Pad Thai was super on point
    Terrance S.

Stuck with the pad Thai two nights in a row. Was very delicious minus the coriander. My TravelMate went with the Seabass which they truly enjoyed as well. The tempura squid as an appetizer was a great choice. The staff was very warm and inviting the two nights that we were there. Would definitely recommend returning. Great ambience and environment. Seems to be a very popular restaurant in Dublin. Thanks for the great experience.

Opium, Dublin Date Night What I ordered : Pok Pok Chicken Wings (€8) Sweet Potato Fries (€4.50) Green Curry w/ Chicken & Fried Rice (€14.50) Tropical Tuk Tuk(€12) Dark Chocolate Brownie (€8) I've been waiting to go to Opium for the longest time and it did not disappoint! So we sat up at the Botanical Garden which was beautiful. We went for the Pok Pok Chicken Wings and Sweet Potato Fries as our starters. Delicious. The fries came with a Red Curry Aioli side dip which worked great with them (and the chicken wings too lol). The chicken wings were great too! They were filled with a lot of flavour and served with a ranch dip. Although it went well with the ranch dip, we both preferred the curry dip with the wings. The green curry is already spicy having 3 chilies next to it on the menu, but when the server asked if I would like it even spicer I said why not and absolutely regret nothing. The curry was packed with flavour too and perfectly spiced. The only small downfall was I almost forgot I was eating a chicken curry and not a vegetable curry. There were about 3 tiny little pieces of chicken in there. So my little advice for Opium would be to add a bit more chicken please The Tropical Tuk Tuk y'allll! And I know you're eyeing that lovely tropical-looking drink in the tall glass but nope that isn't it. The clear one in that little cup was a delightful surprise. I think I may have visibly frowned when the server brought over this drink because she had to quickly explain that despite the appearance it was really nice and she was right! If you're into coconut & tropical flavoured drinks, this is for you! Nothing about this was overpowering and the flavours complemented each other perfectly. The chocolate brownie was nice too. I do enjoy nuts in my food but for this brownie, it just wasn't doing anything for either of us. But we simply pushed them to the side and continued enjoying our dessert. Would I return? Yes, Yes and Yes. Once again it was a beautiful restaurant, the food was really good and our server was amazing! Fun Fact: I already recommended this place to one of my friends, and he and his date enjoyed it too so that's some further feedback for y'all Follow @temitries for more restaurant reviews

Great food and service! I recommend the pad thai. The restaurant is a little loud though...

Great Asian restaurant! The food is delicious. The portions are huge, so when they have the option for half an entree I would recommend going for that. Their cocktails are also delicious and I definitely would recommend. It is a bit pricey, but it's a great place to go for a nicer dinner or to celebrate.

Finally got a chance to dine at long bookmarked restaurant. The place is gorgeous. Filled with East Asia character. A mixture of Japanese, Thai and more. Like a little art museum - you'll be looking around decorations while waiting for your delicious meal. Menu isn't huge, which isn't a bad thing. Usually smaller menus in restaurants translate into fresh and not frozen food. Was watching Gordon Ramsey too much haha. Staff is at best. They were incredibly competent, helpful, friendly and professional. Except for when waiter forgot that I've ordered a cocktail and had to remind him about it. This happens, it's okay. One small silly thing caught my attention. Mens toilet door needs to be pushed to get in, but pull to get out. I'm saying this because I had ribs and I like to eat them with my bare hands and it would make more sense to had push out door. Food was great. Cocktails were delicious. Desert was yummy. Atmosphere warm and cozy, kinda sexy (maybe?). Well I was on a valentine's date so maybe I'm influenced by that haha. Would recommend definitely.

Come here for: - lunch, and try the Pad Thai! - Aperitif and share some gyoza in the "garden" on the back - Friends night out, and go crazy for all their cocktails ! - late nate, and enjoy the electronic music at the 1st floor One of the best places in Dublin. And even if you are not that much into electronic music (like me) is still very tasty and finest. Really, go there!

    Opium tea service. Yummmm

Wooooow. So I only went here for cocktails, but they were STUNNING. The best one by a long shot was the Passion Fruit & Lychee Merangue Martini. Refer to my photos - it is literally a cake in a glass. Vodka, lychee liquor, lemon juice and sugar, all topped off with a passion fruit meringue. Sweet mother. It's so good. I can't explain how good. Then there was the Opium Tea Service which comes in an Oriental stone teapot with little cups. It's basically a sh#iteload of Hennessy with some other stuff thrown in like orange flower water, ice, and green tea syrup. They also put a slice of lemon in your cup with some green tea that's been burned into it. I ended up just getting a new clean cup, as the overall cocktail was fairly sharp, so adding some extra lemon to it was too much. Also the tea had started floating around the cup which was a little off-putting! The cocktails aren't cheap - all in around the tenner mark. But to be honest, I feel if they're made that well, and have enough booze in them, it can be justified. The decor is really special - very opulent and striking, and I absolutely loved the massive bar in the middle. We sat there and the barmen made our cocktails right in front of us, chatting us through the whole lot. I love this idea of sitting at the bar if I'm there with maybe one other person. It kinda feels like you've got the best seats in town. I can see myself coming back here, time and time again, spending lots of money I don't have!

    Best thai curry ever
    Christina H.

Wow, what a great place! I swear this was the best thai curry I had in a long time! It's a really nice place with kick ass food, great range of cocktails, super friendly staff and generally great atmosphere. And common, the name Opium is great all by itself! I had the green thai curry and it was simply perfection aaand it hat 8 massive shrimps, and heaps of vegetable and a delicious curry sauce! I can definitely recommend coming here, you won't regret it!

Excellent food! This place is definitely on the pricer side but totally worth it. I noticed that food in general is more expensive in Dublin. I ordered the takeaway tonic and it was so good! It had chili vodka! It was served in a Chinese takeaway box too! It was so cute. For dinner I had the cashew chicken. It was so delicious. I loved all the flavors and the rice was so so yummy. This place is a must-do in Dublin!

    Holly M.

So delicious! The food is amazing, gorgeous place, loved the cocktail, which is a surprise because I'm never into cocktails. A bit expensive but was very happy with the portions, dishes are presented nicely but that didn't take away from the amount of food you get. The crab cakes were good, didn't taste much like crab, but the prawn chips were perfection, especially with the sauces you get along with them. The Cashew Chicken was fab. something I could only dream of cooking myself, tons of flavor, perfectly seasoned, just the right amount of heat; miles away from the bulk of Asian cuisine I've had in the past (not overly salty, spicy or oily). We had the brownie for dessert (barely had room for it), it was fairly small but we enjoyed it. I really loved the Sex in the Forest, a towering cocktail, super fresh and delicious! It definitely made me want to try another next time I'm there. The ambiance is deceiving, it's a beautiful restaurant with lots of candles that makes it feel like the perfect date night spot, but while it tries to be chic and romantic, the noise level is that of a club. I might sound like an old lady but the music is very loud, which is annoying when you want to actually talk to your date. This place very much wants to be a super-chic, modern restaurant but needs to pick between that and the bar scene. The food and cocktails are both top notch, so they definitely have the chops to be either, but right now they are stuck somewhere in between. Would definitely like to come back for lunch, I will probably prefer it to the Friday night dinner scene.

    Banh mi
    Oanh P.

Been here today with my colleagues and I was so excited to see 'banh mi' in their menu. Of course it couldn't be exactly same as my banh mi at home but it was not bad at all. One other good thing about this place is their cosy atmosphere. Their decoration, their music and staffs made you seriously want to come back again soon. And yes, why not?!

Singapore noodles. Protein adds were customisable

Great food, great service - bang on what we were after. We ordered red duck curry, Singapore noodles, gyoza and satay Dessert was frozen caramel parfait and zombie cocktails. Efficient, friendly, helpful service. Good flavours and fresh food. When next in Dublin and we're after an Asian fusion fix, we'll be back. Booking might be recommended for larger groups or busy hours.

    Sharon S.

I'm so unbelievably in love with this place! Bn before for dinner, cocktail night out but what has most impressed me is the fab lunch menu, super cheap ass menu and the speed of service so us flying lunch groups can wizz in, get fed and wander back to work all within ye hour! That got it all going on like clock work - hats off to you Mr. Opium Menu faves are the beef chilli and the lamb Massaman curry! Out of this world, yumtastic!!!!

We visited twice, and the first time was on a Wednesday night. They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

It feels a bit weird writing a public review of a secret spot...but I can't gatekeep this spot!…read more The Blind Pig Speakeasy was one of our favorite spots while in Ireland, and it ranks high on our list for several reasons! They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with! Oh, I do highly recommend reservations! They are a small and very in demand spot, so trying to walk-in is a bit risky. Overall, we absolutely loved our evening at The Blind Pig! A bartender is pouring bottled water into a bottle of Jameson. Another employee came over and is talking to her while she is doing this. When we returned, the host remembered us & remembered that we prefer to sit at the bar. They showed us to our reserved spots - at the bar! We first admired the interior. Underground! Somehow low-lit, archaic, well-lit, & modern, all at the same time. Lively but not noisy pop music was playing - Dua Lipa, etc. The actual physical menu was so cool. It was a beautifully designed picture-book inspired menu, with each cocktail having its own separate & artful page. I'm looking back on the menu & I think the drink I ordered was "Fight Club" (Don Julio Blanco, mango, Falernum, camomile, lemon, & sugar) & it was phenomenal. The bartender scorched a hot pepper & carefully placed it on top, which MADE the drink. He also made my partner a Paper Plane with Scotch. Delicious. Speaking of the bartender, he was a real champion. Such a nice guy with a bit of flair to his style of bartending. We really enjoyed chit chatting with him. There is a fireplace and vintage furniture, makes for a great atmosphere when you want a quiet drink, though it can get pretty loud because it's often full. They do have a nice selection of drinks though it's not as huge as some bars, but it's a nice place for a Port or Whiskey. I am a little put off by the staff, but it depends on who's there. Sometimes they're fine, not going out of their way to be nice, but decent. Though, one particular bartender is... tactless and comes off rude. Ordering from her is off putting because she doesn't really listen or answer your questions. It's too bad because when we come in and see that she's working the bar it kind of puts you off. Great for both beer and cocktails. Watching the bartenders craft drinks was an art form. Service was attentive as well. Lots of great seating, both indoor and outdoor. We opted to sit outdoors on a mild November night which ended up being a really nice experience. It was pretty busy even on a Sunday night. If you're in the area, definitely add No Name Bar to your list!

But Yelp calls it "No Name Bar." Late at night, this is the place to be. The music is loud, the place is hoppin', and everyone is movin' and groovin'. It's LOADS of fun, I can't express that enough - but it DOES get packed! If you are staying in Kelly's Hotel up above it, you MUST visit at least once to see what all the fuss is and why your hotel room is rattling until 2 or 3 in the morning. They have DJs playing every Friday and Saturday "from 10pm until late" as it's billed on their website. It's connected to the hotel, so if you are staying there, you can just head down the stairs to enter. From street level, use the entrance with the snail hanging above the black door with the address number of "3" on the door. It's so easy to walk past and not notice it. The entrance is JUST past the sidewalk patio for L'Gueuleton.

It's actually the front of a fairly big bar in the back and you can go inbetween the two and drink in either venue, the loos are also in here and to the back. The guys I was with all enjoyed their cocktails and the music was laid back and cool - if you want a cocktail then make sure you check it out.

A group of us went here after dinner and we were treated like lords! As soon was we walked in we were treated to a bottle of tap water whomever browsed the menus. Embarrassingly I picked a Brooklyn beer to drink when there was a whole host of extravagant and elegant cocktails on offer! The bar itself was truly stunning, it was lit by candle light giving a real intimate feel, even though there were 10 of us there. It kind of felt like a secret club. Really top notch in my opinion, I wish there were more places like this in my City.

And, we looked, and then we sat, and then we ordered, and then we drank and then we smiled and laughed a little bit more than we expected to in the middle of Saturday afternoon. Go on up to the second level. Grab a comfy seat in one of those black leather chairs. Order the fruity gin and tonic - it's served in a huge goblet that will have you smiling before you've taken your first sip! The vibe is actually sexy. And, the view overlooking the street is pleasing. The bartender is smooth. And, the natural light in the daytime makes this a must stop if you're up for drinking the afternoon away in a spot that's far from your standard, dime a dozen corner pub. Now this is a cool bar - Mr. McGrath is on to something! Cheers!

They have done a great job on it- I like the uplit bar and the brick walls. My favourite thing though are the upholstered chairs- they are lovely ! I have to say in general the staff here are very friendly too- even when its busy. I think the bar has become busier since they opened the first floor as Taste at Rustic. This has made the bar busier which is good for them. I dont like it as much though as it can take a while to get a drink. I had the Elderflower Martini tonight and it was lovely. My friends Martini with Passionfruit was a hit with him. This is a great place for a quick drink before dinner here or elsewhere.
