I have been a customer for over 12 years at the Riverview office, My experience was not the best this last time . I have to say Lisa is not a profession person and you do not get the help that is needed , you are on your own, because of that I went to the Valrico Branch, as soon as we walked in we were approached by a lady by the name of Carol, she has a smile that tells you , you are at the right place. Carol made you feel welcome and comfortable. She has such a pleasant demeanor great personality, she assisted me with the right fitting of the glasses that suited my face perfectly , she works within my budget and at the same time we had great conversation. I cannot help but say Carol is sweet and very professional. Sun Hill should be very happy to have her representing their company. I lived in Riverview and did not regret driving to Valrico. went for an eye exam at the store in riverview, and lady with curly hair was extremely rude and hostile.

Terrible experience. The doc didn't care if he got the prescription correct. Told the person he saw on the day previously that he switched her contacts and didn't apologize or think that her inconvenience of coming back in was important. Told her to go outside to test her contacts vs testing her with his equipment. The goal of the eye tech was to "not to make a mistake" while they talked amongst themselves in front of customers. Also, the tonopen the doc was using "usually doesn't work" so what am I paying for??? Lame! Not a high tech exam. Virtually my eye sight hasn't changed. Do NOT go here if you have any serious concerns! They don't know what they are doing ever. read more

I would give them less than one star. My wife had an eye exam there last year and purchased new glasses that she was never able to use because they prescribed a much too strong script. She tried twice to get these corrected but was refused by the so called optometrist- said he couldn't see what the problem was, even though from the moment she put the glasses on, she was dizzy and somewhat nauseated, plus she could not read anything unless it was right at her nose level. This guy was so rude, as well as the gentleman who gives you the glasses when they arrive , who was also told the moment she put them on that they were far too strong. He tried to tell her to hold up the paper above her face in order to read it properly ! She told him no one would read at that level/position ! They are terrible, unprofessional, and inept.They refused the fact the glasses were wrong. They did not offer to double check the lens or to correct any mistake they may have made in the prescription. She never once was able to wear these glasses which cost over $375. When my wife met with a real Optometrist, he agreed the glasses were far too strong. The idiot at Sun Hill optical should be fired the way he treats his customers ( my wife was made to feel as if she had no clue what here eyes were seeing) and takes their money and all their insurance benefits for absolutely Nothing...this company is a joke and no one should go to these so called opticians.. they are way below the mark of professionalism. Our family has been going to the Riverview location since 2013. We have to say that Kathy and Teresa KEPT us coming back. First Kathy left. And now Teresa is gone because of the apparent lack of concern by ownership? (Have not had a conversation with her or any others but it's easy to read between the lines). I have been TRYING to get my correct lenses since May! If the current owner really cares about retaining our family's business, some changes will need to be made. We are a family of four and are definitely ready to go elsewhere after my most recent experience. I have to say that the 2 women at the Valrico branch are carrying more than their share of the load because of the turnover rate and seeming incompetence now at the Riverview branch. However, the Valrico branch is out of my way even for better customer service. The gentleman whom I sure is trying to do his best is not up to maintaining the fast paced environment or client load it seems that comes through the Riverview branch on a daily basis. I shouldn't have to make repeated phone calls OR visits just to get my lenses. These were paid UP FRONT on 4/30. And I still do not have them. Buyer beware. The young optician who saw me on 4/30 was awesome. Just watch out if you are purchasing your lenses there. Kathy was always great about pricing my frames with and without insurance to make sure I was getting the best deal. We just purchase frames, lenses and contacts for one of our daughters about 6 months ago and my husband is ready to purchase sunglasses and new glasses but will be going elsewhere. Not worth the hassle. Please read this Frank and make necessary adjustments. Customer service HAS to be top notch or your clientele will move one as we are. read more

The store at Sun City Center appears dingy, not well lit. Very few selection. Prices on the frames not marked, it appears they price at their whim. They will make you feel they are giving you a good deal, but I suspect, it is always a better deal for them. Family owned (I am surprised at that) for decades, more like preying on elderly citizens and milking money from their insurance companies for decades. This is the most unprofessional optical office I have ever been to. When I called to make an appointment the gentleman who answered the phone took my name and no other information. They had immediate openings which I've never experienced an an optical office. I chose Sun Hill and supposedly Dr. Breault due to a change in insurance. I thought I'd be seeing Dr. Breault. What a mistake! Dr. Breault's cards are at the front desk but I saw a Dr. Robb LaRosa. Their website, which is a joke, does not provide any good info on the practice or the staff. There are lots of special offer coupons though. I could not find any information on Dr. LaRosa, who, by the way, I was not impressed with. It was the least thorough eye exam I've ever had. The office is not very nice. It's an old building. Maybe they think their patients in Sun City don't care if it appears to be a low budget operation. There's no real waiting room. The receptionist desk is right inside the door and the chairs are lined up around her desk. No privacy when discussing your personal information. There's little room to move and patients were standing outside the door waiting for a seat to become available. I showed up 15 minutes prior to my appointment time in case I needed to do paperwork and waited almost an hour before I was seen. From where I was sitting I could see right into what appeared to be a broom closet with cleaning supplies. I would think they would shut the door if there was one to shut. The exam room had the usual chair with the revolving lens equipment but that was it. No eye dilation, no other special equipment that is customary for most eye doctors. I asked the person measuring me for glasses what his background was and he told me his background was in business and he had been working the family business since he was a teen. Ok so maybe he was trained well but I did not feel comfortable that my glasses would be right. Then when I picked up my glasses I couldn't see with them and was told not to wear them until I woke up the next day. Then when I looked at them I noticed yellow spots that appeared to be in the lenses. Another trip there, waiting room totally empty. Gave the glasses to the receptionist who told me they did not do a good job removing the factory markings. I have never had this happen in the 40+ years I've been wearing glasses. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I came hope and was able to change back to my old eye insurance and will return to a practice that has a higher level of professionalism and customer service. read more

Both my sons and I came to this optical the first time because of our insurance. We was amaze with a wonderful the service. Dr Breault was very professional. Both of my sons 9 and 6 years old were very enjoying their first exam ever. Ms. Kathy and her team were extremely helpful. We are very happy with our glasses and highly recommended. Have had two experiences with Sun Hill Optical and both have been exceptional! The first was years ago, when I got progressive lenses somewhere else and I just couldn't get used to them. I went to them and for $90 they made me trifocals to try out. Yes it was a waste of my money, but I had to see if they would do better...not! But I appreciate their effort in trying to help me see. The last visit was just yesterday. My husband got glasses from Visionworks and has had nothing bet trouble with them. First off, they were buy one get one free, but they failed to explain to us we could share the offer, we didn't have to buy 4 pair of glasses! Then, because he has a difficult lens to make, the made each pair over twice, and he still couldn't see out of them. So yesterday we stopped in Sun Hill to see what was wrong, if it was an error in the prescription or something as simple as an adjustment. Turns out for one pair they had the bifocal part of the progressive lens a little too low, so adjusting them up a bit made all the difference in the world. The second pair? The axis was off about 4 degrees which without a stigmatizism wouldn't be a problem but because he has a stigmatism, it is a problem. So we will be taking them back to Visionworks for another remake... and in the future, will be going to Sun Hill Optical for our glasses... no doubt independent Optical are better! That's how they earn a living so they have to be good! read more
