My mother's ENT doctor ordered her to have a brain MRI done. Her appointment was today at 9am. I was a little annoyed that they scheduled her appointment on the other side of the downtown area when I saw there was an office on Southside which is where we live. So instead of a 4-mile drive in traffic, it was a 12 mile drive in traffic. However, this does not take away from their 5-Star rating because it wasn't the fault of Optimal Imaging. In addition, driving in Jacksonville traffic is no where near as bad as driving in D.C. traffic! The parking area is small and when we arrived there were only three spaces available, I took one and an elderly lady took two! Lol. I'm laughing now but if it were me looking for that last parking space, I would have been livid because now I would have to find street parking. :-/ When we walked in I heard the front desk person tell someone that they were cutting down trees in the back so the parking was limited today. The lobby is very clean and they have a free coffee machine area. They have both light and bold coffee options as well as green tea pods. They even have flavored creamer. Nice! And something I don't often see in the lobby of a "medical-type" facility is a Coca-Cola frig with of course, Coke products and Dasani bottled water, all for free. They also have separate Women and Men bathroom. The front desk personnel was very friendly, professional and checked us in immediately. As soon as we finished filling out the paperwork they called my mom to the back for her MRI. read more

Very disappointing experience. My imaging request was denied twice, even though timely imaging was important for my medical care. These delays created unnecessary anxiety and concern that my health could be affected by waiting. Communication and support during the process were poor. Patients deserve clearer explanations and faster handling when health decisions are involved. read more

I get my yearly mammogram and dexa scan here and it's so quick and easy. The staff and technologists are very friendly and knowledgeable.

This is a lovely place located at the corner of Stockton and Forbes in Riverside. The building faces Forbes, but the parking is on the Stockton side. There are plenty of handicapped spaces if needed. It's bright and clean inside, and the workers are pleasant and cheerful. It is part of the very vast St. Vincent's medical complex. They received the referral from my doc, and called me to make the appointment within 24 hours. They had no problem fitting me in at my convenience. I arrived a few minutes early and check in was a breeze. A few moments later, I was called back. A couple of quick questions and then the dressing room and the actual test. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Compared to the last mammogram I had at another (unrelated) place, this was like a walk in the park. Very nice place. Check in was quick and prompt. Explained everything to me in detail. Free coffee, chips, and soda were offered in the lobby for those of us who had to fast before our appointment. The couch was very nice and plush and the other chairs looked comfy as well. My only complaint is that there were no changing tables in the ladies room since I came there with my father in law and baby. I had a CT done there. I didn't know I had to drink a solution before hand but it was extremely sweet. Also had a vein blown since I have deep veins and they're very hard to get to so I have a nice bruise on my right arm. The CT tech wasn't able to get it but the MRI tech was. They were both really nice. I usually become a human pin cushion sometimes because of that. Definitely a nice place and nice staff though. read more

I can't speak more highly of the staff at Optimal Imaging. They made my entire experience comfortable from the start. I had never had any imaging done before and, without delving into all of the details, I was nervous and a little on edge about the entire thing. The two nurses who took me back comforted and reassured me that we were going to figure everything out that very day. One of those nurses went on to do my scan and was very professional throughout the process. On top of that, the radiologist, Dr. Diaz, reviewed my scans immediately afterwards, eliminating any anxious wait time. She then went over everything with me. Dr. Diaz is kind, thorough, and exudes a gentle bedside manner. I would not hesitate to return to Optimal Imaging in Riverside for any future diagnostic imaging needs. read more

Two days before my MRI appt, I was called to say they "may"cancel my appt because my ins hadn't authorized it yet. I asked, "why was this appt scheduled before authorization?" The answer: 'well, most ins companies only take 2 days to approve but YOUR ins hasn't yet". WRONG! That isn't true! (I work in a dr's office, I know how this works!) They ended up telling me that they wouldn't cancel it unless it didn't get approved. On a wing & a prayer, I drove the hour drive to their facility to get the MRI. (I couldn't reach them all day to confirm if they got the authorization because their "system was down" -- right!) They did end up getting auth and doing the MRI. Fast forward, I show up to the ordering provider's to discuss the results and Optimal never bothered sending the results to my dr! What's the point of a test if they aren't going to send the results to the dr? If I could grade them a -100 I would! I will never go back!!! read more

My mother had a echo and we went for follow up at the primary office, the results were not there so the nurse called and was told they were not ready! From 3 weeks prior? what? so I called and got the ruddiest girl and asked if the echo could be sent over and she huffed and puffed and ask my mother's name and very Rudley and, in a hurry, said she would fax it and I ask her if she was sure..(and was going to tell her that dr's office was told it was not ready).....I was told "I know how to do my job" and HUNG up on me. Sorry lady, I have worked in a surgeons office for 17 years and we never not once spoke to patients like that. You have no idea what people are going through and the Dr just wanted the results to go over with the patient for which we were waiting on. The Primary dr also called this facility director regarding the issues they have been having. I will never chose to go here again! I use to always go here but this was the last time because of the front desk girl who has no compassion to be in the medical field.!!!!! read more

My husband went in for a CT. The staff was very nice and the appt time efficient. Patients were moved in and out it seemed fairly quickly. The office was very clean and well maintained. Parking was easy. They were kind when asked to fax over the results to another doctor. We were pleased w this office! read more

Getting ONE MRI is hell, getting THREE at one time is BRUTAL! The staff, in person was nice as could be....but, to get them on the phone (roll eyes)...every single time I called, the phone would ring 20 or 30 (or more) times (I lost count several times). When someone would FINALLY answer the phone, they were choleric, defensive, argumentative and oppositional. That person had decided before s/he even answered the phone that *my call* was an **interruption to his/her busy day** and decided not to assist the caller in any way...and she succeeded. Optimal Imaging needs only one or two just like her, and they won't have to worry about any Yelp Reviews, they won't have a business to review. read more

I had an appointment at Optimal Imaging at the Riverside location for 9:15am. They asked me to arrive a few minutes early to fill out some paperwork. I arrived at 9am. I completed my paperwork and signed the electronic pad as requested. At 9:50am, I walked up to the reception desk because my appointment was at 9:15am. I was told that "he" would be with me in another 20 minutes that "he" had some problems with the patient he had on the table. I had already been there 50 minutes. It was already 35 minutes past my appointment time. They wanted me to wait another 20 minutes. I said "Nope. I'm leaving!" I walked out the door. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from Optimal Imaging! read more

Had an appointment that was scheduled 3 weeks out, day of appointment while at work received a call an hour and a half before scheduled appointment wanting me to drop everything and come in early so they could go home early that day. Absolutely rude and unacceptable. Will go someplace else that displays more respect to their customers and values their time. Absolutely pathetic business read more

Wait time was 20 mins or less. Very professional and courteous staff with excellent beside manners. Prices are reasonable even if your paying out of pocket. I'll be returning for all my medical imaging needs and referring friends and family. read more

Experienced similar problems others have reported. MRI report was to go to doctor in 48 hrs per tech. One week later I called my Dr to see if report had been rec'd and it had not. I called Optimal and they said it had been sent. Several more days passed with...we sent it...we did not receive it and me hurting even more from stress. Two weeks after MRI I called center and told them I was on my way to pick up a copy of the report to take to my Doctor. I was told "We don't give copies of the report until patient has met with their Doctor and reviewed the report. I know this is a dumb question but how is that supposed to happen if the report is neither sent nor received? I told her I was on my way and please have a copy ready for me to pick up. In route my doctors nurse called and said they had just rec'd a copy via fax. I continued to Optimal and left there with a copy of the report just as a back up!! Unless I had no other choice I want be back to this facility for test. That is too bad because I really like the techs and other staff members. read more

Today, and this will probably sound crazy, I had the best MRI ever! Tara, the Radiologist did an amazing job! She put me at ease. Without me having to ask for certain things, it was as if she read my mind: started an IV with me sitting in a chair vs. laying down. She was very patient and kind. The MRI machine that was used was a mix of a warm color and white vs. just white and feeling sterile and cold and scary. The color of the machine really does make a difference I think. The week prior, I was nervous about doing a closed MRI and ended up leaving a different office because of anxiety. I was prescribed a sedative to get through today but I decided not to take it. The way the radiologist put me at ease made me glad I didn't take the sedative. If you need a closed MRI, please go to this location and ask for Tara specifically. read more

I have only wonderful things to say about the staff at Optimal Clay, particularly Kim; who went above and beyond in assisting my sister with her first MRI. This experience was expected to be a high stress event as my sister had heard every horror story possible regarding her upcoming MRI. However, Kim was so kind and explained things to us in detail, helping to give my sister some peace of mind that she had not had until that moment. They were so slow to send the info to our insurance for approval of a MRI... 48 hours slow!!! However when we went to the location, it was nice. When we were leaving, we were told they would send the MRI results over that afternoon. We also called later that day to confirm they were sending the results over & we were told the MRI results were already sent over to our dr's office, that was a Friday. That was a LIE! On Monday, I talked to the dr & there is nothing in my husband's file. We were also told by our Dr. she knew that wasn't true because they take a couple of days to send over the results. We will NOT be returning to Optimal Imaging & I would not recommend them!! read more

On a Friday morning my wife needed a CT scan done on very short notice (same day) because of an out of town medical appointment (Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC) the following Monday for which we needed a new scan to take with us. The terrific staff at Cancer Specialists of North Florida spent Thursday getting the insurance authorization and called Optimal Friday morning as soon as they got the authorization and they were able to squeeze us in that same afternoon. Because we were being squeezed in naturally we had to wait some, but for making us wait (which we considered all our own fault not theirs), they gave us a gift card to Starbucks! I have never had any doctor offer me a gift card for having to wait! Everyone there was so nice and kind and considerate. We requested and they produced a computer disk with the CT scan and gave it to us when we left so we were able to hand carry it to Georgetown for the specialist there. Then before getting on the plane the following Monday, I called them back and asked if the radiologist had done his report on the scan yet, not expecting it to have been done, because the scan was not done until almost 6 p.m. Friday, but when I called at 10:30 a.m. Monday they already had the report and immediately faxed it up to Washington and our doctor there. Bottom line, you could not want a more service oriented imaging facility, period. (That being said, we have had prior scans and radiation treatment done at Ackerman Cancer Center in Mandarin and they too are very patient oriented and very helpful and kind - I highly recommend Ackerman Cancer Center as well). read more

My problem with Riverside was the administrative staff. First, I am covered with "Well Woman" insurance through my insurance plan, as long as I go to an outpatient facility, not connected with a hospital. I called and was told this was a separate building in a house not part of a hospital. And it is called "Optimal Imaging - Riverside". I didn't see any connection to St. Vincent's Hospital in that description of this facility. Until now, when I received the bill. Do you think someone there should have know where the billing takes place and who owns the Riverside facility? Second, I signed to have my previous mammogram sent to Riverside. It was sent and then they lost it. I was told to have another mammogram. It was a good thing I didn't. I called my previous facility and asked them to send it again, Riverside wouldn't do that. So they sent it and then forgot about me and couldn't get the Doctor to review it again when they finally had it. Weeks went by while I was nervous that there was something wrong because they wanted me to have another mammogram. Finally, they said they had to "catch the Dr." and he said it was negative. I was finally notified and also received a bill which was unnecessary if I was told the right information from the start and just didn't go there. A Hassle and a Bill, never again. read more
