What an amazing place to have a meal. The view is wonderful and the food matches it. This is a very busy place but don't be put off by the crowds. We went on a very busy Saturday afternoon and we were served almost straight away and our food was served just as quickly. I ordered the warm duck salad and a steamed duck bun and the flavour was spectacular.friend ordered the jungle curry and enjoyed every bite. It was very cold and wet Sydney day when we went but even sitting in the open it was dry and beautifully warm with the heaters going and huge umbrellas up. This is a nice way to enjoy the wonderful sight of Sydney Harbour Bridge while enjoying a wide variety of great food. Great atmosphere and very attentive staff also help make this place a must do for anyone visiting Sydney. read more

The view here is nice, as it is directly next to the harbor and famed Opera House. The seating was nice, next to the water, however there are seagulls galore and they are aggressive trying to eat any crumbs that drop or food that is unattended, even for a moment. Pricing was ridiculous and the wine pour was meager. I would recommend bringing your own lunch and sitting by the water. read more

Located under the walkway to the Opera House right in the Circular Quay. But offers amazing views of the Quay and Harbour Bridge. Yes it's pricey and touristy and we had just little bite splitting an order of natural oysters and the Asian tasting plate. All was very good with really good service. Just be advised that there are many very clever and greedy sea birds here that have little fear of humans and will stalk you as you as eat looking for any chance to swoop in and grab something. After having dinner at the Opera bar, we moved over to Opera Kitchen to have drinks and lounge. It was a cool experience. We lounges on the rock cement benches and watched the sunset. I ordered a drink called "The Problem Solver" and it was delicious. Our waiter was an Italian guy, super friendly and nice. Great experience. read more

Absolutely loved this place. I came here on the second to last day of my trip to Sydney. I was sad it took me so long to find out about this place. I came here for dinner and got the surf & turf. The steak wasn't anything spectacular, but it was nice. I thought the prawns were quite good. The view from this place is absolutely amazing. You're right next to the opera house. The tables are right by the water with a perfect view of the Sydney skyline and harbour bridge. I came back here the day after for breakfast and ordered the breakfast burger. It was amazing. One of the best burgers I've ever had. If I ever get the chance to come back to sydney, I'll definitely be stopping back here. read more

We went here prior to a concert, it was busy as it was a holiday and the sun was out. We ordered the fish and chips each, we could have really just ordered one to share, it was a lot of food!! Went here for pre-show food and drinks. Fantastic location! Good food as always (love Ms Chu) and the quality of food did not disappoint. Drinks on offer were aplenty however quite $$$ as you would expect from the location under the Opera House. Long lines to order food. Most of the food arrived quickly however two random dishes did not make it to the table in the first 30 minutes. On approaching staff they seem flustered and not able to get us the dishes we were waiting on. In talking to the Chef behind the counter I was told abruptly that they were very busy and I wasn't missing anything and I would have to wait for it to come out. Another 20 minutes passed three waiters spoken to and it still took a calmer member of our dining party to go up and ask for the dumplings we were missing. Thankfully he gave us some extra dumplings and was very apologetic after our 40+ minute wait. read more

For far too long, trips to Sydney's iconic Opera House were rarely a gastronomic affair - that is, unless you can afford to fork out a small fortune for a Bistro Guillaume degustation or settle for mediocre tapas platters at the stylish but overpriced Opera Bar on the lower concourse. The arrival of Opera Kitchen earlier this year quickly filled this pre-theatre dining gap with an exciting selection of cafeteria-style eateries. Communal seating makes for speedy service, and while there is a dedicated bar area facing the harbour you can just as easily request a glass of wine whilst putting in your food order. A recent visit landed me at Miss Chu, serving up its lauded selection of fresh Vietnamese rice paper rolls and steamed dumplings as per the original Bourke Street outpost. Their beef vermicelli salad was a little disappointing - underdressed, over-noodled and scattered with a sand-like topping (crushed dried shrimps, maybe?) - but no matter as a redeeming return trip later on featured tasty prawn and scallop dumplings and satisfying char sui pork buns. read more

A wee bit confusing to start off with... It's a place where you place your order from the board menu and then you are given an electronic tag... The meal of the classic burger with beetroot and an egg on top perfectly classic. Quick service and it did have a vibe with chatter and lots of people down on the harbour for drinks. read more

A very unusual way for the server to find the table you will be sitting at with your food. You receive a electronic tracker to put on your table and they will find you. To bad the high price you pay for that food is not also of the best standard. Was lacking and average. Looks very good the presentation is fabulous. This place is some good food, the menu is slightly limited but still good nonetheless. You have to order the food first and then pick a table while you wait with your buzzer and the food gets brought to you. That and fighting off Seagals that kept trying to get at my food are the only reason I give this 4/5 stars. There is no getting around the fact that Opera Kitchen is in an amazing position. The views across Circular Quay to the city in one direction, the Harbour Bridge another and then across the North Sydney are just spectacular. Whether it is day or night, it is just a wonderful place to sit and reminds me, a born and bred Sydney-sider, what a lovely city it is. Now, this is pretty much what Opera Kitchen trades on. That's not to say that the service, the food and the drinks are not acceptable, they are. It is just that you pay a lot for them and should not expect anything all that interesting. It's a place to go for fairly stock standard dishes at premium prices. For example, at $21 for a chicken laksa that would cost around $13 a stones throw away in the city and be substantially more authentic and tasty along with a $10 standard Australia pale ale beer that would cost no more than $8 at a good bar nearby, it's not going to be cheap meal. The food is fine, there is enough of it, it is cooked fresh and served quickly, the staff are all very pleasant and besides very slow bar staff (1 person serving and 3 people shuffling spirit bottles around at 7PM on a Thursday night, WTF?), are very efficient and welcoming. If you visit for the setting, especially before a show at the Opera House, and are happy paying the premium for fairly average food then you'll have a good time. If you come expecting an interesting dinner and baulk at paying overs for a location, then you'll leave disappointed. read more

This place is beyond horrible and the only reason it gets 1 star is because I am unable to give it less. Obviously, the restaurant has an un-ending supply of suckers stopping in for a bite as a tourist and/or patron of the Opera House in this epic location but the food, drinks, service and pricing were an abomination. I understand that pricing is going to be on the steep end given where I'm at but this was really just a slap in the face. I ordered the beef ramen bowl for $25 and I have had $0.25 ramen that far exceeded it. My bad I guess for thinking it would at least be edible but I won't make the mistake again. Tomorrow nights' dinner will be made in my airbnb where I KNOW I'll have a great meal! Shame on the Opera House for this level of exploitation. read more

Shared a Waygu burger with my partner. It was tasty but not something I'd go out of my way for. The fries were excellent and the service was fast and efficient and the location can't be beat. Service sucks! Food sucks! Sat at a table for 15 minutes trying to get a server's attention. Asked an employee (bus person) if he could send over our waitress and was told they're too busy! WTF! Who says that?! Finally counter ordered. Food came at separate times. My $23 chicken sandwich was dry and hard to swallow without something to wash it down. My companion couldn't even finish the Asian beef ramen. Fries were decent but they came way before the main. Would not recommend. read more

Personally I preferred the Opera Kichen; better value on prices and I preferred their drinks menu for choice. Did not get to eat here but relaxed for a couple of hours as the sun went down. We had booked a table for two and arrived on a busy Wednesday night two days before Xmas. There was some confusion about where to go since anyone could walk up and get a table. We lined up to order but then realised there was another section for bookings. We finally were given a table and our orders taken. We both had the Chipotle burger which was great quality, the food was spot on. Overall the service was good, the staff were friendly it was just that little bit of disorganisation and uncertainty about where to go. Quite awful in the daytime. There should be a a amazing view of the harbor, but they've made terrible use of their space. You can't see the amazing view in the daytime because their tables don't have umbrellas. How smart is that? They're too lazy to take orders. They leave the lunch menu out during breakfast. Went to the opera house had lunch here. It is very convenient for anyone who gets hungry after walking around the opera house. The only thing is the seagulls are insane here and attacked about 4 people while i sat there over a 10 min period. We were sitting outside but decided to move closer to the kitchen because of the crazy birds. Its really expensive too and your paying for average food. Would recommend to try this place if your in sydney for the view. However we walked down the waterfront and saw other cafes with no birds and probably better views of sydney. read more

This place is pretty much the definition of a tourist trap. A menu that includes sushi and burgers on the same page should have been a giant red flag, but we had a show to catch and were lured in by its proximity to the opera house. The thai chicken curry was quite possibly the worst curry I have ever had, completely bland with the sauce pretty much indistinguishable from water. The staff all seemed very flustered and acted like they don't care, and simple requests for silverware were met with blank stare. To make matters worse, merely seconds after I left my seat to fetch tap water to, well, water down the food, a seagull brazenly attacked my food while my cousin was still sitting at the table. The passing-by server's response? "You are supposed to cover up your food". Er, with what exactly, when you are not even providing napkins? Needless to say I let the seagull finish the curry. I guess I wouldn't mind as much if Opera Kitchen is honest about its offering, which is cafeteria level food and service (plus the constant bird attacks), but at the prices they are charging the dining experience is simply horrendous. read more
