I would have selected it. Suddenlink is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have been trying to get internet service for almost a month. I've spent close to 3 hrs on the phone with them as a result of 20-50 minute wait times to speak to someone. They assure you someone will call you back but they never do. A technician has been her twice & was scheduled to be again today but they just called & cancelled. They keep telling me they have to send a "construction team" here to run a heavier line from the road to the house. A "construction team" has never came but they keep sending the installation technician. Still yet I get at least 2 junk mails every week from suddenlink begging for my business! Horrible company to deal with!!!! read more

There was already an outlet in the wall to accommodate the cable install and the dumb a** drilled a hole in my floor, even after being shown the outlet in the wall. Now my irreplaceable floors are damaged. The flooring has been discontinued. It wouldn't have been a bad thing but the tv is mounted on the wall with nothing under it covering the floor. He created damage that is right out there where everyone can see it. OMG, I'm so frustrated I could scream. read more

If you have the slightest idea of getting any services from Suddenlink run far & run fast!! If anyway possible avoid their services completely!! Their customer service is a joke!! Seriously, I had to cancel services due to the passing of a family member. I took their equipment in to the local office to turn in. They informed me that they could take the equipment but ...GET THIS...they couldn't cancel the services & that I would have to call the 800 # to cancel the services!! I called & was kept on hold for over 2 hours! In this time frame I had to speak with 2 different people because the first person couldn't handle the call. When someone did take the call they had such a thick foreign accent I had to ask the lady several times to repeat herself. If some other company with better internet/cable/phone service would come in the area they would be put out of business! Save yourself an unnecessary headache & go with another provider. The only reason I rated them one star is because this rating system won't allow no stars!! Samuel S. Charleston, WV read more
