Review is based from the outside, i didn't do the test but my mother did. She was told by Humana that they take her insurance with full power. Do they? No they don't. If you got an elderly sent here? Its better to shop around. I still gave them a 3.5 to 4. They were super busy but the visit wasn't too long. The staff were respectful. After the test we found out the insurance only covers the test. She chose to keep her own frames and even with that? They charged her $350+ for just the lens's. Thats crazy! Which means if u add a frame it will all be like 600+. Two weeks later we picked up the glasses. She doesn't listen to me when i tell her to just do the test n order online. I got 1 pair of 200+ n every other pair i paid $14.95 online. They are the same things just one is for the wows the other is for the sport related shenanigans. For the test it's ok. Get an estimate and just shop around. read more

Been going there for 5yrs for diabetic annual exam. I have a Medicare advantage insurance. Usually not thrilled and ended up with glasses I don't wear. This appt 7/22 was the worst. Made a 2pm appt 2wks in advance. Arrived at 1:40. Crowded. No seats available. Filed out many forms. Wanted digital exam-no dilation, no air pulse. Called back to room exam. Was dirty. Waste on table with machine. I requested it being cleaned before exam. She looked put out. Rinsed her hands with water. Then took a paper towel she had dried her hands with and wiped machine and removed trash. I told her I wanted to talk to Dr before I signed for digital exam. Read the consent it said cost was $24.99 to be paid for before exam. Stated cost "may be reimbursed by insurance". I paid the $24.99. I have the receipt. Insurance said they never heard of that so no reimbursement. Went to see Dr Handy. We had a pleasant conversation about my health issues. I am type 2 diabetic & have Graves disease thyroid condition for about 45 yrs. It was determined I have the beginning of diabetic retinopathy. When I was meeting with customer rep. She started handing my papers to sign. I refused to sign a couple that I was told they were Hippa forms. As I glanced I noticed consent to "share" my info for marketing. I refused and verbally said I did not consent my info to be shared for marketing. Rep had to check with supervisor. Supervisor said I didn't need to sign but they wouldn't be able to share my report with my Dr. That's not true. Then as I read report of exam I noticed it was checked as having "Type1 diabetes- I am type2. I requested a correction. Rep. left to talk with Dr. Came back saying that type1 would be fine. Coded as E103.21. No correction. Also stated my eyes were dilated. Coded as 2022F. They were not. So this misinformation worries me as this will be in my medical record. NOT OK. I called my insurance and relayed these errors for the notes. I was eligible for $400 glasses. I didn't need another pair of glasses. I'm hoping they don't enter another purchase. I will not go back to your stores. I was in this store for over 2 1/2 hrs. read more

I personally really enjoyed this place. I know there are a ton of bad reviews, but I really didn't have a choice since this was the closest location to me that takes Medicaid. There was a bit of a waiting time and some unprofessionalism, but people are flawed and I gave the benefit of the doubt. I thought everyone was really nice, the doctor and the receptionists. Not overly nice, but kind. I got my contact and glasses were ready in a few days. Good experience overall and some waiting time. I'll grab a book next time- lol. read more

This place is the worst, the doctor completely messed up my prescription, the contact lenses she recommended were garbage, they tried to make me wait over a week to check and see what the problem was, after going through the aggravation she finally agreed to see me, mind you I could not see at all, she then gave me another set of bad contact lenses, finally I had to come back yet again to bring my old prescription, I was supposed to drop it off only, yet they had me wait in the lobby, I put my name down on their list, while I was waiting in the lobby someone crossed out my name off the list, another patient told me to check with the receptionist because they had started another page and I was never called! Courtney, who works at the desk and sells you glasses and just about anything you don't need, is by far the most obnoxious, unprofessional, dimwitted person I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I had to file a complaint with the FL Dept of Agriculture against her because of her egregious unethical practices. Also my insurance company contacted her (I was on the 3 way call and Courtney was not aware of this) and when my insurance rep mentioned my name & Courtney looked up my info, Courtney immediately began laughing at the insurance rep. in a degrading and demeaning manner. My insurance filed a grievance against her as well. There are so many good people who want to work helping clients, yet this office allows an undeserving employee like Courtney to work there and mistreat the patients. Scam of a business do not go! I went in with a Tricare referral and they tried charging me $99.99 for an appointment that was specifically for contact lenses. They never once mentioned the cost for contact fitting at all. Mind you they were the ones that contacted me to schedule this appointment. They refused to give me the prescription to contact lenses and only gave me one for glasses which I did not go for. When I asked to speak to someone they said I wasn't the only military member that has had this problem. So apparently it's an ongoing issue with this place. read more

They didn't have frames I liked but I eventually decided to settle on a pair. The exact cost they came up with for my glasses was $550. I just said forget it and left. Unfortunately they are one of the few places that take my 20/20 I-care insurance. Went to the Bloomingdale office in Brandon and they charged me $650 for glasses, $100 out of my pocket. $650 for a pair of glasses... Absolute Crooks !!! read more

Complete incompetence...I ordered and paid for my glasses on June 3, they never arrived, when I call the Bradenton store it just rings, finally somebody picked up today that had a baby crying in background and said she had been off for 12 weeks with a broken neck....nobody seems to know where my glasses went and I cant get any answers. I came in for the second time to fit trial lenses which I called to have them changed one week prior....when I got there they still Wernt changed and I called back twice to do so before the appt the optical MGR never called me back and then they made me wait again to ask me which brand I wanted when they were supposed to already have this information . Dr is horrible!! Not personable and goes thru the motions.. very monotone. And asked me the same questions whe I answered them when I previously was in the room 5 min before. My previous provider was not with my insurance, so I chose Optical Outlets. Very bad decision on my part. My frames had broken at an arm; no way to reattach it. Optical Outlets had purple frames - Yay! My exam was done a bit differently, as I am in a wheelchair. So I ordered my glasses and waited. This was June 2021. On December 6, my new frames fractured. I called my insurance company, and they contacted OO. I was told there was a 30-day warrantee, but the manager would contact me. Unsurprisingly, she didn't. So I'm stuck with my old glasses, balanced on my nose and one ear until my benefits roll at the end of the year. I haven't been out playing roller derby or soccer. Stay away!! read more

They made me another appt with dr. They remade glasses. Still not right. They tried to make 3 Rd Dr. appt. Couple days later called spoke with manager named Courtney. I told her I was not satisfied with glasses and she told me to bring them in to get refund. I did that today. I have never been treated so badly. She made me feel like I was beneath her. That she was better than me. It took from March to June to get this straightened out. Never going back and telling my family and friends to stay away from there. Poor customer service. read more

I definitely do not recommend Optical Outlets. Not just this specific location but the company as a whole. I feel like they make things more difficult than they need to be. From seeing a different doctor each appointment, to speaking with someone over the phone and scheduling an appointment for my son and I together only to arrive and them split us up and wait two extra hours. When I call the 800 number to reorder my contacts sometimes you get a call center and sometimes you get an actual location where they sometimes will or will not place your order. Also, with the exception of a couple of staff members they are pretty rude when being asked questions. I placed my last order with them online (which I was told in the office I couldn't do) and I've changed doctors since. read more

I had to go and get that annual eye exam again and decided to try another shop due to my difficulties, and quite frankly the overpricing of Studio Eyes. As you read this review you may think that I am crazy for giving them 5-stars, but please read the entire review before passing judgment. I called to make my appointment, that was a little problematic because I called on a Saturday and the place was apparently swamped. I had to wait a few minutes on the phone, but after I was able to schedule they were ultra-apologetic for the wait. I went in for my appointment and did the customary 15 minute early to arrive to fill out paperwork and etc. There was a lady who was waiting ahead of me who went in ahead of me for her exam. My appointment wound up being about a hour behind. I was initially upset, but later on I was rewarded for my patience. When I saw Dr. Russell at Studio Eyes I generally felt a little rushed by the process because he is a busy person in his shop, some people like the process, but when you are dealing with your vision it is better to take things slow and thorough. When I went into my exam and started the tests Dr. Alvarez immediately stopped the exam and began to ask me question about having double vision. I stated that yes at a distance, but my glasses sometimes worked and sometimes don't, he understood immediately that I had something else wrong with my eyesight that glasses were not a answer for. He finished the exam and my eyes wound up being 20/20 and I in fact did not need glasses (I would like to take the time to thank Dr. Russell for selling me 800 worth of useless junk). But at the same time Dr. Alvarez told me to see a ophthalmologist because of the potential seriousness of the issue. If I would have gone back to Studio Eyes I would not have gotten anything like this. While it took longer for my exam, but it was well worth it, also looking at the quality of care, glasses, courtesy and price I would definitely go back here for my family's eye care needs (credit for going here belongs to my wife). Also the price of my wife's new glasses and upgrading the lenses in her current pair were about half the price of the glasses we purchased from Studio Eyes. If you want quality and "bang for the buck" this is the place to shop. read more

Changing optometrists is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my 72 years on this earth! The main difference in the quality of my life is now I can see and I am no longer afraid to drive. Beginning with Jennifer at Optical Outlets' call center, it's been a outstanding experience. She made it easy peasy. So today,as I walked in the door, Esmaurelda, (sp?)--who serves double duty as the receptionist and the pre-tester--welcomed me. As time went on, she set the stage by--clearly conveying she cared for me as an individual and didn't regard me as (yawn) just-another-customer. And guess what, the best was yet to come....enter Dr. Merryl Koplo...(drum roll, please) Dr. Koplo too demonstrated her interest in me as an individual and magically created rapport within nanoseconds and then went on to--bestill my heart--restore my vision so I can confidently drive again. After weaving her magic. Dr. Koplo handed me off to Ebony, who was so "tuned in" and so much fun! Highly recommend!!! I CAN SEE AGAIN!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!! I bow to Dr. Koplo! read more

Until this year I went to The Eye Doctor on 60, and when I called their number to make my annual appointment, I had no idea their business had closed and that all patients on file had been transferred over to Optical Outlets. In calling them, Optical Outlets also did not inform me. When I realized my appointment was at a different location and arrived, not only did they have my name wrong in their system, but they had me registered as 14 years old when I am 31. Even after correcting them, they called me by the wrong name. I went with one of the associates to have the glaucoma test administered, and she got noticeably get upset with me when I had a hard time opening my eyes wide enough for the test (I have small eyes, whatcha gonna do), but she didn't warn me that there would be a puff of air, so I was startled when that happened. When I was finally able to see the doctor and be examined, I was told my sight had gotten better but my astigmatism had gotten worse. I've never heard of this happening before but always assume the professional knows what they're talking about. The doctor recommended I purchase a set of the normal soft contacts in the new prescription as well as Toric lenses. When she got me a sample pair of the Toric, she tried to put the lens in my eye herself when, clearly, I wear and know how to put in my own contacts. I was only able to afford the exam and one pair of contacts out of pocket that day, so I opted for the pair I was used to and figured I would try out the sample Toric. I wasn't sure exactly which type of lenses I needed to order, but the associate running my card assured me I could just call in the next morning and change my order. Wearing the Toric lenses out felt like seeing the world through fun house mirrors, which doesn't seem right. When I called up the office the next morning, they told me I, in fact, could not change my order and would have to wait till they came in to send them back. The lenses arrived right before the office closed due to COVID, and because the prescription is off, I can't see well enough with them to use them. TL; DR, I am majorly disappointed with my service here and how misinformed everyone seems to be and will be going to a different doctor to have my new lenses corrected. read more

The people they have working at this place SUCK when it comes to customer service, no empathy, no solution, nothing!!!!!! I went in to get my eyes exam, that went great, this was on 2/28/2019, per the lady who attended me, I would have gotten my glasses with-in 5-10 business days, it is now 3/20/2019 and still no glasses. Mind you, I was at no time told that because of the insurance I have, Optical will NOT be able to send my script to to their lab, it will have to be a lab that my insurances uses, fine, understandable! The first time I called which was the 5th day the lady was rude, very rude, stated that I would get a call when the glasses are in, cool, let it slide, no mention about other insurance lab, second time I called, another lady picked up, and she was giving me the same song and dance about getting a call when they come in, I explained to her that this was the 10th day, she explained the insurance BS, I understood, let it pass, now I wait 14 business dayS and I call back, my glasses are processing they tell me, then she says to hold on and no one got back to the phone, I was on hold for so long that the call disconnected. At this point I wanted to go in to the Optical in person, but nope, I wait, I call today and the same rude person picks up and I am explaining to her that It's going to be a month and still no glasses, she has no solution, nothing, then I ask to get the number to the lab to see what is so special about my glasses, because this has never happened, I always get my glasses by the 7th da, tops, with my insurance. After all this time she says she will call the lab and see why its taking so long, duh, you think they would call the client after the 10th day and as a courtesy explain to the client why they have not received their glasses!!!!!!! Needless to say that I will not ever be going here again, I will stick to going to my Fowler location where they know me and treat me correct!!!!! I wish I could give them no stars!!!!! read more

My experience with Business was absolutely unprofessional, humiliating, and a tremendous health risk. I was a new client and I was asked to come early to fill out paperwork. I got there 15 min ahead time, and as I walked in the lovely receptionist (Brianna) locked the door and explain to other clients trying to come in that they hit max capacity due to Covid-19. I offered to sit in my car until my appt. time. After being called to come in 20 min after original my appt. time I noticed that the waiting room was still packed and there was no 6ft distancing. I gave up my sit a number of times to sit children and parents. While standing, waiting to be seen I noticed staff was not washing glass after client tried them on, and not one employee washed their hands in between helping clients. This is not even the best part. After I was seen for my contacts and was waiting to check out there was a misunderstanding with my insurance and an unexpected fee arose. This was not the issue. I asked to speak the manger(Courtney) in private to make sure I was understanding the fee and to make her aware of what I noticed during my appt. Mrs. Courtney proceeded to get loud me with and told me " I'm the manager do you want my help or not". A wave of emotions came over me still holding it together she to walked into a fully packed waiting room and explained that I would have to pay my fee (Again not the problem). After offering to go home and call with my CC info, Mrs. Courtney said sharply "That's fine, but you will need to take out those tester contacts. Cause my doctors to have to get paid somehow." (Remember we are in the middle of the waiting room.) I excuse myself to the restroom and remove the tester contacts. After coming back, the manager collects them and explains once I pay my fee I can come back and get them. I explained that I might not be able to do that due to me having two young boys and my babysitter had to go. She looked at me Stated, "You're not understand just come with them in the car and hop out and come in and pick them up." I had other clients telling me to have a blessed day due to the energy in the waiting room. Once I got home I still went through with my order of contacts, then I was told the Original contact I tried on were not covered by insurance but the order had been placed, and the tester for those contact had to be ordered. My contacts have been sitting since 7/13/2020. I had to call yesterday to see if my tester came in, and again with the rudeness. I was on hold for 10 minutes for her to get on the phone and say " oh yea there here". 1. No regard for client's time. 2. Inconsistency in health practices 3. Manger Mrs. Courtney. I received a phone call and email 10 days later that my glasses were ready for pick up. Was promptly taken care of as I returned the next day for picking up my new glasses. Our first visit I brought my son and the my other kids ended up being out of school for a hurricane day, so I had to bring all my kids. I recently was a customer of the Brandon Mall location. I read the reviews and was reluctant to go there but my insurance co. had referred me there and called and made the appointment. The receptionist was very nice. I did wait about a 1/2 hr to be seen the first time but there were people there before me. The doctor was very nice and answered my questions. While I was there they looked around to see who had been there a while. I did wait a little while for 2nd time but it was no longer than any other eye company or doctors visit. I picked out my frames and was seen within a few minutes. I was called within a week that they were ready. I went in and got my glasses and out within 10 minutes. Granted the office wasn't very busy but I was pleased. I love my glasses. Thank you very much. read more

Made an appt yesterday before coverage is up for 2018. They assured me my insurance would cover my eye exam. I was thankful they had availability only to be dismayed after cutting my vacation short and driving 2 hours home to find out once I get to their office that I didn't have coverage and that I only have eyeglasses coverage and that they don't take my other insurance. Now I'm really out of time and can't find another appt by 12/31. Very frustrating!!! read more

I am very disappointed with this company. The staff...first rate, but I am not sure I care for the doctors. I was rushed, and when I could not see clearly in the exam it was clear it was irritating the physician who was performing the exam. I am sure it was due to the crowd in the waiting room. Anyway, I am returning my glasses two weeks after getting them because they are not right. Not even remotely close. went to the zephyrhills location, this place was a joke, same thing but there were at least 30 people in there and only 1 eye exam guy, it was a circus it seems like all low income people, my exam was comical, i have been wearing contacts for 20 years so i know how an exam is suppose to go, he never called me back in after fitting me with some new lenses, he needed to check fit and have me read some charts, nothing and he lowered the strength in both eyes, he screwed up bad, long story short i walked out while i was cashing out plus they had a problem with insurance of course, there are to many details to list here just stay away from this place go to perrich or opti-mart, also the floor was filthy dirty read more

Sometimes you cant rely 100% on the experiences of others to make a decision. This Optical Outlet on 883 E. Bloomingdale Ave, have some bad reviews. However, my experience was quite the opposite from most of the reviews. Maybe it's the time of day I went. Dont know. I went there to get my Rx for glasses filled last Tuesday, around 1:00pm. I had no appt. and was seen in 10 mins. Esmeralda was very polite and very helpful. She was patient with me. I go back in a week for glasses pic-up. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! had an appointment today and while I was treated ok by the young girls in the front. The Doctor was so unprofessional. First, he had my name wrong! When I looked and asked him if he was calling me? He had this look of, "yes dumbass" then he said, "well this is what they have down" so while I was waiting, I was looking at the frames which I may say, are awful!!! I wear my glasses full time so, I prefer a nice high end frame. When asked if I do not find anything I like will my insurance cover if I order frames online if he'd provide me with a prescription. So, the young lady explained to me that it would not be covered by my insurance, at that point I apologized and said that I have insurance and therfore would not have my examination done. Well, dr. Eric heaps through my file and said "thanks for wasting my time" so unprofessional. Would not have him touch me nor would I refer anyone to this place, the girls are very nice but are young and have no professionalism. I'm giving one star because there is no option for rate lower than that. I had great service two years ago when they were at a different location. I just got headaches and bad experience since they moved to this new location. It took me three attempts to finally get my eye test completed. First time, whoever scheduled my appointment didn't include my insurance information. When I arrived to the appointment they have me registered as "out of pocket" customer. I didn't have my insurance information at hands (since I had offered it at the time of scheduling), so I ended up leaving. Second time, they canceled my appointment and didn't even call me. Third time, I waited for two hours before being help, even though I had an appointment. Without performing a test, Dr Morrison decided to increase my reading prescription. When questioned, she simply replied, "trust me! I've been doing this long enough to know. When your previous doctor was graduating from medicine school, I was already teaching." Awful service, just awful and terrible. Please don't trust your vision to people who don't even test you!! Crazy! read more

The doctor was fantastic - I have 3 different prescriptions and they are all perfect! The retail part was the complete opposite! It was the worst I've ever experienced! I ordered 2 pair of bifocals with different prescriptions in each. Their lab just could not get it right. My initial order was submitted on January 2nd, and I just had my final visit to the location today. I will give credit to Ebony, she did everything she could to correct the mistakes that were being made. When I finally got fed up enough to demand a refund, she let me know that I would have to return the merchandise purchased, and I needed the glasses, I was not willing to start over somewhere else. She did offer a 3rd pair free, and that is what I collected today (by the way, I waited almost 3 weeks for this pair, since Ebony went on vacation and no one else from the location called me to tell me they had arrived). While I appreciate the free pair, it's not really free when I consider the time and energy I spent on multiple phone calls (and hold times) and the multiple visits I made to the location, where I waited my turn just to find out they were done wrong again. If I ever step foot in that location again, it will be only to visit the optician and take the prescription to another eyeglass store that knows what they're doing! read more

They do not return phone calls, and blatantly lie to their customers. They are extremely disorganized and rude.
