Had an appointment at 12. An hour later doctor never even showed up to the location. Staff totally unaware and unconcerned.

I have both health insurance and Humana exam and materials vision insurance. My exam today was an annual exam to get prescription updates for both glasses and contacts. This is covered with a $10 copay with my vision insurance. I did agree for "additional" tests which I was told would be scheduled a few months later which would require the use of my health insurance at that time. However when I left my visit, without having the "additional testing" which I was told would cost $65.00 at a later date, I was presented with a $127 copay, and they used my health insurance instead of vision insurance. I didn't purchase contacts/glasses- and did NOT agree to any additional testing other than what I was told would be scheduled at a later date. Quinn eye center office mgt. chose to use my health insurance instead of my vision insurance adding one item (which I had NOT previously agreed to not been informed of cost) claiming they were "saving" me money. When I attempted to resolve this issue, speaking with both Christine and John Michael, I received 2 different rationales for this cost. I cannot recommend an eye doctor who charges a $127 copay for annual eye exam when the patient has vision insurance that would cover these items with only a $10.00 copay. After appointment, I called my Humana vision insurance representative who indeed told me that both contact and eyeglass prescriptions are included in their annual eye exam with only a $10 copay. It is very sad because we have been loyal patients for years. I CANNOT in good conscience recommend them any more.

My daughter kept having recurring pink eye. The urgent cares would prescribe medicine for bacterial pink eye. Dr. Monahan found she had viral pink eye and that was why it would get better then come back. She prescribed us a different medication and it cleared up. I couldn't get my daughter back for her follow up and it was a few weeks after when I was supposed to take her there. The lady that answers the phone told me I would have to pay for another appointment because of the delay in getting her back for the follow up. Dr. Monahan did the eye exam, told me my daughters eye was 95% healed. She prescribed us some more of the medication that got her eye healed to have on hand if it flares up again and to put 1 drop in for the next 2 weeks. After the exam she walked us out, she saw me going over to pay for the appointment and told me that I didn't have to pay because it was a follow up (which wasn't what the phone lady told me). She is so kind. I am completely blown away by the whole operation! I was paying $150-200 for at the Urgent Care places to get medication and they weren't even treating the right problem. Dr. Monahan was $68 for the appointment, the follow up and a new prescription to have on hand if I needed it. Nothing I can say will express the level at which I recommend Dr. Monahan especially if you have a young child. I give her a 11/10!

UPDATE: again they respond with send us an email well I have done that twice now...... with no result On December 19th, 2025 I went to your store at 3581 southwest archer rd in Gainesville Fl. I was seen by Dr.S. Fernandez O.D. I explained to the doctor that this was an annual exam but I was being seen by the ophthalmologist in 3 weeks to evaluate if my cataracts are at the point of needing surgery. She never commented on my cataracts and proceeded to do the exam and prescribe glasses. Well the glasses did not improve my vision at all. I went to the ophthalmologist and I need cataract surgery. I now have two pair of glasses that are totally useless and am out of pocket $218.93. I am extremely upset and feel taken advantage of. She should have said wait until i see the other doctor. She should have known that glasses would not correct for bilateral cataracts. I have contacted via email the home office and received an auto reply but have NEVER heard from them again.

I go there; wait 25 minutes or so for him to get done with his customer and he began trying to blow me off to another sales rep ( and I quickly found out why ). Then he finally did get another rep to have to tell me that they don't sell Trivex lenses. It's just bad business. Chase wasted about 90 minutes of my time and a fair amount of gas money for him to not know what he sells. Maybe he didn't care and thought they could sell me over to another lense type which is what the other rep did. It's sad when people care so little as not to be truthful about their products.

Because in my experience, anti-glare coating seems to come off and cloud them up, I requested that…read moreno coatings be put on my new lenses. My lenses started to deteriorate almost immediately after walking out of their shop. A few months later, after they had gotten to a point were they were just getting unusable, I came back to UO to see what could be done about this. I was basically told there was nothing they could do and, ha ha, if I actually HAD gotten the anti-glare coating, they would have been covered by a warrantee. So there was no "warrantee" for the lenses in general?!! I guess that's tough luck for me. Awesome... This place sucks.

On November 22, 2022, I placed an order for prescription glasses with the University Opticians,…read moreInc. Gainesville, Florida. After the paperwork was done and $209 paid, I advised an optician, Mr. Fredrik Wood that I wished my new glasses lenses would be the same high quality as my old ones, from New York. On these words, Mr. Wood requested to borrow my old glasses to be sent for a pattern reference along with the order to a lab that will work with the order. For unknown reasons, it took them the whole month to complete the order. On arrival at the University Opticians office, to my dismay, I discovered that there were no more of my old glasses in existence: its 8-year-old dilapidated frame was used to install new lenses, and high-quality old lenses had been discarded by Mr Wood. On all my perplexed questions, he just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled. The new product was incapable of being worn by kept slipping down my nose. That's not all: if the right lens was hardly acceptable, the left lens seemed to be out of visual focus at all. I demonstrated to Mr. Wood that I can read smaller letters with my left naked eye than with new glasses. Yet on my request to reorder the lens, Mr. Wood continued going on that something is wrong with my left eye, or my prescription that I brought in was not accurate: "You need to see Doctor Barber. He has worked for me for 12 years. It's right here in the office." Now, as a side note, I am a 78-year-old man, not good at proving my point, easily losing train of thought, and gullible enough to follow deceiving recommendations. At that point, I said: "OK, let's get to the bottom of it". So on December 26th, I paid another $69 to Mr. Wood for seeing the doctor. At the beginning of the eye exam session, on my request to check my vision with the new glasses, Dr. Barber kind of ignored my request, and changed the subject by replying with some medical terms of which I don't have any knowledge. He proceeded with dilating the eye pupils. My vision got blurry, so it wouldn't make much sense to repeat my request. He examined the retina and told me that the prescription I brought in was correct, and he couldn't FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY LEFT EYE. Though eventually, he made vague references to some other clinics where I could check my eyes, "just in case." Afterward, I think, the first thing Dr. Barber was supposed to do was to check my vision with the new glasses on, but he didn't. Once again, I see with my naked left eye better than with these new glasses on. My guess is, that Mr. Wood had instructed Dr. Barber not to involve the glasses in the problem and to send me to some other clinic so that they would buy some time and get rid of the annoying customer. After the exam, on my request to correct the situation by reordering glasses with a new frame and the correct left lens, Mr. Wood produced a slip of paper with some clinic phone numbers suggesting that I must first to head over there to check my retina. Secondly, on my return from the clinic, I must pay for the recorder. At this point, it occurred to me, that these people don't wish me any good. As a result of it all, a heated argument developed that wound up with Mr. Wood bluntly saying to me "Get the f**k out of here." To sum up the whole ordeal, I believe, Mr. Wood committed fraud by covertly installing new lenses in the worn-out frame and discarding high-quality lenses. All in all, I feel, I have been taken advantage of by dishonest people. The place doesn't have any connection with the University of Florida Eye Clinic, they just exploit the name. Joseph Zacharow.
