Optimum Cablevision is now Optimum Altice. The service and price points went from horrible to the absolute worst. I am a 23 year tripe play subscriber and I will be calling Verizon Fios after I write up this review. Bottom line, after sneaking in charges over the past three months (ie modem fee, network enhancement fee, etc) I decided to call them and wrap my arms around, manage and hopefully reduce this rapidly growing monthly bill. Well, with about one hour spent, on two separate calls to their customer service, consisting 5, 6 or 7 transfers, I gave up. They have never have been good mind you; they have just hit rock bottom. Its crazy - don't they understand the cost of 'acquiring' a customer is massive as opposed to 'keeping' a customer. While I don't expect to 'save' a significant amount of money with Fios, nevertheless I will be expending the time and energy to switch over. Bye, bye Optimum; you customer service blew it big time. Demands for money after unlawfully disconnected 3 different services at 3 different times while having been paid a month in advice. Multiple no call no show on service calls I wish all of us had another choice besides the monopoly of Altice Cablevision/Optimum. Do not switch or be talked into the fiber optic service. They will disconnect your service without telling you. When you try to call for customer service they demand you to make a payment before your able to speak with anyone. We were force to pay 57.10 the first time when they were scheduling the fiber optic modem which they suggested we needed after months of complaining about our Wi-Fi service. They scheduled us for November 30 between 11:30-2. We gave them until 3:20 only to find out they Did Not have us on their schedule. They did however get someone to come out that late late afternoon to remove the cable and install the fiber optic. While he was switching the boxes from old to new , I called to ask a question before the transfer and it happened again. My service was disconnected until I was demanded to pay 81.47. No one ever had the answer as to why your forced to pay these bills. Mind you that all of their bills are paid one month in advance. So I'm paid up until December 15 but have been disconnected twice and forced to pay $ 138.57 above the over $300.00 normal monthly bill. I returned those 4 boxes immediately and waiting for a credit. Oh it gets worse. On 12/3 My husband told me that our phones were disconnected. When we called them again they tried to get another 100.00 out of us. Turns out that with fiber optic your not allowed to have more than one phone line. By the way they don't even give you notice on anything they have disconnected. They Do Not place a courtesy notice on your disconnected phone line for people to dial another number. They scheduled us for a service call today December 6th in the late afternoon before 5 pm. Twice they pulled a no call no show. This time they didn't send someone out but instead have rescheduled us for this Thursday. Time will tell. I have been a customer with the company for a few years now. it is disgusting how they run this company. on Thursday August 17th I was supposed to have fiber and cable installed. A technician showed. Only to tell me that they were waiting on a bucket truck. 30 mins later. Still no truck. The technician informed me that someone would be out within 24-72 hours. I had already taken off work for this appointment. was told I would receive a call. Never did. I waited 24 hours. Still no call. When I talked to someone online. They said there was nothing I could do but wait. I called and spoke with a rep. was told an Order was submitted and I needed to wait for a call. After 3 reps online and 6 phone called being transferred numerous times. I finally spoke with a rep today who stated haf I not kept calling I was not going to receive any call. But my monthly bill was updated to match the price of the worn being done. Even though NO WORK WAS DONE. this company is such trash. I wish I didn't have to use them but I don't have any other options for my area. If you can don't use them. I'm currently on hold as I write this review. I'm now being told I would need to take another 2 separate days off from work in order for this to be complete. And that I need to still pay my bill for service that has NOT BEEN DONE. read more

Disconnected my service account and refused any way for me to return the equipment. The store clerk told me that the equipment couldn't be returned in person and must be mailed in. 4 days later, my account was disconnected, which meant that they canceled any and all access to printing a return label and charged me over $100 for the equipment. I then spent hours on a customer service chat (as my number was blocked for call aid because my account was disconnected without any warning/notification) trying to find a way to return the equipment and was told that my only option was to drive two states away to New Jersey to return. The worst service and customer service I've ever had. I've had Comcast, Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T and truly would never have continued my service if my community had an alternative. Staff is not helpful, they will always try to charge you for a service call. They don't allow you to change your cycle date. I have been a Optimum customer for 5+ years. Service is very disappointing. I was not able to change to another provider because my building only had Optimum. The major red flag I have with this provider is that the internet is extremely unstable. Connection and speed always fluctuate, the longest period of consistency I had was 4 months. To add fuel to the fire, every time I have contact Optimum support they reported no issue is found. I have followed their instructions on rebooting the modem, rebooting the router, even went as far as renting their modem instead of purchasing one myself. To this day, with Optimum's OWN modem, they still blame it on customer's hardware. But it is not hardware issue on myside, I let the situation play out for a day or two, then the service magically goes back to normal. This led me to believe it is not my hardware problem, but Optimum's problem. I have changed absolutely nothing, yet the service just resumed to normal...? After support have told me, "Connection looks good on our side, seems like a router/modem issue"? I have my own router, but it is running default settings since it was installed. Optimum kept pushing and pushing me to use their equipment, which have to be rented monthly, not free. ON TOP OF THOSE, I have been with Optimum for 5+ years. ZERO honor for loyal customers, prices go up year after year. A new customer today will pay less than what I am paying for the same speed. They quoted me $80 to have a technician sent out. If the problem is found to be my, I will have to pay up for it. At this point, I mind as well use the $80 to pay for setup fee of another provider. I am moving out soon, and the new place have plenty of providers to choose from. I have to say, Optimum provided the worst internet service experience I have ever had. read more

I've had optimum for over 20 years ( no other options),and they are getting worse with their customer support/service. Every person you speak to, tells you something different. I put in an online order for Optimum service. Unfortunately, my 22 year old son had already tried to get service with them and could never be here when they needed to do the installation, so it never happened. Once I placed my order, I got a text and call from Optimum because there was an "issue" that needed clarification. The issue was that the order my son had was still open. After a few questions, they decided to cancel his order and go with mine. I informed them that a new cable line would need to be run from the pole because a fallen tree had taken it out a few years ago and we hadn't needed it until now. They made an appointment for a bucket truck to come today between 2 and 6. I took off half a day of work (losing $140) to sit here and wait for them. Next thing I know, my son is calling me saying he just got off the phone with an Optimum tech guy who said he was on the way to our house and he told him he didn't know if anyone was home...because my son doesn't know everything about my comings and goings, and the tech guy CANCELLED my appointment. After calling Optimum and talking to Josh, being transferred to someone in tech support, then to Manny, I was put on hold and the system hung up on me. I called back and told the whole story, for the fourth time, to someone else whose name I didn't catch, before Manny beeped in calling me back. I disconnected from them to get back with Manny who apologized profusely then put me on hold again. After 5 minute, it hung up on me AGAIN. I called back and told the story to David who transferred me to tech where I had to explain it all to Mohammed. After a "hold" where he simply put the phone down to be sure I wouldn't be disconnected again, he came back to say that there was nothing they could do but reschedule the appointment...for June 13 at 8am. If this is how Optimum works, I'm scared about future communications with them. And someone owes me $140 in lost wages. read more

I live in Cross River, NY, an area with notoriously bad cell phone reception, where many people are heavily dependent on both Optimum WiFi and phone for communication. There was an outage this morning that resulted in my fiancee missing a call for an important job interview, which is now costing her a major career opportunity. This unreliability on behalf of Optimum has absolutely devastated my family in these difficult times - It also took them nearly 3 hours to respond to the situation, and the issue returned a day later. Went to the local Optimum store to pick up a new router on Saturday. It did not work and the online technician could not get it to work. He told me I needed another router. I went back to the store and got another router. This one did not work either and the online technician could not get it to work. A service appointment was scheduled for Monday to check out or replace the router. Meanwhile, no WiFi for calling, texting, printing, speakers, etc. for the weekend. The service technician changed out the router on Monday, which worked, and came back to change the cable from the pole to the house. Monday evening we lost most of the TV channels. The online technician said we had problems with the cable boxes and would sent a service technician on Thursday. While chatting with the tech, I called Optimum Customer Service and was informed that a maintenance outage was being performed in my area. Two different stories from Customer Support. Never received any notification of an outage. The channels returned on Tuesday morning. I downloaded my latest bill on Tuesday morning and was double billed for phone service I never ordered. In fact the second charge was 3 times the normal monthly charge. I called to get it corrected. In 4 days I had 2 bad routers, lost most of the TV channels, and was billed for a phone line I did not order. WTF?? read more

I have been calling the customer service line for weeks to get in touch with someone about a reoccurring DNS issue with their modem. If you have not tried it, call their help line. They make you jump through so many hoops for tech support. And the automated prompts encourage you go online and do basic troubleshooting for 10 minutes before assessing you need a tech. Absolutely insane! Upon that, they have this neat feature where you can add a place in line for your phone call and they will call you back. I was prompted with "Due to high call volumes, we can reach back in more than 45 minutes". Below are the times I called and when they got back to me. Which btw isn't someone calling you back, It's the automated line putting you back on hold. 10am - 7:30pm 11am - 6:00pm 5:30pm - 7:30am the next day! Fun fact about that last one. The one time I managed to connect with a tech, he gave me the advice of calling in the evening since it's less volume and they are a 24/7 call center. Clearly wrong. In summation, I understand we are in troubling times but the help line is more of a deterrent from connecting with a representative and frankly a bit insulting especially paying for their high rates. read more

ATROCIOUS. I have had Optimum for less than 4 months. Every single month I have had an Internet or Cable issue where it has just gone out on me and takes days to come back up. The customer service at Optimum is BY FAR THE WORST customer service I have ever received anywhere in my entire existence. I have spent more time arguing with them over THEIR MISTAKES than I have using the service itself. They make you hold for hours. They will show up at your house for "tech visits" hours outside of what they tell you. Then guess what... YOU GET CHARGED. In addition to all of this, I signed an initial contract with them and they still charge me a different more expensive price every month. They are liars and thieves. They do not give you money back. They do not fix their issues. And they charge you for their mistakes and pretend they can't do anything about it. Cancelled services and somehow still wracked up a $500 collections balances. My services were not terminated as per my request. I was repeatedly told on my numerous subsequent phone calls to address this matter the thoroughly inaccurate balance accrued would be waived and my services terminated as it was an error on the company's behalf, but it remains untrue. Customer Service is poorly trained and Management does not follow up with resolutions for errors of their staff. I have been given a series of misinformation in feeble attempts to usher me away and garner an unauthorized and undeserved payment. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I have been trying since 4/8 to get a service technician to come b/c I lost internet and phone service. I was given 4/10 between 10-2. I was called on 4/9 the appointment was made in error and has to be rescheduled for 4/11. 4/9pm. I lost cable tv service. Called 4/9 11pm. And was told by Daniel I am now scheduled for 4/10 for service. I called 4/10 to verify that the technician will call my cell number on file in my account to send me updates on arrival. And to not call my landline that is not working and is the reason for service call. According the customer service the information was updated. I received call around 2:45 from "advanced tech support ". To see if the reset they sent fixed my issue. I told them no. The person indicated ok. Technician is scheduled to come from now until 8pm. At 545. I called and at that time was told no one was coming. After call was escalated to Walah. Supervisor is ILJ. I was told it's now 7pm. No one is coming tonight and I have been rescheduled for 4/11 from 10-8pm. I received 3 emails indicating this time stamped 7pm 4/10. I called this morning 4/11 after logging into my account and found no service appointment scheduled. Spoke with representative and he verified I do not have appointment today and to reschedule. I indicated I wanted a supervisor. He said the escalating phone call will take 48hrs THIS IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Is the service dept subcontractors?? If so. No one knows what they are doing. How can I be told different things every time I call. And appointments made are suddenly not going to happen. I'm considering switching to satellite or Fios. Optimum took over Morris Broadband in western North Carolina. My 200MB internet bill has increased 33.33% from $75 per month to $100 per month. Note - this is for internet speed which has steadily declined since Optimum took over and for decreasing reliability. My roommates and I have lived in a winter rental in the Bradley Beach, NJ area for the last 6 months and had no choice but to use Optimum, as it is the only cable/internet provider in the area. We have lived here for only 6 months, and have called Optimum's customer service more than 15 different times because of issues we were having with cable connection. We had four different cable boxes installed, had to do countless resets, and after all of this we still have not had a full month that our cable and DVR has worked. Not ONCE has anyone offered to give us a credit for the unreliable and poor service, we have also asked to speak to a manager on several occasions and were plainly told "no." I was really pissed at them so I declined a few months but then finally accepted an offer to stay for $300 which was about 8 months free. I still have not seen that credit applied to my account after almost 7 months. Terrible. Avoid if you can. No customer Services. Installation is a 4 hour window and then you need to be home 4 hours in total you will need a full working day for installation. After wasting the whole day, there is an Outage so you will get told, sorry after taking the day off from work, service will not be installed today.
